Hair Extensions: Care And Tips

I want to start by saying I’m not a licensed cosmetologist (make sure you talk to yours first!) but just letting you know what I’ve learned from my hairstylist/cosmetologist! I wish I would have used these healthy hair tips a long time ago! I have seen a major difference in the way my hair styles and how there is less breakage/fallout. Here are the tips I stated in my video...

1. Easy brushing to physically reduce the breakage

2. Heat protectant, I use the catwalk brand and it seems to work for me :)

3. I wash my hair 1-2 times a week and love my batiste and dove dry shampoo between washes!

4. Style hair in ponytail gently! Lol I was really rough in the beginning and created some nice bald spots for myself! AH!

5. I love scrunchies because they don’t pull on the hair as much, causing friction and breakage.

6. I haven’t tried the oribe brand of hair products but my hairstylist LOVES this brand. If you use it already, let me know how it works!

7. Lucky number 7! My favorite tip is the water filter!!!! Why didn’t I get one of these years ago?!? It has helped so much with keeping my hair and skin soft when hard water is not so forgiving!

Here is the link for the one I got on amazon

8. I forgot to talk about this in the video but my hairstylist told me to always rinse your hair with cool water when you are done washing your hair to seal the cuticles. This makes the hair stronger and resist elements of damage a bit better. She also advised me to use the COOL button on my blow dryer when I’m done blow drying my hair... same concept! :)

What'S up guys, it's your girl, Tina Michelle Here, I am so excited today, I'm going to make a video on how to prolong the life of your hair extensions. You know all these tips, I'm going to give you um they're recommended from my hairstylist, I'm the one that should actually put these in she colors my hair. My hair is becoming more and more healthy. Now and all these tips like, I don't understand why I didn't do them sooner, but now I guess not. Every hair stylist will tell you this in the salon, but these are really great tips that are going to help you keep your hair, healthy and hopefully they'll. Last longer so you don't have to get them adjusted more often. Okay, let's get started okay guys, so the first tip I have for you is when you're brushing your hair, don't mind my hairbrush, so I have the. I think it's like too wet to dry brush, but I really like this brush. I always like this brush. I think I got at Target a long time ago, but I've had it for a very long time, but when it comes to brushing your hair extentions be kind to them be nice to them. I know sometimes, and I'm totally guilty of this. You know you're in a hurry and you're like pushing your hair like really fast and you're yanking on them, but be kind to them. You know slowly, brush them out, be careful. Take your time and I promise you. Your hair is going to last longer that way. The next tip I have for you is when it comes to heat and styling your hair, so we want to try and preserve the hair we have. We want to keep it healthy. The best way that my hairstylist told me to try and do this when it comes to styling - is a heat protectant, the one that I use is the catwalk and it can become a little greasy. So what I usually do is, I will spray it on my hands and I'll shake so I'll, just spray it in my hands and then here and then kind of just pull it through. It keeps your hair looking really shiny and nice, and then so you do. This before you actually start to curl your hair straighten it whatever it is so that heat protectant is going to help keep your hair healthy, because it acts as a barrier and sometimes you'll, see like when you're curling, your hair, like kind of steam, come off. That'S the product versus damaging your hair, so heat protectants are a thumbs up. Well, I have learned along the hair care journey that dry shampoo will become your best friend and the reason I say that is because the less like touching and pulling and washing that you can do to your extensions they're going to last longer because they're, not being You know pulled on and Don they're kind of just left alone, a little more so they're gon na stay in place a lot longer. So your best friend I like the batiste is your dry shampoo love it. I will usually only wash my hair about once a week and then the rest of the days I'm just putting dry shampoo in, and so I like this one, this one works really well. If you want something that smells really good, like maybe on your last day and your hair is not smelling the best I go for a dove refresh and care smells really good and yeah. It smells like you just washed it, so that is my go-to, maybe towards the end of the week. So one mistake that I made when I first started getting hair extensions is, I was really like rough with them. I remember when I first pulled up my hair. I accidentally like here's my extension right here, but I see yeah, there's yeah, that's it right there. That is my bald spot, because I pulled my hair extension. I wasn't being careful with them and I totally just like pulled it up and yank the like my hair out of my my skull and oh yeah. So just be careful when you are putting your hair up, just be careful and do it gently and you will prolong the life of your hair extension and you won't pull out your hair, which is a plus, so another tip I can give. You is use scrunchies versus, like hair ties because they have fabric on them and they will help promote less breakage when, when your hair is, you know, being tied in a ponytail or anything, it helps create less damage so and plus scrunchies are totally in right now. So that's up today, another tip from my hairdresser. Was this product called or rebei gold lust repair and restore shampoo and conditioner, I'm just gon na like show it to you yeah, but it I have not bought this product. Yet so she swears by it and it's amazing: it helps repair any damaged hair, but it is a little bit on the pricier side. So I have not splurged and got the shampoo yet, but she loves it and it's yeah already a rebei gold lust repair restore shampoo. You can get our Amazon, I can get at Nordstrom. So there's a lot of different places. You can get it at, but right now, I'm using the Bed Head recovery number two shampoo and conditioner, and I've been using that for a long time. I really like it. She told me that that one just kind of masks it's like a masking product where it doesn't actually repair, but it kind of forms like like a layer over the hair versus actually repairing it. So I'm still using that bottle. So maybe the next one that I shampoo, that I purchased will be the our eBay and I'll splurge on it, but she said a little goes a long way, so it might last me for a long time. So this is one of probably my favorite of all the tips that I have for you, and it is my filter, my water filter for my showerhead. This has been her, I think, probably her greatest tip for me just because I got that on Amazon, but the water filter has really changed. My hair and even my skin because I live in Arizona and our water is pretty hard, so I mean I guess it depends on where you're from, but I installed that on my shower head and or on my shower and the water is so much better. Can I tell you, oh my goodness, it is amazing, highly recommend you getting a water filter for your shower. The water just seems to be more soft. I can just tell on my hair - and I can tell on my skin, like it's - not it's like itchy or dry, like it used to be so overall, it health with dryness, especially with your hair and it's gon, na help with less breakage, and it will help Your extensions last a lot longer as well. Alright guys these are the tips I have for you today. Please don't forget to Like and subscribe to my channel. You guys are amazing and please don't forget to like the like button right here. Push it. Yes push it! You got it alright, guys subscribe lots more videos to come, hair beauty, makeup, lifestyle, nursing stuff, but yeah. I love you guys so much. Alright have a great day bye!
