Picking Big Scalp Flakes Psoriasis And Dermatitis Sew In Weave Removal

This video is an introduction to a skin and scalp disease that 1 in 300 people worldwide experience. Seborrheic Dermatitis and Psoriasis are overactive skin cells shedding in an accelerated rate. This phenomenon paired with overactive sebaceous oil glands create eruptions on the scalp that are tight and uncomfortable. Stylists are taught not to scratch these "patches" up because it could and often times does lead to an infection. I demonstrate how I remove the mounds of buildup and frosted skin on my client. Enjoy and please share this video if you appreciate the tips and would like to see more videos like it.

Hey again, everybody I hope you. I read that disclaimer, I kind of need y'all to read that y'all might feel a certain type of way after watching this video, if you don't, but I'm glad you're here glad you found me so let's get straight into the video. So I want you to see my client. This is about three months after her install and she does have seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis. So if you guys don't really know what that is, it's a chronic autoimmune disease that causes skin cells to build up really quickly. In really on any part of the skin, it's not an infection, you cannot catch it. It'S linked to out of your auto, I'm sorry, your immune system and genetics now the symptoms. They vary from person to person. You can have itching bleeding raised two patches of skin. Just a puss in some situations, so that's what you're gon na see a little bit of everything. So now with this client here, she's got a lot of raised skin cells up underneath there she's had her extensions in for about ten weeks. We'Ve got about an inch and a half of new growth. You see right here. This is a really overactive area that part right. There was giving a husband trouble mmm her scalp is actually pretty clean. It'S a little frosted from from her issue and it's the little dusty in there, but for the most part, you've got those raised areas, but her scalp isn't as bad. As you know, some other scopz have been definitely not as bad as it was. When she first started coming to me, she actually had her skin had turned into a different kind of type of skin. It was a lot rough bumpy and she had severe hair loss in some areas that had the more overactive raised skin feels. So when we removed all of those it took a while, but it regenerated and now she's got a full head of hair everywhere. So we're going to start by unraveling the braids taking them down, and this part, if you guys remember in another video, I love to pick stuff, so I am a picker and um. I personally I enjoy when my clients come to me with scalp issues. I love to help them and I love to assist the dermatologist in treating what issue it is and while I'm on that point, I want to talk a little bit about cosmetology and dermatology. Cosmetology is the practice of studying cosmetics in our profession. We are allowed to use items that will change the appearance of your skin or scalp or hair. With our license. We can't treat your scalp. We can't diagnose it and offer you a treatment for it. That'S what a dermatologist does. So I can carry out a dermatologist treatment, but I can't treat it so when I say I'm treating my client I'm actually using what the dermatologist offered to them and I'm just following the process. There are not a lot of dermatologists that actually do hair. I know there are some look, I think those are, and you can tell her Scott was stressed out, and this is like a really overactive area. If you were to run your fingers over it, it would be really bumpy and and dry and um and raised like it wouldn't be a smooth ball. You would have all these these these eruptions going on and you got to remove that you'll see in another clip where the hair, actually, since it's like a thin liquid, sometimes when it presses it coats the scalp when I say it was like frosted, but the hair Follicles are still able to grow in through that some of them, so it completely encapsulates your your your freely growing hair out of your out of your scalp. So I'm going to take the white tooth comb and just free up some of the debris. Now when you're, when you have your extensions in normal hair loss is 75 to 150 strands a day. That'S everybody! That'S across the globe! That'S normal! When you have your hair. Put up your hair is still shedding 75 to 150 strands a day. Now, if you can see, she does not have a lot of hair loss at all. This is coming straight out. We didn't do any tick tricks straight out. We don't have. I can't imagine, I can't stress it up: it's not a lot of hair loss. So now we have the white tooth comb and I'm going to go in and detangle, so we do have two areas in the back that still have that. The patches of skin that I said were that had completely changed in texture and you'll. See that again in the minute, no, you know what I think you'll see that on the this is a part, two video. So this is the first part just the removal, and then I have another part too. It'S like she's gon na show her hair getting Reber, aidid and reese odeon and that's gon na be nixed, but that's not on this video. But you can see like those areas in the back that that have actually changed texture. So she's got a full head of hair. You guys like forehead of thick extremely healthy hair, and this was not the case when she first started coming to me. Many people are going to say you know we're taught in school to not scratch up dandruff and we're not scratching up the flakes. But in reality, if you have a client, that's coming to you to get her hair styled and you're, not cleaning her hair and her scalp you're doing her a disservice. The people previous to me were shampoo and her hair. If they wanted to touch her at all and then they weren't even cleaning her scalp, it was steal big eruptions on her scalp. Her scalp was literally covered. When she came to me. I really took my time with her and the reward was much greater than the sacrifice. We were both happy at the end of the day and I got a new client for life. Most of her big flakes have dislodged you know, they're, just trapped in her hair they're, not going anywhere until you know I needed to take it down a shampoo like these pieces, but I do you want to. I do want to show you this chunk and you can kind of see how the hair grows through the scalp secretions. So you can see the holes here where the hair was coming through, and this is a pretty good nice sized flake. You know what I'm saying: can you imagine standing behind her in a line and that just sitting on her shoulder ain't, nobody got time for that, so getting back to the medicine now cosmetics, if you can walk up in a store and pick it up yourself as A consumer: that's a cosmetic if you have to go behind the counter and ask for prescript permission or have a prescription, that's medicine. So the dermatologist deals with the medicine. Cosmetologist deals with cosmetics. So a lot of people are saying I would do this and I would do that. I would do this. I would do that well under your license. You really can't do any of that, so you need to turn, take a step back and look at the laws. So this is her scalp. Now this is a little. This is from me just coming through it. You see some red patches and that's not irritated. I haven't scratched her Scott, her flakes up yet at all. That'S just what's going on so we're putting our cut products. Scalp cleanse on here - and this is going to soften up - that that tight skin and it's also going to loosen up some of those the scales. So I spray this evenly and I completely saturate her scalp. We give her a nice light, scalp massage while I'm just working it in and making sure it's getting in there and beginning to soften everything. So when it's thoroughly applied and all of her scalp has been covered, there's no really neat. There'S no real need to put it on her hair. Then we just place her under a heated dryer with the plastic cap on and the cap is going to generate some steam and that'll pre soften and get to get the the first steps of the softening process. Going so now, she's out, we left her under there for about 10 minutes and remember the dryer was already heated, didn't go into it cold and now I'm just running my fingers through it trying to figure out where her elevations are, and I go back and that's When I started scratching now, the the steaming and the the pre cleanse all softens it up tremendously, and even though she has some overactive areas, I still scratched her entire scalp up and it's not a sharp comb at all. It'S it's and it's not a hard digging process. You'Re gon na see them when you get ready as soon as you scratch. One piece, you're gon na see how much of it is actually there in this area. Right here, like I said it was her active area. So I did spend quite some time over here and she had a really big eruption, so we did that all the way around and, as you can see with my hand, movements I'm as gentle as I possibly can be. Now we come to shampoo so with shampoo. We'Re going to use the clarifying shampoo, then we go in with a dandruff shampoo and then we could do a conditioner. So those are her steps. The doctor does prescribe her a shampoo and she hates it when we use that shampoo, the texture of her hair changes and we didn't see any results from it anyway, so we stopped using it, but we did continue to use the spray that he has as shoes Once we clean her hair - and this is the spray and we love it so please tune in to the next video. If you want to see the other process and thank you so much for for watching

molly k: im glad you’re educated on the subject and didn’t treat her like she was dirty. it probably made her feel really comfortable

Tsura Angel: I can't IMAGINE this woman's depression and embarrassment about this because people just assume she's dirty and nasty. I am so glad she found you, someone who understands what is actually going on and can help her treat the condition and to mention give her that confidence back! ♥♥ Thank you for doing what you do!

Silika Mauwong: You didn't just educate us about treating hair and scalp. You also educated us how to treat one another with respect and excellent customer service too. You should be so incredibly proud of yourself! <3

Lord Venger: Who else is bingeing these videos while being locked down from CoronaVirus lol

o_livia: anyone else find it really satisfying when all the flakes get removed?

Mylene Juliette: From someone who also suffers with Scalp Psoriasis, Your attitude towards her condition, Non judgemental, Poised and totally professional means a lot as it is a condition that lasts a lifetime that really strains on self esteem, you are truly an angel❤️

Liz: I actually suffer from this, it’s humiliating and it’s the reason I never go to salons because people act like I don’t wash my hair. Ironically the psoriasis is worst the day after washing my hair :( wish I could find a salon that was as understanding as you. Trust me, I actually got emotional watching this from how kind you were speaking. This is my biggest insecurity, since childhood.

hot mamma21: People who couldn't even spell psoriasis before watching this video think they're educated enough to start making suggestions i-

Missy Maria: Her hair is so thick and shiny! I can’t imagine how relaxed she must’ve felt after getting her scalp scratched, washed, and massaged.

Me: “I really took my time with her..” You’re such a sweetheart God bless you, you did an amazing job

Cherrelle: You never know what someone is battling underneath their seemingly perfect hair and make up. This is just a reminder for us all to learn from this stylist and treat everyone with non judgmental kindness and patience. God Bless you!

naturalsystah: "I love to assist the dermatologist" - A PROFESSIONAL. Such care, and expertise. Big up!

Red Thunderbird: I dont have psoriasis, but I have eczema and often times it gets severe on my scalp too and it looked JUST like that. I was so embarrassed to wear black because you could so easily see my skin flakes that would fall off and I was so embarrassed that people would think I was dirty. Thank you for helping her, seeing that other people have similar problems makes me feel less hopeless about my skin and it's slow healing. I deeply sympathize with your patient and inhopevshe's healed well

Maria Soldi: The way you care about your clients hair and scalp needs is so refreshing!

Madi Madeline: It’s funny how some people don’t really notice that she’s changing peoples lives

Luke Thomas: I hope if I'm ever going through something that could be embarrassing, I find someone as professional, matter of fact, and kind as you to help.

Gamernatrix: This is the most intelligent, well spoken, knowledgeable lady ever. Let alone how diligent she is at cleaning and treating. Like NO ONE ELSE would have been this thorough. Let alone without gloves. This lady is an angel.

Elizabeth Schuon: I can only imagine how good it must have felt for her to have that done. I have had experience with mild cases of psoriasis on the scale, both personally and loved ones and I know that it can be super itchy. I really hope that she felt better afterwards Edit: I also love that you mentioned that it's an immune response, that it’s not contagious or “gross” it's just how some people’s bodies react. Kinda like allergies

Sanam A: Man it must have felt soooooo good for the client when you were spraying in the scalp cleanser for the first time. I got second hand satisfaction just from that lol amazing work!!

Lorde Row: This stylist's personality is EVERYTHING.

Regina Gonzales: Aww I can't imagine having this condition. This video had me in tears literally because this stylist touched my heart. Ma'am you are a blessing. You actually care about your clients and the HEALTH of their hair. Thank you so much and I'm a new subscriber.

Gina Plowman: I stopped going to stylist bc they thought I was dirty and didn’t was my hair for months when I only had a sew in for 3 weeks and my hair did this. when I had flare ups they thought I didn’t get my hair done for a year.

Sarah Thomas: You're very professional, warm, and kind! Going step by step! Well done! My late Aunt had dandruff and severely dry patches in her scalp! She took care of her hair the best way she could and got it treated though! Bless you!

Pajama Feet: The positivity and love in your voice toward this client is heartwarming to hear.

Adhesive Lemon: My mom has psoriasis on her scalp, super curly hair, and severe depression. Ive helped her detangle and clean her hair myself, but seeing professionals like this really warms my heart. This is not dirty. It's someone struggling.

Shiv's Ghost: Thank you for being so understanding and respectful on this. It's already bad enough to have these issues without people treating us like we're dirty or gross.

FINEDIAMOND: I REALLY appreciate how kind, understanding, and compassionate you were with her. The way you treated her is THE GOLD STANDARD of care and professionalism. You are SUCH A LOVELY LADY and if I suffered from this condition, I would let you do my hair anytime! Much love from New York! ♥️

Erin S: Psoriasis is such an awful condition to try and manage. The kind way you have treated this client speaks volumes about you and your character. I hope this lady finds a ways to manage it all better

Arie Jones: “I really took my time with her We we’re both happy at the end of the day and I got a new client for life” That part!!❤️❤️❤️

Holland Broadus: "we were both happy at the end of the day and I've got a new client for life." My favorite line

Yvonne S.: This makes my heart so so happy. African hair is do course and requires so much more work to maintain a hairstyle. Being white with naturally curly / wavy hair I have to straighten mine and care for my psoriasis and it’s daunting. It’s so unfortunate that some hair dressers won’t even touch you with this or make you feel bad about it. Thank you for being such a beautiful soul and helping her out. Love it !!

Melanie Brandt: You do an amazing job on your clients. I would love to go to you and get my hair done! You really know exactly what to do, how to handle the situation professionally and emotionally. You don’t create a scene or show disgust or have an attitude about the scalp condition. You treat the client’s issue with care and respect the result is a healthy scalp and beautiful hair. Thank you for taking hair stylists to another level and being so compassionate/knowledgeable!

Sunflower66080: She must feel so loved and respected now that she’s found you!

은지: Thank you for being so kind, I’ve been in contact with some not so kind stylists, and this makes me feel better about having this situation. Been dealing with both sebhorric dermatitis and psoriasis since I was a baby and I’ve always felt so self conscious of it

Jas: If you can’t handle “gross” looking genetic problems don’t go into any type of cosmetology work.

Emilee hettich: she’s literally so amazing to take such time and effort into something so many people find “gross” i love this

Trinity jones: aww your so good at your job :)) i love how comfortable you are with her, i used to have really bad dandruff and everyone used to be so disgusted but you cannot help it. this warmed my heart

Sherlock Watson: I wonder how much this whole process was? This video is dope, by the way. *:3*

dolphin5pineapple: I just found your videos and wanted to tell you that I think you are amazing! You are changing people’s lives and making them feel better about themselves and taking the stigma away from flakes and dermatitis that affect women who use weaves and tapes-in. People don’t realize the struggle.

Shy Be: This comment section is sooo wholesome I feel so warm and protected from negativity

Shatika Hollis: Love her dedication and compassion she has for her clients ❤️

Hash: You’re an absolute angel I have alopecia and very mild psoriasis on my scalp - I’ve been traumatised by the gasps of horror and comments hairdressers have made about my hair over the years - I wish I could find a professional that could help me like this in England. Love and light Queen

naw28878787: Watching this, I feel incredibly grateful for my hair. I dried my hair last night and was whinging about having to do it as I wanted to hit the bed. I used common cheap store shampoo, conditioner and a leave in conditioner. A cheap ass hair dryer and a cheap ass broken brush. My hair is soft, smooth, perfectly falls on my shoulder, smells and feels great! Sometimes, we really do not value God's gifts to us. I feel so thankful and grateful right now.

Denise Morrow: Her scalp looks good, psoriasis is a painful and embarrassing disease for people

Rebecca Dean: This made me cry. I have had severe scalp psoriasis since I was a child and I have NEVER met someone so understanding and kind about this condition. I eventually stopped going to salons because I kept getting lectured on how to wash my hair. ( I know how to wash my hair it is an autoimmune condition not poor hygiene.) Thank you so much!!!!

KIMBERLY BLAKE: You're awesome. It must feel amazing having a scalp massage like that after taking out a sew in. Great service and professionalism. xx

That Girl!: Wow, what a process! You're gentleness and thoroughness led to great results!

Jolee Zanes: Thank you for this! I've been dealing with these issues all my life and now I'm growing dreads. Wish me luck!! Haha! Let me just mention I soak in a tub with a mixture of Epsom/Dead Sea/Sea mineral salts every week and it helps a ton! I get it from my local health food store, but even just plain Epsom salts is magic if I'm on a tight budget. I highly recommend it.

FREYA329: Great work ethic on your part. I’m sure your clients are very thankful for all you do for them. Namaste !

Lexer Lex: Thank you for educating us and taking us through this process. I really like your professionalism, and walking us through it. Enjoyed this video, and how gentle you were with her.

Karina Martinez: Thank you for doing this, as someone who suffers with the same thing, I haven’t gotten my hair professionally cut or done in years because of this problem (insecurity of mine)! It’s comforting knowing someone out there isn’t disgusted and cares❤️

Crystal and Robert Dominguez: You are amazing! You go above and beyond for your clients. It shows how much you care about how their hair looks when your name is attached to it. I am a picker to!

Vanessa Baltazar: You are so amazing and God bless you for treating her even with psoriasis. I have scalp psoriasis to and a lot of people freak out or treat you differently as if I was contagious when all it is an auto-immune condition. I loved how you said I gained a client for life you sure did and you deserve it.!

Serena Perez: She is literally the nicest person in the world

Maggie Sexton: She seems extremely well educated and studied in these areas.

Kyra Carnes: “AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT” girl me too lmfao

Kat Baker: Wow, you are paid to do a job and turn around and treat them like they aren't even people? That's insane to me! I am so glad we have people like you who remember to treat people like human beings. <3

Ann Mor: Ms. K. Thank you for caring so much for your client. I know the other hair stylist saw and felt the raised skin after washing her hair. This client was in pain from all the scalp itching. THANK YOU FOR CARING!❤❤

Natasha Baptiste: I'm only 6 mins in but I already really like you and I'm subscribing to your channel. I've been struggling with a patch of my scalp and it's good to see someone maintain healthy hair despite this issue. It's even better to see such a passionate, respectful stylist.

Breezy Haiz: I appreciate people like you that don’t make people like us with this condition feel bad. I like you try to help and educate us even on ways we don’t know what we can do personal

Alexaundra Grayson: I’m so happy to see beauticians like you still around. I wish I could find somebody for life that cares.

A P: You are the nicest ever, your clients are lucky to have you. I didn't know alot of dermatologists didn't focus on hair. Currently I'm a fourth year medical school student and I wanna be a dermatologist, after seeing this video I will definitely be focusing on hair

Melanie H: Gosh you are just so professional and non judgemental. Refreshing and impressive.

ElementoDisidente: You're awesome. In addition to your knowledge, the care and attention to detail that you devote to your clients is obvious.

bahamashana: I always love watching your videos. I would have loved seeing you scratching up her active areas. Your clients are so lucky to have you. When you have skin issues, everyone is so quick to judge or treat you like you have a plague and not be able to see beyond your condition. Regardless of our physical imperfections we are all human.

Fatima Elzahraa Moustafa: When she said the reward was greater than the sacrifice and i got a client for life I wanna be her client too

ttelepathic: I love how she says we whent talking about her clients,it makes us feel like she is not alone thru this. c;

themaleka12: I’m not even grossed out, I have so much sympathy for her. It looks like it hurts sooo bad!!!!

Sandra Wright: Thank you so much for treating this young lady in such a caring and compassionate way we need more licensed professionals like yourself. I struggled with this with my daughter from a very young age maybe age 6-16. After all the dermatologist recommendations and shampoos. I ran across a YouTube video ( I wish I could locate the video this happened in 2016) that was the answer to our situation. Please understand I struggggggglllllled. But I wanted to share the $1.50 solution with anyone I can. It was “white vinegar” soaked in a towel and placed directly on the scalp. I know this may not sound right because the open sores and irritated scalp but after one time we got immediate results, we were so surprised after all the years the scalp was finally normal and a week later we went over a very normal scalp just to make sure we didn’t miss anything and never had the problem again. Peace and blessings to you all....I know the struggle and I want everyone to be healed.

Tara King: Thank you for being so kind to people like this.. they need help and too many people in this world would chalk her up as gross and lacking hygiene.. it isn’t that at all! Thank you for raising awareness AND being so kind and caring to help! It shows the heart you have and many more need a heart like yours!

thatlovelyseasonedfashion4ward Lao: I had to subscribe to you. I love how you love your clients by taking the time to fully help their hair along. And I cured my dermititis by doing the scraping method and putting less oil on my hair and having a better wash and moisture conditioning routine as well as much better diet.

MONTERROSA'S REMODELING: After watching this I'm going to wake up even more grateful to God every morning

Renee Wiseman: So many have this issue. Thank you for this video and your kindness and professionalism in dealing with it❤

Leah G: You have the sweetest personality and voice, how fortunate the client was to find you ❤️

Ziuz Pani: I'm so glad to hear someone talk about it in this way. I have it on my forehead, scalp, and my ears it drives me nuts and people always think it's because I'm dirty.

M E: You’re literally so sweet and very educated on the subject! You’re not grossed out nor do you make someone feel bad, and you actually take care of your clients. You are so amazing for that! I am going to subscribe to your channel. I have psoriasis myself. I know how bad it can get sometimes. Also her scalped looked so good after you worked your magic

Openor Wap: Ooh, that did look sore What a difference before and after. I'll bet it felt amazing for your client to let her scalp breathe afterwards. Thanks to you and your client for sharing, very satisfying to watch.

Elaine Everhart: You are amazing....your knowledge..empathy for the client really makes you stand far above the rest....thank you both for sharing this video...I really learned a lot!❤

Addy Marcus: you're such an amazing, compassionate stylist! would love to have a stylist like you someday <3 thank you for your video

Richie Beck: The world needs more people like you that care so much and actually enjoy helping people. The time you take on a client, and how very considerate you are of their feelings, and even how you remind your audience that if they suffer from this, that it's nothing to be ashamed of. Just, wonderful. Yes, I initially watched your videos because I am a picker and like to watch such things, but I'm staying and subscribed for you, your class, and your attempt at trying to soothe not only the physical aspect, but also how you so obviously care about the way another human being feels.

Nokss_Shilenge: This is so touching I wish you could be my hairstylist too. My hair and scalp is exactly like this lady's. ❤❤❤

Hai Chau: I love how she care so much about her clients

Peaches Christ: You are such a kind, understanding loving caring soul, your really changing these peoples life’s and not making them feel “gross” about their problem.. bless you wish you nothing but the best for the future my sweet, love from the uk

N C M: As someone with chronic psoriasis, including all over my scalp, this video has given me hope that one day I'll find someone who will treat me with dignity like you. I developed psoriasis 5 years ago and haven't had my hair professionally cut or coloured since because I have heard so many horror stories of people being humiliated. My hair is now almost at my waist and becoming pretty hard to manage, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet and brave a salon. Fingers crossed I find an angel like you ♡ Thank you for your respectful and educational video.

gage4g: She is so lucky to have a stylist like you. You did a great job.

Roddale Wynn: Shots out to you indeed! It warms my heart to know that there are still people out there who care. You didn't have to spend all the extra time on this woman's head but you did!! Such class!!!

Nicole Barrett: I was absolutely shocked when I saw you've got millions of views on these videos!! SO so proud of you girl, you're the only scalp picker / dandruff scratcher youtuber I watch, love u sm

Picachki: This looks painful and uncomfortable. But I’m so happy to see you treat your client so well. It’s great to help educate the public on things like this. Great job!

Kaitlyn Bifulco: God bless you. Your knowledge. And your very clear empathy for others. I have this issue. I had to fight to get a special shampoo that my insurance initially approved but then after a year began denying. It was traumatizing having to prove my issues. But welcome to my life. Thank you for being so patient and loving to your clients. God bless

Sherri Woodward: You sound like an amazing, knowledgeable and caring cosmologist.

TheElvenBeauty: Thank you so much for being so understanding, kind and educational about her condition. So many hairdressers wouldnt share the same compassion and would probably turn her away.

Eden: it’s so absolutely lovely how you’re just helping a sister out, no judgement or disrespect. you seem like such an angel

Isemine G: Guys lets be honest you didn’t search for this but you just got educated in quarantine

BlckstarBeauty Purpleprint: I LOVE THE APPROACH IN HOW YOU HANDLED THIS SO PROFESSIONALLY

vivi_ etc: this right here is an example of an educated black women!

Koffeh Cafe: Oh bless :( I'm glad you're educating us on this. I had no idea this could happen.

니키 ; niki: God that must have felt so good for her after you were finished.

grimlock smash: I'm glad that you were able to help her get to a better place with her hair. I wouldn't even think that it's a condition that could be helped, but you did so well. Plus, dermatitis isn't the same as dandruff, right? Dandruff is much less severe and easier to dissolve with the proper stuff without scraping it up.
