How To: Tape Hair Extensions (Remove Glue And Retape)

OPEN ME!

If you like what you have just watched, please feel free to leave me a comment and a like. It motivates me to make a lot more videos for you guys and girls :) Thanks.

This is a tutorial showing you how to remove the glue from tape extensions after they have been removed. I then show you have to re-tape/re-bond/re-glue the tape extensions you have at home. I chose to do this at home myself by spending $25 on purchasing hair tape, rather than getting it done in a hairdressing salon when it would have cost me anywhere from $200 - $500 (including re-installing them). In the next video I show you how to install tape extensions yourself, which will also save you bucketloads of money and after getting my mum to install mine, they have lasted longer than when I got them done professionally and I am happier with the placement on my head.

I have made this as simple as possible and it is foolproof!

All you need is:

Your tape extensions

Double sided hair tape (single or double width - I used double width)

Small scissors

Tweezers (to remove stubborn glue from your fingers)

An hour of free time and patience.

So, like the video says today, I am rebonding tape, hair extensions, I'm going to show you a process with ones that are already perfectly glue, free and ones that need their glue removed, so they should end up looking like that when you finish with them. I sorry about the cooking board, but I don't want to get excess glue on my table. So what you're going to need is some scissors, preferably small ones, to be easier to cut a pair of tweezers just in case and your hair tape. Now this is double-sided tape, but it's specified for tape, hair extensions so with the perfect ones that are already glue. Free, you'll, see that there's just no you'll see there's just no stickiness on them whatsoever. So I've got to get my angles right because it's tripping me accent on back and forth. So what I'm going to do because they're already perfectly glue free, I'm going to look for the rough side, because the rough side is the one that the tape goes on. So you can even see that that sides a bit rougher than that side, so I'm going to lay that one down flat. This is the rough side of this one. Now there's a couple of different ways that you can do this. It depends on how bendy the tape is. The tape on your hair extensions is so I'm going to peel out a section. That'S just a bit longer than my tape. Extensions are, and then I'm going to take the rough side and I'm going to make sure all the hair is pulled down. You don't want to hair all over the tape and you're going to match up the end, just loosely, don't really press it down or anything and you'll be able to work it again properly. So don't press it down fully yet so you take the rough side of this one as well, and you just match it up against the other one, and now you press them down now one's going to get a little bit more glue, probably a millimeter more glue Than the other one, because it's not an exact science, unless you want to get a tape measure but that'll, take your buddy forever, so cut the ends as close to the tape. Extensions as you can without actually cutting the taped extensions themselves and there you go so now we're going to do. Is I'm going to fold them like that, so you can see the little bit of white in the middle. I'M going to take my scissors. I want to make sure all the hairs down and I'm just going to do one cut right down the middle, and then you take your tape and you smooth it down, and you just. This is the time where you sort of just push it down and make sure that it's sealed really well to the extension or move it up. If you have to just sort of jiggle it around and there you go, you have a double sided tape. Hair extension. That'S ready to go into your hair as soon as you need it all right now. These ones are a bit longer a process, not really just probably about 30 seconds one minute longer to do, because when I took them out of my hair, because I took them out myself, I press them back together. Thinking are they going to stick to everything in their path which they would have, so I'm going to carefully pull them apart? You don't want to do this too fast, as you can see, when you stretch them out, see how they've got little lines that they're going to snap. You really don't want them to break so you're, going to pull them apart. You can leave them joined like that. If you want to it, doesn't really matter now, all I'm going to do with my fingers, I'm going to take the warmth of my fingertips and I'm going to work off the excess glue. That'S on that! Just let me zoom in now. I don't know if you're going to be able to see, but there's a lot of excess glue there. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to start at the bottom of the tape where the tape meets the hair and I'm just going to run my thumb up and you'll see the glue gathering at the top. You can see that there so drew that along the whole extension and then you'll see that book you'll see that you're left with glue on your hands beer. Now you want to do this up and not to the side, for the same reason that you don't want to pull the hair extensions apart too fast, because you don't want them to break these are very, very thin and fragile. That'S why they look so natural when they're in your hair, because they just lay flat, because it's just really, as you can see, there's just nothing to them. So you'll get a lot of glue on your hands and that's why I've got the board here. I just wipe it off onto the corner of my board so that doesn't get in the way. Some just take a second some take longer. You can see that they've got a lot of excess glue. So then, you just roll your fingers together all the glue into a ball put on the side of your table or whatever you're using it's okay, to leave a tiny little bit of glue left over. It won't hurt just don't leave big clumps or anything like that, because it'll stop them from. You know bonding together perfectly and your hair extensions won't last as long as you had before I slip out like I said before. This isn't an exact science you're just going to have to be patient and it takes a little bit of practice. I'Ve had a couple break already so now, I'm now I'm taking it painstakingly slow. So you can see that it's still got a tiny little few bits of glue like one there, but I'm not going to bother with that because it's reached it's a really fragile point. So now same processes before I'm measuring out my tape a little bit more than my tape extentions length, I'm taking the sticky side of my extension, making sure all the hairs smooth down meeting it to the end of the tape just pressing down on that bit. So that it's good anchor, sir and there you go ahead stuck on the tape, try not to touch the tape, try really hard not to touch the tape made it up the ends, don't overlap the tape, extensions, just let them meet in the middle like that press Them down now, don't fret, if there's a little bit of stickiness on the outside, that's only natural because you're using your hands to remove tape, that's leftover on them and then you just line it up cut without cutting the hair. That'S on there press them down a little bit split it in the middle cut, now press them down really hard and tight seal it all in and there you go two more tape, extensions which makes one that I thought I'd show you one more example of how To take the tape off, this tape is a complete slab of tape from one end to the other, so this one should be really easy to take off, so I'm just rolling up and for those of you who are at home thinking odd, I know the patience To do that, I you know I'd mess it up or anything like that. This process that I'm, that I'm doing takes about an hour for a forehead, okay and all I've paid for is this. You can buy this on ebay from anywhere from $ 5 to I think twenty twenty-five dollars this one. I actually bought off my girlfriend who's, a hairdresser and a hair extensions technician, and this cost me $ 25 and yeah. So this whole process is costing me $ 25. If you were to get this done in a salon, it will cost you pretty much $ 200, so for 10 % of the cost. You know, I think you can manage to do it at home as well as I can

Now I think I need to go longer and buy another - DO YOU DO THAT TOO!!"

Lynn W: Hi Anastasia! I just found your channel and I am enjoy watching your fun videos. It started with me researching tape-in extensions today, as hormone & thyroid issues have made me lose some hair. Your hair looks very healthy, so I have to ask how long have you worn the tape in extensions? God Bless & Congratulations on the upcoming arrival in November!.

graleh: Great video thanks! Does the tape hair extensions ruin your own hair? Does your own hair fall off easily and/or rip off? Esp. when you remove them?

HRHDMKYT: I've never used hair extensions before, but you make it look definitely doable, Anastasia! (I also never knew they were reusable). Your manicure looks great too. Thanks for the video! ~Diana

trueboo: Great video, thank you for making it, you answered my questions! :)

Lucy: Awesome video. I've never used tape only glue tip and microbead extendions. Recently brought some tape ones online so your video is great to show me how to tape them

Britney Barnhart: So helpful! Thank you for this amazing video!

Talula Holt: Love this! Thank you!

Madison: Love your video! very helpful! Just wanted to give some of my advice :) As you wear your tape hair extensions, you shed hair like you would even without wearing them. You lose roughly about 100 hairs a day  naturally however when you wear the extensions, the weft catches the hair as it has no where to go. So when you remove the tape the hair that comes with it is the hair you have been shedding as normal. Unless you yank on your own hair ripping your hair out from the root (which would happen even you werent wearing extensions) you aren't actually losing hair. Just the hair you shed on a daily basis. Tape extensions are NOT sewen on, braided in or glued to the scalp so the damage they cause is minimal to none and is actually recommened to those with fine hair because it's gentle:) .

Debra Thomson: thanks for sharing your information. I'm all for saving money. could you show how you put them in your hair? do you do it yourself at this point, after you've had them in and your reusing them or have someone else do it? thank you

70’s Fashion &Hair Channel: These extensions without the tape did you make them? and if so how did you remove the tape? and If I did this would I be able to sew them onto a wig cap to make a wig?

Claire Reynolds: I have just found these hair extensions coming on you tube and think they are great!! I know you said the tape you can get from ebay but where do you buy the hair from? Thanks so much for the video xx

Chelsea Kent: Great product for the price. Natural looking definitely recommend

Pursuing Positano: @sammybowen111 - thanks, happy new year to you too :) I am going to study mens hairdressing in May. And as for makeup and hairdressing in my videos? I just like experimenting with makeup and hair but I'm not trained in either :D

geneva: Hi, how many tape in extentions do you do you use for a full head? and thanks for the vidoe.

Pursuing Positano: Hey Lynn, I'm sorry to hear about your hair issues :( I used tape in extensions for about six months. If you are already prone to hair loss I'm not sure if these are the extensions for you as I always lost a small amount of hair when removing them. You're probably better off with non-permanent extensions like clip ins. If you have your heart set on permanent extensions, these are DEFINITELY the best and most natural looking, so your hairdresser will just need to be super careful removing them.

Pursuing Positano: @ExtensionsMagazine - These are factory tape in hair extensions, not weft extensions. As you can see in the tutorial, I am re-taping them as I had previously removed them from my hair and had to re-tape them in preparation for having them put in again. Simply applying hair tape to weft extensions is not what I've done here.

Bousy Alkholani: Good advice, nice work

Lea Seberg Fladstad: Can SugarBearHair Vitamins still fix my hair least after almost eight months even when I have only once tried tape extensions and gently tore them off my hair insted of extensions remover?

Haley Stupak: Great video! My extensions were a mess with glue. Any tips on how to keep extensions soft Mine get so tangled and dry

alena: does this work with clear tape?

Ator Talbot: You can retape and reuse the hair extensions up to 3 times then buy new ones!!

Pursuing Positano: @Reneelawrence666 - I actually get my mum to install them, thats how easy it is! I'm making the installing video so easy that even your grandparents should be able to install them (although I don't recommend it hahaha)

Linda Williams: Hi, Im wondering where you buy good quality tape hair extensions from? There are a lot of websites out there, its overwhelming!

Marielle Vincitorio: You make this look so easy to do yourself at home.

Claudia Scilipoti: can they extensions be reused after 6-8 weeks or do you have to buy more ?
