How To Clean And Reuse Your Tape Extensions And Keep Them Looking Like New!

If any of you are wondering what is the actual tape-in extensions brand I use, they are Glam Seamless. I bought the traditional remy tape-in 18A/60 20”. I bought the replacement tape there too: http://bit.ly/2Ovgqhr

Here are some links to all the other items I used. These are just products I personally enjoy, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand just make sure the conditioner is something very smoothing and nourishing like this one. You’ll also want to make sure the shampoo is sulfate free.

Hey guys, what's up welcome to my crib, I have been so excited to make this video for so long. I love hair. I love extensions. I have been wearing them for many years and just this past year I got into tape extensions tape. Extensions are crazy. High maintenance, everything about them, but one of the things that I think is a little tricky is just like how to reuse the hair. How to get it looking nice again so that you can put it back in your hair and still have it be in good condition and looking nice. So I feel like I came up with a really great method to do that, and so this weekend, when I was injured and just kind of stuck in the house, I thought why not I'll finally make this video and so I'm pretty proud of what I came Up with, I really hope you guys enjoy it just watch it all the way through. I really showed every single step and if you have any questions, just let me know but yeah thanks for stopping by and enjoy all right guys. Let'S do this so make sure you've got your hair, ready, you've got a paper towel, you got a razor blade, a hairbrush, and then I've got some hair already started on shampoo and conditioner. So first things. First, you want to pry those connected sections, pry them open, and you need to get all of that tape off, and this is really where that razor blade comes in super handy. You can just get right under it and you can see how I actually kind of use that paper towel to stick that nasty tape to, and then you can easily pull away the section of hair razor blade is really the easiest way to do this. That I could find because when you start getting your nails all in there, it's just so sticky and gross try to scrape off as much of the glue as you can, because if there's too much glue again, it's just gon na get all over the place. Get all over your hands and then it can actually make the new tape just kind of slide right off. So you want to just kind of get as much of it off as you can. That'S what I'm really doing here, the better of a job that you do here again, the easier it's gon na be for you to complete the rest of the steps and the longer that this hair is gon na last, when you put it back in your head. Alright, so next thing we're gon na do is shampoo the hair, I'm using bumble and bumble and visible oil shampoo. This is really good because it's got some oil in there, so it's just gon na help get some of that gummy glue out of there. So some of the sections, when you shampoo them you will see it looks like I'm kind of being rough with the hair. But you sort of want to do that, because I want to figure out which pieces the hair is in grow in really good condition stone and which pieces it's not so good. So you'll see I kind of make a separate pile for the hair that just comes up a little bit matted and just isn't super detangled like I want it to be, because trust me if the hair is already matting up just in a bowl where you've got Like good products on it and stuff, it's especially gon na get bad when it's actually on your head, so you'll see those matted up pieces. I mean I'm gon na just real quick, try to run a brush through them again, but if they're still not untangling at this point, basically I'm going to toss those pieces because all they're gon na do in my head is just tangle and I don't want that Kind of hair in my head: alright, so next we're gon na hit all that hair with some conditioner say: you'll see a gown, I'm using that Bumble and Bumble: invisible oil conditioner, it's really nice and silky just gets the hair in really nice condition. So I'm just running it through the hair roots to ends, and you just want to make sure that you really get it in there good brush it through with the brush and just leave it on for a few minutes. You cannot get enough conditioner at this point. Just put it all on there, you know it roots to ends more is more get as much on there as you can and leave it for a couple minutes. So next step is toning. The hair - you don't have to do this if you don't think that you need it. I just like your really ashy look to my extensions, so I don't put the purple shampoo, the joy code, purple shampoo. I don't put it directly on the hair just because that can be a little intense. So I just kind of do this and just keep going until I get to a color. I like be careful with that stuff because it can actually stain your sink a little bit alright. So next we're gon na rinse out the hair and just condition it all over again and then at this point you just want to go strand by strand and just get it on there really good roots to ends. Make sure you comb it through again and the better job that you do here. You know the better you'll be able to tell which pieces are bad versus which ones are good. So this stage, if you have anything, that's not detangling SuperDuper easy in the bowl. Just go ahead and toss that hair now, because it's not gon na it's not gon na be good on your head. It'S gon na create tangles and you're, not gon na, like it. Okay, so next up is just drying the hair, so I just basically rinse it out and lay it out on a really fuzzy towel. Just like you see how I'm doing here and I'm just gon na lay out all of them next to each other. Just like that, and then I'm actually gon na roll up the towel and just kind of smash it down, so that it really absorbs as much of the water that's in there as possible and then once you're done with that, I actually just flip the towel over And repeat the process on the other side just to get as much of the water out as possible and then just let it air-dry once the hair is air dried, I'm just gon na really quickly, Flatiron it and that's just gon na make it look cleaner and Butter just so that your hairdresser, when they're putting them back in your hair that can really see you know how long each piece is. It'S just it's just easier to manage and deal with when it's straight all right. So next it's time to clean up those bonds and apply the new tape on them. So what you see here, I'm just dabbing a little bit of hydrogen peroxide right on the bonds and then just drying off with the towel. And then I just take my replacement tape, which I also got from glam seamless and I just tape. Those on you'll see the tape it lines up perfectly with the bond. So, whatever brand your extensions, are you just want to make sure that you get the tape from the same brand? That way, it's just gon na make it easier on you lining up B. Then you tape and the better that you line it up the easier it's gon na, be for you to put this stuff back on your hair and just have less like glue, peeking out and stuff. So these worked perfect. They were exactly the same size as the extension pieces, so I'm just you'll see me repeating that on several extensions and that's really it simple process but takes a while, alright guys, so what to do to prep your extensions and get them looking nice again to put Back in your hair, these are going back in my hair later this week. Yes, I'm so happy anyway. I really hope that you found that helpful. I was thinking about making another video, maybe just to like talk about the different types of extensions I've used and which ones I like, which ones I don't, and so, if you'd like to see that, let me know, but anyway, I hope you have a great rest Of your day, and thank you for stopping by take care,

T: when I'm retaping, instead of applying the new tape onto the hair i take off the paper and put the hair directly onto it and it makes it so much more organized for me!

Alextferguson: this is honestly the best video about this that I've seen. xx

Deborah Wallace: My Stanchions are layered and face framing, this could be tricky trying to keep the original placement. In the future, it will be helpful, when I’m no longer layering it. Thank you

natalie hutchins: Good vid. This is the part I hate. U explained it well. I use butterfly clips that I labeled rows 1-7 and right and left side. Helps me organize them to replace them.

C M: This was great! Thank you!

Chanel Eden: Thank you so much for this!

Deborah Wallace: Great idea, with the blade!

fayruza lalany: What is the hydrogen peroxide for?

Jaime Sarpalius: what lip color are you wearing?
