Hello and welcome to episode two of my tape and hair extension series. So in episode one we covered the basics of tape and hair extensions, so what they even are, how they work, how long they last all that good stuff. So that's going to be an episode. One and in today's episode we're going to talk about how to buy tape and hair extensions for yourself, so how many pieces you need, how many brands, where you should buy them, how much they should cost all that good stuff and i'll. Tell you how much i paid for my hair extensions, how much i got for my hair type. So hopefully this video will help you, if you're looking to buy your own tape and hair extensions. So let's go ahead and get started all right. So let me pull up my receipt girl i'll put it up on the screen, so you can see my entire order. So what you'll see at the top is this glam travel kit, so that is just a gift with purchase at the time that i was shopping. They were doing a promo where, if you like, i think if you spend a certain amount or something you get a gift with purchase and i was like yeah so yeah i, it came with like a hairbrush some clips and like some hair, elastics and stuff. So it's just like a little thing, but yeah, that's what you see at the top there so underneath that you'll see the platinum ash blonde color 60 in the in busy tapes. So i did get two different styles of tape, ins which, which i'll show you in just a second. So don't worry, but just to show you. This is the pack of the ash blonde that i got so. The invisi tapes come in a pack of 10, so 10 pieces, so one piece is literally one of these and you need two pieces for one sandwich. Okay, so this came with 10 pieces and this is about 35 grams and yeah color 60, 20 inches. So that is what this looks like, and this cost 159.99 yeah girl all right and then next up you'll see two packs of the platinum blonde. One zero zero one - and this is the remy tape. So this is like the regular tape and extension style that you'll see in most places. So this is what this looks like, so these ones come in packs of 20 pieces. So again, this is one piece 20 pieces and they come in 55 grams. So this is 55 grams and 22 inches, and this is what it looks like next to my hair. So it looks like that. This is what the length looks like so 22 inches and each of these packs cost 164.99. So you can see. I used a discount code and my subtotal for shipping, so i am in canada. Shipping cost forty dollars and fifteen cents if you they ship from new york. So if you're in the states, i'm sure your shipping would be way less and maybe you might even get like free shipping or something like that. But that's how much the shipping was for me. So my total came to 456.63 and i know some of you might be like whoa. That'S a lot, but extensions are an investment, and that was actually a pretty good price compared to some other brands, which i'll show you in a second we're gon na do like a little price comparison. But let me show you the difference between the two styles that i got. So this is the regular piece. So this is one piece of hair extensions. They look like that and then at the top. The tape just looks like this. Now the invisi ones are so cool. I really wanted to try some invisi invisible tape and extensions. Okay, let me see i want to make sure you can see it on the camera, so i'm actually going to take off the tape. So you can see it even better so being busy. The hair is basically injected through the tapes. So i feel like with this if it was higher up, sometimes when your hair blows in the wind or something you can see, that band of the the tapes, but i feel like with these, it would be super seamless like it would look like it was just Coming out of your head, i do have roots right now, so i didn't think i was going to have them at the time that i did this, but you can purchase tape ins with roots, so that would have been an even better idea for me to do That because then it would have been super seamless like then it would have had the dark root and then it literally would have looked like it was just coming out of my head. So yeah i got being busies to wear a little higher up on my head, because sometimes you know when the wind blows, you might see them, so i'm gon na be wearing these a little bit higher up and then the regular ones i'm gon na be wearing. In the back, and if you want the girl at the store or like at the salon, so i went to their salon in new york back in february when things were open um i went to their salon by the way great customer service. I walked in no appointment and someone was there to help me like right away and she was super nice and she was like literally call the salon. If you have any questions at all, i'm like thank you, so she helped color match me and she also gave me the tip with so. If you're going to be using the invisis, you can also sandwich them with a regular one in the back to get more use out of them because they only come in a pack of 10. But if you sandwich them with a regular one, you can get 20 bonds out of them. Just imagine that, okay, i hope, you're still with me. I'M gon na show you what it's like to purchase these and how many packs you might need for your head. So, let's i'm just gon na get my computer out all right, so you might be like okay, that's nice for you, but i still don't know how many pieces i need for my hair so girl. I got you let's hop on over to my computer and i'll kind of show you my thought process when i'm ordering tape and hair extensions, so i'll compare a few brands and prices, and things like that, so i will start off with the glam, so glam seamless. This is what i was saying before: 20 pieces come in a pack, 55 grams per pack. So let me just go back actually i'll show you they have different types, so these are the remy tapens. These are the ones like the regular style that i showed you before, and then i also showed you the invisi tape ins. They also have these glam strands. So if you want to just add like a few streaks, you can get those or you can just get regular tape, ins and cut them. You can cut them in half and like in pieces, so you can totally do that and they also have some wavy ones. I actually haven't seen too many brands offer wavy, hair extensions or tape and hair extensions, so they do have these available as well. We'Re going to look at the remy, because this is the regular kind of style of tape and hair extensions, and they do have a bunch of different colors they have like highlights ombre rooted, like rooted, i kind of wish. I got the rooted now that i have roots, but at the time that i bought these, i did not have roots so and they also have balayage. So just for comparison, i'm gon na look at the ash blonde number. 60.. So, like i said they come with 20 tape. Wets. This is the color 60, i'm gon na choose 22 inches, and then here they have a recommended amount. So since i have thin hair, they recommend two packs. So i did get the two packs and i also got that pack of the dizzies, but essentially for the minimum amount. I would need two packs: the 20 20 pieces, each so 40 pieces, total 55 grams, each. So that's 110 grams total and that's like the minimum and then here you can see how much they recommend for medium hair and thick hair. So three packs four packs. So basically you're looking at anywhere from 40 pieces to 80 pieces for a full head of hair, and that is about so if two pieces make a sandwich. You just kind of like cut that in half so 20, so 40 pieces would be 20 sandwiches and then 80 pieces would be 40. Sandwiches makes sense right and then also just multiply the grams. So four packs of 55 grams is 220 grams for a full head of thick hair. Okay. So i hope that kind of helps you visualize it a little bit more, and this is one pack would be 247 and all the different kinds of colors are going to vary in price just depending on the way that they're processed, so just to compare some prices. Um this is beautyworks. This is another brand that i was looking into because a lot of influencers work with beauty work. So i was like, let's check them out, so i am in canada, but i changed it to us dollars because so we can like keep everything the same. So we can compare the prices all right, so we're looking at the 22 inch slimline tape extension. So this is the regular style of tape and hair extensions beauty works also has the invisi style as well, but right now we're looking at the regular ones. So if you scroll down, they have a few color options. So, let's pick one that kind of looks like an ash blonde. I feel like maybe this barley, blonde kind of looks. They also have this one. They have a platinum. I feel like this one kind of looks like the ash blonde. One pack is 300 and if you go up here, you can see that one pack has 48 grams and 16 pieces okay. So it's a little bit less per pack than the glam seamless and the price is a little bit more. So right now we're looking at 48 grams per pack and 16 pieces, so we are looking at a little bit less hair per pack than the glam seamless and it does cost a little bit more. So again, like i told you before about one head of hair, is about 100 grams, so that's two packs and that's like the minimum. You would probably want a little bit more to be honest. You'D probably want a little bit more like 150, at least so you're. Looking at either 600 or 900 minimum, if you're buying these ones so yeah it can get expensive, so these ones were a little bit out of my budget. So let's look at another brand, so this is bellamy. I'M sure a lot of you guys have heard of bellamy they're pretty popular as well so again for comparison, we're looking at the 22 inches tapens. These are the regular style as well ash blonde number 60 in 50 grams, and they don't tell you how many pieces come in a pack. So i'm not sure if it's like 20 pieces, 16 pieces but 50 grams is their pack and the price of that is 269.99. So and then, if you scroll down, they do have the recommended amounts as well, so for thin hair they recommend three packs. So again, that's like about the minimum. You would need 150 grams, so let's multiply that times three so you're looking at a minimum of nine 809. pretty much and then this is how much they recommend for medium hair and thick hair. So if you made it this far and you're like okay, i still don't know how much to get what color to get you can book a consultation with them, so they do offer like a facetime consultation. So a video chat, so they can look at you kind of like in real time or like real life, but like through a video and match you that way or you can send them a photo of your hair in natural light and they can match you. I feel like their customer service is really great, like i've emailed them. I'Ve dm them on instagram, they're really responsive. So those are a few options for you. So, just to recap: you'll need a minimum of 40 to 80 pieces for a full head, and that is about 20 to 40 sandwiches, okay, and if you're talking about in grams and say one pack of 20 pieces is 50 grams. You'Ll need a minimum of 100 grams anywhere from 100 grams to 200 grams for a full head of hair. You can obviously go more if you want to be more extravagant more more more more. You can definitely go with more grams and more pieces if you can handle that, but this is about like the guidelines or like that average guideline, and some things to keep in mind is if you have a very blunt cut, you're going to need more. You want to add another pack, just because you're going to be wanting to add a few more tapes, a little higher up just to blend out that blank cut. So, even if you have like short hair - and you were thinking about getting two packs get another pack, because you're gon na want to blend that bluntness, so you don't see like your hair end and your extension start, you want to be all seamless right, all right. Jana from the future popping in here, so yes, i did end up dying these pink. These are what the chapins look like i'll put in, so these are all the ones that i bought. So i did buy 50 pieces, so i have 25 sandwiches or 25 bonds in my hair right now and it does, i feel like it does look pretty good and it does blend. Let me kind of step back a little bit, so you can see. Let'S talk about the quality of the hair, i am really liking it. This is what it looks like whoa. So so far it's holding up really. Well, it's looking good, so yeah. I just wanted to pop in and show you guys that so let's go ahead and continue with the video all right. So i hope you're coming out of this video, with some more knowledge on what to look for when you're, purchasing tape and hair extensions. Of course, i'll leave links for everything that i mentioned in the description box down below and i hope to see you in the next video, where i'm going to show you how i put in my tape and hair extensions at home. So i'll see you in the next episode, thanks for watching you

Liz Hale: a really good way of knowing how many pieces you need is, if you ever wore clip ins... how many wefts did you use? and how many clips did each weft have? simply count the number of clips of the wefts you used and that's the amount of pieces you would need. So for me, I used foxy locks clip ins forever 160g... I have very fine hair so I only used half of them that it came with. It added up to 22 sandwiches (44 pieces) since the number of clips I used added up to 11 when I used clip ins. Good luck!

CynCynnati Anxiety: *Pause* can we just take a moment for some appreciation and gratitude for Janna (first time here girl) and how much time, dedication and love she puts into helping us with our journeys into the extension world? For me as a mom of 3 little boys and a DSP caring for the disabled- i bust my butt and give my all to everyone around myself and give my entire heart and I just feel like for Christmas, it would be so awesome to just gift myself a nice (new) experience with tape in extensions to color match my blonde hair (now beach blonde). I have used clips and dark ones but i haven't bought myself something reusable and feel good for years. I believe with all my hard work- it's finally that time. <3 I just want to give this woman love and appreciation for a little direction and assurance on my journey finding my extensions of choice and length ( I believe 22'' is beautiful) and girl...there are SOOO many brands, sizes, lengths, costs, color match, like everything that goes into it and available to choose from- UGH! It's a struggle girl. Trust me, you are so appreciated<3

Kristen Miller: I’m so glad I discovered you thank you for the information! I’m not a professional and I’m doing it myself. I had brain surgery and They shaved my bangs off and hair along the side of my face and the extensions are Lifesavers! I’m super super excited to have discovered the invisi tape ins. I just ordered some for my crown 2 sample packs, they are so super super cheap and I can’t believe I had never heard of this kind with the hair over the Shiny tape part! Thank you again you’re so fun to watch!

Anna Kozlova: Your video is the BEST one I’ve found. Definitely made me get them! So educated!

Serena Kay: I absolutely love your videos! I just found your channel and I subscribed right away! I have a few videos on my channel about my extensions and different types and I genuinely enjoyed watching this! You’re amaZing ❤️ I also love all of your art behind you!

Janna Wilson: Hey Janna, Thanks for the informative video. I am talking to my friend who is going to do them for me for the first time. Any other tips for a newbie. - Janna P.S. I looked below the video and realized that we have the same name!

The Daily Dose of Sarah O: Love this so much!!

Milahnia Hair: Love this video! Super informative

asy ba: I found your videos very informative. I just wanted to comment about my own experience since I am wearing tape ins for several years now. I bought Glam Seamless 2 years ago, and I (and my hairdresser too) was amazed by the quality and the longevity. But I placed 2 new orders last year and I was really disappointed : the hair quality has decreased a lot and the hair on the tape ins is much thiner. Also when I placed 600$ order, my card was charged several times! In the end, things were figured out but it was quite stressful... Following those disappointing orders, I ordered some Bellami Pro tape ins, and to my opinion, the quality is far more superior (the prices too... unfortunately!).

TL Banks: What did you think of the extensions after wearing them? How was the quality. Looking to purchase good quality hair extensions

kaits L: What are the pieces? my stylist recommended 5 packs for my head but then Im looking on websites where it talks about 60 pieces and packs. What's the difference or are the same thing?

Rachelle Kebaili: Do you do you own install? Or do you have someone install them for you?

Dominique Clément: Thank you

M Joy: great video!

Tia Tattoo: I keep running into the issue of so many places not selling to the public, like they require a hair dressing license number and stuff.

Masked Mama: “Aboat” means someone is Canadian

Ina in Oslo: I just got mine done 3 days ago and they hurt my scalp so bad. Can’t have it down because they are so heavy pulling at my scalp. What do I do?
