Hi everyone and welcome back to my channel so for today's video i am so unbelievably excited. I cannot even explain because i'm going to be taking you along with me to get my hair extensions fitted, i'm not actually going to go into too much detail about it. Now but i thought i'd bring you along to the salon and then after i've got the extensions in, i would sit and do like a bit of a q a and just tell you kind of what i think of them and all that kind of stuff. It'S actually tuesday, 13th of april today, and hairdressers in the uk have only just opened since being shot since christmas. The lady i'm going to she actually lives about 15 minutes away from me so not far, and my appointment is at half two and it's currently just gone two o'clock so we're about to leave. I went for a consultation a few days ago, where we decided on the color hair extensions that we're going to go for and also the length we ended up going for tape, extensions and we have ordered in the beauty works, celebrity choice. Tapes, i think hello. So i'm currently editing this back, and i have just realized that i went on saying how i was going to film some footage in the salon and i didn't actually end up filming anything. So if you guys are wondering where that footage is didn't actually film, anything completely forgot to set my phone up and film. So that's what happened with that. So it is currently the next day and, as you can see, i've got about six inches more hair than i had yesterday. I cannot even explain to you how unbelievably happy i am with them. I'M not gon na lie. I was a little bit nervous at first. Just because it is quite a big change going from hair that was like this kind of length to hair that is now so long. I can't even see it past the camera, but it was quite a big change and just in the days running up to it, i was getting a bit nervous. Just i don't know just about how it was going to look and everything, but i am so so pleased with them, and i think it is going to take me a little while to get used to having such long hair. Because i haven't, i don't think i've ever had hair this long. Even when my natural hair used to grow quite quickly. I don't think it ever grew this long. It'S very very long. I will search some pictures just because you can't see the full thing on camera right now. I basically just thought i would do a sit-down bit of a q, a just to kind of run through the process and any any kind of thing that i think might be relevant and that you guys might want to know. I know that when i was researching into getting hair extensions myself, there were a lot of questions i had and i wanted to find out as much as i could about the process and just everything to do with it. So i thought i would do a bit of a sit down a bit like a q, a just to talk about all of the things that i wanted to know when i was doing my research so starting off with the actual hair itself. I went with the beauty, works, celebrity choice. Tapes at first i was quite unsure whether or not to actually go with beauty works hair. Just because you tend to see a lot of influencers. Promoting beauty works products and i wasn't sure if they were just kind of promoting them and while actually using them, and it was just kind of like false advertising or whether or not they're, actually good products and good quality hair. When i went for my consultation, i spoke with my hairdresser and she said that beauty works does tend to be the best quality hair and it tends to last the longest and stay the healthiest. So we thought we'd go with that, and it'd probably be the best option. For me she did say, although it is very expensive, it is one of the best quality, hair brands and we'd probably be better off just using that in the long run, rather than using cheaper hair and having to replace it more often, this hair should last me Around a year, my hair extensions are actually 22 inches long, which sounds so so long and they are in the shade hot toffee on beauty works. We chose the color when i went for my consultation and luckily it was an absolute perfect match to my natural hair. Color, so it meant that i didn't have to dye it. It meant that i didn't have to do anything else to it, which was honestly an added bonus. I was really worried that we weren't going to be able to find a good match for my hair color, and i was worried that we were going to have to dye my whole hair and then choose the hair extensions color. And it would basically just be like an added cost having to dye my whole hair. First, the whole fitting process took around an hour and a half to two hours and i'm not gon na lie. I actually thought it'd be way longer than that, because she's obviously putting in individual strands of hair - and i just thought it would take absolutely ages but an hour and a half two hours that was including cutting and styling the hair and everything. So it actually ended up being not as long as i thought. One thing she did keep saying to me was that she has never fitted hair extensions on a client with such thick hair i'll insert a before picture of what my hair looked like, because we took some before and after pictures just to compare. But she did say that my hair is so unbelievably thick and she spent a really long time actually thinning it out, so that the hair extensions would blend a bit better. I think people tend to get hair extensions when they've got really fine hair and they want to make it thicker and they also do want to get some added length. But for me i didn't really want any added thickness, just because my hair's so thick already. I did just want it for the length because my hair was getting to a point where it just wouldn't grow anymore. It would get to a certain point and just stop going and i couldn't go any more and for so long i've just wanted to have nice long hair. I didn't actually film anything in the salon while she was fitting. The extensions just because went in sat down kind of just got started with the process and i completely forgot to set my phone up, so i don't actually have any footage from the process of them. Being fitted, but my hairdresser did actually take like some midway pictures and what it looked like halfway through and what it would just kind of look like as it was going on as we were fitting them. So i will make sure to be including those in the video, because i do have such thick hair. It meant that i actually needed more hair to be able to kind of balance it out and to be able to blend it. With my own hair. The beauty works, hair comes in packs of 50 grams i'll insert a picture here, but it comes in packs of 50 grams, so i actually needed four of those. So, in total, i've got in my hair 200 grams of extensions, which sounds like a lot. When you do go for a consultation, you will be told how many packs you need, and my hairdresser did give me the option to order in the packs myself and do it all online, but i just thought it'd be easier for her to do it. She also got um like a salon hairdresser discount as well, because she was a registered beauty, work stylist, so she got a bit of a discount which actually helped and it worked out cheaper in comparison to. If i was older than myself, we chose to go for the tape extensions just because they tend to be the best method for your natural hair and actually the least damaging the tapes are super lightweight and honestly, i run my hand along my hair and don't get Me wrong: you can feel where the tapes are kind of put in place, but they literally like completely flat to your head, like you would not realize that i've got anything extra in my hair. The tapes are actually meant to be better for your natural hair because they sit as like a little strip on a bigger piece of hair than maybe like a nano ring. Would i know that the nano rings are really really tiny and they kind of tug on strands of hair and tend to break it a bit more? I think, whereas wear tapes are so lightweight and they kind of cover more hair than like a nano ring. Would they're actually better for your natural hair? They'Ve been super comfy so far, i've had them in for 24 hours. Now and honestly i feel like i am getting used to them, but it's just gon na take a little bit of time because she did say to me: she was like you've got 200 grams. Extra hair adds your head, like is a bit more weight. I think i might also film, like a six week, update on how i've got on with them, how i found them and just kind of answer, any more questions on them. So my hair obviously was fitted yesterday and she did say to me that you can't wash your hair for 48 hours. I think, just while the tapes set and kind of stick in place because they are stuck down with glue and the glue is already on the tapes when you get them. So she didn't need to put anything on you just kind of stick them on as the glue is already on the hair but yeah she did say to wait around 48 hours before you wash your hair for the first time. Just so the tapes are secure and in place, so that is everything in terms of the fitting process. So now i thought i would go on to the aftercare, so i think one of the biggest and most important things is to make sure that you have a soft bristled brush and she basically said this is because a normal brush or like a comb or something. If you're brushing throughout your like whole head, a normal brush, would kind of pull on the extensions and pull them down your head, whereas a tangle teaser is a lot better for them, because it's a lot softer. It'S a lot more gentle and it won't tug on the extensions i actually already have my tangle teezer. I'Ve got this one with a handle. She said the ones with a handle are actually better because it means you can kind of reach around further and you're not pulling on the hair too much so yeah. If you are wanting to get extensions, you do need to have a tangle, teezer or a similar hair brush, just because they are the only ones that are good enough for the extensions and basically you need this to be able to care for them properly. Tangle teasers are only like tenor, they're, not very expensive at all and honestly, i think they're so worth it because they do genuinely hurt so much less than a normal hair brush. When you're brushing your hair, it feels so nice brushing such long hair. I cannot stop brushing it. I really need to stop brushing it so much because i don't want to make it go like funny in terms of shampoo and conditioner, for when you wash your hair, you need to use a sulfate free shampoo, and that is because it will basically damage the hair Extensions, if you just use like a normal drugstore or sulfate shampoo, so my hairdresser just recommended me. The beauty works extensions, shampoo and conditioner they're, specifically designed to be used on this hair. So i thought i want to look after them, so i may as well just buy these, and hopefully it will make the hair last a little bit longer. These were actually quite expensive for shampoo and conditioner um. They were 12 pounds each. So i paid about 25 pounds for these and they are only 250 ml, so i don't think they're gon na last too long and she just say because i've got such thick hair. I probably will need quite a lot. I thought i would get a smaller size because they do actually do one liter bottle, so i thought i'd get a smaller size. Try it out because i didn't want to buy a massive bottle, not like it, and then i've just spent all of that money and i wouldn't ever use it. So i thought i'd try these ones out. If i like it i'll, buy the one liter. If not, then i'll try out a different one that she recommends. I actually just bought these from beauty bay. You can buy them from lots of places like that. I think they do them on look fantastic and also you can buy them from the beauty works website, but i am yet to see how i get on with these. I'M hoping it will be perfectly fine and i can carry on using it, and i just think i want the hair to last as long as possible, because at the end of the day it is an expensive process and it is an expensive thing to have done. So i want the hair to last as long as possible and be able to just stay in a really healthy condition for as long as it can, i'm still able to use any hair sprays or any hair oils that i might want to use. I think just any of them are fine beauty. Works, do sell their own hair oils and their own hair sprays, but she did say that any drugstore or any normal ones are perfectly fine um. So i'm just going to stick with the ones that i'm using. I think i just use um like a weller, i think it's called um the hair brand willa. I use that hair oil just to smooth my hair down and smooth the ends down and i'm pretty sure i just use a ghd hairspray that i've used for ages. Anyway, you can also use any heat protector spray that you like. I am just going to carry on using the one that i use. I use a ghd one that i've again just used for a really long time, but she did say that heat protector is one of the most important things for looking after your hair. Just because, if you're going to be putting constant heat on them and like styling them, then you need to be protecting the hair, because at the end of the day it will just get damaged. Otherwise, my hairdresser did also say that it's actually best to sleep with your hair up where it's so long. She said that it's going to be much more likely for the hair to get matted and just become really really knotty and you're going to have to be really really brushing it out, which is just going to damage the hair. So she did say: try and sleep with your hair in plaits or even just tie it back with a scrunchie or something just so that it's kind of out the way and it's not getting too tangled. I'M also going to try and wash my hair around twice a week, which i do actually do at the minute. Anyway. I have quite thick hair, so i don't need to wash my hair too often, so i think i will probably wash it twice a week still and she said that should be perfectly fine, because you don't want to be doing it too often, just because you don't Really need to, i am quite nervous about washing it for the first time, just because i don't know what it's going to be like, and obviously i've got the tape stuck into my head. So i don't really know what it's going to be like and i'm also not sure how easy it is going to be to blow dry my hair, because, obviously it's so much longer, so it's probably going to take me way longer than normal. Now i was really undecided on whether or not to actually include the price of the hair extensions in the video, but i thought when i was researching and watching youtube videos that is kind of the main thing that i wanted to know. I wanted to know the price, because it is an expensive thing and you want to know how much it's going to be costing you. You don't want to kind of hear all of this information and then not really know like how much it's actually going to cost. You so i thought i would include it in the video just because it's helpful, it's helpful for you guys. If this was me watching it, i would want to know how much everything was costing. I'M not gon na lie. You could just go straight onto the beauty. Words website anyway, and see how much the hair actually costs. So for my shade and length hair, it actually costs 142 pounds per pack of hair, so i needed four packs of hair and i wasn't actually expecting to need that many i was hoping it would be. A bit less, which would obviously make the cost a little bit less, but we did actually end up needing four packs of hair, so my hairdresser actually got a discount on that. I think it was 15, so the total, with the hair plus the amount she charged me for fit in the hair. The total came to 570 pounds which don't get me wrong. I know it sounds like so much money. I told my parents and they were like. That'S a lot for some hair, it is a really expensive process and i think i was underestimating how much it was going to cost. I was kind of hoping around, maybe 300 350 and it just ended up being a lot more, but i thought to myself: i've wanted this for the longest time, i'm just gon na. Do it try it out and yeah. I can reuse the hair the hair lasts for up to a year, so you kind of invest and pay the majority for the hair. And then, when you go for refitting, it is so much less. I think my hairdresser charges 80 pounds for removal and then refitting the tape. So realistically you kind of pay all of the money for the hair up front and then for the rest of the time, you're just kind of paying a certain amount. Every now and then my hairdresser recommended refitting of the hair every eight to ten weeks, just as the tapes will grow out and they'll start to become lower and as they grow lower down your head, they might start to become visible, so she recommended eight to ten Weeks so that will mean me going to the salon she will just remove the tapes. I will then go back whenever i book my appointment, for she would have put a treatment on the hair and re-taped them so they're, basically just ready to go back in exactly like this. The maintenance price isn't too bad. I don't think, and for every eight to ten weeks i don't think 80 pounds is too bad just for the whole thing she will refit them and kind of treat them, which i don't i don't think is too bad at all. I think that is pretty much everything i wanted to go through. So please, let me know down in the comments. If there are any questions you have at all, i will be happy to answer absolutely anything just because i feel like i probably have forgotten something. Also, let me know down below if you would like to see maybe like a hair extensions, hair care routine, because i'd be more than happy to film one.
