I've had bangs a few times in my life, as has Bailey. While I love bangs, it is always a tough transition style-wise when you want to grow them out again. How can you still get the bang look, without the long-term commitment?
We are going to review three faux bangs or fringe sets today, each are clip-ins and the marketing on them is fairly good. I wanted to give them a try, in our standard "Fab or Fail" format and see just how good (or bad) they are!
Some claim to be real hair, so they can withstand direct heat from a curling wand or hair straightener. Others are obviously using synthetic hair. One of the challenges with buying any hair substitute product online, including hair extensions, is getting a great match to your hair color.

( upbeat pop music, ), Hey guys, It's Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles and I got bangs. What do you guys think? Do you like'em Woohoo? I mean my girls were telling me. They thought I would look cute with bangs, so here we go. Just kidding Today. We are going to be doing a fab or fail on fake bangs everything you guys wan na know from what type of hair where to buy'em. Do they really work? Can you make them work? Can they look good and anything else. Now, let's talk all things: bangs., Okay, so the first thing I did when I started thinking about doing a fab or fail on fake bangs was order some online. So I actually ordered four different types of bangs online.. I got'em all off Amazon.. They ranged in price from $ 3.99 to like $ 7.99 for the most expensive one, so none of them are very expensive and I think the $ 7.99 one even came as a set of two.. You know when you're ordering online you're kinda guessing on colors.. Now I picked what I thought was obviously the best for my hair color.. I have a little bit darker roots., You can see. My ombre is starting to grow out needs to be redone, and so I have some highlights.. This was dark brown on one set of bangs, and you can see the coloring is not quite right for my hair on that one.. This was another set. I ordered and again the coloring is a little bit too dark for my hair. Color. Third set was a little lighter in color, so I thought maybe this one's gon na work, but then, when I put it against my hair, it actually is a little more red than my hair, but it's pretty close. That one's a lot closer and the last One which I thought was actually probably the best was this set.. I don't know why I say set. They're not really a set, but this bang and that one's I feel like the very closest to my hair color. If you just look at it, and so probably the most believable, so my first piece of advice on this one would be that it's sort of a guessing game. You're, just kinda luck of the draw.. It'S like buying extensions.. You just never know what color you're really gon na get so you're, probably gon na end up buying more than one.. That'S tip number one., Okay, so number two.. All types of hair are not created equally. So in my hair bags I have some that claim. They'Re actual human hair based and some that are synthetic., This one says it's synthetic.. The synthetic are not going to take curl if you want to touch them up with a flat iron or a curling wand, or anything it's not going to work as well. On the synthetic hair as the human hair, so just keep that in mind. This is the Aoert.. It'S A-O-E-R-T. Came literally in this baggie, just like this.. There were no instructions whatsoever, so I guess we're just sort of figuring it out. Ourselves. Comes with a clip on the back. You can see that and the hair clip's actually facing backwards.. So a lot of times, hair extensions, you lay them against your scalp and then you kinda push them back forward like that. This one you're, actually literally just gon na, go push it back and snap it in.. What I'm gon na do is sort of just make a little nest for it on my hair and we're just gon na kinda clip it into the front of my like we're. Gon na try to get a good bite with that clip and put it in there. Okay. And then what you wan na do is sort of just have your hair fall around it so that it blends your hair with the fake hair and actually sort of looks Like bangs., That's the goal., So here's clip in number one and you can see that the bangs don't want to lay like perfectly., See how they kinda have a funky curl, maybe from how they got shipped or something.. So I'm actually gon na flip on the hair. Straightener and just see if I can touch it up, really quick and how it takes to that., But this one I mean it's decent.. I don't think it looks super realistic. I guess, but it doesn't look. Awful. Like if I put in a headband. I dunno. What do you guys think, Let's try putting a little heat on it and see how it does. So with the heat I just sort of want it to lay a little bit flatter, maybe a little more straight sort of look a little more realistic and you can See the hair did not like the heat so now they're just really straight and funky., So this must be made out of synthetic.. I can smell the way that it's curling, it's just not doing well with the straightener at all, so keep that in mind. You kinda just have to wear them like you're gon na get'em, or this happens.. What do we think? I think I would not wear that. We're gon na go also with another wispier pair., This one's made by Smilco, and it again came with no directions whatsoever.. This one does say that it's synthetic hair and again same kind of clip and it pushes up against your scalp same exact type of layout as the last ones. Okay., So there's clipped in. Let'S see if I can hide it. Again, don't think this is quite the right color for my hair, but I dunno.. What do you think? Is it any better than the first one? I feel like it's about the same.. Let'S try a headband.. We put a headband in.. What do you think? I actually feel like that one's a little better.. I still don't know if I would wear it especially'cause I feel like it doesn't match my hair color, which is totally annoying but again they're laying a little funky, and I can tell just by touching this. This is synthetic hair as well. So if I put the flat iron on it, it's just gon na do all kinds of funky things. So I don't think that's a good idea.. Okay, this one was Reecho is the brand on this one.. It actually came with some directions. Yay, And this is the one that came with two sets of hair. Okay. Now this one is the clips the reversed way. So this is you put it in and then push it down forward.. I dunno because I feel like this is way far back.. Okay, put it in. Push it down., Try to really get it in there., Clamp, it. Whoa.. I feel like that's a lot of hair.. Obviously again, color is an issue on this one big time.. This one sits back further. This piece does., The others, sat more like right, here., This one's back, even further. They're, making my fingertips a little bit brown, and I don't know about these things.. I think these are supposed to look like you have pretty layers that just blend, but I kinda feel like they just look like a hot mess.. I dunno, if there's any saving this one., Maybe if we tucked, if we tucked this totally away, would that be better? Let me check.: Well, that's better., Getting rid of those side pieces for sure.. It'S definitely a lot. Thicker bang., The others were like more sparse and sort of like I dunno a light bang, and this is definitely a heavy bang.. So, let's put in a headband and see what we think. Okay, this one just out of curiosity, because it does sit so far back on my forehead and because it has these weird side pieces and since they sent me two, I actually cut the second one.. I cut off the long pieces and just trimmed them up a little bit see if they would look better if they sat up further ,'cause stuff like this, you can take in to a hair cutter when you get your hair, trimmed and they'll cut them for you. So I was gon na try and see if this made it any better., Let's see, find out. Doesn't sit back as far. Trying to get it tight enough against your head., Okay, okay, I think we got a good grab that time. Now, let's see if we can Just hide it with my own hair now you'll all see we don't. We cut the weird side pieces, so we don't have those, so it lays a little better.. If I added a headband and pretend they were the right color, because obviously this one's not the right color, but does it look real? Can you tell that they're sitting on my forehead, I do like'em better. Just for the record, with the side things cut off ,'cause those are kinda funky and cut up trimmed up. So that was a good idea on that one.. This set of bangs is called Rossy & Nancy, and this is Brazilian human hair. It says, and it did come with a little instruction pictures., They actually say to pin it down, which I don't know why you'd want it pinned ,'cause, then you can't hide things as well., But this one's way back on my forehead, like crazy back on my forehead, Like halfway back on my head, which I dislike and I still am drowning in bangs. - That's so long., Okay, I've got to trim these up because they're so long, it's ridiculous.. Okay, so I went into the bathroom `. I took my hair scissors and I cut probably an inch inch and a half off the bottom of the bangs.. I decided to leave these just to see what it would look. Like.. The hardest part is getting the clips really tight down against your scalp so that they wan na lay flat. So kinda, reaching back pulling my hair out of the way and just really trying to get those down into my scalp and then there's a third clip right Here that I put in very last just once, I feel like it's kinda positioned correctly, then I snap that one down. Okay., So I'm gon na just pull my own hair around.. You can obviously see the color is 1000 times better.. This is the right color. For my hair., Let's adjust here accordingly and you can see that it's mixing pretty well this time, like those edge pieces, are mixing with my hair, much better., Okay, so there you go., I also just so you know, because when I cut it it was a little Thick so I point I did point cuts just on the edges just to try to make them lay a little flatter and not look quite as thick.. I feel like this side's still leaning down a little bit, so let me pull this one up a smidge. So let's try like if I was gon na wear a headband. There.. Can you tell I do feel like these blend a lot better? In my own hair., Like I mean I could take a flat iron.. The flat iron is doing better on this as well, because it's real hair, not synthetic. Like I do feel like. I could flatten these into my own hair and you would probably hardly even be able to tell they were there, which is great and let's try just for kicks and giggles. This is by far my favorite on me because just the hair color matches and I think that it looks the most realistic.. I don't think you'd wear these every day. If you wanted bangs every day, you'd just cut'em, but I feel like this would be a fun way to just change up a look almost like an accessory to an outfit.. So I am gon na just play with a few things on my hair and see what it would look like. If I played with things. ( sparkling jingle ) There, you kinda have a ponytail-ish look with bangs., It's kinda fun, just for something different, and if you wanted to mix it up even more, you could do a messy bun with a cute rabbit, ear scrunchie. I look like that. ( sparkling jingle ), I mean if you even just wanted to leave it like that, but I was thinking it might be cute to cross'em up and over. And if you pinned'em down give yourself a nice little crown braid with your bangs in and see what that looks like.. So you can see. I do feel like these look, the most realistic for sure., Okay, guys and then just for fun. I tried a bandana look which ended up. I think turned out really cute. Anything that kinda helps hide. That top bit is gon na make it even more realistic. So this is sort of the final look and I actually think these bangs didn't turn out too bad.. Okay, guys.: Let's do the final spin., ( upbeat, music, ) And spin. And around. Leave a comment down below.. I wan na hear what you guys think.. Do you love'em, Do you hate'em? Do you think they look believable? Do you think they look totally unrealistic? Would you ever wear them, So I think that I'm gon na give it and overall fab, and this is why, because it's really fun to just change your look and change your hairstyle and your the whole shebang without the actual commitment of cutting bangs and dealing with All of that and the grow out thereafter. So for just a total fun change of pace, change of scenery on your hair, I'm gon na give it a a fab.. There is a slight caveat in just that. You need to go into it, knowing that it might take a couple sets before you find one that matches your hair color or you might just have to do like I do and actually just trim it yourself to kinda mix it up and make sure it works. But once you get it set super fun., So fab. There you go. Fab guys. Like the fake bangs.. Personally, I have real bangs for years and love them(although it can be a maintenance at times), but this is a great idea for people that want to give it a go without the commitment. It's also fun to trick friends into thinking that you did cut your hair.

T2andC3: I don't usually have bangs, but I have some grays and when I'm not quite ready to get my roots touched up, I've been known to cut my own bangs because the grays don't show as much when I have bangs. For some reason my grays are more visible in the front by my forehead than they are everywhere else. So these would be perfect!! I think I'm going to give them a try. Thanks for the video!
