This haircut today is going to be a inspired sort of textured choppy bob in three ponytails. That'S finished result, hello, everybody how we doing welcome back to the channel. If you are new hit that subscribe button, give it a thumbs up and don't forget, to comment down below what you think to this video. This video is going to be a quick three ponytail. I know all of the ponytails but they're super quick super easy, but it's a great way to be able to show young hairdressers what elevation over direction does to create these haircuts. This haircut today is going to be a inspired sort of textured choppy bob in three ponytails, and it is going to give you a really nice strong, baseline, a line so like a triangular triangular, triangular sort of look so short at the back and then just cascades. Over the shoulders and my mannequin has no shoulders, but you can see already she's already sectioned out so one ponytail at the bottom, one at the top of the backing in the crown and one on top i'll show you you can see here. We'Ve got a ponytail here. This hair is over directed back, which means what we're going to keep is a lot of length around the front, because this is traveling all the way back there and to be cut around about the the sort of the bottom of the neck. The shoulders as such. So what that will do is once that's released that length, which is taken all the way back. There is then going to be sort of sitting around about here, but this back piece is going to be sitting there. It'S going to look beautiful. What these two do is this is going to be a layer, so we're going to use this as a guide. This is going to come up and then be a guide, and then this will come up and be a guide reason for that is because we're going to be elevating each section and we're going to be pulling out at 90 degrees. We know we're going to be layering, so there's a there's, a there's, a line, sorry between layer and graduation. Anything below 90 degrees is graduation. Anything above 90 degrees is a layer, so we'll be layering today and what that will do is it will give us a really nice textured bob think alexa chung think who else have that? Really sexy bob like fern cotton, if you're from the states um who, in the states lauren conrad, maybe really nice, textured bob, there's somebody else, that's on the tip of my tongue, but i can't remember who it is, but i'll pop some uh inspo pictures in here. So you can see what i'm talking about and i'm gon na get on with the haircut but yeah. Thank you so much happy new year as well. Happy new year to everybody, that's joined the channel. I was just going through comments just earlier and i see there's a lot of newbies on the channel, so thank you so much for joining joining this journey. My main goal for this year is to hit a hundred thousand subscribers. That is my goal for 2022.. I'Ve got some other exciting stuff happening which was going to be a goal for like later on, but it's already in motion, so it's all very exciting uh with digital education as well, so you guys can join in whatever i hear i'll put it in my community Tab but also i'll, be doing videos on it and stuff like that to let you know and keep you all up to date with what i'm getting up to, but yeah we're back in the salon. Now i've just finished my shift and now i'm down here in the studio, which is just a nice little room where i'll do all my haircuts for you so like, let's get on with the haircut alright guys. So what we're going to do is i'm just going to flip that top ponytail over just to show you the sectioning, so sectioning is a horseshoe section to below the crown, so occipital bone is about there crown's about there. So it's a point which is bang in the middle of the crown and the occipital bone, and what this is. Is it just follows round into the recession points on the mannequin or on your client? If you do something like this, i wouldn't i wouldn't necessarily do ponytails on clients, but if you were looking at how we were going to do this, you would section off like this bump it out the way and then, as we work through our sections, we can Then do it and if you were thinking of doing this on a client, you would section off like this. So a horseshoe section - and this exposes all of that underneath to be pulled back and clipped out the way and what you could do is when we start you could be pulling it all back to an a-line section, blunt bob section section section. So all of this would come down and be pulled back to this point. So i'm going to find my point there, which is the the neck and that's going to be my guide. Thank you and then, when we work on this piece, this will be elevated but then, like i was talking about this will come to meet this, so we're actually going to be elevating this, but this is going to be coming down. So when you look at it, you think oh graduation, but where we're working from is again we're going to be pulling this up to here and then this will be coming to here. So then that will come out to 90 degrees and that will be our guide. So that's where we're going to layer but as you can see, horseshoe section all the way around you can see there and then what i did just passed. I like to work at the high point of the head, because i think it really complements because everyone's got different head shapes. I think it really complements when you work with these sort of flat planes of people's heads, but i've just gone slightly further back because i wanted to have a bit more length through here. So we've got something to play with so high point of the head is basically sitting around about where that ponytail is sitting, so we're about an inch behind that and then that's sectioned off through there, and that gives us this section. So we'll do a horseshoe section to that point, just built just in between the occipital bone, and the crown gives us that point of reference to section two and then i will draw that across here to isolate that and isolate that front piece, which then leaves us With all of this, underneath exposed to section out the way clip out the way, i'm gon na be showing you a really quick way, because you guys seem to love these ponytail haircuts, and i think it's just a really effective way to show you these haircuts really Really quickly, rather than going section by section through it, it gives us it gives us a very, very similar result as to what we would do. It'S just not seen as professional in the salon environment. There'S a lot more work involved in probably uh refining it because you're working in these sort of chunky sections, but it just gives you an idea of if we over direct this back and down we're going to maintain length at the front when we bring this to Meet this we've got our guide, which is then going to create a bit of graduation but a layer through there, because then we bring this up here. That comes to me and then we create the layer and because it's all over directed back, we maintain the length around the face, which is what we want to do. So i'm going to get a clip clip out of the way. So there we go so just going to detangle if there's any tangles in there and then we're going to get our our length and i want it to be textured. I want there to be a lot of movement in this haircut, so i'm just going to pull it down and i'm going to work from there if we get our guide being the neck there there we go, that's cut off, let's take this top section or back Top section out just get it detangled, because if the ponytails or your sections aren't detangled and you're pulling back you'll no doubtly have some longer pieces. So we're elevating this here, 90 degrees and then we're just pulling it down to meet there. So, where we're going to go there and we've met that underneath section, and it gives us that nice there, so you can see shorter longer. So you know we're gon na have some some texturing layers in there. This last section super quick. This is we bring this back detangle again and we're pulling straight back 90 degrees, but over directing this backwards, we're going to bring this ponytail up to meet it, and if you look at how much is coming off, i've got what about five inches, but nothing too. Thick so there we go, and that is it guys, so that's the haircut done we're going to pull it all out, we're going to just dry it and create this texture in there, and you can see how beautiful this bob looks. Um, just really raw, so pull that out. You can see let's flip this forward, so you can see the shape on me. There. Look at that sitting perfect, let's open it up a little bit, you see short through here, gets longer towards the front, so you can see they're shorter here longer towards the front, but look at that texture in there already. Let'S pull this next one out. Okay, look at the texture in there and then last one: let's take her off and give her a oh give her a shake. You can see all that texture in there. So you've got these short pieces around here, but we've got that length through the sides, which is our bob shape. If you can see that through there and there's all of that texture and layering through the rest of it, so i'm gon na get it dry. So you can see what it looks like as the finished result. So when it comes to the refining, what we want to be doing, we don't want to be taking length away, but we want to be looking at where those ponytails sat and you can see so we just want to be point cutting into there just to soften Off the look - and we want to be bringing it back to where it was living and what i mean by that is where the hair was pulled to to cut the original section i'll refine one side. So you can see how one side sits. So this right hand side i'm doing now. I will just refine this, so all the hair was directed backwards and we're just loosening all of that up, not taking length away. My scissors are going in horizontal to the hair and, if i was bringing it up to the ceiling, they'd be going in vertical to the section. So there's just a little bit of refining done. You should be able to see the difference. How smooth that side is sitting in there and then this side just needs refining, see that shape there graduation into layer. You'Ve got just a really nice textured movable bob. Now, when it comes to styling, i'm going to be curling with uh, i want to say a shout out to also alpha italia for sending me over a load of their tools to use i'll just use the alpha, italia, brush and hair dryer. I'M going to use alfie's alpha italia, straighteners, just to add a bit of curl, but when you're doing bobs and you're curling barbs, you don't really want to curl this too tight because it will start to protrude. It will start to get bigger, which you want to put in a little bit of a bend into these ends. So then, when we curl the top it'll blend in better. So what i'm going to do is just be grabbing some little pieces and just adding that little bit so we're keeping that nice and flat, but we're just going to be twisting those ends. A little bit gives us that little bit of movement and doesn't expand the shape too much, i'm just going to brush it out. While it's just cooling down, because you can see, it's got that little bit more movement in there again, just those ends and just twizzle them around with your fingers and thumbs, and that gives us a nice perimeter of texture through there. Give us that nice flat wave and while it's just cooling, i'm just gon na rake through my fingers and just stretching it out, keeping it nice and flat to the head, which gives us that texture, section width is probably an inch and a half clamp. That root down as we're coming through that section just twist it through just a nice soft wave, clamp at the root smooth it, and then we start to twist last pieces flatten off smooth start to twist. So that's finished result hope you like it. If you want me to do a a salon style version of this, so i do it section by section rather than ponytails. If you now understand the ponytail technique as as to create this shape, then let me know in the comments down below and i can do it as a section by section salon, floor technique, but yeah hope you enjoyed the video. If you have. Let me know in the comments down below comment subscribe thumbs up i'll, see you on the next video

The Cat Farm: Last time I went to a stylist I asked for this haircut. I went in with mermaid hair and came out with The Karen. I was absolutely mortified. I'm now going to attempt to do this on myself, for free. Thanks for this video.

Terri Velazquez: You had me cracking up when you pulled off the head to give it a shake . Also, this is exactly what I needed about 6 hours ago when my husband was attempting to give me this haircut. It turned out ok but more blunt. I’ll use this when it in a few weeks when gets longer. Thanks!

Anni M: Just spontaniously tried this haircut on myself after the video showed up in my recommendations lol. I didn't cut it quite as short, but it still came out super nice. I am so happy :) Also I didn't blunt cut the sections, but did some point cutting while the hair was still in ponytails. Gave me the perfect texture i wanted

Amy Mueller: I tried this for my naturally wavy hair and it’s the best cut I’ve had in years! It brought back the wave, took out weird “shelf layers” I had and Ifeel beautiful. Had no idea how to point cut and was scared but it’s terrific!

tracey arnaud: Wow! I've cut my own hair the past 2 years using a ponytail method, but I love the 3 layered approach you did here! Thanks for this, I love the style.

karen deruyter: Great job! It’s surprising how many young stylists haven’t a strong understanding of the these basics…elevation, graduation and over direction. Keep on teaching

Amanda Day: That center pony tail is the thing I was missing when cutting my own hair. This cut is so much easier than my layering method of pulling sections forward, add an inch, and cut. My crown hair was always a bit longer than I wanted. Thanks for the video.

Stollings Jackson: Love this cut. I have to tell you me and my 5 year old granddaughter was watching this together and you pulled her head off I never heard a scream so loud right in my ear. She's fine and we had a great laugh ty

Ana Karina De Freitas: You saved my life! This was my haircut while I was in London. Back home (Brazil) for almost 2 years now, I’ve been in several hairdressers and they don’t know how to do this haircut properly. I tried myself today and looks good! Thank you soooooo much!

Kerry J: I did this to myself yesterday evening and I absolutely love it. So flattering and as I have naturally wavy hair it’s amazing, no styling needed. Air dried it looked amazing, just a little rose hip oil afterwards. Thank you ! I am autistic and a salon is a sensory nightmare for me ‍♀️

Arlene Short: Watched this video a couple of times and even though I'm all thumbs I am very pleased the way it came out. I had been depressed about my hair lately and I am so glad I found your channel. THANK YOU

kuku maku: I imagine my hairdresser shaking my head by the neck to set up my hair. Lol. I couldn't stop laughing. You're so funny. And very lovely

Janet Santoro: I love these videos! I am also a stylist who cuts my own hair and I understand the principle behind this that makes it work. It’s a great way to get it done fast! I do a shag cut on my hair and since I found your two pony tail technique, I always do it on myself that way now! I also point cut into it to refine at the end. Beautiful!

Scarlet-Quill_Dolls: looks AMAZING! I'm going to give this a go on my hair. Thanks so much for this ! xox

Granny T: Love it! So simple but a sophisticated result. Once I learned to do ponytail cutting and then the refining bits I switched to that for my own and my daughters haircuts. Excellent results we never could get at the salons we tried. Well, I did get it at one salon many years ago, absolutely perfect haircut that looked spectacular even in a 60mph gale at the beach! Went back to the same salon the next time time but that amazing man had moved on and they refused to give me the info on where he went. I never ever found another stylist so good, sadly. Thank you for your great demos!

Laurie Popp: I followed your video to cut my cousin’s hair - it turned out fantastic! I liked it so well I then had her cut my hair and I absolutely love it. Thank you for helping those of us who are not hair stylists. ❤️

MG Swing: I tried cutting my curly hair all by myself for the first time. Oh my it turns out great!! I love it. Thank you so much!

Kat Peters: Thank you soooo much for this! I used this to clean up the bob I gave myself a couple months ago and I’m so happy with how it turned out! So easy too!

Marina Mo: Thank you. It seems we all tried immediately. I used to put all my hair( thin) in one pony tail on the top of my head and cut during pandemic, just tried this, it's not perfect for sure, but it is great idea. Looks good. Thanks.

1111 SeesAll: im 62, born and raised in DC and i learned this and similar styles of cut in the 70's, by the early 80's the shop i was in was also doing asymmetrical cuts and we started with asymmetrical bobs. i STILL love watching good work -- you can tell who is committed to the craft vs. who is about the money. glad to see someone is STILL teaching the basics -- showing commitment to the craft while demonstrating the precision & the artistry of it.

Rebecca Semmens: Really good tutorial and simple, no-fuss way of explaining for newbie hairdressers - good job!

Arleen Hammersla: Thank you, thank you, thank you for this perfect tutorial. After many stressful and disappointing visits to the salon, I decided to cut my own hair and have been doing so for 7 years! I wanted this exact haircut and tried this method. I LOVE MY HAIR!

Trudie Swart: This is the prettiest bob I've ever seen, it's so beautiful I love it!! Totally trying this!!

Katharina Trüb: I love this cut!!!! Superb work! actually look so easy I wanna try it out my self ; )) 3 ponytails and a hairstyleriron for the curls... thanks, very inspiring !

A Grey Lady - Tamara: OMG! I've been trying and trying at home for this cut! I can never get it quite right...thank you so much for this video! It's perfect and EXACTLY what I wanted! I love it!

Charlene Lemay: I freaking love this and I’m about to go to the salon today and do this haircut thanks for this video

Grace A: Beautiful haircut will definitely use it on my clients. Thanks for clean and clear tutorial ❤️

Denise Durham: I tried this today and it worked! I have thick, wavy hair and I took off about 5 inches. Thank you so much for this video!

Natascha Alex: My hair is pretty thin and because of that I hate going to the hairdresser... I followed your easy instructions and I love the extra volume this haircut gave me❤️ thank you

Namri: I vote YES for salon version! This way is easier for myself and my girls but doesn't hurt to know how to do it professionally either :)

MaryAnn Przybycien: I had this style a few years ago. Loved it! I really want to go back to it now! ❤️

Shell Insight: I Love this video, Thank you. I have used the ponytail technique also... But was wanting to create a more layered look, at home. As things are tight at present! Thank you so much It would also be good to see the salon version too

P Korzenowski: I just tried this technique on myself and IT WORKED PERFECTLY! I didn't even have to do any post-trimming... it just looked amazing. If I could post a pic I would but I can't. I will keep this trick handy. Thank you!

Megan O-J: So- to folks with straight hair: point cut the pony’s from the start, don’t just cut them across! I’ve been cutting my own hair for a really long time, and I love simple techniques like this- great video! I just really need to remember that I cannot ever make straight across cuts to my hair. Somehow I forget when I watch vids like this, looks so easy. But my hair is stick straight, and the horseshoe ponytail cut left a mid-length horizontal line that looked awful. Wavy/curly hair is much more forgiving with things like this. I had to bring the bottom pony up shorter and point cut for everrrrrr to blend it in. But now it’s way over-layered in the back and approaching Karen. Blah. Ah well, just hair, it’ll grow. I hate having to “do” my hair, but this cut is only going to look good curled!

Jolanda Logan: Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am a DIY hairstylist with 20+ years of practice/trial and error. Great video, I just searched and found your tutorial and did exactly step by step. Easy and it came out WONDERFUL with little need to further trim or shape. Xoxo

Liz Millner: Absolutely love your tutorials…so clear and cleanly made. Thank you.

Fátimah sicilly: Ficou muito bonito. Eu mesma corto meus cabelos, e no próximo corte usarei esta técnica de 3 sessões ensinada por você neste vídeo. Congrats.

Tauna: Thanks! Worked great once I got my parts sorted out. Added some curtain bangs. Thank you Paul! Love your videos & your instruction! ☺️‍♀️

Karen M Rydzy: Absolutely LOVED your video, the style came out beautifully. My husband and I cut my hair about 11/2 weeks ago and I so wish I knew then what you just showed me. I'll just have to wait a few weeks to give it a try. Thanks so much. Luv u, Karen

Danielle Morgan: Thank you for this! I had to Have my eldest help me … couldn’t soften/point cut it but my wavy curls help with the look. I love it !

Tracey Freeman: I love this! I’ll have to watch many times to get it,maybe I can get my daughter to do it. Thanks for sharing.

Lisa Brady: i used this technique the other day, Great tutorial and I'm still shocked and amazed that I could do this at home by myself AND have such great results.

Kelly Mills: thank you, that's exactly the haircut I was looking for, I'm tired of the long straight look, everybody said I look like I'm in the 1900s, so I think this is going to bring me into the century, something modern and flattering

Olivia Riddle: Thank you so much for this! I can cut other peoples' hair by myself just fine, but this video allowed me to actually give myself a haircut that I love.

Kimi Kae: I absolutely love ponytail haircuts! They make me nervous at first but have ALWAYS turned out great! So might try this one soon...... Kind of really nervous tho :)

BS NZmora: Woww que hermoso te quedó , a mí me cuesta mucho ese corte , lo intentaré así como le hiciste

Melissa Kershaw: I would love to see a salon friendly version!!

Trish's Healthy Appetite: I'm trying this tonight! I've followed others with results that will get me by, but not satisfied. This looks great and instructions are easy to follow. Thank you!

Laura Altieri: Thank you so much for this! I've been looking for how to do a bob for months, since I started cutting my hair by myself, due to the pandemic Your work is fresh and lovely. My only concern is that I might still need someone to use this technique on me ☺

Bethanie Daly: I've given myself this haircut twice and love it, thank you! I do cut it a bit longer and am learning to point cut the ponytails as I go otherwise it is too hard to do on myself. I have naturally wavy/curly hair and it looks great, I also like to to curl it as you did in the video sometimes. I have to say though that I do wish I could take my head off and shake it around like that, that would be so satisfying!

Stacey Here We Grow Again: So well explained and demonstrated. Thank you so much!

Keith Moschion: Aaaaaa eu sempre quis cortar meu cabelo assim e amanha vou cortar! Não entendi nada do que falou, mas da pra tentar só de ver. Maravilhoso video! Obrigada! ❤️

Candace Cohen: This is the best and easiest video I’ve seen on how to cut a wig into an Bob with beach waves. Thank you so much!

margo ap: i tried this today, i had long thin hair.. in 30 mins i ended up with a great haircut!!! thank you so much!!! great video!

Kris Kaiser: I just did this I love it !! Have to fallow the exact directions he is amazing thank you so much!!

Christine Zwicke: OMG...fabulous! The extreme ease (pony tail approach) blended with an absolute accurate outcome. I've been 'lusting' after this exact look for an ornery, cantankerous wig I have been struggling with. You nailed it! Thank you.

athletic grandma: I've accidentally done this haircut on myself for years, it's my go to!

Caring for a baby with an ostomy P: Thank you! I don't have time to get to the salon. I had my husband do this on me and it came out perfect!

Lynette Mccullough: Yes, please give a professional technique video on this hair cut!! I love using your salon techniques. I watch the pony tail videos first, then the professional salon videos. Thank you so much for free education!!

Kimberly Kane: You are amazing all from 3 ponytails ..I love the cut very trendy . I'm ready to attempt it now thanks!

Yvonne Varela: I can't wait to try this on my own hair. I'm going to use this method when cutting my daughter's hair also. She can't stand sitting still for too long. This should definitely help that

Janelle Chaitkin: Thanks so much for this super cut amazing thing that you showed up and was glued! Have been a hair artist for long time!! You Sir have inspired me once again and I thank you with many Blessings to you!!

Honey Bee🐝: Love this!!! Works great! Tried it very easy but precise thanks!!

Angela Hagood: Thought the end style was a real model! What a great technique! Wish they taught these types of methods in cosmetology school. Love the cut, color and style! Great tutorial!

China Muñiz: I love your technique I love this hair style and been looking for a way that I can try doing myself because I can’t afford going to the salon. I feel good about trying this one

JO MAMA: That came out really beautiful. I have always loved that haircut style :) I have had mine cut to my jaw line in the front and shorter in the back and it has always come out super cute and easy to wear either straight or curly. And ive even been asked if I was a celebrity when I was in Miami at a boat show for a weekend by hotel staff and was so flattered. My hair always looks good with this and shorrer bobs. LOVE THEM and you did and AWESOME job!

Trooper Quesinberry: This is the easiest way I’ve ever seen I loved the way you explained it wonderful video

Cindy Burns: I'm going to try that shake movement on my next client, if I can only take her head off her neck. Seriously, it's all about angles. Nice job, the low pony tail bob cut has been around before I was born. I like the extra steps. Thank's for sharing!

Ivette Blanco-Torres: Love it thanks for the lesson.

Lisa C.: Totally love this tutorial, thank you for posting this. I have very long hair and am looking for a new look, this is it. I am going to attempt this but just a tad longer. Can't wait to try this. Can you post a tutorial on cutting into the hair layers to make it smooth? Love the video.☺❤

Sarah Wadleigh: Hey, Paul... I used this technique on longer hair, and it looks fab!!! Thanks!

Rose Thome: Parabéns! Perfeito , obrigada

Marta Santos: Maravilhoso, vou fazer em mim

lunePT: I cut my mom's hair.. her hair is short and very fine.. the haircut came out so stunning ... thanks for the video

Alexandra Ferrer: Omg yaaaas! Watching from San Diego, California and once my 21 year young daughter wakes up. I’m going to ask her to do this to my hair. I will get it wet, pulled back and primped for her!! I’ll let u know how it goes!

crystal tharp: Would love to see a sectioned version of this cut!

kathy O'Brien: I tried this lastnight my hair has a natural wave and after doing this it has brought my natural wave back into my hair haven't had my hair cut since Feb last year and couldn't go to the hairdressers as I'm unvaxed you saved me thankyou so much my hair looks great and feels great

francesca saunders: EXCELLENT PAUL. YOU MAKE THESE HAIRCUTS SEEM SO EASY. HOWEVER I DON'T LIKE A MIDDLE PARTING, I ALWAYS DO ME A SIDE PARTING. ALSO I LOVE THESE CUTS WITH A DISHEVELLED LOOK.

Erin: I cut my own hair and wanted a similar hairstyle but didn't have the tips. Thanks so much. <3 to the beautiful ladies out there.

sandra stockley: Wow that was inspiring I will definitely be watching your tutorials. Your explanation was great too

hi yoonmin.★: perfeito,amei o corte.

Yvette15179: I love this haircut ❤️❤️ thanks for the inspiration

Amber Tornatore: Wow I love this long Bob, ive always seen the Bob very short on everyone, my hair grows wayyyy to quick and I'm trying to learn easy ways to cut, it's a domino effect of me getting it cutting mine so all of them want Theres done as well, also my boys are into the curly hair scene but now my oldest wants highlights and I gotta get what's needed, oh btw you are wonderful!!

feldmannism: Hi Paul, thank you so much for the tutorial. I have one question... Is it possible to do the refining (point cutting) while the hair is still in ponytails? Or will this look too weird? Best wishes from Germany

Holly Walsh: Love the results I got! Thank you!

SuDa Lux: WoW! My hair is down to just below my waist - I can't remember the last time I went to a hairdresser! I keep it tied back, which is such a waste! I think I'll get my mum to look at this video and the plunge! It's exactly the style that I've been looking for! Thanks very much

Bel S: Just did this and took less than 5 mins. I only took a trim amount off but did give hair a healthy fresh look. Thanks

Pam Larson: Thank you thank you thank you! I was able to do this cut on my self in less than 15 minutes. I have a request, “how to fix someone’s attempt at a self cut” She gave herself a “creative choppy long top mullet”
