Modern Bob Haircut / Bob Haircut How To/Curtain Bang

This is a bob haircut tutorial based around the Ramones Hairstyle in the 1970’s. Ill show you how to use the comb to control tension and direct the hair. This is a simple method to get a predictable result. Keepin’ it simple. I’m doing a one length blunt bob haircut with a wink to the 70’s.

Hey everybody we're gon na, do a bob haircut for you guys today, just showing you guys what this looks like right now we just got a kind of a funky fringe happening. I think it was a test dummy for some other haircuts, but uh. It'S got some weird paying section there. It'S got some nice nice rest of the cut a little bit of obviously parole going on in this one, but we're gon na smooth that out later, but no layers, not a bunch of layers, really just some invisible layering in it, but we're gon na be cutting It up just underneath the chin. It'S got, how that looks there. It'S heavy! That'S! Okay! We'Re gon na we're gon na fix that later on, see what we see what we come up with the idea that I I've just been listening to a ton of the Ramones. Lately - and I just had this idea to create some haircuts based around kind of their look - and you know the 1970s vibe, so this can be kind of a cool haircut. For me, I get really inspired by buying music a lot of times alright, so we're gon na start here. Sectioning, just gon na put the hair in front of the ears here or there just behind the ears, just swipe it in front and then twist it to keep it in place. We'Re going to park down the middle Center back then just do slight diagonal forward. Partings to start, then, we're gon na start right here in the back and we're gon na just use the comb for our attention and control. So just gon na comb, the hair down, decide where you want to cut it, but right now I'm gon na bring it down just taking off blunt lengths. That'S all we're doing to set, and that's all we're gon na do the whole time. So we're not going to be doing a bunch of finger tension or finger positioning. This is all gon na be done with the comb. There'S our next section brought it down. You can see, I can see through it. So, typically, what I do like on thick haired gals - and they want a you - know, blunt cut, so obviously we're gon na keep this modern. I was trying to figure out. You know how to how to bring something from a retro he knows fashion and how to make it a little bit more modern. So it's fun. It'S always a fun challenge. To me, that's how we're looking back they're, really not graduated, but still got just a nice shape and again we're kind of getting in to just above the occipital bone and just still bringing everything just straight down. Keep it in the comb and then cut off your lanes. Maybe tal you can just it's nice thin parting, so you can see right through them on finer, hair, textures or thinner, hair. You could. This is a great way to go to create a heavier feeling. You know perimeter, a blunt perimeter makes it feel stronger. It makes it feel thicker so a lot of times on gals with really thin hair. I love doing this, but it also looks good on you know. Gals with thick hair just makes their hair look even stronger, but then you can go in and texturize. You know with internal layering and set off that texture. The way you want it or the way your client wants it. Okay, so we're gon na get into the sides now there's the cool part you're gon na comb. This whole section down and you're gon na cut this all as one section, and you can do it. However, you want, but this is how I'm gon na do it. So just gon na connect to the back come straight for now, but now we're gon na comb it and keep that comb angled diagonal back. Let'S see, I have they'll comb slightly angled and how I angled it diagonal back in the front there now we're coming through it just to show you guys how it's coming together and see as I come, it's got. Those the ends are just nicely tucking in, which is what I want I'll switch to this. I won't do the same thing so watch this we're gon na comb. It down connect to the back it's straight right here, but the more as we comb this front section here, we're gon na diagonal back angle on the comb to create a shorter in the front, and it's slightly longer toward the back. Look here. We'Re gon na start refining that red bloods right here, so we really just checking out the nape here and just getting all those tiny little hairs that we want to get out of the way. It'S been some good time doing this and I'm just using the comb to control everything. You know, I'm not they're, not putting anything in my fingers work with my hands. You know in the hair that much it's a lot really a lot about the comb technique and holding the hair in the comb or you're, not putting so much attention on it. It just helps you have a. I don't have a more reliable outcome on really how the length is gon na be, and it won't shrink - and you know just kind of keeps it again just keeps it blunt because you're not lifting the hair up as much that's what I wanted on this cut. Obviously, there's gon na be some. You know people who maybe want more layering and whatnot in their bob, so you can change that as you want to, but I wanted to show you guys how to create a bob with you know all. Basically, I want length, and you know being, will it give it a shape, focusing on that shape and and I'm focused on that 1970s sort of bringing it a little bit modern. You can tell it's got that diagonal back kind of a line to it and once we get into the top two you're gon na see what we connect again. So right now here we're in the front. We'Re gon na just create a really really heavy. Looking bang and then we're gon na personalise it, but you have to everyone to know how to cut CS bangs. Here'S a here's a great way to go, so I have it parted over each eyebrow, the corner of each brow, we're dropping it down just below the nose, that's what it comes out and we're just gon na cut all that hair off and once we're done with This do you basically have CEA's bangs, but those aren't realistic, so we're gon na start softening them up. It'S basically right now, I'm just I'm just keeping the hair low, taking out a little bit of texture there just to refining a little bit there. We go a nice and smooth straight across and now here's just gon na be a cool portion of the video where you're gon na see these banks take shape. So here we are we're just elevating the comb just a little bit now, just a little and we're taking off the corners in the middle, taking out quite a bit of hair there with the angle on the scissors, and now you can see I'm every time, I'm Lifting it a little higher, I lost on the camera a little bit there, but you can tell every time I'm kind of cutting through I'm lifting a lot higher, and you can already see that the hair is creating you're, losing weight and creating texture to the hair. Every time I drop that down, you can see through it a little bit more. You can see now I've lifted it up higher again, I'm creating little mini layers within the bangs. Look at that. You can tell it's coming into into play here. This shape is happening. So they look very strong, but they had a lot of texture and then when they have texture, that means she can smooth them off and swipe them out of her face, create more of that curtain, bang style and we kind of think of the Ramones. You know they had that sort of that fringe look and heavier. You know kind of diagonal back sort of shapes to their haircuts. You know a couple of them had the shag I'm gon na do another one. Probably it has more of a shag shape. So I'm just I'm just really inspired by the Ramones on this so and yeah. You can see now I'm just lifting up the hair, I'm cutting into it, so deep that it's just removing so much weight and creating a lot of texture. I'M just gon na get into these bangs. Even more then do a little bit. You know sort of channel cutting just kind of getting the shears right in there and taking out some weight and creating shorter to longer pieces to be able to push the hair to the outside when they style it all right we're coming everything forward. We got this veil of hair now that we're going to be dealing with at the end, so you pull comb everything forward and then connect to your line, so we're gon na do a ton of dry cutting here at the end, showed you guys somewhat cutting in The beginning, and now we're switching over to the the dry cutting portion, which is a lot of times the way I finished my haircuts. Do you see that diagonal back is quite drastic right now? That'S not gon na be how it finishes up on this bob. We could absolutely do something like this more of a long bob, which i will probably do a create more of a long bob shape. So you guys can see how to do that, but this one right now it's gon na be shorter than this, but I'm just kind of working. My way to it again, you guys can see I'm just using the comb for everything to hold the hair and then freehand cutting a lot as well. We'Re gon na do the same thing on the other side. Now we're just going to switch comb everything forward and then get in there. Freehand cut our line. Isn'T that calm kind of pulling everything forward, even as I'm kind of that you can see I'm kind of pulling it forward again. It'S not gon na be this long here. This drastic, it's gon na be a lot more subtle by the time we're done with it, but we're just working our way there. So now I'm kind of coming everything down in the back now I'm kind of calmed everything backward and now we've got to deal with connecting things back here. So we'll spend quite a bit of time back here, cutting making sure everything's even and got some good texture and movement to it. There'S a lot of connection entity right there again. This is due to the haircut that was already in here, but that left I was more heavily textured. Then the right side was internally. This is almost a cut correction. If you saw what the cut was in the beginning, you know with those weird bangs and some people had tested out some things on it, which is fine. It was from a haircut. It was a from a haircut in class. There was people testing things out, but you can see here I'm just about refining refining refining, now we're in the front and we're just going to comb again forward from in front of the ear and I'm just connecting the face framing kind of fringe to the edges Of the cut there in the front now this is the only time I'm doing anything in my fingers where I've kind of just coming forward and up to just remove some more weight right there, especially on that side and then we're gon na do I did the Same thing on the right side of the head, but I didn't record it so, but I just pulled from the ear there pull it forward right here, I'm just connecting the the face framing a bit. You can see perfect right, they're, just confidence of texturing, and I did pull it up and forward and cut into it as well again, a little bit more refining here, some channel cutting some more channel cutting through the sides and the same thing on the the right Side or the left side as well and just refining we're finding we're finding that shape around here till the end and I'm gon na spin. Her around and you'll see a few more spots that we need to kind of grab some overhanging hair. So I think the the takeaways from this video - you guys are that you know you don't always have to use. You know your fingers to hold the hair. You can use a comb, and you know it just basically helps you have a more reliable outcome with the length, especially when you know like you've cut with a comb. The attention that you're using bringing that hair down with a comb is really the perfect amount of tension to where you're not pulling the hair too far and creating too much stress where it's going to spring up once it's dry. But here's the the finished look. You can see it's got that very, very, very subtle, diagnol back kind of shape to it on the sides. It'S got a really nice heavy fringe. There you see on that side to the diagonal back, texture, diagonally shape and then those really heavy bangs, which is just super rock and roll super chic right now, honestly, it just people, love that look and that curtain bang and again depend on how you style it. Obviously we like to kind of get those flipped out to the Lord, the edges. If we want to or you could go shorter with them honestly, if you wanted to - and I may do another tutorial on shortening up those bangs so hope you enjoyed it -
