Hey guys, how are you it's Lilly here and today I'm going to be going back to the basics and I'm going to be teaching you guys how to create a regular French braid all the way in the back. So if you still don't know how to do it or if you just want to touch up on your technique, then keep watching, and I will take you through all the steps so to master the French braid. All you really need is a lot of practice. Just and just a few basic tools like a brush to comb through the hair as your first step and then just a small elastic at the end, to tie in your braid and then at the end, some hairspray. If you have any flyaways or anything like that. So that's pretty much all we need, and the first thing I'm going to do is just brush all the hair backwards. So for the rest of this tutorial, I'm going to turn around and do it backwards and try to give you guys easy directions that you can follow. So here we are starting off with my hair that has been brushed thoroughly and what I'm going to do is just pick up a section of hair, going from all the way at the front where your banger is all the way towards your crown area, and you Can just separate that from the rest of your hair and divide that into three sections, once you have this divided into three sections: all you want to do is crisscross the hair, so the left. This is my left, and this is my right, and this is the center the Luntz going to go over the center and then the right is going to go over the center. So here is the left over the center and here's the right over the center. But once we have this first beginning of the braid, all you want to do is grab sections from the sides and keep adding them to the sides. So here is my right. So what I'm going to do is grab a section of hair just with your finger from the very front like this and just add that to your right side, we're going to hold it tight and now we're going to do exactly the same thing. On the left side, so we're just gon na pick up with your fingers strand and just add that to your left side. So once you have that here added in you just going to grab it and just bring that over the center strand like that and then now this is the center, so we're going to bring the right over the center as well. So here we go we're going to just bring that over. So now that we have the hair added in we're going to hold it tight and basically keep doing the same exact thing. So I'm going to add some hair from the side right here to my right section in a hole, tight the center and then do the same thing over here. Hold it tight and then bring that over the center again. So here we go, we got our second part done and basically, at this point you just want to keep going just hold it. Everything really tight and keep doing the same exact thing: we're going to keep adding hair here, like that, with our finger to the right side, you're going to separate the hair, hold it tight, hold the middle tight and then we're going to add more hair here on The side add it into our left side: bring that over the center hold it tight, bring the right over the center cross them together. Just make sure everything is tight and then again we're going to just grab section of hair from the side. Bring that over and add it to your right side, pull tight, bring section of hair from your left side and just add that into your left, section hold everything tight, bring it over the center and basically at this point you want to just keep going and adding Hair until you get to the nape of your neck and then I'm going to turn around and finish off with a break so once you've finished braiding in the back. At this point, when you reach the nape of your neck, all you want to do is just finish off with a regular three strand braid, so I'm going to braid that all the way to the end and just secure that with a small elastic band. So at this point, once you have secured the end of the braid you're, pretty much done if you have flyaways like me or like baby hair, all you want to do is just apply a little bit of hairspray just to smooth it all down. Just like that, and then I'm going to smooth it all down, so that's it you guys once you have smooth down the hair, this has done. The French braid is done. All you got to do is practice practice practice. If you don't get it from the first. Try it's a very simple technique, but something that takes a while to get for some reason. Even for me, when I was first learning it so here you are. I hope you guys enjoyed this video if you don't get it again, just keep watching the technique until you get it and keep practicing, and if you do recreate the look, then I use a hashtag Luxy here on instagram and share with us for your chance to Be featured on our lucky hair Instagram account and the link for that will be in the bottom bar or you can just search luxy hair. So thank you guys so much for watching and i'll see in the next video bye.

But, I started on my barbies, then on myself, and I did not give up until I got it, lol. Now, I can do all braids, just by learning the basic French braid. You can too, just be persistent and don’t give up Remember, it’s just a regular braid, just add sections from left, cross over just like a regular braid, then add from the right...I promise, you can do it

Sophia Eleni: OMG I actually did it! Sorry for the people who really are struggling! Try wetting your hair it really works

EDH 1970: I really miss my french braids, up until 2012 I had hair down past my butt and for work wore it in a french braid. That ended once I was found to have a brain tumour, I had to have my hair shaved off three times (the first op was unsucessful, the second ok, then the third to fit Titanium Plate over the hole left in my skull), but the tumour caused me to have two strokes in my left side and now I can't use my left hand, so can't braid my hair myself. Now that my hair has grown longer I'd like my mum to do a French Braid for me when I have occasions out so thanks to your help she can do it. Happy 2019

Thanatos1991: Your video was so helpful! I braid my hair for years already in a "normal" braid, but wanted to try something new (my hair is so long that I can almost sit on it)! My first try on this came out well enough that I felt confident to wear it to university! =D Thank you so much!

writerspen010: As someone who has only ever been able to do Dutch braids, this is definitely an adjustment but also so helpful. Thank you!!

Katt Lettuce: thank you so much for this! i never thought i’d be able to do a french braid <3

MissBKH 225: Thank you for this video, this really helped me figure the whole thing out! For people with hair that's a bit curly, try doing this a little bit after a shower, maybe? So it's flatter. Thank you for the help!

A S: My mother used to always French braid my hair and her own when I was growing up, so this was a very common hairstyle in my household throughout my childhood! :) Watching your video has brought back many memories and I'm so glad that I found it. My arms hurt after braiding my own hair this way because it takes me a little longer to do it on my own, but it's a very good work-out for the arms! lol And I second the notion that this is the best French braid tutorial video. You are clearly displaying your technique to the camera and explaining each step. Great job!

Sammy M: Watched this a few times, and after maybe 10 attempts and about 2 hours with breaks in between for my sore arms, i finally was able to finish the french braid! Slightly messy but getting there! I would say figuring out the finger combinations first is the way to go

T X: I have fine curly hair that I don’t wash for over a week. First four days after washing my hair I wear a styled look I create with a curling iron. After the first four days of wearing my hair styled down, I’ll wear a styled pony tail for two days- then I’ll put a hair mask on my hair, rinse, and give myself a blowout that I’ll wear for two days. After that, I’ll wear my hair in a braid for three days. Sometimes I go longer, but I never thought I would be someone who doesn’t wash their hair 3-4 times a week! Thought I’d share- thanks for reading. :) Ps. Thank you for this video!!! I’ve been braiding my hair for awhile through trial and error and the styled braid you created makes my routine much easier when I need it to be easy and simple. Thank you!

Srividhya Krishnamurthi: Hello, Your demonstration of braiding French plait, seems by far the most easily understandable and executable. Good I ran into your piece of work! Thanks for the valuable contribution for women looking to adopt French braids :) Cheers

kasturi amarender: Thanks alot. I thought I cant make it at a go. But to my surprise I braided soo perfectly at my first attempt. And it took 10 mins for me to braid it. Thanks alot. ~Komali

OTPulse: Daughter asks me to learn to braid. I struggle with just a standard ponytail, so this'll be an interesting weekend. I hope it's as easy as you make it look.

Fatima Tariq: thank you so much for such an amazing tutorial .

Pooja Verma: Most perfect video for doing french braid on Youtube. I love you Lily your all braid videos are awesome.

Mawra Nasib: I seriously did it in first try ! (I cannt believe myself though) thank u so much!!

Kimberly Directo: This is hands-down the best French braid tutorial video I've found on YouTube. The other videos I've found have the braid on the side of the head and the single French braid video tutorials don't explain how you MUST keep each strand you pull from either side pulled into the left and right side before doing each braid movement. You're video clearly indicates to pull a strand from the right side-connect it with the right portion of the three you are holding, to do this again on the left side then complete each interval (the branding action) before you start over again. It's extremely helpful in that I now know and have mastered pulling and attaching from both sides to the left and right section of the three piece braid and braiding it. Easy!! Just add a strand on each side every single time prior to twisting my 3 part braid. You're amazing and thanks so much!

KatLeSkitty91: Seriously thank you my mom use to French braid my hair when i was a kid, but i ended up cutting my hair to my shoulders when I was 12 and have just recently started trying to grow it back to my butt. I was dieing to figure this technique out and your explanation is just simple and forward. Wish me luck. I'm off to play with my hair. Lol

Mahzaib Babar: Amazing!! Learned at first attempt!! Thankyou!

Michelle Anne: arm workouts should just be learning braiding tutorials! Thank you, your tutorial is the one I was actually able to follow! hello strong arms!

Haley H: This is actually the only french braid video that helped me. I can do it now thanks!

MissMariah: While my hair is still a bit too layered for the lower half of the braid to look good, this video led me to complete my first successful french braid ever!

Sonia Jaitly: Thank you so much, I learned to do french braids

SISTERCUPRA EDWARDS: All the other tutorials I’ve watched never made sense but I understand now so simple I feel bad since I’ve been missing out and letting my older sister do all the hard work!! Haha thank you!! ‍♀️‍♀️

Someone-Feisty_o3O :3: This was so hard to do! I wanted to learn because my boyfriend wanted me to learn different braids so I could help him get the "Viking" look. My first try was really more like 10 tries in one. But I eventually did it. It wasn't 100% centered and it could use to be tighter, but other than that, it was a success

Dorothy Brandes: Thank you for your clear easy to follow instructions. Wow, your hair is s beautiful, full and flexible.

ProgressiveHeart: Thank you! My stepdaughter has long hair. Her dad’s gf’s cousin (really!) FB’d it last weekend. Your video is very clear, and makes sense. Maybe I can practice while she’s doing her homework...

Divya kottana: Really amazing I'll definitely try

Kuthadi Monica: I have been trying from yesterday.....and with your help I got this briad today❤️thank you so much

Tabby Williams: This was very helpful!! I was able to get it in one shot & before I couldn't figure out how to do it. Thank you!!

Dafychi: I did it after the second try! Thank you :D

Diyaas Creative Vlogs: Great tutorial!♥️

HollyRD: Thanks so much, i did it it's the first time i managed any sort of braid (exept the basic one) ❤

The_pampered1 The Pampered Princess: Keep practicing. I used to do this in highschool classes when I was bored. No mirror, just by feeling. I'm still good at it 25+ years later. I just braided mine, got curious to see how many people are wearing this. It looks harder than it is. Once you have it, you never forget..I use my pinky to pick up hair. Whatever is most comfortable for you! I skip the hairspray tho. Ugh

我是Kelly: wowwww!!! first time that i am actually able to do a different type of braid thank uuhh

Ja'Nasia Jackson: Thanks it was so fun and at the same time it’s so cute and hard

190 608: It truly helped. Thanks a lot

Pooja Verma: Most perfect video for doing french braid on Youtube.

Jehanzeb Akbar: If anyone doesn't understand: Take a section from the front Divide it into three equal sections Make one stitch just like a normal braid (put the right strand over the middle and then the left one) When doing the next stitch, add hair from the sides and follow the traditional, basic braid method Easy!

Да: this was very helpful ❤️

theteadiffusionvlog: Question for Luxy or other commenters! I've got the technique I think, but my hair gets super tangled during the process. even when I brush my (bust length, thick) hair out totally before I begin, by the time I've done one or two passes, my whole length needs brushing again. Any tips? Thanks for the great vid Luxy

Tracy Brannan: OMG I am a woman who has raised 2 girls and I STILL CANT DO THIS! It’s sooo much harder than it looks. So last weekend I went to a hair salon and they did it really cute for $12 on long hair and it lasted 7 days- worth it!

meiangie: Thank you. I tried for 20 years and with your video, I learned it in 1 evening
