Hey guys, it's Maddy, and today I'm gon na be taking you through three easy braids that you can do on shorter hair. My hair is kind of like at an awkward length right now. I don't know if I'm gon na grow it out, don't know if I'm gon na chop it again, but I do have bangs and I'm trying to grow these things out and so anytime. I can find a hairstyle that makes me put them up and makes them look like they don't exist, I'm down for it. So if you and Brady aren't really good friends, you're gon na be good with the first two, the last one has a little bit of braiding, so yeah, let's go ahead and jump into the first one. The first braid is actually two twists at the front. I posted this first on Instagram, and so many of you guys were like drop that tutorial like what is this braid? Let me know: well today, I'm going to be sharing with you. My biggest thing is all braids I like to start with curled hair. It allows me to have a little bit more texture that I can play with when I'm putting these styles together and if any pieces fall down just having them be. Curled makes the look look 100 % better and again, like I said it's just easier to play with umm. For this look, I'm gon na recommend to you having a middle part. You can do it to the side if you don't want to have a middle part. I would then recommend only doing one of them, but, for the sake of me, having things and me wanting to put them up, I'm gon na do middle parts that I can easily get these bad boys up. What you're gon na need for this tutorial. The first thing is two of these guys, these clear elastics, these are gon na, be what's gon na hold the end of your twists. I recommend having a brush just from the standpoint of I'm gon na want to brush out the front of my hair is just so they're really easy to twist and then, if need be, some bobby pins. I didn't use any for this look, but you can never go wrong with having two bobby pins on the side, just in case some flyaways decide to fly away. So to start this look I'm going to just brush out the front pieces of my hair. I have lots lots of fine hair. I have to start with brushed out hair just so that it's really easy for me to be able to work with and choose pieces from. The biggest part of this look is as you're grabbing pieces. We need to remember that we have to do it small, the bigger the pieces that you grab the faster and the fatter. This look is gon na, be the reason that people like this look so much is from the standpoint that it's minimal and it's very tiny. Little twist, I'm gon na be starting with my front section. Basically, I'm going to be starting with my bangs and this whole look is going to be with two sections. So all you're gon na do is split your section into two equal sections like this. This is what you're gon na be working with the whole time. You always want to have two sections, not three we're not braiding we're just twisting. So all you're gon na do is flip hands, so the sections are in and you've twisted so kind of similar to a French braid here, we're gon na add pieces to both sides. So this bottom one, I want you to grab a tiny little bit again, not too much and this top section. I want you to grab a tiny little bit, not too much so now we have more hair in either section and all we're gon na do is switch hands again and twist. So you kind of see the pattern happening here. I'M gon na grab a tiny bit more down here and a tiny bit more up here and then I'm gon na twist. So you can kind of start to see the twist forming as we are grabbing our little sections. So it's similar to a French braid in that you're grabbing hairs from either side, but it's only twisting so we're not having to like grab and braid and make it super duper complicated. So I'm gon na do maybe just one more little twist and then I'm gon na grab my elastic. So I've got my elastic. What I'm gon na do is get it prepped, I'm gon na twist, one more time without any hair, and then I'm gon na tie this off and then right after I'm done tying it off. I'M gon na tighten the elastic just to ensure that it stays because twists aren't the same as braids they're not going to be as strong as braiding is because you have three strands with this being just a twist. The big a part of this look is once you get it tied off. You want to tighten it just to ensure that it stays, and that is what your first side is going to look like. Obviously, you need to get my color done because it fades from you know, dark to light, but now all we're gon na do is the same thing on the side, a big thing we want to be watching for us. We only want to grab the same amount of hair on this side to ensure that they're twins and not like awkward cousins, and that is all that you're gon na be doing for this look making sure they're tight throughout the day. I went like that just to make sure that they weren't getting looser. I didn't want them to get bigger. I liked the tight twist look, and this is the final look. So I love this because I think it's really easy to do, but it also looks really dressed up just so you know I did this look the first time with straight hair and I ended up curling, my hair, just from the standpoint that I felt like it Looked much more mature with curled hair, when I did it with straight hair, I felt like I looked like a 12 year old that was going to camp, and then I did it with curled and I put on a cute outfit, and I was like okay we're Here for it, but that's all that this look is going to call for and another thing that you could do is you could go through and pull these out a bit if you'd want to give it more of like a pancaked, a larger twist. Look if you want to do that, but for this tutorial I just wanted to have a tight twist look. It'S super easy to keep my bangs back and I think it's cute and then they're out of my way for the day. Okay, so the next look is going to be a mohawk pull-through braid, I loved this. Look I wore it when I was wearing a more edgy outfit. The fun part about this one is: it looks like with my short hair. I was able to achieve a really really thick Dutch braid, but in reality it was just ponytails that I twisted around one another. So this tutorial is gon na take a little bit longer. So you want to make sure that you give yourself enough time in the morning or whenever you're doing this, to achieve the look, because it's one that you don't want to go super pass the room. You want to have plenty of little elastics here this one we're gon na be using quite a few of them, depending on your hair length. If you have longer hair you're gon na need more of that, you're gon na need just some sort of clip. This is just to hold some of your hair back as you're twisting. The other part of your hair doesn't need to be cute, it's not staying in the look, and for this one I definitely needed some bobby pins. The having shorter hair with this look looks totally awesome, but you're gon na have some flyaways, especially if you have any sort of bangs or layers so definitely prepare yourself with some of these and or you could also do some hairspray. I ended up air spraying. The look as well, but I don't think that is necessarily needed for everyday. I was just an event that I wanted to ensure that it was picture-perfect for well. I would recommend a middle part. It'S just gon na be easier to work off of because we are doing a mohawk if you start with a side part, it's still possible, but it's just easier to have this line to work off of we're. Gon na take two small elastics, I'm going to create two small ponytails on our head right here. What I'm gon na do for my first ponytail is kind of take my bangs, and that is gon na be a ponytail number one. You don't want this first one to be huge. I may even take some out of it just from the standpoint that this is the only ponytail that you're gon na see in this look when you're looking at it from the front make sure that this first ponytail is small and then you're just going to tie It off like any normal ponytail, and then I just like to tighten it to make sure that it's going to stay for me, like I said I have really fine hair, so I'm just gon na brush through it just to make sure that this ponytail is really Easy for me to work with then I'm gon na create another ponytail right behind it, I'm starting with the front. So you want to take hair from the front and pull it to the back, just as we did the first one again, I'm going to brush out this second ponytail. As you can see it's already tangled a little bit. That'S just my hair and if you are the same way, I recommend doing that. You have this. Look to start your looking cute, you lookin fire. Now we can leave for the day just kidding, but this is where you're gon na want to start and having this clip-on handy when I'm not using it. I just like to clip it onto my shirt just so it's there. I can grab it quickly. What you're gon na do is this first ponytail. I want you to separate it into two equal sections, just like the twist we did and when you want to make sure that every section that you are making is equal throughout this whole looks it'll be obvious, and so I'm going to separate this into two different Ones and then I'm gon na pull this ponytail in between the two of them: okay and then I'm gon na clip this ponytail down. So I'm gon na take my clip from off my shirt and I just want this ponytail to stay there. So it's right there in between the two and we're just going to leave those there. What we're gon na do is we're going to create another ponytail with these in there. So we're gon na pull from front just like we did with the other ones, but including the two that we just separated into two sections and then what I have found is best with. This look is to brush your sections out as you bring them up just to ensure that they are not bumpy and they look good again with this look. You'Re gon na want your ponytails to be of similar thicknesses just to keep everything equal as you create that 22 we're gon na go ahead and we're gon na tie it off after we tie it off. I'M just gon na tighten it now. We can go ahead and unclip. This ponytail put our clip on our shirt. This ponytail, it was just laying down right here. We'Re gon na do exactly what we did to the last one: we're gon na separate it into two equal sections, but this time we're gon na pull the ponytail that we just made through these two sections and clip that one we just wanted to stay here, as We work with this now I'm gon na take my hair from the front and create another ponytail, including that hair, so everything that's down, gets put up in a ponytail and now we have another ponytail. So, basically, at all times, you're gon na have two ponytails you're gon na have one that you have to clip down and a new one that you just made so we're gon na unclip. This one we're gon na take this ponytail that was just clipped down separate. It into two equal sections and we're gon na pull the ponytail that we just made through the middle and clip this one down. Do you guys kind of see the pattern that we're making here it's a little bit more complicated of a hairstyle? But after you do it one time, you'll give it so again, I'm gon na pull up some new hair and we're gon na make a new ponytail, including the hair that was down you're just gon na continue this pattern of making new ponytails, I'm clipping the one That you had clipped separating it and pulling that ponytail through all the way through the rest of your head. Okay, so I have now reached basically the end of my hair. I'Ve done the pull through throughout the entire set of my hair, and now I have everything pulled up into the last. What I'm going to do is I'm going to separate out this section and I'm actually just gon na put it underneath this one and then I'm gon na tie it off just that. I can get one more loop of that like pull through. Look because, obviously I don't have any more hair to right now. Ending your polar braid is kind of your choice, some people that would prefer to just tie this off like this. Have it be a pony some people? If you have longer hair, you could continue to separate and then hole underneath it. I may do it one more time, but for the sake of my tutorial today, I'm gon na be showing you how I like to end mine off, which is with a tiny little bun. So I'm gon na, like I said, do one more just because I feel like I have a lot of extra hair, so I'm gon na separate this one out and then pull it underneath and tie it off again. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na pull these last two sections together and I'm going to turn them into a small bun, but depending on how you do this hairstyle every single time is gon na be different. Sometimes the last tears that you pulled down here will make it so this parade is straight against your head. Sometimes they're gon na be hanging off like this. What I want to do is I want this to be stuffing against my head, so it really gives me that Mohawk feel so we're gon na end up pinning that. But what I want to do is I want this Mohawk to appear bigger, so we're gon na go through and pancake or separate thicken. Whatever word that, you want to use your braids, so all you're gon na do is take these sections and lightly pull them out and make them look thicker while you're pulling you want to ensure you don't pull too much. So a bunch of hair doesn't fly out, but if a little bit does it's totally okay and you're, just gon na go down the whole row and you're going to pancake all of it again slowly, I like to start by pancaking it out and then kind of Grabbing the tips and then pancaking more so like pull it out and then grab the tips and it gives it that kind of extra look, I'm going to pull and then just pull the tips. And I just like this because again it makes it look like my braid is so much bigger than it really is, makes no guys like I even thicker, hair longer hair, whatever you're trying to achieve here. We got it. One tip for this look would be if you have. One of these little side mirrors is to grab it and then look at the hair in your mirror. It just helps a lot with being able to see what the back of your head looks like, and so I will just go through and ensure that all sides are equally as thick. So, like I said with this tutorial, I want this braid. I want this bun to be stuck against my head, so I'm gon na be taking some bobby pins and I'm just going to connect the bun to my head just cuz. I don't want it to stand off by itself. I want it to stick to my head because now that we've done that it gives it that real mohawk vibe, because it now is fully against my head and you're able to see the mohawk all the way down my head. So now you have the choice. If you want it to look a little bit more messy, you don't have to tame those flyaways or you have the option. If you have some flyaways just to take them, take a bobby, pin and pin them into the braid. I don't like to have a ton of bobby pins in my head, just because I feel like they give me a bit of a headache, but that is all we're gon na be doing for this. Look, you guys can't add some bling to it. You can hairspray it down, so it ensures it stays longer, and now you have a really edgy hairstyle and it looks like okay, we're on to our last and final hairstyle. This one does have a little bit of braiding, but it's definitely not as hard as that. Last style, so if you've got the first, two you're gon na be golden for this one. I like tail this one a basket braid, I don't know if there's actually a basket braid out there, but I think it makes the back of your head. Look like a cute little woven basket, so we're gon na call it best braid. For this video, all you're gon na need is elastics and you're going to need a brush, and that's about it. If these tutorials are pretty easy, with what you're gon na need start with the middle part, I recommend 100 %. For this look just from the standpoint of that as you're braiding, it's gon na be easier. If you have two sections, so all I'm gon na do is I'm going to one of my bobby pins. I'M gon na follow my part back and I'm gon na separate my hair into two sections. It doesn't have to be perfect for the sake of this look. I'M separating out the sections just from the standpoint that it'll make it easier for you to braid, but you won't be able to see the sections like individually at the end. So it doesn't need to be that perfect line we're just going to start a normal braid. But we're gon na be adding hairs only on one side, you can choose where you want to start this. Look. You can start it down here, I'm going to start mine up here, just because I want my bangs to be in this look just split they're up and away so we're gon na take a section about this thick. But what we're gon na do is we're going to take a peace sign and we're gon na stab that peace sign into the hair. So it gives us three equal sections with this braid like a normal braid you're gon na go over the middle with this one and over the middle with this one. But what we're gon na do is this hair that is closest to my head. It'S gon na be grabbing hair from right here and then it's gon na go back over the middle. This side is not gon na grab anything. It'S just gon na go how it is this side grabs from the front and then goes over the middle. This side doesn't grab anything, and it just goes how it is, and we're gon na continue this all the way down my head. Alright, then, once we get to the bottom of the braid, we're just gon na tie it off with an elastic. You want to braid as long as you can, because I have shorter hair, that's about as long as I can before. All of my hair starts to fall out of it. It'S gon na look a little weird at this point, and that is a okay and then we're gon na do the same thing with our other side. Alright. So now that we have both of our sides braided, what we're gon na do is we're gon na take this we're gon na. Take this braid hold it out in these sections that are following York. It'S gon na be okay, we're gon na pin it and all you're gon na do is you're gon na take this side push any hairs that come up and flip that, like that and we're gon na pin that don't worry if it doesn't look perfect right now, We'Re just gon na get this pinned, so it stays then you're gon na do the same thing. To this side. You'Re going to flip outward push any hairs that come up back here, pull it over and pin it then for these that are starting to fall. What I'm going to do is I'm going to grab them and I'm going to just push them up into where they would be, and I'm gon na pin them in there and then this side I'm going to take some hair out this side. It has a lot of hair that falls out whenever I do braids to this side and it takes them out with it. I'M gon na pin any flyaways like here, I'm just gon na pin it into the braid and there you go. You have this look. So this works on shorter hair at the back. You can also, instead of just pinning them to the back of your head. You could also put them into a ponytail on the back, but I think this look is so cute. I love it. It gives you that crown braid look without it being over the top and having to do so. Many Bothans and hairspray I'd love to see if you guys try any of these hairstyles. If you do be sure to tag me on instagram at matty corbin. The next video coming up on my channel will be my fall.
