Zipper Braid Hair Tutorial (2 Ways) | Braided Hairstyles

Hey guys! In this hair tutorial, I will show you how to do a Zipper Braid / Suspended Infinity Braid on yourself. There are many braiding techniques that you can use to get this "zipper" design and this one is the easiest if you're doing it on yourself. ^_^ Thumbs up this video for more easy or braided hairstyles and keep the requests coming!
Note: Since you have to keep your hair in your mouth to do this on yourself, you will need medium to long hair for this braided hairstyle. If you noticed in the video, my hair is shorter! I got 5 inches cut off at base and 10 inches off the shortest layers. I initially wanted 3-5 inches off but my hairstylist & friend ended up cutting more. Typical. lol ^_^" I'm happy with it though and I'll show you how to dye it lighter in my upcoming video. Stick around. :)

This braided hairstyle can be done on straight or wavy hair. You can wear it casually to work and school or even dress is up for prom and weddings! Just curl the ponytail and add some volume to the crown of your head. It works best on medium to long hair and if you have short hair, you can always wear clip-in hair extensions.

Hey guys me here in this video, I'm going to show you how to do this requested, look, which is a do-it-yourself super braid. Now this hairstyle is also known as the suspended infinity braid, because it uses a similar technique to that of the Dutch infinity braid, which I did a while back. But this one has a couple of extra steps. So, if you're ready for an arm, workout then keep on watching first off brush your hair and make sure that it's tangle free next pick up a section of hair at the top of your head and divide it into two equal sections. For this tutorial, I'm going to label the left one a and the right two and B and keep in mind that a and B never moves throughout this entire video. So they stay in the same spot. To start the braid. You want to pick up a section of hair on one side of your head and I'm going to start on my right side. So you want to pick up a section about this thick and then you're going to weave it over B and under a now with this new strand. You want to keep it out of the way, so I'm going to place it over my head and hold it with my mouth, give a good grip of strand a and B again then pick up some hair on the left side, just like so and this time You'Re going to weave it over a but before you wee bit under B, you want to release the previous strand that you had in your mouth and you're, going to add it to strand 8 now continue to weave the newer strand under strand B then place it Over your head and hold it with your mouth now that we're back on the right side, you want to repeat the same steps so pick up a section of hair right below the first one place it over strands, be release the previous strand and add it to Strand B, then continue to weave the newer strand under strand a and place it in your mouth again pick up some hair on the left side place it over strand a release. The previous strand from your mouth. Add it to strand a then weave the newer strand under B and place it over your head and into your mouth, since this is just the start of the braid. You can't really see the design, so I'm going to work this braid down to the nape of my neck, I'm going to walk you through this one more time before I speed it up. The new strand goes over release the previous strand from your mouth and add it to strands V then continue weaving the newer strand under a and keep it out of the way by placing it in your mouth. Now that the braid is further down, you don't have to place the new strand over your head and in your mouth. The main point is to just have the newer strand go under the previous strand. Just remember that the new strand always goes over, then the previous strand gets released and added to strand a then the new strand goes under B and in your mouth. If you want, you can start this braid near the hairline edge of forehead, and then you can stop half way so that it will be a half up. Half down hairstyle, like my Dutch infinity braid or you can just start where I did and continue all the way down until you reach the nape of your neck. One important thing that I forgot to mention is that you should always have a nice tight grip on strand a and B. Otherwise your braid might look loose and undone when all your hair is incorporated into the braid. You want to tie it off with an elastic band. Next, you can conceal the hair tie by using the hair wrap technique, but I'm just going to use a flowery click to accessorize. So here's the completed look, I think it's really cute and best of all it took less than 10 minutes to do. You can certainly leave the braids like this because it looks pretty good as it is, but if you want to, you can also add volume to the braid by gently tugging on the outer strands, and this will also give it a whole different lift.
