To get the look, all you need is damp hair, curl-defining mousse, and a hair dryer {with diffuser}. The diffuser attachment slows down and disperses the air evenly from the dryer while its fingers gently separate the hair without blowing out your curl.
What I really love is that you can use these curls as a base for any number of hairstyle combinations {updos, buns, twists, French braids, Dutch braids, fishtail braids, pancake braids, accent braids, side braids, etc}.

[, MUSIC PLAYING ] Hi guys., I'm Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles and today I'm joining up with the Suave Professionals''' Style. It Yourself'' program to show you guys a DIY that we're calling `` how to get diffused. Curls ,'', like you, can see I'm wearing right now.. So this is definitely one of our highly requested tutorials, because you guys know that I'm always wearing my hair in curls or waves, and people are always asking how to do it.. So I'm going to show you today how to get a salon, look --, but you are only going to be using mousse and a diffuser., And now you guys can see I just washed my hair. So it's still wet. And if you look, you can see that I have what I call `` wave.''. So I don't have tight curl, but I have some wave., But I have seen girls that even have straighter hair than I do. Do this same technique and they can still get those really great waves that everyone wants. And if you're one of the girls with the curlier hair, then this style is going to help you to soften and define those curl. But it's also going to help control some frizziness. And there are only three steps.. So let's get going. Today, I'm working with a new product from Suave.. It'S called Suave Professionals, Luxe Curl Mousse., And I am going to just take it shake the can a little bit and put some in my palm.. I use about that much.. You can use more or less depending on what you want., I like to use a little more.. I take it and I put some just in the roots up top to begin like this, and then I just work it down through the ends.. I use a little bit more than some people because I have thick hair and I like it all over my hair.. So I'm just going to make sure I'm working it in. And then just drag it down with your fingers through your hair, like this., Adding the mousse will help define the curls in your hair, but it's still going to keep your hair, soft and really frizz resistant, Which is great when you're about to blow dry it. For the next step, you need to grab your diffuser and your hair, dryer and you're, going to pop your diffuser on the front of your hair, dryer and start diffusing.. Now, if you haven't used a diffuser before what it does is separates the air as it comes out of the blow dryer., The air coming right out of the nozzle is way too strong, and it's going to just blow all your curls out of shape, and it's Going to make them frizzy., So the little fingers on this diffuser right here helps separate your hair as it dries. So it helps your hair, keep its shape.. Now I'm going to flip my head upside down and shake it a little bit just because that helps my hair fall into its natural curl pattern.. Then we're going to start diffusing. When I'm diffusing, I like to move the diffuser up and down through my hair sort of in an upward motion, starting at the ends and working up to the roots. And then with my left hand, I just take it and squeeze The hair and scrunch it to add a little more curl as we go along.. Ok at this point turn it off flip your head back, -- right-side up., And go ahead and set your part line wherever you want that to be.. I usually part just slightly off to the left., And what you're going to do now is just tweak the front until you like the way it looks.. This is going to be totally dependent on your personal taste and how much curl you want and how much structure., If you need to just get a little more curl in the front. You can always turn your blow dryer back on really low and go ahead and just work, some more right in the front. And take your hand and scrunch like this right on those front pieces as you dry., And that's going to fake a little more curl than You might otherwise have., So I'm going to do that a little bit on both sides, -- just right in the front here., So you're going to go ahead and just set things. The way you want them. Now remember that this is a natural hairstyle. So it's not going to be perfect or uniform.. In my opinion, the beauty of this hairstyle lies in the unique curl patterns and the definition brought out by the mousse.. Don'T worry if it's too puffy for you. Your hair will settle after a few minutes. And to finish it off. You can take a little bit of hairspray if you need to and just spritz it to just help, add a little extra hold on those curls. And you're good to go.. Let'S do the final spin., It's funny when I wear my hair this way, because people are always asking me for a tutorial or saying things like. Oh, your hair, so curly., We didn't even know you've got all this natural curl. And I just kind of chuckle, because I know that styling it yourself is really easy. In my opinion, if you don't already have at least a little bit of natural wave to your hair then it doesn't work well. You Either Have To use so much mousse that your hair looks and feels crunchy, or it just looks like a mess any way! Lol either way, not a good look for those of us with poker straight hair ;) It looked great on you, Mindy, but I think it's bc you have some natural wave. Love all your hair styles though.
