Christina xx

Hi I'm Christina from Harriman's comm. Today. I'Ve got a different kind of tutorial for you. I was inspired by Instagram and follow at what Lydia likes, who posted a beautiful video of three easy hairstyles with a scarf, but she did it in her hair, which is really fine and straight. So I thought it'd be good to see it in sort of much thicker, wavy, curly type, hair and I've got a few extra styling tips if you've got curly hair that you can do these styles as well. I think so many beautiful hairstyle tutorials on Instagram, but most of the time they're in straight hair. So let me know if you like this style of tutorial, where I'll recreate them in my hair and with more tips for curls as well. Okay, let's get to the tutorials when doing an updo in curly hair. The hardest part is figuring out how to style the front of your hair I'll link to my video on this topic, but for this style I want to keep a little bit of volume. On top and I'm gon na leave some loose layers out at the sides. I spend more time on this part than doing the actual bun then gather your hair into a ponytail I'm using an invisible elastic to secure the ponytail and on the second twist, I'm looping. My hair, through to create the bun, can smooth all your hair down, but I like to emphasize the texture of my hair. Pull a few curls above the elastic to keep the shape and volume of the bun then take the ends of your ponytail and wrap them over your hair, elastic, pin them in place with a bobby pin or two. Now you could wear this bun as is or add, in a scarf for a cute summer, detail I'm using a square scarf and rolling it up. Diagonally then thread one end through the loop of your bun tying it up on top once you've tied that first knot at the top bring the ends around and tie them underneath as well angling, the tips out just so you can see them at the sides of The bun now I've still got lots of loose layers and you can leave them out if you like, but I'm going to tuck them into the loop as well. You can always add a bobby pin to pin them in place if you need to, and that's it a super quick and easy style that dresses up a basic bun. This style has two Dutch braids connecting to a bun at the back. I'Ve done a side part, but a center part would be perfect too. Just trying to disguise my roots a little bit here. To be honest. Now, when you're braiding curly hair it's hard to get it really neat and impossible to get even sections, so I recommend working with what your hair is doing, adding in whole curls when you can is much easier, as you won't break up your hair, causing more frizz In a Dutch braid is the reverse of a French braid, I'm crossing the sections under and adding in hair as I go. If you can feel a knot forming just add in more hair. Instead of trying to separate that curl and now my favourite bit stretching out that braid makes your hair look so much thicker and really emphasizes that braid detail. And now we're going to repeat that Dutch braid on the opposite side, picking up a section at the front. Splitting it into three and then we're crossing the sections under the middle to form the braid stretching out your braids is a great way as well to hide any regrowth. So now we've got our two braids it's time to join them together and create a mini looped button tie your elastic round and then I'm undoing any braids as left in that area, so that I can loop my hair to create the button stretch and fan it Out to make the bun look bigger and check if you need to adjust the braids, as well as with the first bun, we're going to do the same thing and bring the ends around and over the top of the bun. To pin them in place with bobby pins if your hair's longer than mine just leave any loose ends out underneath the bun. Now we're going to take our scarf, placing it under the bun and tying it in a knot on top then just adjust and leave the scarf end hanging down loose on either side and you're done. The first step with this style is to gather a section at the top of your hair and secure it with an elastic, a small, clear one is best or really. The first step should be decide how you want the front of your hair to look I'm going for more volume in the top section, so stretching it at the top, and I'm going to leave some layers out at the side. Now, take your scarf, making a hole above your hair, elastic to thread the scarf through make sure your scarf is, even as your French braid will be formed from the two ends of the scarf and your ponytail. As you add in hair to the scarf sections, try and keep the scarf on top so that it stands out in the finished style I found my hair was getting really tangled, but when I was doing a French braid, so I added in larger sections of hair When you're braiding, curly hair, you really do have to work with what your curls are doing so taking larger sections can make it easier taking in larger sections, also makes it a quicker style to do once all the hair is added into the braid we're going to Create a ponytail, and for this I'm using a hair bungee. This is much easier in curly hair because you don't have to pull your hair through an elastic it wraps around your hair and hooks underneath then adjust your scarf so that the end sit on top of your ponytail and if your scarfs a little bit hidden in Your braids, you can go back through and pull it so that you can see the style more and that's it perfect summer here. So what did you think of these tutorials? I mean quite look the same as when Lydia did them, but that's the point with curly hair. It'S never going to look exactly the same, but you can create your own style with it as well. Would you like to see more tutorials of me doing?
