My name is Dana and I make curly hair videos to help embrace your natural curly or wavy texture. Here you'll find curly / wavy hair routines, product reviews, first impressions, lifestyle content, and more! I hope you stick around :)

[ Applause, ], hey guys so today I am going to be sharing with you three different hairstyles that you can recreate if you were having a bad hair day if you're transitioning. Basically these are going to cover up your hair, but in a really cute way. Let'S go ahead and get started. My style for hairstyles tends to be on the Messier side. So that's what we're going to be focusing on today, I'm going to be using this Garnier Fructis cure clean, finishing paste. This is part of their line. That is, I believe, like silicones, sulfate, no silicones, parabens or dyes, so we'd like to take a little bit of this on my fingers and then I just like to run it through my root area. This is just going to add a little bit of texture make my hair a little bit less soft, and it's also going to help with any flyaways that we have so now. Taking my flat bobby pins, I'm just going to pin random areas back you'll see what I mean. I prefer this method for doing updos, as opposed to just like gathering all of my hair up in a ponytail, because it just gives some more texture throughout the roots and it helps with volume, and it just gives you that overall messy look that we're going for. So you pin as much or as little back as you want. I kind of just focused on like this area here, so we're just going to gather all of our hair into a ponytail and then from any type of loose bun and then just go ahead and secure that with some bobby pins look number two is going to Be a braid I love braids because they look so complicated and granted a lot of them are and I cannot do them, but I can do this braid you're going to do to start off with, and I feel like this is really important. Is you want to secure the base of your hair with one of these little, like rubber bands that you can just cut off when you're done wrap our hair around this? So for fishtail braids, we start off with two sections of hair. From this first section, I'm going to grab a piece of hair from the outside okay. Now we need this section again and then I'm going to cross this little piece of hair over gather it in the hand, that's holding the other section and then we're going to repeat the same thing at the other way. So taking a little section from the outside. This part of the hair crossing it over in front grabbing it with this hand, then you literally just keep repeating that you can take as big or as small sections as you want. I like to do slightly smaller sections because of my layers. I feel like it just holds the hair in a bit better, so there's a little time consuming it's not the fastest braid. I also feel like a fishtail. Braid is a good option for those of you who are transitioning, and maybe you have like breakage or shorter layers, or anything like that, because your hair is actually pretty secure and I'm going to use another little rubber elastic to just secure the bottom. Now it's time to cut this little elastic here and just hopefully don't cut any of her hair. Now what you do with this portion of your hair is really going to depend upon your layers and the lens. If you have bangs - or you know whatever, I always like some face framing pieces - I just kind of like to like leave these out and even if they're not perfect or like good curls, I'm totally fine with that. You can just take a little bit more of this paste and you can manipulate some pieces. I really like this paste because it doesn't make your hair sticky or anything, but it does provide a little bit of hold for last hairstyle we're going to be doing another updo, so you may want to start off by sectioning your hair in basically, we need two Large layers or pieces in the front because we're going to create like a little braided situation, I feel like you're, never section enough hair and then it looks for your time, just not going to section my hair, but you may want to. I can sort of, I think it's Dutch braid, I know like French braiding is where one is crossed over and then Dutch braiding is like one is crossed under I don't know I can do that, but simplify it and to make everyone's life easier. I'M actually going to be doing like a faux Dutch braid, where I only use two sections of hair, so we're gon na take a section of hair. Now, if you have really thin hair, like my hair, isn't very thick, I don't like to take really large sections, but you may want to work in smaller sections if you have very fine hair. So we have these two pieces right here. I'M going to cross this piece over top of the other and then with this little piece that was crossed over this piece were going to grab a little bit of hair. Make this strand slightly bigger and then cross that over top and we're going to keep doing that so now, with this piece, we're gon na take a little bit of hair cross that over top again take a little bit of hair cross that over top okay. So I'm gon na do that till I get to about my ear now. I'Ve purposely left some of the hairs out over here, because I kind of like when those fall, but if you don't want these pieces out just kind of incorporate them, I'm just going to just put a clip over here now, just while I do the other side Now we're going to secure these with bobby pins. I'D probably just could have done that on the other side in the first place, but that's fine play with and loosen this as much as you want. So now, all that's left to do is secure your hair. However, you want, because we have a little bit of structure to the front of the hair I like to kind of grab pieces haphazardly. So I just kind of like pushed my hair up and I'm going to pin it and see like what I come up with. Oh, I have to get it into like a bun formation. That'S going to wrap it up for me today. I hope you found this video helpful. Please don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already. Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope you have an amazing day, a wonderful rest of your week and I will see you soon.

Holly Miller: I'm 1:17 in, and I already feel like you changed my life!!!!!!! My hair never looks as cute as other curly girls when I put it in a pony tail! I couldn't figure it out, but I bet clipping it up first is really going to help. THANK YOU!!

shawtygirl608: I'm so happy I found a hair twin! Finally some relatable hair advice and habits to mimic!

Emma S: I love this! Thank you so much for all the hairstyle ideas :)

EmilyRickers: 4:52 ok, I know I'm late, I just found your channel, but, if you see this I thought I'd let you know! Dutch and french braids are what you described them as, but what you did in the video (your simplified version) was technically a flat twist. A lot of people would call it a rope braid, which is kinda true, but a rope braid includes taking two sections of hair, twisting them in the same direction, and then twisting them around each other in the opposite direction that you originally twisted them in (if that makes sense lol). Flat twisting is a variation of the rope braid, and it's exactly what you did. You take two sections of hair and begin twisting them around each other, without twisting them separately before. You add hair only to the bottom section of hair. Again, if that makes sense, I know I'm not the best at explaining things. I hope this helped? Just thought I'd let you and your viewers know!

kilroyscarnivalfl: Love the styles! I did look up that Garner paste’s ingredients in Curlsbot; since it contains beeswax it isn’t strictly CGM approved but glad it works for you!

Farah Kiswani: This is so great! Ideas that aren’t repetitive! Definitely going to try these!

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Hi, Jen here. Your hair looks so pretty in these styles! That is a great product! I've loved that finishing cream ever since I saw Becky ( the Polished Curl) recommend it. I use it after I scrunch out the crunch if I need to tame a few frizzies. It makes everything look polished and smoother.

Fatima Maniyar: You make everyone’s life so easy ❤️

Laura Jasmin: I like the braid. A sea salt spray mist is essential for that look. Thanks for sharing!

Somerainmustfall: Is it just me or did your bangs grow back quickly? It gives me hope because I got mine cut a week ago and I hate them, lol. Doing everything I can now to help my hair grow!
