Hi, I'm Christina and welcome back to hair romance I'm going to start a new series talking about Kelly haircuts, because it's something I get asked all the time and also I've just had my hair cut. So I thought it would be a really good opportunity to start talking about it. Today'S video is just about why I don't have my hair cut dry, it's quite popular and probably for a lot of good reasons to have curly hair cut dry, but I wanted to talk about the reason. I don't do that with my hair. Now, where do you see a curl specialist or not, there's a lot of hairdressers who don't understand curls and there's a lot of hairdressers who really do understand curls? And so, if you have curly, hair you've probably been through a huge run, to try and find someone who actually understands at the moment. I have. I found a couple of amazing hairdressers and for me it was a hairdresser right at the start and actually how I romance began that really changed my relationship with my curly hair. I really do think that, no matter what type of curls you have, the haircut you have is the most important part to actually really understanding and loving your curls. Now, there's a few reasons, I don't have my hair cut dry, which that's wrong to talk about today, and the first one is that dry, hair cuts by their nature are uneven. When you have your hair cut dry you're going to the hairdresser with your hair already styled, and then they will actually then just create a shape from your dry curls. But when your hair is then straightened, which is another reason I don't have my hair cut dry because I still like to wear my hair straight you'll find that your haircut is quite uneven and that's because shrinkage is real curls and your hair straight to your hair. Curly is a totally different length and for every curl that will be different, and so it's quite important to have your hair in the style. That makes sense for the way your going to wear it for me, because I do hair amounts and I do like to change my hair a lot. I wear my hair curly a lot of the time, but I also still straighten it and if I was to have my hair cut totally dry, when I straighten it, it would be completely uneven, and so that is one reason that or two reasons it is uneven And you'll notice that when I wear my hair straight at the two reasons that I don't have my hair cut dry, another reason I also don't have my hair cut dry is because my curls are really uneven. I find that from day to day, different styling. Well, my curls will sit differently. You might find the same or you might have had. That is really really consistent and always curls the same way. So for me that if unevenness of the dry cut also shows up quite a lot for me when I wear my hair curly, even or wearing my hair straight so for me, there's a couple of reasons that you can see. Why cutting my hair dry? It'S not exactly right, but it is something you should talk about with your hairdresser and also will depend on how you wear your hair curly. One thing I think that's sometimes important is even if you have your hair cut wet like I do that you have a chat, your hedgerow, so once you've had it dry and you're wearing it curly, because you might find that it is dusted a little funny, and It'S okay, then, to give you a hairdresser call and also just to even it up a little bit if that is we're not working for you and for your curls now in case you're wondering - and I have two films that I really love at the moment. I go to Stevie English, hair and Stevie does my color, but this week I was lucky to have Alex. Do it because Stevie has been flying around the world doing here for hip, matrix and he's been is always off anyway. So it's hard to pin him down, but I know I'm good hands in the salon with anyone there, because the team was so fantastic and Alex is also a curly hair specialist. So if you are looking to get your hair cut dry alex is the one to see there and then this time I was also lucky to have my dear friend, Anthony Nader cut my hair Anthony is an incredible hairdresser he's away as well at the moment, he's Over in New York, but I managed to grab him just before he were left and he gave me this great cut. So I've actually had quite a bit chopped off something I'll go into another video, whether you can have long hair and blonde hair. At the same time, sadly, not for me, but maybe you can that'll be in topic for another video, but I hope that makes sense as to why I don't cut my hair dry and why I still like to have my hair cut, wet and I'd love to Hear from you and if you found a great curly hair dresser and what sort of haircuts work best for you coming up in the next video I'm going to go through the best types of haircuts for curly hair and how to work out. What'S gon na best sit for your curls and how you're going to wear them? If you want more curly hair tips and advice, come over to Hera, mats and I'll also link a playlist of all my curly hair videos that you can watch as well. Bye see you next time,

missrocat22: I'm so happy you posted a video about this! I unfortunately found out the hard way that for my curls and lifestyle a dry cut wouldn't work for me but now I know this and can at least say I tried it. Having a wet hair cut is the best method for my curly hair as well. What do you ask for when getting your curly hair cut? Do you get long layers... I'd love it if you could perhaps share this in your upcoming curly style videos. Your hair is beautiful!

The Bear: I love your haircut! I have really similar curls to you and this is definitely similar to what I want to get! :)

Julie Smits: Thank you for making a video on this. I'm getting my hair cut next week and the salon refuses to do dry cuts, which stressed me out a little bit. They told me to trust them, but this video helped a ton with actually building the trust up in the first place.

Marleen G.: I think the looser the curl, or wave even, the better it is to cut it straight. Because that type of hair is terribly inconsistent. I only have 2c wavy hair, 3a on a good styling day, so straight cuts all the way.

Kerri Eldredge: Hi, Christina! Thanks for your great content! I really appreciate your views on using a modified curly girl method. I have wavy hair and I have been really trying the CGM. I feel so frustrated! Unfortunately, I got a Ouidad curly haircut and my hair is now horrible. It's full near the roots and stringy at the ends. It's going to be a long time before it can grow out. Oh, well...it's only hair!

Emma Davis: I get my hair cut dry by the amazing guys at Project One in Chippendale. Honestly having my hair dry has been a revolution for me - my hair looks so much better. Even though I have inconsistent curls like you, the cut makes it sit so beautifully each time. I never straighten my hair though so the unevenness doesn't bother me. Thanks for doing some vids on curly hair! x

Kendra B: thank you so much! this was very helpful for me. I've never had my curls cut dry because of the same reasons as you! my curls also have a mind of their own, so their shapes tend to shift and change each time I style my hair! I'd also love to hear what I should be asking for at a hair salon. I'm never quite sure my stylist and I are in the same page!

Sparkling Tiara: Hi Christina Thanks for your advice and videos. I was just wondering why my low porosity dry hair type 3b naturally curly hair falls into a triangle when ever I do a half up half down style. The last time I cut my hair, the hairdresser put layers in and my hair now sits just above my shoulders as I am trying to grow my hair long. Also, do you recommend a pre-shampoo with an oil? If so, which oil is best for my curly hair? Kind regards, Sparkling Tiara.

Krisia Vaca: i agree!! it is best (for me at least) to have your curly hair cut wet, I actually do it this way because I don't like my hair too short. I've been living in the USA for 11 years now and it was in Brooklyn NY where I found the best curly hair hairstylist, she is from the Dominican republic and really knows curly and kinky hair. she was able to restore my curls and give me the perfect haircut so that my hair didn't end up looking like crusty the clown lol! she always cuts my hair in layers and always looks good and grows really healthy!

Stanley Family: I have thick, wavy hair (ranging from 2a-2c, mostly 2b) and have yet to get a haircut since starting to embrace my natural hair. I was wondering about a dry cut, but am now thinking I should go back to doing a wet cut. I have always had it washed before getting my hair cut. Is that something you would recommend if they have sulfate-free products? Or should I just have them wet it? I’ve been using the Curly Girl method for about 6 months, but my hairstylist has never heard of it. (I know CG says to cut dry.)

Christen Mallett: Those are actually all the reasons I DO get mine cut (and prefer to cut my clients) dry. Every curl on my head is different and if it’s cut wet or straight then I get shelfy layers because tighter curls spring way up above looser curls and my ends get stringy and see through. It’s cool to see how different everyone’s hair is and how it lays with different cuts tho!

Stephanie Chaparro: Wow, thanks for the information! I always thought it was best to cut it dry

Nue:B: I don’t like mine cut dry either. I always get massive split ends. And curl needs curl to support it that’s why I feel cutting curl hair wet and on an angle is perfect for me.

Nikki Hulland: If I've got wavy hair, should I go in with it styled with product, or completely clean in its natural style?

Haydee Z: OMG, i want to know what the cut is? You went on and on and on and on about wet vs dry. Can you please tell me what the cut is? thank you

Marc Possoff: Hi what about if you don't wear your hair straight?

Zaina Haddad: CAn you provide the info for both stylist

Gipsykiss F.: I like to have my hair straight then get it cut. Makes it even on the bottom.

DMarie: what kind of cut do you have here?

Shanaynay O'keil: noooooo where is the brush mic???
