All right, my friends, so this is my hair. I have it up in um my turban towel, i'm taking it out, so it's been just kind of drying in here and it's in twist and i've been wearing these twists for a day now. So my hair is definitely going to be a bit like elongated, but don't worry, i will bring these curls back to life um if any of you ever wear. You know your hair and twist for a few days, you'll notice that your hair just starts to elongate and your curls will elongate, but by adding a lot more water it will revitalize them and bring them back to life. So before we dive right into it. I want to show you what products i'm going to be using on my hair um, so i'm going to be using the same products for both sides of my hair um. So there's no difference in that. It'S really just the technique that i'm going to show you when applying your products. So i'm going to choose this um right side of my body here, right side of my head. This is going to be the elongated stretched side of my hair and then on the left. I'M going to do the tighter kind of afro textured curls and get that result. So you can see the difference so then you can decide for yourself. How do i want to style my hair, you know for this week? Do i want to go more afro, you know style or do i want more curl definition and have my hair a bit more elongated, i'm going to be using my trusty handy dandy. Camille rose. I love this product. I'Ve been using it for about a month now, and this is also going to be my leave-in in case you were wondering leave-in product right here, all right, so for my sealant i'm going to use gel, i use a gel for my sealant. Most weeks - and this is the raw curls gel - i've been rocking and wearing, and using this for months now - and it's still been awesome - really love this product. I have my spray bottle for water to revitalize my curls, and then i have a pack of snappy hair ties that i will be using to put my hair up. These are some extra ones that i've already been using, but that was what they look like in the packaging and intermittently i'd be using a denman brush that i can use to make sure i create more curls and more definition, and last but not least i'll, be Using this handy dandy, blow dryer with a diffuser cap to help set my curls in place, okay. So now what we're going to do is i'm going to basically take out my hair, i'm going to take out this side and i'm going to do one section on this side at the same time, i'll be doing another section on the right side. Just so you can see it like, you know neck to neck, seeing what's going on here as i'm doing it, okay, so i've taken those two out, i'm going to put all of my hair back again. If you have hair. Like me, i am a type 4 girl, so i have a little bit of 4a4b in a tiny bit of 4c, like back here and my hair porosity is low, porosity um in most areas of my hair, i have some high porosity or, like medium medium porosity About right here so just to let you know that okay, so i'm gon na re-wet, my hair, so take my water bottle spray it it's really dry right now, so i'm gon na put a lot of water to really bring back the curls and, of course, when You'Re adding your product, you probably don't, need to put as much as water, because, ideally you want to do this right out of the shower with most products. If you struggle getting product to stay on your hair and really penetrate it's, because you probably need a little bit more water in your hair, so try that and then work it into your hair. Okay. So now this left side, i'm starting with tangles there. Um is the side that i'm going to do more of an afro textured look, so the key to doing that is when you're, taking your leave-in i'll, show you how much i have in my hand there you're not going to work it as much into your hair. You'Re just going to like lightly coat your hair you're also going to start, i want to say about an inch inch and a half down from the root, because if we put it all the way to the root, then our hair is just going to slope down. It'S going to create more elongation, but we want more volume, so we're going to start down here. So i'm just going down here and i'm just working it into my hair slightly not too much and i'm just kind of coating, my hair a little bit with it. That'S pretty much all i'm doing and then you'll see on the right side. When i get there how much more i work it into my hair. Okay. So now i'm going to take my gel, which i have here, i'm going to put a lot less than i normally do, i'm going to do about half of it. Do you see that it's like a dime size? That'S about half of the amount of gel that i would put on my right side, the more elongated curls and the reason being is. I want my hair to come up. I wanted to do more of an afro, so i'm going to use less gel so that it's not weighing my hair down and i find when i put more gel, i get more curl definition. Thus more definition also is going to create more elongation in the curls and my curls weigh down. So i'm going to put that on my hair and i just fill it out like if this feels light nice and loose, then that's what we want to go for. Okay cool, so it's nice and loose, i could probably add a tiny bit more gel that wasn't that much yeah i'll just go ahead and add a little bit more in there. Okay, cool that feels good. So now i'm gon na take my snappy hair tie and i'm gon na just put this up in a little bun for the moment, just because i don't want it to be smacking me in the face with product and water and all that you guys know. Okay, so now i'm on the right side, now we're gon na focus on the elongation here. Okay, so my hair is all wet and i'm just working my hands through it and working the water into my hair. Because again, my hair has pretty much been completely dried. Since this morning, when i took a shower okay, there we go so now to get more curl definition in elongated curls. What i do is i take my leave-in. I put the same amount that i was putting on the left side and i really work this into my hair. Do you see this? I like squeeze it into the hair, and this is what you're going to want to do at home same thing: squeeze it another. One is like the praying hands method where you're pushing it in, and this really works to get the product into the hair. And now, once i have the product in my hair, i'm going to take my denim brush and i'm going to go and start from the bottom and i'm going to comb it through. This is going to bring the curls back together. It'S going to make them congregate and create more of a. I guess you could say singular motion and create more curl definition. You can already start to see them coming together and just know from my hair. I don't get a ton of curl definition, so it's not going to be super curly, but it's going to be a lot more than the left side. Okay, so i've already combed it all through. My hair is still feeling a bit dry. So i'm going to add more product and you can actually go in heavy on product because again we want to weigh our curls down. So that's going to be totally okay to put more product and work it into the hair. So if you're a product junkie and you like putting on heavy products and going heavy honey, this is this: is your jam right here? Okay, now i make sure my hair feels quite moisturized before i go and add the gel, i'm actually going to add a little bit more water now for the gel, i'm going to add double the amount that i added previously on my left side here. So if you can see that it's about a quarter size worth of gel that i'm going to go ahead and put in my hair now and then i'm going to do the same thing like i did before, and i'm going to just work it all throughout my Hair, so, as we can see already, this side already has a lot more definition and it's weighing itself down and then the side is like already bigger and sticking out from the side. So i'm going to go back in off camera and i'm going to do the same thing for both sides and then i'm going to come back and show you the next step and the next step is going to be the diffusing and the technique. How to diffuse your hair to get the desired results so i'll be right back okay, so i'm back. I went ahead and put product all throughout my hair and, as you can see, it's really obvious right now. What side has more curl definition more elongation and what side has a little bit more of an afro textured look going on um. So let me just review what i've done so on this left side. Here i put less product in my hair. I started from about an inch down from the roots and i just lightly coated my hair with the gel i put the leave in and then i put the gel and i started to get results like this, which i love now in a lot of my previous Videos my hair was more so like this, which is one of my favorite ways to help protect. My hair help grow it and also help retain length, and this is all things that you would get from doing the same technique on your side of your hair. So um on your side of your hair on your hair is what i mean so i started from the root applying product all the way down to the tips, and i really heavily went in and put a lot of product and also went heavily with the water On my hair, so leave-in gel and water, and so as you can see, it's, the sides actually dripping a lot more than this side. This doesn't have so much trippage. So now the next step to creating and setting this hairstyles on each side is going to be to diffuse it. So i have my handy dandy, diffuser right here, so it's just a blow dryer with a diffuser cap now to get of a more afro look on this side, i'm going to use the diffuser cap and the way i'm going to use it is i'm going to Put it up under my hair and i'm going to go in like this and i'm kind of squinching my hair up and then when it starts to get a lot more drier. I'M going to further go like this, so that i'm creating more of an up. Look now with this side, i'm actually going to take the diffuser cap off and i'm going to hold my hair, stretching it slightly and then blow drying it like this. So i'm going to go in i'm going to do both the of my hair on each side and we'll see the final results very shortly. All right, all right friends, i'm back! Look at my hair, so it's like 80 percent dry um. I have to stop there because i'm, like you, know what, how am i gon na rock my hair for the rest of the week like this so um? I didn't go in fully dry it, but you get the picture it's there. Do you see the side after blow drying and going in with the diffuser cap? It really puffs up my hair and again, the technique is really just going in and putting the cap all around like this and just making my hair kind of stand up and then on my right side to keep the elongation, keep my curls down and keep more Curl definition, i really just focused on going in blow drying it from the top and kind of stretching it by holding my hair just slightly to set it in place and just going around each section like that, and that's really how you can get two different looks By having the same head of hair that you don't have to do anything special to your hair, it's really just all technique. So some of you who asked how do you get your hair in that afro state? It'S by doing this technique that i used on my lap and then how i get my curls to look elongated my hair to kind of stay down. It'S the technique that i did right here on the right side. The last thing i just want to say is that, if you're going fully in on the afro look, go ahead, get a pick or a brush comb, anything that you have and go inside and pick up those roots. This is what's really going. Look at that really. What'S going to bring it to life, and when you do this, only do the roots. Don'T do your ends, you don't want to break your hair off. You don't want to comb your hair ever when it's dry. Never ever do that when your hair is dry, especially if you're a type 4 girl and my daughter satori. Let'S put a picture of her here. She has type 3 hair and i never comb her hair without adding some type of water or moisture type of product to her hair. Alright, so that's it. I hope you guys really enjoyed this video. If you love this video, give it a big thumbs up because the more thumbs up we get on this video, the more comments, the more youtube will share it to other naturals, who could really use this education and this knowledge so that they can really enjoy loving Their hair and just help them through their natural hair journey.
