Hi guys Rachel CPR here today, I wanted to show you exactly how I make my DIY moisturizing and styling cream. You will need not very many things. You will need a heat-resistant bowl, I'm using cocoa butter and I'm going to need a grater in order for me to melt that down without having to use excessive heat, because then you lose some of the properties I'm going to use coconut oil. I am going to use aloe vera gel, you can use the gel or the Jews. The gel is a little bit thicker. So I like that more I am going to be putting in a couple drops of the vitamin E or it's preserving properties, as well as a little bit of cinnamon or a little bit more of a sense and for its preserving properties. I am also going to be using xanthan gum. This is the Boggs you get this in the flower section of the supermarket. I am only going to use a very small amount of this and you would just definitely gradually add this, because you don't want to use too much of it, because this will cause flaking and then you are going to need some type of containers to store your Cream, this cream is something that you would store in the refrigerator because I'm not going to put a preservative, that's going to hold it outside of the refrigerator, and I did try to add citric acid to this mixture. But it does change the consistency a lot, and so I just make it in small batches. So what I'm going to do to start off is I am going to grate my cocoa butter. This is about I'm going to do about half of this block right here and I'm going to add it to what I already have here and again, I'm going to greet this so that I don't have to use too much heat to get it to melt down. I have some water boiling on the stove, I'm not going to cook the cocoa butter into the water, I'm actually going to take my bowl and just put it on top so that it can, and this part of it you adjust it to what you want for Your hair - I don't like for my hair to feel oily or greasy, so this is about what we have. I don't know what that would be. This is almost a full cup when it's chopped up like this. It'S almost a whole cup of cocoa butter, which is a lot of cocoa butter, but I don't want my product to flake, so I'm using a little bit more in the cocoa butter is, does seem to be what balances it out and so now this mixture is What I'm going to put as it into the double boiler? So now we can set aside our cocoa butter and our the next step is just basically to watch this to make sure that it doesn't have any issues. Okay, so the butters have all melted down. We just left it on the double Boyle area for about two and a half three minutes. It boiled down very very quickly and it melted down very, very quickly, and so now what I'm going to do is. I am going to gradually add one cup of the aloe vera juice. I am going to add one cup of the aloe vera juice, so this is a gradual thing and it is best to add the aloe vera juice when it is room temperature at least room temperature. Simply because you don't want to make the coconut oil start to form a solid again, so just gradually add it, and you will see it starts to thicken up a lot now, the more aloe vera juice. You add the more light and fluffy your product will be, so you would just basically play it by ear as to what you want it to do, because again, this is your DIY, so you can do whatever you want to do see how nice and thick it's Getting now I am just going to add a couple drops of my vitamin E oil that was about six drops and now I'm going to take some of my cinnamon and put that in as well. It smells so good. It smells like a desert now. This is the part where you have to be very careful, because this is the part where you add the xanthan gum and with the xanthan gum you want to add it. Vet gradually and you have to mix for a little while in order for you to get the full effect of it. So I am taking just this much and I'm going to put it in, as I have my blender in one hand, I am going to dust this over. Let'S start the blender up a little bit and I'm just going to mix it for a little while just too soon, so I'm taking another pinch, I think I'll eat need a little bit more education with this, and so I'm going to use my so I'm going To trade out and putting my mixing blades okay, and so you can see that it is starting to really thicken up and in total I've added about two 1/4 measures. This mixture, okay. So I'm at the museum for about five minutes now in total industry shall like consistency once it sets in the future. So I am going to so. Here is the finnex finished mixture, and you can see that it is a nice. You can see how it jiggles like jelly, it's a nice, jelly-like consistency and once this sets in the refrigerator, it is going to be a lot tighter. It'S a very shiny mixture and it does leave your hair very shiny as well. So this is what I got from one cup of arable, very juice, about a tablespoon and a half of xanthan gum and about a cup of the mixture of the oils, the cocoa butter and the coconut consistency in the way it pulls away from the sides. This is because of all the slip in the product, which i think is just amazing and in order for me to test to see whether or not it's gon na flake in my hair, because I made so many batches before I was able to balance it out. That'S plate. What I do is I put it on my hairline and I really glob it on. I don't have to use this much when I can do my entire head. It'S such a small section, but in order for me to see whether or not it's going to it's going to flake, this is what I do. Then I just literally glob it on and then I'm gon na, let it dry and then I'm gon na move the hair around and I'm just using the one from my hands to blend it in so it doesn't sit on top okay. So this is what I get while it's wet, I'm just gon na put it on this section as well. Okay, so my hair is dry in the front. This is not as dry, but I'm not seeing any changes with it and this right here I took the blow dryer and I just dried it and very, very soft, and I'm not getting any flaking and all from it. But I do see a lot of shine with it, so it's still a go. I just wanted to make sure when I got it right. I made that one batch that came out perfect. I just wanted to make sure that there were no glitches with it or anything like that. So I'm loving it and I hope you guys give it a try and if you do please let me know so now I have super shiny front of my hair and super dull four-day-old hair huh, that's okay! I'M so happy about this cream working! It'S gon na be okay, so please, let me know if you guys try this and if you try it and like it or don't like it, if you add something different, that makes it even better. Please let me know I'm so in love with this cream, and I will talk to you again soon. Bye guys,

Kay Stary: Love this, it's right up my alley. Your hair looks shiny and moisturized. Thank you for taking the time to perfect this!!!

LaurelsCurls: Wow, excellent! I will definitely be giving this cream a shot!! Thank you for doing the work of fiddling with it and sharing the updated recipe.

tvshouze: I tried your original recipe and I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Thank you so much.

ElleRDoodles: Hey Rachael! You know I LOVED this and it worked wonderfully on my hair but by the end of the day my hair looked dry. I think it's the aloe vera. The next time I make it I'm going to use flaxseed gel instead!

Kinky Curlfriend: Love this & I will be trying it! I've only ever used xanthan gum in the water phase of an emulsion by gradually adding it to agitated water or a water based substance. Interesting to see it take on gel properties without being mixed into water only. Excited! I might need substitutions. I'm willing to try the cocoa butter although it sometimes it results in a drying effect in my hair. Coconut oil is out for me, bring protein sensitive , it makes my hair feel like straw. Wish me luck!

st2871: Hi Rachel! I love your videos! I made your DIY Moisturizing Cream yesterday and it came out great! I did use less of the xanthan gum because when I've used it in the past it tends to make my hair crunchy and it flakes. I used 1 tbsp and I may use even less next time. The cream looks just like yours in the video and it makes my hair very shiny, I have well defined curls and it doesn't flake at all like you said which is great! But I did have some crunch which I scrunched out. I didn't use a leave-in because I wasn't sure how it would mix with the cream. I'll try it next time. I have a question regarding the application of the cream because the texture is a little different. Do you rub it between your hands first or do you just kind of put it directly on the hair? Thanks again for this great cream recipe!!!

Vânia Luz: Seu cabelo está muito lindo nesse dia.

Adrienne M: Update! Update! I tried to salvage the first batch by putting it in the blender like you said. But it was hopeless. The chunks got larger. Although the mixture did get creamier in some places. So I tried everything again. I followed your recipe exactly. I measured out precisely 3/4 of a cup of cocoa butter shaved. This time I used my immersion blender like you did. It came out perfect! It looks just like yours. I haven't used it yet, but the slip on my fingers and on my counter as I wiped up is amazing. I'm excited!

Tricia Brown: This looks awesome! I will be trying it soon, thank you for sharing!

GaDiva769: Yay!! I can't wait to try it! Will let you know as soon as I make it (may be a week or so).  Thanks so much for sharing!!

AFREEME: Thank you for sharing this recipe JUST FOR ME! :)

tvshouze: I read in one of your previous responses that you've used Guar Gum before and I tried it with the Guar but I didnt care for it and the texture was very different. I was also looking up other substitutes for Xanthum Gum and I read that when using Guar Gum avoid acidic ingredients bcuz it reduces the thickening properties in the Guar Gum. Maybe the Aloe Vera didn't work well with the Guar. Going to try u your original recipe as stated

rzashida: Great video, thanks for sharing.  I love making my own hair products but i never could figure out how to make a moisturizer.

KrickettwithaK: Thank you!!!! I can't wait to try it. My only change might have to be with the coconut oil because my oil just doesn't vibe with coconut oil :-( Your hair looks so shiny!!!

skinnypennie: Beautiful I will be trying this. Thank you for sharing!

Sharon Tillman: Thanks so much for sharing!  Do you use this in place of your flaxseed gel or with it?

RitaMay June: Thanks so much for sharing! You have awakened the diy in me again. Lol. I want to make a creamy styler with fkax. I'm gonna have to get back in the kitchen. I look forward to a full wng demo using this

Toi Roberts: Thanks for the recipe. I tried flaxseed gel a long time ago, and it wasn't working for me or my daughter, so I was hoping that someone would come up with something new. Then I saw Roots4U45, and her xanthangum, and was impressed, but couldn't come up with a happy recipe. I got excited when I saw yours and how shiny your hair was, I will definitely try this. Crossing my fingers that it works for me and my daughter. Where did you gt the cocoa butter from? And had you tried it on your daughters hair?

tvshouze: Thank you, I going to try this tomorrow but the description box says 1 1/4 cup of Xanthum Gum but in the video I thought you mentioned 1/4 tablespoon

Dana Blanks: Thanks for sharing!  One question....why cinnamon.  Is it just for scent?

Ms. Tamika G: @rachaelcpr Good day, I just wanted to ask you; would this mixture generally be the same if I used guar gum??  Let me know when you can. Thank you, :)

JanusRincus: Can you do a demo of this curl cream please? (wash and go or twist out etc). This mix looks really good i think im going to try it out. :D

fyfloyd1: :-) Thanks for sharing and all the trial and error you went through to get it right.

Pretti Uneekhair: The cocoa butter grates nicely. You are dead on about adding the aloe vera gel being at room temp. It has amazing slip! It looks so nice. Thanks for all the tips and instructions..

Deadra Morrison: Hi Rachel, I saw this when it first went up, but didn't get to thank you for taking your precious time to do this video.  Looks like I have a trip to the health food store in my future :)

Davia: Amazing !!! I need to try this

kiara nelson: Can I substitute the cocoa butter for avocado butter?

Karen Alyssa: Thanks for the recipe.  I wish my hair liked aloe vera and coconut oil so I could experiment with making this cream.

curiousandlooking: Thanks so much for sharing! What happened to the video after this one showing your results using the gel? It won't play? We would love to see it

tishushu: Wow! I'll have to find some cocoa butter, I use shea. Maybe I'll try both. Thanks for posting this!

dee doc: Thanks for sharing your recipe. I got a feeling this will be another famous youtube mix like kimmaytube or cherry Lola mixes. I will have to try today!!

Naturalle salon: I was excited to see your diy moisturizing cream but most of all when you put it in your hair :-).. Great stuff... Keep us up to date if you add it to the whole head cos it look really nice on the small Section.

Adrienne M: I made this last night. And it was a disaster! It was unusable. Grainy and filled with chunks.I think I put too much cocoa butter in it and too much XG. I'm going to try it again today. I'm going to do exactly what you said. Let's see how it goes.

Khadijah (kunity77) Noir: Salaam Queen, Thanks for sharing...I can't wait too see your natural products in stores *hint hint* ~Unity

Toi Roberts: One more question, can you freeze the extra in the containers?

Couturing: Definitely gonna try this!

Adrienne M: Thanks. I will try that!

st2871: I will add water to each section next time and see how that works. I wonder if guar gum would work with this too. I'd like to send a pic of my hair. I don't have an Instagram account.

Toyosi Babalola: Can I use just argan oil, aloe vera and xanthan gum instead? my hair neither like shea/cocoa butter nor coconut oil.

Ashley Yarbrough: if you put to much "gum" can you save the batch o so it doesn't flake?

A Proverbs31 Woman: My DIY has all but one ingredient that you added. I am trying the xanthum gum next batch. :-). Lovely hair!

tanyateamaiden: Hi rachaelcpr, does this diy cream create product buildup?

kiara nelson: +rachaelcpr can i use this for a wash n go?

Aslane Oliveira: You are beautiful . I am brasilian but I live in Italy and I like to see your videos .I don't speak english very well . Could you put on subtitules in English in your video ? Congratulations for your video!

Kim Amelia’s Boutique: You only need a preservative if you are adding water, it can be left out. If it's hot use a little of beeswax.

chaidima: Wow that looks promising lol But Ugh. I think I over mixed it. It was nice and fluffy, but I got over excited kept mixing and then it started to make small clumps and the aloe SEPERATED. Idk if I over mixed it or what?? Arrrgg By the way I used shea/cocoa butter and arrowroot powder as my thickener since I didn't have XG.

Nicole Dyer: I made this cream using shea butter because I didn't have any cocoa butter. I used it to two strand twist my daughters hair. It is very moisturizing and it elongated her twists. Normally I use a DIY product that I make with flax seed gel in it and her twists shrink. I'm fine with that, but she likes the length. Her twists shine and are really smooth. And to top it off she smells like apple pie! Great cream, thanks!

🍒Tiffie BaeBee🍒: Would Guar Gum substitute

Deej Creates: I'm going to try but substitute in Shea butter for the cocoa butter.

Brenda Delone: Maybe I missed it, but why cinnamon>?

La Gente: so cute the mario bros music in the background lol

KrickettwithaK: Oops I meant my hair not my oil lol

A. Grayson: tyfs

Hi Im kye: is that Mario I hear?? XD
