How To Cut A Short Curly Bob At Home (Tips From A Hairstylist)

I DID IT AGAIN! This time I gave myself a short curly bob haircut at home using a technique I like to call the. Universe Haircut! In this video, I will explain how to cut short layers in curly hair to achieve more volume + a triangular bob haircut (longer in the front and shorter in the back) If you decide to try this at home, please do let me know how it goes and leave this video a BIG THUMBS up if you found it helpful! PS: I am a licensed professional so please do keep that in mind when watching.

What'S good everybody, it's your main girl, mel back at it again with another diy haircut tutorial. That is not the unicorn haircut! That haircut is if you're looking for a mullet. This haircut is if you're looking for business in the front, but a party in the back. Quite opposite, or in reverse, to the unicorn haircut, the universe haircut is going to give you all of that gorgeous layering in the back of your head. That'S going to solve many problems that you might be having with a flat crown area as i was and believe it or not, you're able to achieve this in just a few simple steps. I cannot wait to share this with you, a brand new diy haircut, the universe haircuts without further ado, let's cut into it it's time to sit down just prepping, my hair, with a little extra watts, hair and some neutral punish, leave-in conditioner, keeping it light, keeping it Cute keeping it smooth this is going to help give me some slip, as i cut without being too gunky like. I don't want too much product in the way, because then it makes scissor handling a little bit difficult product starts running all over my scalp falling out. No bueno, i'm gon na leave the bangs to the end, but i am going to section my hair, where i usually part it which is about there now. My focus with this cut is truly to shorten up the back. The back is just too long for me. So what i want to do is use my comb and, from the top of my head, this little apex the highest point of my head: okay, the point where the comb sits on the hair and doesn't lift off i'm going to draw a section down to right. Behind my ear, we need to keep it sectioned and neat and clean. I wanted to keep this one section of hair out so that i could measure the length of the bangs okay and see how short i need the layers in the back to be because i do want them to kind of be on a similar playing field. The layers are going to be shorter in the back and come to kind of longer triangular. Look in the front with the back of my head. I am going to do another section because when i am creating layering in the back, i don't necessarily want to grab the perimeter. I do want the perimeter and the bottom of my hair to look nice and full, so i'm just going to use my fingers here. I can't see what that looks, like my nails. Aren'T that sharp otherwise it could probably be cleaner, but i'm sure it's just fine braiding this bottom section to keep it out of my way. So i make sure that i don't cut any of that right now. Again. Keeping these clean sections is going to keep everything organized and make it so that i don't hate myself later, because i messed up. Of course, i'm not going to mess up, not here not now not ever. I might be speaking too soon. Now here comes miss universe. We'Re putting that ponytail not at the front but at the back right at the crown of your head, because wherever the ponytail is placed is where the shortest layer is going to be, and that's what we want to see. Now that i have my ponytail right at my crown there, i'm going to measure the length of the layers, i'm going to take my bangs here and bring them back. That looks about right, and i know that looks super super scary. It is, it totally is. I will add a little extra leeway length, i'm absolutely trimming all of this with, of course, the sharpest pair of scissors that i have no kitchen scissors, no craft scissors allowed. They will only end up creating more split ends. They need to be sharp scissors and there's some great options on the amazon. Okay, one more time i want to brush it smooth and bring them back. I think it's good, i'm pinching it tight. That was a lot of beautiful hair. Just did a bad thing. I think that's going to be good, i'm gon na, let that down short layers in the back yeah. That'S gon na be fantastic. So now what did i do? I made a mistake. No i'm kidding. I set my guideline. This is now you can see where the layers are. This is the guideline for the front of my layers, i'm going to clean those up and then i'm going to cut the perimeter in the back nice and kind of straight across nothing too rounded, and nothing too angular. I kind of just want it straight across just clean kind of blunt. I think that's just going to look really nice with this haircut and i'm excited to see when it's all done. So, let's just continue. Shall we there's no more ponytails from here on out? I'M not going to do any more of those. I just want to take these pivoting lines. I'M going to take these kind of pie, shaped sections of hair and i'm not going to pull this forward to cut. No, no i'm going to pull all of these back. So i'm picking up some of that back section. It'S in this like section that i'm holding and i should be able to feel where the layers are back here. You can see that see. That'S where they are beautiful, i'm going to cut. Oh, i'm cutting a lot of hair here. It feels so fresh and new. Already now in curly hair a lot of times, you see a lot of the same shape. For example, on my sister and even my previous haircut, they were rounded they're shorter in the front. Longer in the back, they even have that u-shape in the back. This is a triangular shape, i'm creating that, because i'm directing all of this hair backwards, if you notice the ponytail that we did was complete opposite to the unicorn haircut, which you know is the ponytail at the front hairline, which is going to give you more of The layering in the front - this is just giving me that layering in the back that i really really needed now. This elevation that i'm doing like pulling it out for my head is 90 degree from where the hair lays that's a really classic layering technique. That kind of follows the shape of the head. Okay, that's what kind of my finger angle, i'm following the shape of the head? That'S going to give me a really nice rounded silhouette. Now, if you feel brave enough, you can also point cut. This will give a softer effect to the ends. Just make sure you don't cut yourself. Rest one blade on your finger so that you're not going in like this and cutting and the point cutting again it's going to give a really soft effect. Oh my god! Oh, i really did that. Oh i'm really going in there and doing all of that. Oh my goodness. I'M really kind of over directing that front section, because i don't want to remove that length from the front and if you look closely, you can actually see the weight line of the layering and how it's coming a little bit longer in the front. To this point. Right here, so it's still going to maintain that length around my face, while i still do have my shorter face framing my old bangs that are growing out that are just side bangs, which, in my opinion, look really great with this haircut. This side is now done. I am going to clip it away just so again, i stay organized and i don't go crazy because i'm engulfed in all of my hair i'm going to let down this section and spray. Now you might be wondering how are you gon na get this side even to the other side? Well, remember we created our guide this back here that layering that we put in is our guideline. It was just one ponytail placed at the center back of my head, which means all the hair traveled evenly. All the back is leveled, and i just need to remember the angle in which i pulled this hair back or if you don't want a freestyler like me, you can always place pigtail haircuts here as well uh. You can check out that video for that this is the universe, haircut, okay and, of course, once all this is cut, we will check for balance, but i'm going to go ahead. You can see the layering back here compared to the layering up here. It'S much much longer. I am going to take those pie shaped sections. Yet again, you could feel where the layers are they're starting to drop out, so i'm gon na go ahead and cut these and i'm also paying attention. I mean i saw how much i cut on the other side. It was about the same amount as long as i'm not starting from an uneven haircut. I just need to remember how much i cut off. Okay, i cut off an inch on this side, cut off an inch on that side. It makes things a lot easier unless again you're, starting from a crooked place in that case. Well, good luck, charlie, because i do have a side part not to complicate things, but i am kind of elevating this side just a little bit more because what happens when you elevate the hair, if i'm all the way up here, it's going to take a little Bit more weight off of the top section, as opposed to the ends, and that's going to keep a little bit more density, it's going to help to kind of balance out the shape of the hair cat. Since i mean the parting is asymmetrical. Yes, the side part kind of complicates things. Now we check for evenness, i'm going to grab a section from each side of my head, starting at the top and evenly run my fingers down my hair, like it's a race. Now i'm just going to address my bangs, the bangs. They are frazzled and crispy on these ends. So what happens when you wait too long in between your trims and when your hair is fine and bleached like? I really can't be doing that notice. How i'm doing those pie shaped sections again in my bangs though, and i am elevating off of my head and over directing i'm not trying to shorten these, i just they just need a good trim, so i'm taking about a centimeter, slash, half an inch off. If you were trying to cut curtain bangs, though, if you wanted more front bangs or curtain bangs with this look, make sure you check out my curtain bangs tutorial, where i show you how to do it on wavy, curly or coily hair, even how it looks on Straight hair, all of the things i believe, oh, i believe that does it. For me, all that's left to do is the back amanda. I need your help, please. What did you do? I'M putting my hair and i need you to help me with the bag. Okay holy it's so short, uh, that's because all the length is is there. I am going to get rid of all of this hair for you, so i am taking some of the section above my ear as well as a little bit of where the layering was just to kind of get a guideline of like how short i might want To take the the perimeter so now amanda you can unbraid and kind of dampen uh the hair down with a spray bottle. Why don't you so direct the front sections here kind of to the back of my head a little bit see how it comes down into a? U. I want you to imagine where these sections are make them your guideline, we're going to be cutting straight across okay! Okay, you want me to cut this amanda. I i can't see the back of my head, so how's this diy plus call your mom like what do you want? Okay, this is diy, plus call your mom or sister or friend. This is the scissor. I'M gon na put my middle finger through here. Let my pinky rest on that little tong or hold that like that and put my thumb in the hole. Okay, it doesn't have to be straight straight across. It can be slightly rounded, but i'm getting rid of the. U, okay! Now i can see what you're doing here. Yeah put your elbow up because you're going to kind of go slightly like this. Just follow the line, oh god just try to yeah make sure you brush good from the root okay. So now we're going to grab the hair from here and from here at the top and run your fingers down to check for symmetry, make sure you grab the bottom, because that's where the layers are. No mistakes were made here today, besides asking amanda, to come to come and help me, but it's gon na be fine. It'S gon na be just fine. This is what it's looking like. This is the home stretch to make sure that i connect that final layering to this new short do this perimeter, i'm going to take again my scissors more cutting. I know right and i'm going to part my hair down the middle, and this is where you can bring back the pigtail haircut because remember with the pigtail haircut, you could place the hair ties wherever you want. You can keep them lower on your head and place. It right here, if you kind of want this soft graduated, this beveled look, i'm going to do it without placing the actual hair ties, but i'm just going to brush all the hair kind of in that direction and keep everything smooth silky straight. What i'm checking for here is a corner when i pull this out from this angle, if i see a little like corner something sticking out, i want to cut it because i want just a really flush. Look because that's going to give me even curls that connect and there's no steps. We don't want to see steps same thing. On the other side, i'm kind of just pulling everything still backwards, but just kind of behind my ear, i'm trying to measure and even everything out no hair left behind and not down right, see, i'm not pulling this directly down, i'm still kind of elevating a little Bit if i pulled it directly down it's going to give me like a one length which is usually what i do for the bottom perimeter, but everything else i mean it's curly hair. I want layers. We'Ve got this shorter to long action happening all throughout i'm going to stop. There don't get too scissor-happy, i'm going to go ahead and style, and then we can do any final refinement if needed, and i need to remember that i have much less hair than before. So i don't need as much product, probably not going to use any more than that i'm screaming i'm crying i'm throwing up now at the end after you styled. If you did feel like you know, there was a couple curls that were maybe out of place. I see like some weird random string over here that i couldn't catch when the hair was wet. I would simply just do a little bit of dry slide, cutting just very gently trimming off those extra lengths that are kind of sticking out and out of place, but the haircut came out super even and why is that? Well, i do have a pretty consistent curl pattern, all throughout my head. So that's why a damp haircut works really really well on me. If you are someone that has multiple different textures in your hair or you like styling your hair certain ways, you should absolutely check out one of my older videos, which is a dry straightened haircut versus a dry curl by curl, diva curl haircut, because it's going to Help to explain to you whether you should cut your hair when it is wet, like i did today or like the dry curl by curl technique. I'Ll put the link to that video just above here and if you do not feel brave enough to do this. To yourself, please obviously no pressure if you do decide to do it to yourself, i i am not liable, i'm just here to hell, which, if you end up doing please do share your results with me. Tag me on instagram tag me on tick. Tock means by now double l everywhere and hashtag universe, haircut and i'd love it. If you gave this video a thumbs up, if you liked it, so i know to make more diy haircuts on different hair lengths and different hair shapes to continue helping you out at home until the next one, and until next texture tuesday. I am out peace. It brings me such joy, it sparks such joy for me divine. I love you and i love to cut. I am miss universe and miss universe. I miss you. The curls woman apple next been on the shoulder. The sun is out and shining ferociously today, and it's just telling me that i did a good thing. It'S telling me i did a good thing. You did a good thing. I don't know if i trust myself doing this. Oh i'll, do it myself. You did great sweetie, how are you gon na? Do it? Okay, i'll do it? Let me go dammit amanda just grow some balls and do it yeah see how that's like all long hair? Okay, i could see where this is. I see it don't get loud with me thanks for watching. I love you so much goodbye.

Sherien Hassan: I just want to say that for the past three months I have been battling cancer and basically my life has been consumed with treatments and blood tests etc one night I found this channel and basically have been binge watching all your videos and it has been keeping sane and entertained through this entire process…can’t wait for when I am able to try out all these tips and tricks with my naturally curly hair once I am done with my treatments and my hair grows…thank you for all you do and big thank you for keeping me occupied while going through this cancer journey as well as hopefully keeping my hair more natural one day using your tips….

Lisa R: As someone doing home haircuts before the pandemic made it cool, I really appreciate these tutorials! I've learned so much to hone my own skills, and I'd love to see new shapes and curl patterns on the channel.

Tiffany Pappas: I've followed you for a long time and after watching this video I finally got brave enough to cut my own hair. And OMG I think it might just be the best haircut I've EVER had!! You're such a great teacher and this was a great video. Thanks a million Mell!! ❤

Mimi Sala: I've been cutting my hair by myself for the past year, with your helpful videos I've had so many terrible haircuts, I only trust myself now. That says a lot for curly hair knowledge in the hair community. Love your videos Mel

Amber K: Mel!! It's like you were reading mind! This is exactly what tutorial I need to do. In fact, I just cut my hair earlier. It felt so good lol. Yay curly girls! #diypluscallyourseester

Rashael Nunley: Seastar: "So how is this DIY?" Mel: "DIY plus call your mom" ‍♀️

Ashley Longsworth: Just tried it! Came out amazing I love it. I had my mom help because I wasn’t too confident about using the guide to cut the rest of my hair. Literally looks like I went to the salon to get professional curly hair cut done! The directions were extremely clear and easy to follow.

Claire Daniels: Yes! I have fine, wavy/ curly hair, and I just got it cut into a chin length bob last week! Loving the short length!

Suzie Althens: This is golden! You're so enjoyable to watch (and Seester!) I'd love a tutorial on a jaw length bob for curly hair. My hair is loving your suggestions! Thank you!

snowflakes215: I do not have the balls to ever do this put as usual it looks amazing on you Mell! Great job! Love this length on you!

Madison R: I have been on a curly journey to get my curls back after years of damage and not knowing how to care for them. I used to have hair like Amanda and I used the unicorn cut to gain confidence in cutting my hair at home. I had been slowly cutting more and more off and keeping up with trims at home, then I got to a point where I used your pig tail cut and absolutely loved it. I have used it as a guide for when I need a touch up although my ultimate goal was to cut it even shorter to keep getting rid of the damage and I’m ready for it! I have the same problem you described the back is super flat, you already know I will definitely be trying this out today! Thank you for helping me restore my curls! Much love to you and Amanda!

Dixie Southern: I used this video to guide myself in cutting my hair. I have NEVER cut my own hair before until TODAY. THANK YOU MELL!!!! My hair looks AMAZING and better than EVER BEFORE!!!! I have been trying to get my hair cut for almost 7 months now and keep having financial needs elsewhere. I kept putting my hair in the back burner. Now, THANKS TO YOU, I have the confidence, knowledge and Boss Babe attitude to handle my hair needs in the future!!!! Your AWESOME

Jessica Beirne: I'm not doing this myself, but I will ask my hairdresser (who went to school with you apparently) for it! Flat crown is something I've been having issues with. You look fab! Love the colour too.

Ariana Tafuro: I've tried the pigtails cut and it was amazing. This is going to be the next one I try! Thank you for sharing this technique, greetings from Argentina!

sn480: Hi Mel! I am so glad you part your hair on the side! I feel more confident that when I cut my own side-parted hair with your methods, it'll look right. I do have a good stylist, but she's learning to cut curly hair on me, so I try things in between cuts with her. She just cut my hair this evening (before I saw this video) and tried a technique she learned recently, so after a couple of washes, I'll see how it curls. Otherwise, I'll be showing her this video! Can you show how your hair looks in the back now? You swished your hair when you showed the back in the video, so I didn't get to see the lovely layers properly. This style definitely looks good on you!

Ivo Kiz: I love your diy haircuts. I did your pigtail cut multiple times already. I would love to see one with lots of layers on top without cutting much from the length in the back.

Maria Kadas: I love it! You look great Mell!! I’ve been wanting shorter layers in the back but was too scared to do it.

Alaina da Costa: I have been so tempted to cut my hair lately but I've never done it myself so I was worried I'd mess up. But seeing your beautiful curls...

AGirlhasNoUserName: Omg Mel you're so right about the Mullet layers!!! I always go back and bring up my length because it looks crazy! But I think I'm about to go to a stylist finally because I got too much hair and it's getting long

Briana Harrell: This haircut is amazing! It is so doable and dare I say easy to follow that my husband was able to follow it and cut my hair! Love love love

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! Your hair looks amazing!!! Perfect timing I have a hair appointment tomorrow I will show her this for reference!! thank you!!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Lynzi Collins: Happy Texture Tuesday!! Your hair looks amazing! Can't wait to watch, sweets are ready ❤️

Minna Uyeda: You look amazing! Totally popping, and love the longer inverted bob. Thanks for the layering tips.

karinac1999: I love how this cut looks. I totally want it. My hair is quite similar to yours, but I don't understand how you do this on your own!!!! How do you get such straight lines?!?! How do you grab just the right amount of hair on both sides!?!?! I can't even part a straight line with a rat tail comb . Maybe my mom will be brave enough to help me with this diy.

brianna: This looks fabulous!! Curls look so great

Breanna: Totally gonna try this. I was trying to accomplish this style when I used the pigtail haircut, so this will be even better!

Nicole L: I did this cut today, and OH MY GARSH!! It’s perfect!!!!!

Gio Aprile: I was literally sitting here like dang I need a hair cut. I’ve tried the pigtails cut and love it for a simple haircut!! I’m so excited to try this!

VivaFamilia: Your videos are all I need! My daughter has been begging for bangs but we can do this. She has your gorgeous hair type!

Celeste Ortins: I absolutely love this length!! it looks great!!

Natalie Hernandez: This is the video I have been wanting for for about a month now! I was literally about to request a curly bob haircut the other day

mamasteph3: I love this cut!! Thank you Mell! Can I ask, do you do a version of these layers for Amanda’s new cut? I need the layering like you guys both have but I need it more in the front too.

Tasha Chambers: For anyone wondering, you can totally do this cut with hair that starts out shorter than shoulder length! It’s just a lot more finicky and difficult to make sure you have grabbed everything. And it looks really good! Thanks Mell!

Yahaira Casimiro: I let my teenager follow along and cut my hair. Loved the results!! Thank you son much.

Desiree Adrian: This cut looks great! Gorgeous as always! I have a question. Would you recommend this for others with fine/low density hair? The two pie-slice sections you twisted and clipped in the beginning are where my hair starts to thin. It gets progressively thinner toward the front and front hairline. My hair never fully recovered after postpartum-hair loss. My concern is that layering in the past thinned out too much of what little density I have, mostly the back half and bottom of my hair. I’ve never had a curly cut or done short layers all around, a little nervous, but desperately need more volume to blend my see through areas (top back of my head). Thank you for all of your content and fabulous DIY tutorials.

kryki_cha: I just followed this for a second time. The first time, 4 moths ago, I was coming from a crooked place. Lol I had two areas where the layers looked like steps. The first cut only camouflaged the problem. This second time, it had grown enough to actually blend the layers in. This is the best haircut I've ever had... EVER. So much volume that actually stays!! That's saying a lot for my fine, low density hair. Thanks again, Mell!!

Anastasia Yu: Mel, I have hair very similar to yours, slightly less dense, and I finally managed to keep myself from self-haircuts and stopped “evening things out” and giving myself bobs and crying afterwards lol. I finally have longer hair now, similar to your starting point for the video. And guess what? I’ve been feeling the same way! That bob looked better, it was easier to wash, the hair had more volume and health. It’s too funny! But I can’t bring myself to cutting it just yet...

Marie Arnold: Here’s a new technique I can use when it’s time to cut my hair again! Your hair looks gorgeous!

Sara M.: This cut looks gorgeous on you!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I thought it would be easier to do though . I'm not that good at understanding hair cut techniques I'm afraid to do it myself because my hair is uneven and it'll probably be a mess. But I definitely want to get this hair cut done some day!!!

Meribor Matusow: I just trimmed my ends cuz momma mell told us to trim regularly!! But I absolutely NEED this haircut in my waves!!! I will be fixing up my layers real quick thank you ma’am!!

Kristin Moore: I almost cut my hair today but ran out of time. This video is perfectly timed!

Jenny Rose: This is the length/ style i like best on you Mel!❤Girl you know how many stylists messed up my hair? Simple layers just didnt work. Had to fix it myself. Luckily i have haircutting experience but it shouldn't be so hard to get a basic hair cut.

Marissa Santa Cruz: Yessss!!! Omgggg I’m definitely doing this as soon as my broken collarbone heals enough to allow me full mobility lol

Catrina Elizabeth: Thank you for doing this video! I cut my long hair (I cut a foot of hair off, I had it extremely long my whole life) two years ago into a short bob where it’s long in the front and short in the back. I’ve been maintaining it (I haven’t been to hair salon in over 15 years) but it’s missing layers! I’m good enough to bleach, color, and cut, but I can’t cut layers, as I’m an engineer and not a hairstylist! You just solved my two year long problem!! Thank you!!!!

holipinieo1: thanks for this DIY plus call your mom tutorial. I love this style and have always cut my hair myself to look like this and found this so helpful!

Sarah Maddox: So happy you're doing this again! I was just complaining about my flat crown, Thanks. I am trying this!

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Beautiful Mell! Always love a good DIY cut!

Stephanie: "DIY plus call your mom or your seestar" . You guys are the best. I admire your bravery for cutting your own hair at home. It looks amazing!!! I prefer my curly hair in a chin length bob. My curls just live their best life at this length. When I have it long I too suffer from a flat crown plus I also have a small face and it just drowns in my thick curly hair when it's long.

Carla Soto: Hi Mell! This is brilliant! Question - if I only want to add more layers in the back, would it work to do the first step of this cut and then do a pigtails cut for the rest?

Betty Boop: This is how I do my hair Mel you look AMAZING! So glad to see a shorter style!! Not sure why in the US it seems to be longer the better but it can often look heavy and dated. This length is so fresh and healthy xx

Michaela Oren: I'm SO GLAD YOU DID THIS. Curly bob is my new go-to style!

The Mediumalist: Great video! I have a question, I’ve had it for a while actually, how do you recommend to cut curly hair that is much curlier and finer on the bottom layer than the top? My hair is practically at TB length, and I’d like to trim it or cut it a bit, but I never know how (I’m afraid of salons) because they don’t really understand that my curl pattern is incredibly uneven. I’m talking the top/crown is like 3a/3b and thick to normal in texture, quite wavy. The bottom is 3c very fine, easily breaks, no weight and super frizzy and tangled. If I cut my hair normal, it always ends up looking like the entire bottom layer of hair frizzes up and curls into my scalp and the top layer is long and wavy, but ends up looking like I’m missing hair? Idk if that paints a clear picture. But I definitely need help!

Peyton Vogler: yeeesss perfect timing, i’m gonna do this later today!! the free styling is definitely scary, did you say we can just do the back side pony, then use the pigtails haircut for the sides and back/perimeter and bangs? like just add that first pony placement and do the rest of the hair like the pigtails cut?

Maribel Lamas: JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VERY HELPFUL TUTORIAL. I FOLLOWED THESE STEPS AND MY DAUGHTERS HAIR CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL SHE IS A HAPPY LITTLE GIRL WITH HER NEW CUT KEEP MAKING THESE KIND OF VIDEOS YOU ARE THE BEST! ♥️

Natalie Andreici: I JUST DID THIS!!! AND I LOVE IT!!!!!! Thank you Mell, I'm never going to a hair dresser again!

Sahar Shawa: Mell! I have low density curly hair (specially in the tempels and crown area) and I would love to see a haircut done by you on someone with my kind of hair.

Angel Johnson: DIY? I could never do this myself. Funnily enough, I recently got a very similar haircut. Shoulder-length hair with lots of layering in the back. It looks SO good, I absolutely love it AND I got it done at Great Clips AND I had a coupon so it was only $5.99! #winning

Esmeralda Morales: This cut is very flattering on you

Jeanette Grigsby: Yes! I'm getting a bob on the 23rd! Not by myself because I have been cutting my own hair for 2 years and I'm getting a mullet feel. Can't wait!

Sol: Love how it came out! I will definitely use ur video to do mine….. thanks!

Kenya Rodriguez: SO CUTE! I’m doing this !

Tiffany W: Thank you, I've been looking for this exact cut!

Sophia Eckardt: I've done this cut on myself twice now; hands down the best dyi cut

Tanya Price: I cut my hair and it came out GREAT!!! Thanks Mel... you are my Mane Girl!♡

Kim: I don't think ANY hairdresser I've been to has cut my hair taking into consideration the side I part it which I think explains why I feel like one side is fuller than the other and super flat on the back! God, a good haircut really does make a difference, right?! I just find out I never had a good one! lol

Lili: Thank you Meeeel! I was searching for this! On point as usually!

L Bloodkith: That cut looks so good on you!!!

Bonnie ImNotControversial: I rarely CUT my hair, but I trim my hair when it's needed. Now like two days after I take the plunge and actually cut it you upload a hair cut vid! Ahhh! I used the pigtail one so we are good. Can't wait to try this next time!

FreeMe Life: VERY well done. Thank you!

Michelle Haftar: My 6 year old daughter says you look beautiful! I may have to try this cut. I keep debating on leaving it long or cutting it shorter. I can't decide!

MaryAnn: Wow you look amazing. To chicken to do this myself. I can't cut straight for my life. To have hubby do it will be worse. I love all your hair styles . Always a joy to watch you and Amanda. Can't wait to see her haircut. Love you guys.

Chels Mout: Thank you for this tutorial. Any tips for short formal hair styles? I have a wedding next week. Also, I prematurely took out the braid and cut the back side with the blending triangle cuts . So it’s seems thinned out. Any tips for that without cutting it shorter?

Mimie N.: We're hair twins! I literally just got the same curly bob cut (with bangs) last week. I'm in love (with both of ours )!

Gaia Spaziani Testa: Hi Mell!!!! I followed this tutorial today and I have cut a friend of mine wavycurly hair, this was absolutely my first time (never done not even on me) and her hair turned out great!!!!!!!! More than any expectations, and she liked it a lot more than when she was going to the hairdresser!!!! She was never happy with any hairdresser. I enjoyed a lot, and following you that was easy! I already follow your channel and consider you amazing, but I rarely leave a comment on older videos, since they are older . But I really wanted to tell you, this time!!! Thank you ❤️ Love from Rome, Italy

Dr Prepper 05: Great job. You rock the bob. Shorter but you still have a lot of beautiful curls.

Daniela: Your video just made me want short hair again lol. Growing out hair is a pain. Short hair is fun! Love the haircut. You look beautiful, as always!

Tiffany Schmitt: I honestly can't wait to try this! Won't be taking as much off as you did but this has been my problem just no volume in the crown. I've been growing it out and I think with a side Bang this is going to look amazing! My hair is also in desperate need of a haircut and with my 36th bday next week this is just the pick me up I need!

Melissa Clark: I watch your DIY hair cut tutorials and am like "Oh yeah I can do it!" But when push comes to shove I chicken out and just end up dusting my ends instead. So what is the easiest flat crown remedy DIY layering technique for scaredy cats like me that doesn't have bangs?

Lotus Flower Life: Your haircut came out so PERFECT , I want to cut my hair shorter but I'm kind of scared to do it... This video is making me think I can do it myself

Cairn Grow: I have watched a dillion tutorials and this is by far the best for the way that I process information. I just cut my hair and also took a bunch off of the perimeter. I feel like this is structured just right. Thank you !

Mária Hétszáz: I needed this tutorial 1 year ago. :D I recently decided to grow my hair back. Anyways thanks for sharing this in the case I want my bob back in the future. :D

Anna D.: This length is perfect on you, Mell !

Bec Diane: I love this sweater!!! And the hair as always ❤️

jennifer ramirez: My favorite haircut I currently have had this cut for years now. Long hair gives me a headache

LovedSarita: I love the pigtails haircut and use it every time I cut my hair and know I will definitely modify it to have this results. I life in Costa Rica and it's hard and really expensive to find someone qualified in curly hair, I also have a chronic illness and part of it I get hands pain so it's hard to maintain long curls. My actual length now it's pretty much your length results but I like it shorter, can you make a tutorial on doing this type of haircut to achieve short curls? Thanks Mell! I've follow you for a while now, someone in Instagram recommended your video about hair porosity and since then I don't miss your videos.
