Easy Milkmaid/Crown Braided Updo | Perfect For Long Hair - Medium Hair Lengths

Let’s stay connected: http://www.instagram.com/alexgaboury

Today’s hair tutorial is an easy crown braid/Halo Braid for summer 2021. This Milkmaid braided updo is created with two dutch braids, making it perfect for short, medium, and long hair lengths. I love how this braided hairstyle can be dressed up or dressed down making it perfect for proms, wedding guests, formals, graduations, flower girls, brides, bridesmaids, or for an afternoon out with friends. This hairstyle was very popular years ago, and I tried to modernize it by creating a partless back, and more of a semi-crown than a full crown.

Hello, welcome back. We have been under a serious heat wave here in toronto, so i thought i'd share with you, one of my favorite hairstyles for the warmer months and it's a beautiful semi-crown braid. It'S simple: it's great for most hair lengths and i love how it could be worn for everything from bridal to an afternoon out with your friends. So let's get started to give this hairstyle some grip and texture just added my favorite dry shampoo from living proof. Next make sure your hair is free of all knots and tangles and then place your fingers at the top of your crown, and you want to trace them in a circle shape down towards the nape of your neck. This step is what creates that partless back then place the left side and your right side out of the way. For now - and you can see here - you really only want to gather the hair at the back of your head, leaving the top and sides up time to secure this back section to keep it nice and smooth so take bobby pins roller pins and just begin pinning. The side sections first and then the middle, and you want to try to cross your pins over one another to make them extra. Secure. Oh and don't worry if they're, not perfect, we'll be removing them later. You just want to make sure that all of your hair is secured within the pins now to add texture and volume pinch and pull on small pieces of hair around your crown, and you can really see the nice shape that this step adds all right. Let'S braid so for the face framing pieces trace down about a centimeter back from your hairline down to the front of your ear and then just tightly twist. These sections away from your face clipping them out of the way. For now, i'm going to start on the right side and create a dutch braid, but you could do any type of braid that you, like so grab a one inch section of hair at your part and divide it into three equal pieces and then begin by crossing. Your right section underneath the middle and then your left section underneath the middle, and this will create the foundation of your braid. Now, this time before crossing, underneath the middle gather, a small section of hair, join it into your right section and then cross it underneath and then repeat, on the left side, gathering a small piece of hair and then crossing it underneath the middle. So just continue this pattern down until you reach just below your temple. Now this next step only applies. If you left out face framing pieces, so unclip those pieces and as you continue, dutch braiding grab small sections from that front piece and incorporate them into your outer right section. This is going to create a very pretty swoop detailing, but it's completely optional. Now, before you braid too far down, you want to gently pinch on the outside of your braid to fan it out, make it pop, and you want to try to pull it out just enough. So it's almost the same width from the top to the bottom and then gently pull on those face framing pieces to create that swoop detailing, and you can see that i covered my ear with that last face framing piece. I just like that. Look so continue. Dutch braiding try to keep it nice and close to your head and once you've reached the back, you want to divide that back section from earlier into two tossing the left side out of the way for now and then divide that right section into three evenly joining It into your existing three pieces - and i promise you this sounds way more difficult than it actually is. I promise all right once they're joined in just simply three strand braid, all the way to the bottom. Now don't forget to gently pancake that lower braid, but i didn't want to pull it out too much because i want it to be a similar width to the top of the braid amazing, secure your braid, with a small hair, elastic and repeat on the other side. Now the only thing i did differently on this side is, i added in a small hair extension, since the side has less hair just to help balance out the braid, and i just join it into the top three sections and dutch braid it as normal. Now, once both sides are braided remove those pins from earlier and it's time to wrap this steps, really cool. So take your right, braid close to your neck and open it up in the middle between your sections and then use your index finger and thumb to pull your left braid all the way through and then tightly bring your left braid up the right side of your Head just above your dutch braid and then begin bobby, pinning it into place and we'll add some more after, but you want it to be just secure enough to stay into place. So take your ends and you want to fold them underneath your braid and then tuck them underneath that lower braid out of the way. Now, if your hair is longer, you could definitely wrap your braid around your head and if your hair is shorter, same idea, just tuck your ends. Out of the way. Now you can go in add some more bobby pins to both sides and try to cross them over one another to really lock them into place and then repeat on the left side, then i touched up my curls with a one and a half inch barrel and If you have longer face framing pieces still hanging out, you can slide a bobby pin through them at chin height twist them away from your face and secure them just below your braid, and it will look so whimsical and beautiful, and i quickly want to show you How you can easily add some flowers to this hairstyle, so i just added in some dried baby's breath that i had and i just cut out some small pieces inserted, a bobby pin through the stems, and then i slid them all in throughout the top of my Braid, so there we have it. What do you think i love how this hairstyle turned out? I think it is so beautiful. I can't wait to see your recreations, so if you liked today's video, please give it a thumbs up subscribe if you're not subscribed already and as always i'll share pictures of the final look over on my instagram. If you want to check it out, but thank you so much for watching. I will talk to you next time. Bye,
