Have fun with your hair!

Christina xx

Hi there I'm Christina from Harriman's calm now I've just colored my hair, and it happens to be pretty much the hottest day of the year in Sydney today, and so my blow-dry just isn't going to last, and I thought it's a good opportunity to shoot some Styles, That a little bit different to what I show you here on the channel so instead of curly hairstyles, I'm gon na play around with my straight hair today. Well straight frizzy, whatever it's gon na turn out to be and show you a few quick ways that you can do a regular hairstyle, something really simple, no braids that you can do in like less than two minutes to go to school or work, but just adding An accessory just steps it up a little bit and makes it look a little bit more special or intentional, or just like you've made some effort when really it hasn't taken you any time at all, I'm going to create some really simple, bun styles, that you can Do yourself and no braiding skills required and all you need to dress them up, are some accessories, some pins or pretty much anything you've got at home. Let'S get started, it is really hot here today and I don't have air conditioning and I can't use a fan because of the sound while I'm filming, so I definitely want to put my hair up now. This is pretty much me any time I needed to go to work when I worked in an office or any other kinds of jobs, and I hope they're stars it'll be really easy and workable for you to do as well. The first one I'm going to do is just a low bun, and I want to show you how you can fix it with a few accessories just to make it a little bit more special, oh okay! Now I'm gon na leave a few pieces down at the front just so that it doesn't look too severe. But if you want to have all your hair back, if you need to for school or work, that's fine or just leave out any bangs or fringe that you've got that suits your hair. Now, I'm going to start by putting my hair in a low ponytail and the trick with this low ponytail is just to pull a little bit above the elastic. It just gives you a little bit more shape here at the back of your head and you can tighten it below and it just stops the ponytail looking too flat and just create the shape that you like with your hair. This way for this style, I'm going to use these two pins to secure the bun. You know split my ponytail in half and twist up the top section and slide this pin through opening it up a little bit to hold that in place and with the bottom section, I'm just going to do the same, twisting it around and using this pin to Hold it now, depending on how thick your hair is, that will hold perfectly for you or you might want to use a couple of extra bobby pins, just see how it sits within your hair. And then you can just adjust to see how it looks around. But really it's a simple style that you can wear to school or to work. It doesn't take any time, but the accessories to make it feel a little bit more intentional than a low bun. Now I know my hair color is totally not school or work appropriate for most workplaces, but just imagine the style in any normal hair color and the pins will actually stand out really beautifully, particularly if you've got dark hair. I think they are just a lovely little bit of interest to any hairstyle. Now, if you don't have these pins, you could just use regular bobby pins and I think, by splitting your bun into two, it creates like a more interesting fun anyway, or an alternative style. I'M going to show you is using round clips as well, following on from the same style. We keep it that low ponytail and make sure you've got the shape that you like. You can use a little bit of hairspray here if that helps keep the style. For you, and now firing sort of the same style split the bun in half and use these little round clips to hold your hair in place. I'M gon na add in a little extra bobby, pin just at the top and bottom for added hold in this style. Now I'll tell you it's getting pretty warm here, so I was going to do a half up style, but I might say: gon na have another video and do a full up style. Just so you can see another version and I can keep my hair up because of a lot of hair Onoda there. You can find a pendant that still lots near that. Oh, my gosh here is a hot okay and for this third style I want to show you what up style has a little bit more volume on top. If you don't like having a really flat style - and it's made a little bit easier by making two ponytails. First, I start by taking a section of hair around about my ears: don't instead of going directly across I'm gon na go up, and so my hair is a little bit more evenly split because you have more hair growing at the top here and then stall. This, as you like to wear your hair at the front, you might like it quite high or you're happy to have it all slicked back. You can style it as suits you. If you like, a little bit more volume and your hair's kind of fine or flat, you can tease some sections just around here that will help keep more volume there. Then I'm gon na secure this with an elastic to make a half ponytail similar to before I'm going to just pull from the top section just to keep that shape and tighten underneath so that it's sitting firm, oh, that shape, looks terrible, so I'm gon na fix It sometimes you really do need to look in a mirror to do this, trying to do it with my back to the camera, but I think that's really working all right there. We go always just adjust that top section. So it's sitting the way you like and then we're gon na get the rest of our hair into a ponytail. Underneath we, this one, I'm not too worried about volume, because it's going to sit directly underneath and all the shape is what I haven't created on the top. So with those two ponytails, you can actually use this as one of my trick styles to make your ponytail look longer, but instead I'm going to do this into a button. I'M going to twist this first section around kind of loosely so that my hair looks thicker and I'm going to use my circle Clips again to hold this in place and I'll grab. A bobby pin just to pin up the top here and keep that height. And I'm repeating the same with a ponytail below making sure that I just tuck the ends around because want a pin from this side so that I have a little bit of detail. Whichever side of my hair, you can see, make sure you've got the pin the right way around and secure that in and because that's a lot of hair for these decorative pins to hold I'm going to add a couple of extra bobby pins at the top and Bottom and then, if you've got any stray pieces like this one here, I'm just going to twist them around and tuck them inside and you can get a bobby pin just to hold any in place as well. It'S a good idea just to check this for the mirror, just to make sure you haven't missed any pieces and if you're going to be out for a long time, a little bit of hairspray will hold this in place too. Putting your hair up doesn't have to be complicated. You think an accessory in just the right place adds a little bit of extra detail to your bun or any hairstyle, and makes it look a little bit more intentional and that you went to a lot of effort. I hope you've enjoyed these hairstyles. I am absolutely melting in my office today and I really need to turn the fan back on before I absolutely melt away I'd love to know if you're gon na try any of these hairstyles and if you do try them. I have very fine curly hair, some to my waist and I always end with a tight 'tiny' bun' that feels so inadequate. Thank you for reminding me that there are ways to make it not just better but pretty. Thank you for your positive, gentle approach.
