Art Trick For Drawing Hair ✨ #Shorts

hair! it’s deceptively difficult sometimes to make it not look too flat, too sharp, ykyk so here are some little things I do that help!

If you feel like your drawing's going great until you have to draw the hair, this tip might help you. The first thing you want to do is make sure you're drawing the whole skull like draw them like a weird, bald little alien baby. Next, you really want to establish the hairline, so you need to figure out where their face stops and their scalp begins for short hair. You might want to pick a spot for all the hair to sort of spiral out of making sure it all flows back to that point as it wraps around the head really helps give the flow of the hair some logic and with long hair, it can help To demarcate like a specific part, and then if you want the bangs to be different, you can kind of just use the hairline. Remember too, that hair has volume to it, so it should be separating away a bit from the scalp. There should be more mass above the scalp, don't forget to experiment with different hair textures. Good luck with your drawings.

Karichi Du Soleil: You’re style is evolving to something that is so enjoyable to look at and feels so distinctively yours. I really love it.

MsEpiphany: I love the way you explain this. Most artists I see when giving tutorials like this give “tips” that only please their art styles or preferences. This is genuinely good info on how to arrange it realistically. Thank you lavender

NoseRice: Before this my hair looked like a flat shape with random lines- I swear your tutorials/tricks are the only ones that I really stick with because they work with almost every style and aren't based off a bias for things like spesific color, or how to sketch the "right" way, etc...

Resin and Paints: I literally love her voice it’s so calm and kind of soothing also thank you sooo much I struggle with how I draw hair flow!!!

Dried Blueberries: I thought I was gonna watch this to learn something I didn't know, but It seems that that's my exact process haha! It really does help to draw the full skull and the hairline!

turtle_sketches: I was literally just looking up hairstyle references then you posted this short edit: thanks for the likes

Sketch With Aaron: Since I’ve seen this I literally always do the spiral thing and i feel like it’s definitely helped alot- Also I always do hair last on the head so that it just covers everything because my hair is purely lots of lines bunched together (sometimes not)

Gabriela Perez: Is fact that she makes it look so easy that gets me ✨

Karin Stardust: I appreciate the non-conventional traits that you use, like scars! It's really important to represent different body types etc.

OblyviioniZm: I saw this a few weeks ago and it like,,, genuinely helped. Humans are not my prime subject of drawing, but your YT short tips actually helped me begin a second storyline (I have a main one for my horse characters) involving humans. I genuinely and entirely appreciated this and it really helped. Still working towards that artstyle goal but I'm actually pretty satisfied with the one I have ^^ thank you!!

MannedUpCentral: Yeah, I'm drawing my characters for my game development and this helps. Thanks for the tip!

Sarroora Art: The most important part is indeed to choose the ‘parting’ where the hair sprouts from, whether long or short. That little tip changed my life XD

Sapphire The dog: This is so helpful! Thank you!

Thewaterspirit57: *YES! THIS!* I did the same thing when trying out hair again, on my first real try at a human character. Getting the hairline done first, instead of just *doing* the hair, is more helpful, and even allows you to properly draw and design a characters hair

Nanika-san: Nobody: *Me who watches kooleen’s art tutorials wondering why you’re so nice*

Noneya Beezwax: I honestly really like the original “flat” hair (ik this is a tutorial to make your hair less simple and more realistic, I’m just saying the simple hair has a lot of stylistic character go it that I like aswell.)

danie schenkekraft: I just really enjoy to look at your art style - it's kind of satisfying

Fionna's Gameplay: Putting the hairline on the head helped me out a bit. I've been doing it for a couple months now. Sometimes it helps so that my characters don't have too much forehead, but sometimes I either drew the head too large and I'd need to move the hairline more down. I still have a lot to master but yeah, the hairline tip is very good

Clartz Artz YT: This helps so much! Thank you

ZANGO: Remember, if you aren’t drawing a cartoon character these doesn’t always work. The thing is, a lot of people actually have barely any volume in their hair, and nobody has a hair part that’s just a single point except if you’re drawing a make. However, it’s recently more common for males to have more defined hair parts (middle, sides…)

Chill.Potatoe Shorts: This is really helpful, thanks!
