Hey nuggets welcome back to my channel and today i'm going to be doing a baby hair tutorial. So i just thought of this because i've never done it for procreate and i want to get more procreate tutorials on my channel, because i do have a lot of ibis paint videos that i do need to update as well. So yeah, don't worry, i'm going to be doing that um. So i got like three pictures of pinterest that i'm going to be recreating in this video and it's and it's the same baby hairstyles that you always see. So it's like the basic repetitive ones that i'm going to be recreating and it will seem difficult when i start doing it, but it's actually really simple because of the tool that i'm going to be using with which is called the liquify tool, the hair brush. I'M going to be using is also free and i will link it down in the description. It'S the same hair set that i use in all of my videos for procreate and it's called the new hair set and the brush in the new new hair set. I'M going to be using is called hair base and i use it to do the hair base and edges in every hair style that i've done yeah. I just love the brush, so create a hair base that looks similar to the picture that you chose and start drawing your hair base and make sure it's a clipping mask, so you don't have to erase you just go straight to doing the edges right. After doing the hair base, when you're doing your hair bases just to practice your baby hairs, you don't need to do it that neatly, because i'm going to be using the smudging tool to smudge out the roots, so it looks more presentable. So just a reminder before i start explaining how i started doing the baby hairs, i did not do a new lay-up and that was by accident. So don't be like me that messed up a little bit, because when you make a mistake really close to the hair base, you got ta redo. It so make sure you have a new layer. Okay, so the baby has i'm just doing like little curves and moving it to the end. You can use the liquify tool if you know what it is, and you know how to use it, but i decided not to do it because this is kind of simple, and this is how i do it all the time when i do hairstyles. I actually use the liquify tool for the baby hairs that curl at the end, because that's really hard to do without using the liquify tool and it sharpens out the edges nicely. So i wish i kinda used it more when i was doing basic edges on hairstyles, which i will start doing now by the way, so just a tip um make sure you keep looking at the reference, so you know you're doing it right like i was doing It more upwards when i was going to do it more downwards and a little bit more stretched out. If you know what i mean, so that was what i was doing with the second layer of the same style, and i think at this point you actually get what i mean and how to do this, and i also smudge out the baby hairs a little bit And have some sharpened little strands of hairs and not smudging all of it out, because then it's gon na look all weird and that's what happens when you don't make a new layer. I also forgot to mention, whilst i'm doing the baby hairs, you can tell that. I am using a light hand and going darker at the end of the baby hairs and also make sure that there's like more hairs in between the baby hairs. So it looks like i don't know how i'm trying to say it, but so it doesn't look too spaced out and bald in the middle parts of each baby. Hairs so yeah just make it brought together, keep adding light of strands of baby hairs and then darker ones, because that makes it look really. Nice do so for the side burns. I was trying to curl the ends without using the liquify tool, and that was hard, but now you get to see like how i was doing it and see the difference between using the liquify tool and not using the liquify tool. But it's all about preference. If you can't use it, but it's really easy, so what i was doing, i was curling it out, then i would use the eraser and i erased out a little bit. You can actually just leave it like this because to me it looks okay, but the next thing that i do is i use the brush and curl the end, and then i try to fill up the middle. So it doesn't look weird and then, if you could do that, you can move on to the next baby hairstyle. So now i'm pretty much done and moving on to the next baby hairstyle. So this is the next baby hairstyle that i'm going to be doing right now, i'm doing the hair base the way it looks in the picture, like i said in the beginning, make sure it looks kind of similar. Then i'm going to be using, then i'm going to be duplicating it, so you can see the vision of what i was doing with one side. Just imagine your mannequin has facial features, so you know what you're doing also my mannequin, i made it by myself. It'S really not difficult. You can watch my ibis paint version of it, but it's very old, but at least it gives you an idea of how i did mine on procreate. I will be doing one for procreate really soon. Don'T worry about that, but um, i'm just gon na fast forward, a little bit on me doing her hairbase and come back and explain how i'm going to be doing the baby hairs. And now you see what i'm doing better. Now i'm done with the hair base and i'm going to be making a new layer doing the edges and now you're going to use the same motion that we did for the first baby hairstyle and then i'm gon na start getting out the liquify tool and curving. It so it starts off big at the front, and then it goes. Then it kind of goes a little bit smaller, i'm used to it doing it smaller. Then i forget that i can just select it and enlarge it if you're, following this tutorial using procreate on a phone when you scale anything on procreate, it will pixelize. So i suggest you don't do that and just try to do it right without needing to scale it because then you're going to lose the quality of the brush that you used so, but, if you're using an ipad like me, it's not going to affect you now. I'M going to use the liquify tool it's right there and the size is about 13. Then i'm going to be using it to sharpen the end a little bit and actually start curving it out. So then i can know how to do the rest of the baby. Hairs at the front and then start curving it down, and now i'm going to be repeating the same steps on the other side. So with the liquify tool, you can literally manipulate the way you drew the baby hair in the first place and it's really cool. I wish that ibiz paint had this feature as well, so i'm about to give you a tip and show you what i mean meant by select it and enlarge it. So select it like this and then use the arrow and just move it up, move it and enlarge it. However, you want it to or you can duplicate it flip it over, do whatever you need to do with it, and the next thing i'm about to do is duplicate the edges and put it on the other side. So i don't have to repeat the same steps. Trying to get it around the other way, because i know it's always difficult doing that so yeah and then, when you're done, you can merge those layers down and go back and check if you want to put more little hair strands in between the edges or on The hair base, or whatever just make it, look really good, and now i'm gon na move on to the third baby, hairstyle that i'm gon na do and it's similar to this one. But it's more for the sides, if you're doing like a side angle and want to get the same style of baby hair. So this is the next one. I'M going to be doing it's not that difficult! So as long as you've mastered this one that we've just done, you should be fine doing this one. So i'm just gon na do a hairbase drawing the sides. Now i'm done with the sides and i'm going to make a new layer for the edges. So i can't really see what's going on at the top of the baby hair, so i'm just gon na do what i can see from the first two baby hairs that i can see in the picture. So it's curled like a bit of an s and then it's going bigger and then a little bit smaller on the other side. And then that's when we're going to use the liquify tool to sharpen the ends and curl the other part of it with the liquify tool, you can also push out the hair and get started with curling the ends and whatever's left to draw more hair strands. Next to the curl and just make it all look brought together, and i know this kind of seems complicated, so i would definitely duplicate it and put it at the front. You can switch, how the angle looks of it. However, you want it to look and then just create a different shape for the sideburns and you're basically done, and then, if it looks a bit too faded out to you, then you can just duplicate that and merge the layers down and there you go. So that's it for this video. I really hope it was okay to follow. It didn't seem that hard to me when i was doing it. Hopefully it was the same for you um also. If you want me to post the reference pictures that i have in this video, then let me know in the comments also, if you're new to my channel and want to subscribe.
