Hey there, everybody it's Mark, Crilley, I'm back with another how to draw a video. It'S been quite a while, since I did a video on hairstyles, so that's we're going to be doing today. I'Ve got two rectangles here. People like to know the size I'm working at. It'S two and a half inches from top to bottom. That works out to just a little over six centimeters from top to bottom there, and then what is that? Five and a half centimeters almost from side to side which works out to just a little over two inches and what I'm going to do is add. Just a couple of horizontal lines here for placing the eyes and the nose alright. So this first line here is pretty much at the exact halfway point, maybe a shade closer to the lower line, and I'm just splitting that in half - and you end up with these two lines - one that will be the top of the eyelash - you know top of Her eye and then this aline will be for placing the noses on both of these faces. So unfortunately, I can't really make this a video about how to draw face in profile is focused mainly on the hair, but I do have a video that is on that. Subject, drawing a face in profile even facing in this direction, so I'm going to go ahead and link to that I'll, put an annotation link here and then also in the infobox below. You won't find a direct link to that video on drawing a face in profile, but for now I'm just going to go ahead and get those lines in place using time lapse all right. Well, sorry, I had to do all of that in time-lapse, but the trade-off is that this is going to allow me to hopefully do the entire hairstyle real time, and what I'm going to begin by doing is delineating the upper edge of her forehead, the hairline at The forehead and I'm noticing, as I look at it, that it is a little closer to the top line than the bottom. Of course, different people have different domes, don't they in terms of forehead, so you can play around with that and move that line around. But it seems to me that almost any person has the hair come down and kind of frame the forehead in this way and then sort of head back at an angle where it you know if it were a man, it might go down into sideburns. I think for a woman, either there's just a very little hair there at all or, as in the case of this hairstyle, that I'm going to be doing. There is one of these classic little strands of hair I'll go ahead and put that in place. Sort of snaking its way down like a sort of loose strand of hair, although in this case I would suspect, it's deliberately left loose, you know and having got that in place, I think it is time for me to well I'm going to put in a couple Of lines here for the braids - and I should say that the sort of theme of this video is, I believe both of these hairstyles would fit into what we call them up do is that right, hair stylists? You can correct me if I'm wrong the type of hairstyle in which the hair is pulled up off the neck and sort of held in place, either on top of the head or in the back of the head, and in this case, there's going to be a Sort of a braid structure - and I'm not just you know making this up. I looked at images photographs on the internet of different hairstyles and saw one that I thought was quite an interesting hairstyle in the way that it combines braids with you know the sort of updo idea that I wanted to cover for this video. So not to repeat myself about having other videos, but I do have another video that covers how to draw braids, and so I'm going to link to that as well. That'Ll, maybe be the second link in the infobox. Where else yeah, you can have your annotation links switched on and I'll I'll put in an annotation link to that video about the braids that you can just click and it'll open in a new window, and you could, you know, pause this one come back to it. Whatever, but basically the it comes down to my approach is to get these sort of heart-like shapes or check mark like shapes in place first and then, once I've done that I can sort of separate well here, let's separate down this way separate these into the different Components, and so there you have a little braid put in place, but what was really interesting to me and I'm gon na erase a little of that initial guideline. There was that this hairstyle I saw - and I hope it's not like a radically unusual hairstyle, but it actually seemed to be pulling the bits of hair up across the side of the scalp and attaching them into the braid. So let me know folks if this is a radical, unusual, hairstyle or if it is in fact something that's quite common but um. I thought it was interesting that you had the braid and then you have these separate little much more. You know loose flowing parts of hair that were pulled up and seemed to be kind of attached into that braid, somehow or in any case it certainly looked like it, was being held in place up there beneath of the brain, so just sort of getting these lines In here and then these are not the final lines, a sort of rough looking and later on, I'm going to pull out my trusty black prismacolor to do final lines. But for now I can just sort of hang loose and allow the lines to be a little bit rough and then over here I'm going to have this hair come up a little bit above the line of her scalp, and it is, I mean this hair style Is really pulling quite tight to her head, but even so you're not going to have the hair completely at the line of the scalp, and I guess over here I'm going to suggest just one last little part of that braid as it curves around to get to The other side of her head and yeah: let's go ahead and continue. You can sort of see it. I'M mapping out the flow. It'S almost like the flow of water or something this hair. I did that last week tonight talking about a river flowing down the chest. Unless I must associated water and hair or something but anyway, I hope you can see that I'm separating these into sort of separate sections, subsections subdivisions and then later on, I'm going to redraw these lines to make them look a little more elegant, let's say, and now That I've got that in place. I want to well, I think the photo that I have studied seemed to have the braids coming back here and then eventually having sort of sections of hair that came up off the neck. Let'S go down I'll do that first, and I noticed that women's hair, I guess there's going to be different from one woman to another, but I noticed that this when you, when you pull the hair up off the neck, it really the neck area is quite visible. All the way up to the back of the ear, so that's something that I saw happening in different hairstyles like this but, as I said before, the the hair is going to have at least some body to it. So it's not following exactly along that. The line of the scalp and I'm almost kind of camouflaging that scalp line, and by way of these lines of the hair being pulled up. I sort of imagine this as a almost like a wedding day hairstyle. It seems to me very common that women, at least some women on their wedding day, will do one of these updos, where the hair is pulled up, and you know maybe with a braid and quite fancy to me. It sort of makes me think of like a Greek goddess or something there's something about this hairstyle makes me think of that type of character. So you know is, if you have an original character, that is a sort of a goddess like the character. You might consider letting her have a hairstyle like this. Now you can see me adding in a section back here, and this is what I was starting to talk about earlier - that the braid comes back and then there was some sort of area back here in which the braid got concealed by a variety of little strands. That were being tucked in in the back and I would assume held in place by a pin or something I knew, there's no way that that's all going to stay in place, just naturally by magic. That'S what's holding the hair in. As always, I know very little about the terminology and the sort of the art of hair styling, but let me go ahead and put in I'm going to put a rough indication here for this final little area that at least in the photo I studied had a Whole section of hair that was pulled over to the other side of the head. It looked to me each one of these lines: sort of symbolizes the direction of the hair, and I guess in general, as in in terms of offering advice about hairstyles is, I could say that it seems to me almost regardless of hair style. A lot of it has to do with focusing on the direction that the hair is flowing in or being pulled in, so that your lines reflect them and there's a sort of a structure. It'S almost like there's an architecture to the hair, but I'm going to break up that contour to accentuate the idea of this being various large strands of hair, and I believe that we are almost done here with this one hairstyle. So I hope that that was enough. In terms of doing something, real-time - and I am going to be going over this with my black prismacolor as to create final line work, but I really can't do that part real time. I think, would be boring anyway, but we do have this other hairstyle over here. That we need to do so. Bear with me I'm going to pull out my trusty blank prismacolor where's that oh here it is and do some final line work and then maybe we'll be able to move on to the next all right. Well, you can see. I raced away some of the guidelines and I probably will do more work in terms of using the black prismacolor later on, because I do want to add a limited color scheme to both of these hair styles. But for now I wanted to point out that you know when I go over these lines with the black prismacolor. I am sort of choosing to put most of the lines or the darkest parts in the lower areas is kind of like in preparing for a shading effect. So you know just because you've got hair in all of these areas doesn't mean that when you go in with the either an inking tool or in my case I'm using a black colored pencil that doesn't mean you go over every single line. I mean you can, if you want, but my preference is to be a little selective and, to you know, leave some of it up to your imagination. So you see more sort of blank. -- is -- areas up here, where I imagine sort of there'd be a glint of light almost and then I'm getting considerably more darkness in the other areas. Well, I think we've said enough about that gosh so long-winded. But let's move on now to this other face in profile and just as I did before, I'm going to get the basic guidelines in in time-lapse, but then we'll come back and hopefully be able to do the whole hairstyle in real time all right! Well, I've got all the lines where I need them to be, and now it is time to draw this hairstyle. So, as I said, different people have different sized forehead, so I thought I'd show what this character might look like with a sort of smaller forehead, and indeed maybe you know instead of saying that everyone's hair does this exact same thing over here? I think I'm going to have this run. You know we have some variation, as you can see the profile of this character. I'Ve drawn in a different way. I didn't want to have it just be the carbon copy of the previous drawing, but anyway, getting this in place. I'M going to do a somewhat different hairstyle this time showing what the hair would look like if we're a little more wavy, because this looks pretty much like straight hair, and so I'm going to begin by dividing this into a a sort of gently waving subsection. That comes a little bit across the forehead and then heads up in this direction and all of it is going to be pulled back into a kind of a bum in the back of the head and feckless here's. What I'll do I'll go ahead and put a basic rough guideline for the entire hairstyle, although you know because it's wavy, this is really just a basic guideline on the contour - should be considerably more interesting than that, but just to give the sort of basics in place. I want to show where this you know the hair would be in terms of being pulled back into a bun, and I'm going to start up here again just getting a basic shape and place here, a kind of large oval, and since this is wavy hair, this Will end up being a much more interesting shape by the time we're done, but I think that what I said earlier about the when the hair is being pulled up off the neck. I think it holds true for most people that that area of the neck goes up pretty high back behind the ear. So now that I've got that in place, maybe I can go back to what I was doing with this waving hair back here and I'm going to begin actually. But you racing the line of the scalp, which will, I feel, like it's gon na just sort of free me up to go ahead and put the various sections of hair where I want them to be, and I'm going to begin with a kind of a wavy Subsection that comes across all the way to the front. I guess it has two waves to it. Um, I think a lot about drawing hair style is sort of getting at least one area in place and then building around that right. So I I decided that this was coming across the forehead and then maybe that leads to another sort of gently waving subsection that comes back toward the the bum. Of course, the. But the bun in the back of her head becomes the the organizing principle in a lot of ways. All of these different sections of hair need to be joined together back there, and so you, I guess you've got two things that are deciding the way you draw. This one is that you know the hair is going to come off. The forehead in you know begin the lines are all going to begin here near the forehead them, and you know they have to eventually land back there near this bum. So that kind of those two different things are determining the the way you drop in these various areas, but you can see I'm beginning by basically roping off big, wide, simple sections. One thing that I noticed in a hairstyle that was much like this. You know that this is based on was that you were able to see back here much as we saw in this one. You were able to see the hair coming up off the neck, and so that's one thing that you could get in there right from the get-go knowing okay well this. If this is visible, then this is the way that here works. Basically, you know you're trying to avoid it turning into a mass of lines, and I think that happens when you don't have a plan when you're just sort of like well throw some lines here and throw some lines there. I think you got to be strategizing and sort of thinking through the the architecture of the hair, so that every line you put down makes sense. You know so I'm going in again making them sort of gently waving. The subsections - and this is, as I said before, is going to help to break up this contour line and make it way more interesting, and I guess, having got that this big section back here that heads back towards the bum having got that in place, I can Just have other waves that are behind it. I thought it might be interesting if she has a little loose bit of hair up here in the front. Maybe she deliberately left a little loose curl up there off to one side and let's see what we do next, I think it's time to get into drawing this bun now this is now. I want to be super tight kind of schoolmarm librarian type bums, but this is going to be much more of a loose kind of you know it's it's tied together, the this wavy hair, but in a very loose way. So I'm just going in and kind of creating these subsections again that apply keep using the word subsection. I can't think of what else: don't call these these strands of hair and having them all sort of loop together towards you know the suggestion of something that's binding. It all together in there, whether it's a hairband or some sort of clip or something that's hold it in place, but again it's not just random. I sort of have an idea that okay, it's almost like the I present the bow that you put on a present that all of those pieces of ribbon kind of looped together and are held in place in the center. So that's my theory of drawing this bum of hair and my apologies. If my advice on all this stuff is less than brilliant, I'm, as you know, I'm not used to doing real-time for super long sections of a video, and I suppose I could sit down and write out in advance all the stuff that I intend to say, but That would kill all the spontaneity so yeah a lot of this stuff. You can tell it's not kind of off the top of my head, but I thought it would be. This would be more interesting if I got you know, as I had here, a little curl get some loose curls back here as well. That will add to this idea of the of this. Being you know, hair, that's free! It'S bound in a very loose way. That is allowing some little stray curls to come out, and you know I enjoyed the freedom of knowing that these are not my final lines that I can keep them. Kind of rough from them know that the final lines will be done with that black prismacolor. But again I sort of want to have a plan in place about you know weird. While the dark lines go, and I would say that for me, one thing that works is towards the end. The ends both ends of these subsections. That'S where I figure I'm going to get my darker lines and then the middle things will lighten up a little. I think I'll get one more little area back here, and maybe that tells you most of what you need to know, although now that I've committed to doing this real-time, I feel I feel like it. You got to see me. Do the entire thing now there's no turning back, we've committed to it. You'Re, not gon na rat us out, Iook, really don't bring an old time-lapse man, old, time-lapse man don't bring him into you. Finally, dumb old time-lapse man, he would be offended by a Brooklyn guy, not remembering his proper name. In any case, I think you know that I've completely run out of things to say about this, but I hope you found this useful. It'S a way of showing wavy hair. I haven't done so many videos that show wavy hair, so I wanted to make sure I did at least one that covered that topic. In fact, some people have requested really curly hair, like you see, is it Merida in the movie brave you know, has like the insanely curly hair. I mean beautiful hair. It must be said that that kind of curly hair is just gorgeous but to try to draw it whoo yeah, it's tough stuff, but who knows if if people want me to do that, maybe I can I can do a video about that. It won't all be real time. I can promise you that, so that takes us to the end of this real time edition of drawing this hairstyle. I hope that you found a use for them and go ahead and pull out the black prismacolor. Do the final lines and then we're going to come back and just do a little quick coloring to finish off this, this video all right, so I've got all these black prismacolor lines where they need to be. I did want to point out that I sort of corrected things here, this area near the temple out of that there just wasn't quite enough hair there. It wasn't as far forward on the head as it should have been so just a little point there, and now it is time to add color to this illustration, I'm going to do it with markers and I'm only going to use two different markers. One of them is a prismacolor keeping it in the family they're the eggshell. I'Ve used this before in one of my videos, it's a nice color and then this one they touch the shin heung art touch marker and, oh, my goodness. What is this? Oh, they put it on the end. There sorry about this folks, 104 Brown gray. They call it, although it doesn't look like anything like grey to me, but I'm going to go ahead and do a little bit of this real time. But it's mostly going to be in time-lapse, but I'll go ahead, and here I'll do just this section here near the front of her forehead and putting down a base color a lighter color, just to sort of build on top of later on. And you know what I'll just stop right here in this area and switch already right now to the darker color, which is this one, the brown gray? And I guess they call it, and I just wanted to show you how my idea is to only use this. For the lower areas and to let that paler yellowish color come through in the upper regions. Well, I'm not super articulate today. What is the deal? Grilling you need more coffee is what you need it, or maybe I just need more old, time-lapse man, everyone's gon na, be like old-time lads, man yeah. Where did that come from? Don'T you know the names of your own imaginary characters? In any case, this sort of shows you my approach, my to marker approach that I'm going to be using for coloring in both of these hairstyles. I'M just going to go ahead and do it all with these two markers - and you know I'll finish - that off in time lapse and then be back with a few final works all right. Well, there's my video on how to draw up do type hairstyles. Let me know you thought of it: I've always been a fan of this type of hairstyle. In fact, that's why I incorporated it into my Brody's ghost graphic novel series by way of the ghost character Talia, who has just such a hair style. In fact, it's time for me to thank anyone who has supported me by picking up that series there. She is Talia with her little updo as well as Miki falls my two graphic novel series and mastering manga and mastering manga my how to draw books. I'M always very greatly appreciative of anyone who supports me by getting those bunks and sadly, I'm not going to add any blushes this time. Folks, I just feel like it doesn't quite fit this drawing style, also, no gouache. What is the world coming to? Hopefully I can bring both of those back next week, but for now let me go ahead and lay down this pencil. I want to thank you all for watching this video. I hope you enjoyed it and I'll be back with another one real soon. You

Dre.dre.savage: This is hands down one of the nicest parts of youtube. The content is lovely, never fails to put a smile on my lips. And the viewers all seem so polite and thoughtfull, I almost never see mean comments around here. So glad to sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy your soothing voice weekly. Keep it comming! <3

Ms Maybe: 5:13 it's called a french braid, and yes, it's EXTREMELY common! I do it all the time :)

sharon mxlika: Can you do tutorials on African American hairstyles like dreads, cornrows, etc?

Bethany Frerichs: Just found your channel looking for how to draw hair. THANK YOU for not doing time lapse! It's so hard to find videos that are just full drawings and not fast forward the entire time. I love how you talk and flow easily through the videos. I've never drawn Manga characters but my daughter does. I'll have to show her your videos. Thank you for taking the time to sketch out and explain how to draw.

dakota graham: I don't draw but I love your videos they're very relaxing You're like the Bob Ross of manga

Fallen0203: You continue to amaze me.......I want to thank you for your tutorials, they helped me a lot when it came to drawling!

TRamp94: Mark, this video was really nice! I've always wanted to draw some particular hairstyle and this gave me a lot of inspiration!

Joshua Barger: Great video! Never hurts to learn how to draw new hairstyles!

Nikki Hastie: Yes, another hairstyle video! I absolutely love your videos, you are such an amazing and talented artist. Your videos are great because you not only teach how to draw, but you give general good tips along the way. Thanks for all the help, Crilley! :3

xNekoNekoo: This was soo enjoyable and inspirational!! I can watch you draw forever Mark<33

Black Rhino Illustration: Of all the "how to draw hair" videos I have studied on Youtube, I found this one to be the best for my current needs. "How to draw [specific style of] hair" seems to be the most useful. Everything else out there is too general. Thank you.

Ellie Rush: These hairstyles are so pretty! You're such an amazing artist~ :D

Megan Loving: WOW! It's amazing. I can never get up-do, hairstyles right and you just helped me out a bunch. Thanks, Mark ^-^

Daniel Brennan: You never cease to amaze me with your talent. Where does it end?! This was an amazing and very helpful video, and I love the second hairstyle so much!! Keep up the amazing work!

anika den: I can't explain how great your Mastering Manga books were! Thank you so much! Because of you, I was finally able to see progress. I have been watching your videos since last year, and you explain things so clearly. Thank you, Mark.

Dale Travers: Thank you so much for covering this topic, I found a lot of useful pieces of advice here. The video is as always inspiring, the final effect looks amazing and I admire the confidence in your moves. Super cool!

Floorborade: Wow, you're amazing at drawing. This helps a lot ^^ Thanks Mark!

Owli Sketches: I love how you said that a hairstyle can look pretty much any way and look good as long as you keep the flow correct! That really helps, especially if you are doing a large and unique hairstyle!

Hunter Wolfe: Hey Mark! I love your videos. They've helped me so, so much since I've found them. You are pretty much the best video art tutorial maker I've seen. Which is why it's you I'm asking to do this. I was wondering if you could do a video on how to draw realistic/semi-realistic noses, in either 2/3 or head on view. I was thinking of something a bit more detailed than your 'Realistic Manga Face' tutorials, or at least different nose shapes. Like... It's pretty difficult, at least for me, to draw more difined or bigger or more hooked noses without making them look super huge or like a beak. I do think quite a few of us could benefit from some more instruction in the area. Thanks in advance, Master Crilley. Ps. Just got the first Brody's Ghost book. Love how expressive you made Brody! And Mikey was bloody terrifying.

Ola M.E.: I have been having trouble drawing updo hairstyles. Thank you soooooo much for this video!!! Super helpful!!

Jennifer: Your videos have helped me so much with my drawing! Thank you :)

Natascha Clerinx: No  gouache! It's the end :D Lovely hairstyles. Thank you for the explanation of the wavy hair texture, now I know where to start with it and I'm going to try it. But I am kinda hoping for a Merida tutorial :D But them curls though :D

Ghost: I love this, it really helps me learn how to draw hair textures a lot easier.

CoffeeCat J: These are some really nice hair styles. I really enjoyed the video, as always. I was wondering, since you mentioned "him", how about showing, what the character "old man time lapse" might look like? How would you go about designing such a character? Just thinking it might be interesting. Looking forward to the next video!

InsnlyTwstd: This was awesomely done Mark! I like that you didn't do too much time lapse. Me and my daughters watch your videos, so it's nice girls and father time :) Keep up the excellent work!!

brazilianjk: Thank you for the wavy hair bun. It's so pretty and I always have trouble with wavy hair

Misti Future: I have to say that they look incredible!! And I think the wavy hairstyle is my favorite!  I'm not the best with wavy hair so I think this will help my greatly! Thanks :D

Darrell Elliott: Love the video! hair always is a bit tricky for me it always seems to end up looking like a wig or like a furry animal purched on the head, but it just takes practice and like you said you need a plan. Looking forward to next weeks video. Also what alternitive pencil can you use instead of the black prismacolor as it is impossible to get one here in Gibraltar Ty again :-)

XDilya: Great video!:) about the hair: It seems to be some kind of Dutch braid:) it's pretty common to use it in both formal updos and in every day looks, it kind of depends on the messiness:) this one I would say is a formal one:)

Hocus Krocus: I would love a video on curly hair! I have characters with curly hair, and can never find a way to 'simplify' it. Its always just ends up looking like like realistic hair slapped on a stylized drawing. A how-to would be very appreciated.

J'Lord Wimsely: Great tutorial setup Mark you inspire me to keep making art tutorials myself

AoMangaka: Great art Mark! I aspire to grow and develop my skills to reach a level on par with yours :)

Yenthe: This was really helpfull! Your videos really made me draw a lot better! ^_^

Elena Liem: Hi Mark! I've watched a few of your videos before, because your time-lapses and realism challenges are really fun to watch! I studied for an exam today for several hours, which gets boring, so while studying I put on my headphones and put on your entire set list of how to draw videos(I watched the first 80 consecutively). It was really awesome to watch your drawing process over time, plus you can explain your thinking/logic very well and I love your personality! You seem like a really nice and funny person :3 I like to draw, but I'm still learning a lot (my Instagram is @elenalovesdrawing) and watching your videos has REALLY encouraged me to start a youtube channel, because it seems so fun to share the process of drawing. Thank you so much for inspiration! Also, if you don't mind, do you have any tips for a beginner at posting/recording youtube videos?

Melissa Crest: Hey mark, I really like this video, it's very helpful. I have a question. When drawing characters, how do you make sure they stay proportionate when you draw them in poses? This is something I struggle with and I don't know what I can do to make sure the bodies look right.

MszGigglz: Thank you for doing this video. Both updo styles are very beautiful. Can you please please please do a video on very curly hair?

saff turner: So helpful, thank you so much<3!

kathy quiroga: This is amazing artwork and your idea of hairstyles are impresivd i can tell you habe done alot of studying if pictures and i love these drawings but i think it would look a little bit more hiar like if the brids were a tad but more rounded and fluffy (im studying to be a cosmologist) thank you for the video :)

Saahil Dhar: you draw varied features SO WELL. Do you think you can do a video showing how to make differently featured faces and how to make them consistent? (more in a realistic style like here than in a miki falls/ brody's ghost style where the characters have such trademark features that they don't need to be struggled with for consistency) Thanks!

Kathleen Faith: I already learned how to draw a crown braid updo on my own but it never hurts to watch a video about it!

Jazlyn Davis: Love it love it love it this makes me want an updo myself

Weronika Swiatkowska: Your tutorials are amazing! I have become a much better artist because of them ;)

Daniel Mackay: These hairstyles are simply wonderful, Crilley! I especially like the wavy bun ^_^ Both have given me a few ideas actually, to the sketchpad!! Also, with how common 'Old Man Timelapse' (or I guess now "Old Timelapse Man" XD) is in your videos, I'm honestly surprised nobody's given him an actual design! You should do that! I'm tempted to myself as a little thank you for posting all these wonderful videos. The advice you give is always very helpful! I don't know, what do you think? Maybe Old Man Timelapse doesn't want to show his face X3 Anyway, another great video, Crilley! I can't wait to see what you decide to show us next!

Gabi Hill: I absolutely adore your channel! It's very helpful! Could you do a video on shading?

Mig: Hey Mark, I just wanted to let you know that you REALLY make GREAT Videos. I mean, i am bad at drawing and artists like you are like wizards to me, but that's not what I wanted to write about :D For me, your Videos are inspirational on a different level. When you talk about what you noticed when looking at people or photos or whatever and how you studied what you see, I always feel like a live my life with my eyes closed. I mean, when I see a pictur I see a person, no flow of strains or something, and when you talk about that, I google those pictures and look for those things and I recognize them are am totally fascinated :D Thank you for the little wonders, you and your Videos give me all the time ;) Keep up the great work, maybe I don't know your channel for so long, but I am definitely a big fan ! (Please excuse any mistakes, english is not my first language :/ )

AzureOcean: Hey, you've made a great video as always. Is there a chance that you could do a video of drawing half realistic lips and how to put them on face. I mean, how to get them look right and so, I've been struggling with that for quite a long time. And like someone said earlier, how to do water/river/even rain? But yeah, you're awesome ^^

Stine Kjærgaard: You are so great, your videos have really helped me get better, i love drawing but im not that good at it, so this helps a lot! Thanks

Dark_Angel07: I love your videos, they are so helpful. Could you please do a video on how to draw a realistic nose? I've always had trouble with this.

Lina J: I feel sad Mark is replying to alot of comments but never replying to mine anyway .. you are really great and your videos are awesome, you helped me alot so thanks a bunch dude just in case you read this one !!!

Anne de Wit: Hi Marc! I started drawing more manga/ anime because of youre video's! I think alot that it is so hard to draw.. But how you explain it.. It is so easy.. I really want to thank you!

Callenleya: I would love love love to see a How to draw Meriada video!!! Thanks for all your great instructions!!

CharlotteRose: Man, I wish I was that good at drawing!! They look awesome!

Raina Tarendash: Your videos are awesome! Do you think you can make a tutorial about understanding gesture. It's a really hard concept for me to grasp and I feel like you would teach it fantastically

TheRespectVlogs: Hi Mark,i really like your videos, and i see you put a lot of hard work in them and passion. If you don't mid i have a suggestion: Can you draw Kaneki Ken from Tokyo Ghoul? That will be really awesome! :)

layla M: Omg this helped me out so much!! Thanks! :)

Cute Little Girl: Thank you so much for these amazing videos before ı started drawing ı always wanted to draw and ı search for 'realistic eye' and you video show up and my drawing started thank you so so much for your amazing videos^^

Brenda Evangelista: As always....simply fantastic. :)

colorpaper princess: it is very helpful! Thank you:)

Anna Vahtera: Was watching (again) a bunch of your vids, namely the cuddly-pose and hoodie-drawing ones. If you ever decide to revisit the clothing folds and/or general clothing tips, Here's one vote for doing medieval/fantasy cloaks & robes with hoods. Plenty of room for clothing folds there :P (Also those are deviously hard to draw, so any help there is probably always appreciated ^_^ )

Zed The Master Of Shadows: What age did you start drawing? And when did you get really good at it? Cause your drawings are soo hyper realistic and this really inspired me to draw things such as animes (even though I'm still practicing that doesn't mean I'll give up that easily )

Gandellion: I'd love to see some insanely curly hair :)

corganic: I would LOVE to see a video on curly hair! X3

Ultiray The Second: Love it ! Thanks :)) helpful !

Paranoid1996: You should do "Short Bob" next, Mark :). That's my favourite hairstyle :D.

Jack: Mark, I'm a huge fan of your work... I would love to see you working with oil paint one time!

Anonymous: Even without the blushies and gouache it still looks great. :)

Christopher Collins: Dang! These are really intricate brads. I am glad you showed and made this video. It has me more interested in drawing hair brads now.

amiguely: Have you tried doing digital art? I would love to see a video on that :)

Tealnarwhal: Mark you are an AMAZING artist and one day id like to draw like you  also can you do a tutorial on drawing people for beginners (thank you)your awesome

Samantha D: Does anyone else like his voice? XD Anyway, in case you read this Mark I just want to say all your videos inspire me soooo much! You help me out and not just because you draw well but because you are just inspiring. Watching your videos is just a good way to blow time, so thanks for that.

Kylie: I am pretty sure you have previously been told this, but that type of braid is called a Dutch braid, and is very similar to the French braid, as it is a reverse of a French braid. As far as those braided updos reminding you of the Greek godesses, it's probably the way that you gridlock and template the braids. The separated hearted patterns you use do seem reminiscent of a leaflet crown to me.

Trash Dove: I would love to see some on short hair. :)

Mimi Grace: Mark I love how you seemed mystified by the idea of the hair being pulled into the braid :) made me chuckle. Be Well!

Goucky: Really interesting! Does the hairstyle on the right look (a little) loose because of the way curly hair naturally behaves? Or is it just in its unique style?

Marie-Anne Caillot: The one with the braid reminds me of a character from the Belgian comic Yoko Tsuno, who comes from the Middle-Ages! Made me nostalgic! Amazing videos btw :)

Becky Weightman: What you are doing in the first hair style with the braid is called a 'lace dutch braid'. I do the braid portion all the time in my daughters hair. I've been subscribed to your channed for several years now and love your vidios to bits, whether I am looking for some specific help with something or just having you going in the backfround while I do my own illustration work. your great motivator and insparation for me. By the way, I have all of 'Miki', 'Brody and your how to draw books. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, BOOKS, WORK IN GENERAL!!! keep it up!

Love Relentlessly: I have just recently found your video's. I love to draw but never had any schooling. These video's help a lot and I noticed that I already use some of your techniques! Your great sense of humor helps too, it take the pressure off, so please continue. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos!!! Your talent is off the charts!! Hugs!

Vaibhav Razdan: Mark finally a nice one ,was waiting for such vedios for long time But I really like you to do narrated vedios on High quality art like real life potrait you know like going step by step And I would als like to know if you can teach us how to write in different styles you like graffiti is there and ink pen calligraphy I am looking forward to it And Thanks man keep it up

Adversary Samurai: Please do Meredith! Oh man, last video I mentioned I wanted to see hair done like Kyra from Chronicles of Riddick, but Meredith is like an extreme form of that, haha. I know that'd be pretty tough though. Like really tough.

S Hulan: Thank you for demystifying the updo!

Xavier Sanchez-South: Hi I just wanted to ask you a question. When you draw manga pages for your mangas what paper do u use for example : A4 cartridge paper or any other kind?

Havana: I'm so glad you keep making these videos!

Isaac Taccone: Wow, 1.96 million subscribers. Good job March, almost at 2 mill! But I'm just curious, who else remembers 2009 when there wasn't even a fraction of this many people here. It's just amazing how thing grow :D. Keep up the amazing work mark, and I'm definitely getting you next book.

BearyCute.Illustrations: Can you please teach us how to do different styles of curly hair?

Sofia Circus: so pretty!! I kind of want to try to do that first one irl X)

Artist'sCircle: If you have enough experience with watercolor, could you do a tutorial on how to color manga with it? thanks!

Vikki Lynn: I love these videos so much xx and yes these kinds of hairstyles are pretty normal to girls haha

Emaan: Your drawings are amazing! At what age did you start?:)

GothMermaidGamer: Please do more videos on coloring, I need help with that c:

Aurore: as usual amazingly helpful video,  but it would be good to see those same hair from the back ? especially for that 2nd one

Amanda Lumax: You're Sooo good at drawing!

Merppies: @markcrilley can you do a tutorial on how to draw male proportion in shoujo style? Because in ur mastering manga, it says their are different body types. Since I draw in shoujo style, I want to draw male body proportions in shoujo style forms. Thank u!^^

Vivian: I believe that the "radical hairstyle" that you're referring to is a loose french/dutch braid. :)

Samuel Lammoureux: Mark! Can you do a video on drawing different ethnicity's faces on both genders? Like African American, Caucasian, Native American?

Scarlet Letter: Wow !! Love it !

joly: (You asked for people to share if the first hairstyle was common) the hairstyle itself with the wrap around braid isn't common per say but the "French braid" type of hairstyle pulling the hair from the scalp into the braid is fairly common from what I've seen and what I personally do with my hair :)

Pheebs: amazing art, just a request but could you do chibis in different styles like body shape. if you know what i mean.;) *thumbs up*
