You spend hours putting on your makeup, picking out the right outfit, choosing the right jewelry and then you put an ugly piece of plastic in your hair? Use a classy hair accessory and dress yourself up.
This simple hair style, hair do is made with a French comb. No more claw clip. This simple short and fast style will pin up your hair and give you a great look in less than 5 min.

French combs have been around for hundreds of years - and many common myths about these combs are simply not true. using one has very little to do with what KIND of hair you have. But more with HOW you put it in your hair.
When compared with a claw clip, though they may seem easy to use, the problem with claw clips is that they are uncomfortable, unattractive, and slide out of your hair often. And Many people think it's easier to use a claw clip instead of a French comb! This too is just not true.
With a Byrd Designs french comb, you put your hair up the exact same way as you would with a claw clip. But with the comb, you turn it over, weave it through the roll just slightly, flip the comb over and shimmy it in until it lays flat against your head. That's it. No more ugly or uncomfortable claw clip!

downbntout: I've used both, and combs fall out many times more readily than butterfly clips, which can look just as nice. Comb = no spring to maintain hold.
Kristina: The key to this is to have a really good quality comb, I actually have a pair made in France, but I couldn't tell you where I got them, I've had them forever and can't remember if I bought them or if they were a gift or something left at my house. But they have lasted, I've had them for nearly 2 decades. There really is a difference.

My hair is so, so SO THICK you would not believe it and everything BUT a claw just slips right on out because it is so HEAVY! The only comb that would probably word is one 7 inches long and about 5,000 + bobby pins. GRRR!
Technicolor YaYa: Sliding out of my hair was never my problem... My problem was my hair is so thick that the claw clips don't close all the way and the teeth on them poke my head. Very painful. Even the ones for thick hair. Just because the shape is different, doesn't mean that the volume capacity is more. I now have locks, so the claw is a non-issue. Makes me happy. But I do love the look of combs.
medvecky1: I agree about the ugliness of claw clips. I have a lot of French Twist combs, regular decorative combs and decorative beak and alligator clips. Do you know where I keep these things? In my jewelry armoire because they are literally jewelry for my very long hair. I do have a few claw clips, but they are used to hold hair that I am not working on out of the way when I am creating my hairstyle for the day.

Just because there is a public video out saying something otherwise, you people (gotta be politically correct here : /) stand on your own and are not brainwashed by the media. I too love my claw clips! They are so fast and easy and look awesome! Can't tell you how many "bad hair days" it has saved me from! I do agree though, that combs are nice too, as an alternative. We can never have enough fun hair accessory alternatives and this video does give a great demo on how to use them and for that I am greatful : )

JJJLongHair4u2c: I have to disagree...claw clips work very well holding long hair. I could never hold my hair with a comb although they are pretty. I wish you did the demo on a human, not a fake head of hair.

We try to source as much as we can in the USA however sometimes this isn't possible. The crystals we use are made in Austria by Swarovski. The hair barrettes are made in France (this is the best quality available). I would direct you to some of our pick combs that are without crystals if you want something made in USA with all Made in USA parts.

It takes a lot of time to make each item and we use all quality materials like Swarovski Austrian crystals and French quality barrettes. Our items are made in the USA by an artist. When you buy something of high quality, it lasts for many years, when you buy something cheap, it is usually made in China and itit falls apart or doesn't work..

If it isn't plastic or tortoise shell, what is it and where exactly is it made in the USA? Where do you get the butterflies and jewels from that you put on your hairclip? Are they bought at a craft store or can you also guarantee they are made in the USA? I am wanting something completely American-made. I want an item that has no parts made overseas.

Tari Tangeo: Combs are honestly garbage if you try to use them instead of crabs for quick and sturdy updo. I've spent days trying to figure out how to make it stay for at least an hour. And if you waste your time on makeup and picking the jewelery and outfit then you should do a proper updo hairstyle with bobby and U-pins and use combs on top of that for decoration.
