Are you ready to take on the summer? Since it is now officially summer, I want to touch on some of the newest trends of the season. Check out 5 of the hottest summer 2016 hairstyles and trends to keep you #OnPoint this year.

5. The Bob

Bobs continue their strong momentum into mid-2016. These haircuts have been popular for the last few years and probably will remain popular for more years to come. They are ultra-flattering on almost everyone and they are the epitome of “chic.” Although there are many different types of bobs (including the “lob“), 2016 is mostly about your typical, old-fashioned bob haircut.

4. The Modern Shag

The modern version of a shag haircut is a great way to keep things edgy, yet stylish this summer. Shaggy, textured hairstyles have also been pretty popular for a while now, but 2016 is about the actual full-shag haircut. A true shag cut is created when all hair is cut at a 180-degree angle. This means that all hair is pulled straight up before it is cut. The result is a lot of layering, with the layers gradually getting longer as they go down. However, the term “shag” is used loosely with any very-layered haircut.

3. Mini Braids

As with the previous styles of this summer, braids have been on the rise for the past few years. Even though all types of braids continue to be popular, runway fashion has brought attention to mini braids this summer. To achieve this look, just incorporate multiple (or single) small braids into any other type of hairstyle.

2. Pastel Hair Color

2015 and 2016 have been really big in the world of hair color. Nearly every type of crazy hair color has been achieved, including colors that are meant to look like something else (ex: opal hair, oil slick hair, galaxy hair, etc.)  Summer 2016 is all about the faded pastel hair colors.

1. Baby Bangs

Baby bangs are the hottest look of 2016 so far. Short, straight bangs seem to graze the face of everyone this summer, although they could also be textured. You are very likely to see these bangs incorporated with the other hairstyles listed in this article. I don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon.
