Prep Perfection - How To Make Sure Your Hair Styling Lasts And Lasts!

I'm so excited to share with you the first episode in my new series, Craig's World of Hair and what better place to start than at the beginning.

Prep Perfection is all you need to know about getting your hair ready for styling, whether it's a big bouncy blow dry you're going for or whether you just want to keep the moisture out of your frizz prone hair!

Always start with really clean hair. Dry shampoo is great 3 days in but nothings going to hold on top of that! My biggest tip when shampooing at home is to go steady with the conditioner. It's easy to over use and while it makes your hair feel soft, it will shorten the life-span of your hair-do.

Next comes the most important step, styling product. As a young hairdresser it wasn't until I started getting out of the salon on session jobs that I realised how crucial the correct product and how much of it you use are. When I'm prepping hair for the red carpet or a client on a night out, people are often shocked at how much mousse I apply, although it's not about using a whole can of SUPER strong hold goo! There are of course hundreds of products out there to choose from (an upcoming review of my favourite sprays coming soon) but mousse is a foolproof way to get hold and lock humidity out, it also often adds heat protection...a great all rounder. Always comb it through from roots to ends, even distribution is key.

As you'll see in the episode, I'm a huge fan of Y S Park brushes, a essential in my kit bag. They do come in around the £60 mark, but when you consider the one I use in the video is 20 years old, that's amazing value for money and whats more they are kind to the hair. If you find it hard to get your hair smooth and shiny, you need these brushes, simple. I would always advise a client to take 80% of the moisture out of the hair before going in with a brush and ALWAYS use the nozzle on your hair dryer. It helps to smooth the surface of the hair and cuts down drying time by concentrating the air flow.

So guys, thats it for Prep Perfection. I hope you find the video helpful, we had loads of fun putting it together, please leave your comments below and subscribe - my next how-to is coming soon!

One last thing - the products and equipment I use in these videos are my favourites, i haven't been paid to endorse them, and I'm not affiliated to the companies in any way.

Hi guys, I'm here at 11 and today, I'm going to be talking to you about prep prep is an important step of styling, your hair at home. If you want your Styles to last, if you don't prep it ain't gon na hold up so I've shampooed, Sylvie's, hair twice and conditioned, and now I'm going to apply joy, Cove, kpac thermal design, foam. This is my go-to mousse in salon and in my session bag. It doesn't make the hair sticky, but it gives you the hole that you need to keep everything in place, so I've applied three golf ball-sized amounts of moves to Silva's hair. It'S important to remember when using any styling products to comb it through once you've finished, applying it just to make sure it's even in distributed throughout the hair. So I blow-dried Silva's hair using a wires part bristle brush these incredible. Japanese brushes are my go-to favorite and I've always had them in my kit, the natural bristles smooth out the hair without doing any damage. You see. A lot of metal brushes around now and metal against hair is a real nono. So that's it that Sylvie's hair threat, humidity resistant, full of volume and ready to go.
