Oh, hey guys it's tamale skills today, I just want to share with you how I became a traveling hairstylist. So first just let me say it was not my intentions, it wasn't my dreams. I never even thought about being a traveling hairstylist who just really just kind of happened. So initially I'm been to my hair since I was 14 and I got licensed in Tampa Florida Paul Mitchell to school, we're in Tampa. I built a really large clientele, worked there for over ten years, had a salon suite and out of the blue. My husband got promotion that was in New York, so he came home and told me we're moving to New York and three weeks I was like. Oh my gosh in three weeks like I have solana, clients like whatever am I going to do my clients will very understanding close the salon suite and we moved to New York within three weeks, which the move was very scary but turned out to be one of The best decisions we've ever made in our lives, so once I got to New York, you actually have to take the test over because of the education requirements are different, which is fine within the first three months, got the new license, checked out a bunch of salons And eventually decided that in big studios was the best place for me, because they specialize in extensions, which I specialize in extensions and wigs we're there for about a year year and a half and at another point in our lives. My husband got an even better job opportunity, which has happens to be in San Jose California, so here we are again with another three week: notice three must be our favorite number. I guess um here we are in where I became established in New York. Had a great clientele where it was some amazing people, even celebrities, MCV, you name it. I was really doing well within a year and a half that we were in New York. But me my husband definitely believe that any opportunity for him or for me individually, is an opportunity for both of us. So I was more than willing to move to California where, honestly, within a week of being there, I started working at a salon. The crazy story is, I was walking to Walgreens to buy something because it was right around a corner for where we were staying song salon and I was like hey. Let me just go in end up getting my hair shampoo, because I want to check out the salon end up liking, the salon like in the owner and the next day. I was doing a weave at the salon without even being licensed in California, which I am now licensed in California, in New York and floors, so try Costa, hair stylist, which is going really well so far. So the traveling party min where I had clients in Tampa Florida and I had clients in New York, New York so because I'm so connected to my clients. I wanted to stay in touch and I also wanted to just be there with them and not just leave them hanging in with a three-week notice and that's the hair stylist. I'M sure you know that you can't just relocate and start working at a salon and have a fully booked schedule. It does not work that way, which was a great thing for me, that I could work anywhere and still be able to travel back to my clients and service them, and I also sold wig. So another thing that kept me connected to my clients in each state was the fact that I mailed them out wigs that when I do go travel I still about their hair. So that's the story. How I became a traveling hair stylist, which I travelled to New York every six weeks with somebody. People may say it's a lot, but I can't ever say my New York. Girls are a little high maintenance and says New York is so fast-paced people there may or may not lose the attention span versus my clients in Florida, where there are so many hairstylist of I go there every three to four months, which works out a lot because All my friends and family are there and I get some visitin while I'm there, so that pretty much sums up how we can be traveling hairstylist if anybody is interested in becoming travelin hair, stylist feel free to comment below as questions I love to share my experience. I love to hear stories of other travelling hairstylist, so just thank you for tuning. In so now you know: how's Amaya's Bureaus became a traveling hairstylist and just subscribe. PardonMy_Natural: Hello. I am interested in becoming a traveling braider and would love some insight on the financial end. Being that you do travel and there are travel expenses, how do you charge your client base in each location? How do you determine what to charge? Or do you even charge different rates when traveling?

ThatLesbianCouple: I would love to see what your traveling kit looks like and how you pack it.

Lana: So where do you begin if you don’t have a husband who keeps a steady job while you’re in in out of work due to traveling and not having a steady clientele in new places? Is this a common thing? I want to be a hair stylist but I also love traveling so this sounds like an amazing way to live.

Tamara: Thanks so much for the info! I currently have my CA cosmetology license. If I were to do housecalls in other states would I require licenses in those states?

Kyreek: So how do you handle the financial toll of traveling to clients in multiple states often ? And how do you handle the safety of doing so (being a woman and traveling alone) ? Any tips (for my wife).

Plamondon Works: Hi! I'm wondering about safety procedures when you go to a client's home? Maybe I'm a bit too into true crime but a part of me is worried about something going arry in someone's house haha

amber wood: I don’t know how it is state to state, but I live in Missouri, where most people booth rent. That is what I do. So I essentially work for myself, while renting a booth from a salon owner (landlord). That being said, in order to do so, in Missouri you are required to hold a business license with a Ficticious name statement in order to perform any service at that location, and CANNOT hold/rent a booth in any other salon. How does that work as a traveling stylist? Is there some sort of license you can get so that you may travel, aside from being licensed in any state you’re traveling to?

Princess Moon: If you aren’t renting out a salon hourly, how do you wash the client’s hair at their house?

Meighan Mobley: I’m interested in traveling hairstylist. How does that work

Amanda Tan: Hi Damali, to be a traveling hairstylist do you have to have insurance and how do you know it's safe to go to people's house that you never known them.

B L: Do you work for primarily black hair salons? I’m a hairstylist of 30 years and have nothing.....I jumped around, hate doing extensions and wigs...(obviously that’s where the money is) Starting over in San Antonio Texas with Toni&Guy.....but so far 80% are tourists! I’m trying to build a clientele.....I’m 50 now and bummed out.

Davisha Sanders: How did you decide to do your pricing for your travel ... did you keep close to your pricing or did you have to change it to accommodate your travel?

Carito R.: That's sounds awesome

The Hair Vixen TamikaJ LLC: I just started being a traveling stylist and I kinda like it more than being in the salon. There's a few things I have to rebrand etc to get more traffic to my booking site. And I make more money traveling. Would you consider mentoring or doing a paper back book to help people follow your paths through the journey. It would really help me it's like I know what I want but I can't put the steps together to accomplish what I want. Basically I need to move out of my own way... SORRY FOR THE TYPOS

Adrianne Monique: How did you build your clientele?

Alyssa Greenidge: Hi im just looking into becoming a traveling hairstylist/barber. I want to start off locally nj/nyc (i live in nj) i have no clientele yet. Any advice on how to get started? Build clientele? Any advice would be appreciated.

Marcia Smith: This is wonderful God bless you

Beatrice Brown-Humphery: I want to be a traveling stylist can you give me some tips

My Favorite Journey: I am curious if you had to have a LLC in order to be a travel hairstylist? I’m looking to be a travel stylist and it seems to be a gray area

Keicha Thompson: Im intrested licensed in 2 states but trying to get licesencedin atl and south carolina any suggestions?

missconceited2008: Hey, I am an upincoming wig maker, do you have any tips on wig making?

Destyona Thomas: I am fresh of cosmetology school I would love for you to get in touch with me and help me put a jump start on my career
