Specializing in a certain area will give you a really good start in your field! Perfect one thing now that will help you build a name and clientele to jumpstart your business! So put your thinking cap on and get specific on what it is you want to create in this industry for your amazing new clients!!

Hey, what's up guys, I am Leticia Michelle. Let me move this back, so it can focus okay, so um you watching location, Michelle TV - and I just wanted to talk this evening to my hairstylist, because I'm sitting here reading my inbox and most people want advice for starting out and advice for starting out, but Doing hair rebrand myself, someone who's great and its colors down, okay, um! So that's a message that I get a lot. So let's just answer it on camera. So if you're a new stylist - and you are really working hard right now - why now you it's like game time is that what you do now is critical, because you, you are branding yourself and people get so caught up in this whole branding and marketing thing, and It'S such a useless, useless, loosely used term because people wear it in the ground. They don't give you the true definition. A brand is how people perceive your business. Basically, there's a there's a bunch of technical definitions for marketing, but marketing is the way that you use media to acquire customers in and I'm giving you those definitions, because that's how it applies to what we do. So my brand attracts working the working businesswoman who likes to be sassy and jazzy um, who loves short, hairstyles, she's outgoing. She loves music. She loves to laugh and she has great energy and she's very positive. That'S my brand um! So you're not going to see me posting, you know: twerk videos, custom, videos, drank and video. You know, like you know, non diva like stuff because I service divas. So that's my brand. So right now it's very critical for you to be very cautious of what you're posting the Internet is everything search. People. Google is the largest search engine in the world and I don't have my stats in front of me, but there's a huge amount of people that search by the day, for certain words. So my biggest advice that I can give someone who is just starting out is to get specific, because the more specific you are, the quicker you'll be closer. You know being able to calculate and measure measure like your growth. When I moved to LA, I started my six-figure business over because I came here with zero clientele. I didn't have a plan to do hair, but then I thought what the hell, let me just you know you know, put some videos up and see what happens, because I knew that my method and Alex worked. I tested on people here in LA I already tested it on people in Dallas, so I know my method for YouTube works, so I played around with YouTube and Instagram and I have built a whole new clientele here in Los Angeles. But let me tell you how much quicker I did it, then I did in Dallas and Dallas that moves pretty fast, too from youtube. But here I did it in about six months and that's because I got very specific. I became the short hair specialist and it's not a secret, so some people like, oh, my god, why she saying that or somebody's going to copy or whatever. I don't worry myself with those things, because everybody who do who does everyone who does great things they're getting it they're getting inspired from somewhere, so whatever um, but it's also about who? Who did it first? So that's always an advantage. Anywho specialize yes, you're, going to be doing cuts in color or whatever, but be known for something a lot of times when you're known for color, depending on what type of color it brings a certain type of clientele. So if you're doing hot pinks and greens and blues i wouldnt mario czar, not the average people who are going to pay 3 and 400, you know dollars per service or whatever. So that's just you got to figure out what it is. What kind of money you want, what type of client you want to serve, get very specific? Where do they hang out? Where are they online? What stores do they go to? What is their conversation about? What'S the key thing about them that makes that affects you so, like my my ideal client, they need to get in and out the salon because they got to do so. You know I'm very good at getting people in and out of the salon and they come back because of that reason alone. So you know figure out who that woman is make a customer profile. Name her what she likes. You know I'll go the whole nine really dig into the research of who your ideal customer is and then create videos and create Instagram pictures and create blogs and create online media that serves that woman and talk about the benefits for the customer. Nobody gives a crap about you how long you've been doing here and all that kind of stuff like they may go. Oh that's cool, but they really want to know. Can you do my here and what's gon na happen when I come into your shop? What'S my experience gon na be like so you want to do things like create social proof which um. If you go, look at Lakeisha Michelle, Ginn book.com you'll see all those your views. I don't pay people to say that it's just social proof, people when you treat people good and you're positive and you educate the customer and you're there on time and you, you know, brush your teeth. You know you just look good, you just do the basics, they don't take much when you put forth an effort. People recognize that and then they become loyal customers when you serve them wholeheartedly. So when you're just starting out, I need you to pick a plan. Like figure out what it is you're going to focus on and if you feel like I don't know, if I want to do weaves, I don't know if I want to do short hair, I don't know if I want to do highlights. I don't know if I want to do ombre whatever it is just choose one thing and go at it hard for like giving 90 days and then in 90 days look backwards, figure out how many people have our service. What I've been the numbers from that who have not come back? Call those people who are coming back and ask: how could you better serve them work backwards and then the next 90 days, if you feel like okay, I completely hate doing ombre. Now, I'm going to focus on extensions work on that for 90 days, come up with a plan come up with a marketing plan. What the marketing plan sounds fancy, but it's literally just like how many YouTube videos a week. Are you going to put up? What are you going to title them? What are extension clients looking for they're, looking for the Kim Kardashian curl they're, looking for no lumps no hump, so in they're, looking for in-and-out appointment, they're looking for affordable virgin hair like you, you really have to get specific and work and just have goals and have Goals that you can measure so that you cannot just be aimlessly doing things and calling yourself a hairstylist, would you rather have a personal trainer, or would you have rather have a guru of abs trainer, like somebody who's, a personal trainer who calls themselves the Guru of Abs or just somebody who says I'm a personal trainer like this, is what your customers are thinking for me as a customer customer to these two options, I'm gon na go with the Guru bath because I'm obsessed with having some Janet Jackson abs, but I think it's The same concept with hairstylist, if you walk up to somebody and say oh, I do here they're kind of like oh great, but if you say I'm a short hair specialist, they're gon na be like okay, that's gon na ring a bell, so get really specific and Then start working on goals, I need you to get crazy hungry on your self development in your business development, because this is the time this is the you're setting the pack. What you do now determines what you're going to do a year from now. So if you're lazy, if you're negative, it's slow, so if you're just always trying to find a reason why you're not going to you know why something's not going to work, that's what you're going to be doing next year in the year after that. So you have to make a commitment to yourself um as to who it is you're going to serve and then go in like go in and in like go hard like post YouTube videos as much as you can go on Instagram and like figure out the hashtags. So like la hair, stylist short hair specialist, I don't know figure out your hashtag and then make sure that you're posting - you know Instagram once a day and giving clients benefits benefits. Are then looking at hairstyle inspirations benefits. Are you giving them hair tips benefits? Are you giving them positive? You know things to that impact their lives. The benefits are not, you know, features or things like I've been doing here and I'm this and I'm that quit talk about yourself. Nobody gives them like talk about what is in it for the customer, and I promise you that is what's going to attract them. If you look at my go, go to my youtube channel, all my customers love watching and do how to's. Oh, my god, I talked about this in my other video. How to's are amazing people think okay, she can do a how-to and she can do her hair like this. You probably could do my hair that good and videotape and take pictures of everything that you're doing and post, because when I tell you in the internet at the new marketplace for hairstylist, and you can make a lot of money people so starting out. Here'S what you're going to do! I need to make a video on goals, so I'm gon na do that because that's a whole nother subject on how to actually reach your goals, but you want to set for now. Just you know set set a goal. I want to have five new clients by the end of the month. You know create goals that are attainable and then work backwards. What will it take for you to get those goals so those five clients you're going to specialize? What are you going to specialize on? Literally put yourself in an hour box and just give myself okay, I got an hour to figure out what it is, I'm going to go full hard-on for the next 90 days. So it's going to be short here, engulf yourself and everything short here and every day talk about it every day. Do something that works towards advertising short hair in your city and try your best to perfect it and look into all the things that you can. That will help you perfect that skill and talk about that skill and advertise that skill and book that skill look up sales and booking clients, because, as a hair stylist starting out, you are in charge of marketing you're in charge. Your manager managing your schedule, your finances, your bookings, all of that so time management. I would focus on that. Oh it's just so much so I hope you take a note as I'm talking you can always rewind this, but yeah. It'S really just get specific, get specific and blast the hell out of what you're doing and then measure the results. So if you're posting Instagram, you know two times a day at the end of the week, figure out. Did that give you any type of return and the thing about Instagram? Let me give you tip just to be talking about Instagram. Well, I'm a good in the video cuz. It'S gon na be long, so I'll give I'll make that another video get specific figure out. What you want to focus on and then make a plan to be the bomb at it until everybody, you know on all forms of social media and make it not about you, make it about the customer. So no don't do a bunch of cheap specials. If anything give away something that doesn't cost you product, but it costs you time and it gives you an opportunity to show your skills so free hydration treatments, free haircuts. You know free Betty, Boop curls, you know with wind booking a shampoo and style service because you got to eat so and then a lot of times free attracts a certain type of customer. So you want to track quality, but you also want to give them value. So educate them on what a free hydration treatment does for their hair, then they'll book it see how that's about the client, it's not about you. You know book me now. You can't just post book me now like. Why should I book you give somebody a tip? Give somebody something and then ask for the sale all right. Let me know that was helpful. I feel like I need to get a whiteboard and start like for real teaching and giving you like downloadable stuff and really giving helpful stuff. So I'm work on that, but for now I just wanted to answer that question on camera and send it to her and I figured it would help somebody else on YouTube. So hope you guys have an amazing evening. 7:45. I'M sleepy I took my girlfriend off and I'm bout to like call it a night, maybe no sisters in town, so I may go out. Anywho focused specialized you'll, see your money. A lot quicker and you'll learn what you love and hate a lot quicker. The more specific you get, the more specific your money gets, the more specific your bank account grows. Trust me when I say it's true, so specialized chopper now,

Crown Body and Soul® LLC: Do you have any advice on how to take your clientele (request clients) with you from a corporate salon?
