Hey, ladies, is me the natural cold, your how to resource for natural hair, and today I want to talk to you about how to find a natural hair. Stylist. A few months ago, I posted a question on my Instagram and my facebook asking women. How often do they visit at your hairstylist and the responses were overwhelming face? Look at over a hundred comments, a lot of ladies said: they can't find us balance. They don't trust people who say their natural hair stylist, and they would just rather do their hair themselves at home, especially when it comes to get a trim, aren't cut. And, ladies, I know we like to do our and home trims an at-home snippet, but it's very important to have a routine to get routine trims our routine cuts. I experienced a lot of heartache in the beginning when I was searching for a natural hair stylist. So I want to share with you my 5 tips tip number one know your hair before you visit a natural hair stylist, it's very important to know you can know your porosity level, your curl pattern, your curl type know what type of products your hair likes and Also just know exactly how your hair responds to certain things, but that's really gon na help you, when looking for a natural hair, stylist step number two, I say in your research: you can do a Google search, Facebook Instagram. Those are always great options and you can use on a style C, which is an online scheduling website, where you can find a stylist in your area, and you can look at their work number three now you've done your research, but I would say research in them, Especially when it comes to Facebook and Instagram, so what do I mean when I say researching them? It depends on what type of hairstyle you're looking for. So let's say you want a tapered hairstyle and you have a picture. You know what you want. You, google search when I google search your Facebook search. Are you Instagram search, never have stylists in your area. What I would say is to look at the pictures. If you find a natural hair stylist in your area - and you sees most of their pictures - are up. Dudes or braid outs or twist outs - and you don't really see any tapers now, then that may not be the stylist for you, because tapered cuts may not be there specially okay. So if you are looking for a taper cut, you want to Alison specializes in paper. Cuts are better yet I would say, find a stylist who knows how to do a variety of things. So let's say you get a taper cut and in your hair decide you decide to grow your hair out and you want to updo know that stylist can do a tape-recorder up. Do a flat twist twist now brave Soviets, whatever you're looking for don't be like. I did in the beginning, it was six months into my journey and I had an afro what I wanted a tapered cut. So I did a google search and I found a lot of natural hair stylist here in the Dallas area. So what I did I just read the comments and people said it was like the salon. They were really pleased and I went in there. I showed her the picture. I told her what I wanted she could is she twisted me up and when I came home. Ladies, that was very disappointing because I didn't know my hair and I hadn't known my hair in depth. There'S some of the things that she was going to my hair. I could have told her. I don't really think that's a good idea, because I've tried this technique before and it didn't work another thing, because it's still number four. No, your curl pattern, we're gon na look back and take that back to step number one. Why do I say? No your curl pattern. This is what I mean. For example, when I wash my hair, my I'm high porosity, I'm in the 4c family, and I don't have like a lot of curl definition. I mostly have curl definition in the back here when my hair is wet. So, in order to get curls like this, I either have to do a flat twist artwork that I have to get my curls manipulate. So when I go to the salon, I always liked my hair blown out in the entry, so I can see the shape and I can make sure it's even now. I know some stylists say you don't have to have your hair blown out. They in this natural state, when it's wet, you know after they wash it, and I really don't agree with that. That'S what me at least that doesn't work for me. That'S how I got so many bad haircuts in the beginning, because I will let the stylist wash my hair and then she would go up receipt. Okay and when I got home, let's say and a couple of days, I did another twist out our flat twist. My hair was really uneven, so I say no your curl pattern, so you can really know the best way that your hair needs to be cut. Now I know the style is they are professional, they know what they're doing, but we live without hair every day and we know what I hair likes and what it does like. So, let's say, if you are in the to family, are three family think it may not be necessary for you to get your hair blown out. It could. But let's say you are your hair and washing those all the time and it's curly 99 % of the time. Then you may not need your hair blown out or cut, but for me in the 4c family, with very little curl definition when my hair is wet high porosity, which means my hair sucks up water, it mean it shrinks up. I like for my hair to be stretched, blown out cuts, so I can see the style the shape and I can make sure it's easy. Another thing, ladies tip number five. I think this is still number five yet tip number five. Let'S say you see someone out make the grocery store at the mall or somebody you follow on Facebook associate and they've got refresh cut that you like reach out to that person. Ask them who's the spouse that cut your hair. What did you like about this phallus? If you're concerned with getting your hair cut, wet or dry, ask that person did you get your hair cut, wet or dry? When I posted my picture a couple weeks ago of this new cut someone reached out to me - and I said Nicole, how did you get your hair cut? Was it blown out? I was away and I told him it was blown out. I was very, very serious about getting my hair blown out it. He could you know what let me tell you. Another story think it was sometime last year I've been here before I saw someone who had a really really good coat cut. I mean it was a super dope cut right and so I said, hey who did you go to whose salad? So she gave me that stylist information I called the stylist. I told her what I wanted and I told her before I went up there. I said: do you mind watching my hair blowing it out and then tripping it? She said no problem, so I decided the night before to go ahead and twist my hair and go into the salon with my hair I with my twist down so she could see these style that I like to wear my hair. So I go in I spit in the chair and she goes oh, I can just shape up your hair like this now, ladies, my good was telling me not to let her do it, but I trusted her. She was a stylist and I let her do it. She went in and she was pulling and snipping and shaped my hair up. It was amazing, so when I walked out of the salon you know you get a new haircut, it's mandatory to go somewhere, so everybody can see it. So I went around grocery shopping. I had to do a little shopping and I got a lot of compliments. So I came home and I was like wow a really good cut, but here's where it was not a good cut that night. When I got ready to twist my hair, it was it was, I don't know it is what it is. I had long pieces short pieces uneven pieces because she cut it like this, which means she was just pulling pieces of hair and shaping it up. I was so disappointed, I wasn't disappointed and necessarily the cut. I was disappointed because I didn't follow my today, because I know how my hair operates so the next morning I text her and I told her - you shaped my hair up beautifully because that made sense, but because my hair is not naturally curling. The way you couldn't did not work for me, so she told me I can come back in and she skills you know. I scheduled an appointment that same day I went back in and she fixed my hair, but ladies dummy, I was so upset with myself. So, ladies after that experience, I told myself Nicole next time you go to a new stylist you're gon na ask them: how do they like to cut you think, wet or dry, and that's exactly what I did the styles and I go to mail me soon. As I sat in the chair, I asked I said you like to cut wet or dry. She said: what's your preference I said dry because I like to see the shape and the cut of the hair. She says no problem, I can do I've been warns her every since and ladies, if I hadn't learned about my hair early on in the game, the porosity level, the texture really understood how my wrist hair responds to products and really being a thorough research. I wouldn't have so many man haircuts, so she trusts me in the beginning. I had so many bad haircuts. It felt like I was always getting a big chop. I swear, but now that's in the past and I'm on the road to success with getting haircuts and trims, so I hope this video helped, you be sure, don't like it and leave a comment. Let me know if these, what I share and share my story will help you on your journey to finding the perfect natural hair stylist, for you be sure to share this with anyone else that you know may be struggling.
