Hello beauty, superstars. This is Mickey right, I'm with Beauty, superstars calm and just wanted to share a little bit about my story. I actually started out and going to cosmetology school in in Houston, Texas, I'm originally from Michigan from the Detroit area, and I saw a lot of great things that were going on in the Washington DC area and just wanted to share a little bit about my experience. With getting started in the industry in the beauty industry, I actually took my test in Texas one day and I moved to DC the very next day, so I had no friends family clients or anything to build from. I took my time and kind of found this wonderful salon to work in and unfortunately I wasn't building up my clientele fast enough and I had to leave the industry, give up my dream, or so I thought at the time and go back and get a real Job, you know kind of quote unquote, so I left I went back to an office job. My salon owner was gracious enough to allow me to come in on the weekends and on Saturday on the week, evenings and Saturdays and just be able to do clients during that time, and so I figured you know it's like well as about a year I'll, be Back in the flood and I'll be able to, you know, be there full-time and not have to work in an office and in reality in actuality, I ended up being able to get back into the salon full-time in six months and never look back. I would have full clientele and was able to build and grow from there be able to pay my bills, because that was one of the challenges when I was struggling and it wasn't making enough to take care of all my expenses and all that kind of good Stuff, so I went took that you know detour back was able to get fully booked and I just wanted to share a little hope. You know if you're sitting behind a desk right now and wishing you were working in the salon. If you are in a salon but you're kind of struggling. You know you have the good week and the bad week or you've been in a little while getting frustrated wondering if you you know you should leave the industry. I talk to a lot of people like that, and I just want to give you a little hope that things can change. Things can be different and it doesn't have to take forever. It doesn't have to take you years to be able to grow. You know a thriving client town and be able to be fully self-supporting. So a couple of the things that I attribute that to one there's, a classic book, called Think and Grow Rich, and I read that book and I actually spent a lot of my time. You know when I was in the office, I would do my work and when I finish my workout go back to kind of jotting things down a big journal person. You know writing things down and somehow, when I write things down and kind of attaches in my brain, whether it reread it or not, so I write down you know how many clients I might need to do want to do and what services they might get and How much they might spend and what it would take for me to be in there full time. So I really immersed myself in you know what that would look like feel like sound like well like taste like and really getting it in. My in my consciousness - I guess you could say second thing is I realized that it would be much better if people came in and asked for me by name like with branding. I guess is the you know the buzzword right now, but really making it so that people wanted to come in and want it for me to do they're here in particular, rather than just waiting around for walk-ins, because that was a slow way to do it. And so you know learning more about marketing and getting myself out there. I'M kind of shy by Nature, so just devising ways that work with my personality and would allow people to more come to me versus me. Trying to you know, drag them in kind of so marketing and branding definitely key things for me and the third thing that I wanted to share that I think, is key and I really feel like it's a missing piece of. What'S you know what I'm seeing out there salon business coach and talked to lots of stylists all over the country, and you know throughout the years, have talked with lots of stylists along the way. So just one of the things you know: if, like we get a little bit of the marketing piece, maybe it's working - maybe it's not working so well, but marketing it can be a little challenging. It can be difficult, it can be time-consuming, it could be expensive at times. You know, depending on what you're doing, and so one of the main keys was dinner. I realized that it was much easier for me to do the clients that I had already to keep those clients and keep them coming back on a regular basis than it was to keep finding new clients. I used to tell my stylist basically have two choices. You can either do everyone in the city once or you can find a small group of people who want to come to you and build a strong, solid clientele, and the latter was exactly what I wanted to do, and so I hope some of this has been Helpful, maybe you know give you a little brain shift, a little mind shift or a few things that you can think of. Think on. I'Ve got some. You know upcoming classes and training and things that I'm doing and really excited about. You know just being able to share more about marketing, about branding yourself and about keeping your clients. Clients, for life is what I call it, so I can be of service in any way, shape or form. Please let me know again: my name is Mickey Wright and with beauty Superstars calm and I do look forward to hearing your success story. Take great care.
