Hey y'all, so this is curly q star, and this is part two of my interview with my natural and curly hair stylist Kiana Tillman. If you happen to miss part 1, i'm going to make sure I put that in the description box below. So you can check that out and yeah. So here's part 2, i'm going to ask you about heat styling because i am like I haven't. Had my hair heat styled since I went to start this whole going natural process 18 months ago, and I am like completely freaked out about having my hair, blow-dried or flat ironed. And so, if you want to talk a little bit about that and how you can avoid having heat damage, because that's what scares as curlies the most is like, I don't want my hair to be altered. If I decide, I want to work straight occasionally right. Well, the great thing about curly hairs: we do have the option to do both. We can actually wear it, curly natural or we can straighten the hair, but I feel like, if you're wearing your hair, ninety percent natural, washing gold, twist outs and you want to straighten your hair, maybe for a day or an event. You need to make sure your hair is deep conditioned to the T I would dependent on the texture of your hair. A lot of times more coarse or textures tend to be a little bit more dry. I would stay away from high heat, so I would maybe roller set the hair um. You know not or maybe take the hair section by section and give it a nice blow dry. That again, you need to seek a professional. I feel like you should stay away from really high heat, though, because that's when you can acquire heat them right. I know AJ case once yeah. It just takes one time and if that heat is too high, it'll damage the hair right. So I'm saying to the hair doesn't have to be bone straight again. If you want bone straight hair put a wig on because in the end your hair's gon na pay. Ah - and you don't want you know - you want to wash their hair and you're like wise. One side, my curling in the other side, you know it's straight, medical yeah so just make sure the hair deep conditioned, and you know you just care for the hair before you actually go into straightening. I'M not saying don't do it. I just feel like whoever is the professional who it's going to do. The straightening process just make sure your hair is deep conditioned even maybe a week prior before you decide to go in and get your hair straightened at the right on. You can care for yourself at home and write, or you know just prep it, and have it ready to be straightened right. You know just what roller sets always work. I think roller sets are a great look as well. You can maybe braids down the hair, and then you know have the stylist straight in it. That way, you know, take it right over the curl right, just be careful with the heat temperature heat temperature is key. You don't want to run over this ain't piece over and over again right. That'S so you have really thick full court. You know full hair, don't get it bone straight, just don't get it bone straight. Right, never know make sure you get bangs. Cuz bangs always make it look natural. So right, true, yes, okay, so I have another question: do you offer for anybody who's watching? That is, wants a relaxer or is interested, maybe somebody who doesn't wear their hair curly most time. Maybe they wear their natural, but they choose to section straighten their hair. Well, not texture, but yeah, texturize and or you know, get it like. I used to get my hair pressed every other week like somebody who wants to do that, and you know be natural. That way, do you offer those services as well? Well, I, if you come in to me, you're not going to get that bone straight flat hair, but I can make it pretty straight and again before I do straighten your hair. If you are wearing it natural, I will make sure I deep condition it before uh-huh, I you know, do the service and, yes, I do offer bars relaxers and texture risers. I actually do sexualizes as well. The way I do most of my clients who get texturizer'he's just want to loosen a curl, I'm not your girl. If you want to relax her to make the hair bone straight, I think that ruins the hair anyway, you lose the porosity and the hair becomes dead. Women, if you're, relaxing your hair and you have seeped through ends, cut it off. Please I mean no, i'm not saying cut it off. I'M saying me enough with the relaxers just let your hair kind of girl, you know healthy and natural, because if you have see-through ends, that means your hair has been over processed mhm and you don't want to put any more chemical in those ends. If you do have, you know see-through ends right for me when I texturizer here, I just you know, leave it on for about eight to ten minutes, and I actually do the back of the hair first. Let it process time it rinse it and then do the front separate. I don't put it all on ahead at one time, because i'm actually watching the curl pattern as well and most of my girls who get texturizer come in every five to six months. I mean that I, oh no, that's good yeah. I was that's all you would need, but if your transition, if you're those girls who previously had relaxers and may be acquired damage from a relaxer, then - and you know, you're - trying to go natural - you might have this Tiger at the ends and these loose curls at The ends um, I actually like bantu knots. I think bantu knot. Turkel are super cute for that girl pattern. What kind of profit the curly hair but um, I just say, stay away from you know texturizer. If you do have really weekends Brett, yeah yeah. I think you know everybody can create their create, healthier hair. You know, even if your hair is relaxed or texturizer, whatever you know like you said you can go less often because when I was wearing a relaxer, I was going every six to eight weeks. Yeah and that's, I can't believe I had any hair on my head at all. I mean I like um. You call me for a point. I'M abby lane it's not time yet. I know right and that's. The thing is that that was that was the culture. That'S what we were used to it. I just went you know you saw like a half inch of new growth in it. Oh yeah yeah, and it's just really. I don't remember if I had hair often should somebody get their hair cut, they're wearing your hair, natural curly. You know. How often would you recommend that they come in to have a stylist cut their hair, because you know we're so used to not doing our own hair, what's figuring out ourselves and on a regular basis? But you know, I know that we do need to come in and have somebody like assess our hair and all that. So how often would you recommend a haircut I mean I was anywhere from. Maybe three to four months really depends on the style. Excuse me, the style you get, I do have client to you, know, get the Bob load, the a-line and some time that a line grows out and they want that shape. They want to keep up that shape, but with the dry hair cut, you only really need to come in three to four months. Some sooner it really depends because some people here just grow a lot longer. You know in a month period of time, like you have people here who growing into you know half an inch to an inch of months, so they may need to come in sooner. But there are people, you know who hair grows really quickly and and there's others who might not want the length of their hair and they like to keep it a certain way or certain length. So they may come in sooner. But I say anywhere three to four months would be a good time to kind of come in and you know make sure your ends are clean and bright. Is there anything else that you'd like to share with my viewers that are watching um kids just encourage your kids to embrace their natural hair? Again, I come from a family makes race. When my mother told me encourage my hair, never made me feel like it was a hassle to deal with. It was more of myself who didn't really appreciate my hair. Until I had a certain age - and I was like well, I really do have mom huh, but just continue to encourage your kids to wear the natural hair. I have two daughters who are encouraged to wear the natural hair in middle school and elementary. They have the biggest hair ever. I think it's great, they love it. I love it, but when they see they mother loved it and their father, they will love the hair. If you have that mother who's, I can't deal with your hair, is too much hair. I mean that's not encouraging your child to embrace your natural hair. So Brett, you know just encourage your kids to wear their hair natural yeah. That'S good! That'S good advice! I only have a son, so i don't quite get the same experience but hey i have. I have got high as I client you, too, okay, curly hair. You know they are all about their curly hair. Believe in a lot I have men who come in and I'm very particular about their curls, because they really the same experience of not getting a proper haircut. You know having curly hair, they would go to a barber and they would use you know clippers or you know, thinning shears or oh, oh yeah. You know, I do have guys as well who's. You know they require good. You know hairstylist to give them a great haircut as well, but guys are they're in tune to know they'll, be surprised, I'm very in tune with their curly hair, but we'll see i'm interested because now my son's used to my hair pink early, so he's like once Its hair big, which is why you know my husband, cuts his hair, so he's been like letting it grow. It'S like getting so big now and he loves it. I mean men, especially I think hold on. I mean you know this is hereditary and it runs in the family. But if you have hair wear it out, let it you know, be free, let it grow, especially the boys. I think they're so keep my nephew's er. Also, you know curly guys, and sometimes they tend to take it a little short. I think they look adorable with curly hair but they're on the East Coast, and you know my sister-in-law's like well. If you was hair, then I would let it go curly. My honey look super cute, a little curlicues, but they end up cutting it off, but right, yeah boy, sometimes two sometimes I do cut it and I heard your kids to whip my hair curly. I think it's a good thing into the look, and you know there's various styles. You can also do with kids here just like with you know, however, as well so right, yeah. Well, thank you so much for coming, I'm gon na be talking to us. I'M so excited and - and i can't wait actually you're gon na cut my hair and a little bit in a couple wait next month. So i'm excited to get my hair. We shaped so again. You guys, can you know www Keanu, tell me calm or bookends at Keanu, Tillman calm or you can also you know, call me 818. 415. 1983 call text. Leave me a message i will give back to you and the name of the salon is salami public and things came for having me and hi all youtubers uh-huh. Are you now two girls out there? I know right the natural curly and alive because it wasn't always you know we're gon na. Do you know example base? What'S the lawn, you want to get your hair done, it's like less straight in it. That'S always the first option, because it's easier right, but in the end you don't want to be stuck with that. One look from a chemical service. You know right embrace your hair. I love your hair bu at the end of the day. Just be you, that's how I you know just be you right. Thank you so much. Thank you, okay, so i hope you enjoyed the interview with keanu. If you happen to be in the Southern California area or you live out here, and you would like to have her do you're here for you I'm going to make sure I put all of her information in the description box below so make sure you check that Out or if you have any questions for her, that may be something I didn't ask that you want answered. Definitely she would love to help you out with that as well. She really, I trust her with my hair, completely she's cut my hair two times now and she's going to do it. I'M never gon na. Have anybody else cut my hair because you know his curlies. We want a curly expert to cut our hair or to color our hair, somebody who knows how to deal with it and um she's, pretty much it for me. I don't trust anybody else um. So what I'm actually going to do? Two, for you guys, is on April seventeenth, I'm going to have her cut. My hair and she's agreed to let me film it so my girlfriend and youtuber fellow youtuber, makeup and beauty junkie has agreed to film it for me, so we're gon na have a blast. Doing that so you'll get to see a whole process from beginning to end and um yeah. That should be good, so I'm excited about that. That'S coming up soon, but she's. She actually cut makeup. You puny, junkies, hair and Papa three or four other of my friends. Hair she's caught when my girlfriend's got a big chop and she's done a couple of my friends got through her color. That should be up, and I guess that's it. I will catch up with you guys on the next video bye

CurlyKimmyStar: @Skyduchess I know, me too! After transitioning from heat damaged ends to completely curly, I DO NOT want to go through that again! So, heat totally scares me. I will probably go with the roller set option when I decide to rock straight hair. Thanks for watching!!

Cherish Me Beautiful: Great video, I am almost ready for a cut. Definitely going to give her a call, cause I have the "steps" she was talking about. Have a great day!

Sue: "If you want bone straight hair, put a wig on." True words!

Mayousse: Had to give these videos a thumbs up. It was well done & very informative. I have yet to find someone in Los Angeles that can give me good results. They either cut too much or damage my hair. I'm going to try Keyonna out. This is the kind of hairstylist I've been looking for. Thank you soooooo much for this much needed video.

Shemsa08: great stylist and she is gorgeous love her curls :)

djsugah: she really gave some great advise, u r lucky to have found her as ur stylist!

CurlyKimmyStar: @missfoxxy25 I agree, she is amazing! Thanks so much for watching! XO

bellanatural01: You asked really awsome questions in both vids, very informative. i really enjoyed watching them :)

CurlyKimmyStar: @bellanatural01 Thanks so much! I have never done an interview before, so I appreciate your comment! :-)

Veronica Taylor: Great video. Once again truly enjoyed. Thanks. Have a great day!!!!!

CurlyKimmyStar: @A2Sue I know, that was funny. But I completely agree! A wig gives you versatility without you having to worry about damaging your hair. Plus, you can do a light blow dry and wrap it at night with some silicone (my fav is Morrocan oil when I was wearing my hair straight) and you can get it pretty straight. Good enough, anyway! :-)

CurlyKimmyStar: @djsugah Thanks so much! Yes, I am so lucky! She is a great resource for naturals. Thanks for your comment! XO

CurlyKimmyStar: @marie2214 WOW! Thanks so much for your comment! Glad you enjoyed it. You will LOVE Keyonna! She NEVER cuts too much. Both times she cut my hair she cut just enough. Which is why I will not trust anyone else! :). Let me know how your appointment goes! XO

CurlyKimmyStar: @lipstickloveaffair I have! She loves the DevaCurl One and No Poo, plus she's loving the dermorganic shampoo conditioner and mask. Moroccanoil Curl Defining creme, or the intense curl cream. :-)

CurlyKimmyStar: @MissEddiecation Not as of yet. She does not have a steamer at her new place yet. However, she does put you in a plastic cap under a dryer which gives you a great deep conditioning treatment. Thanks for watching and for your comment! :-)

citygurl0105: im goof on letting someone else straighten my hair. 2 passes is all i need

CurlyKimmyStar: @Shemsa08 I know, aren't they amazing! I would LOVE to have that color! FAB!

CurlyKimmyStar: Thanks! You'll love her! :-)

CurlyKimmyStar: I totally understand! Thanks for your comment! :-)

CurlyKimmyStar: Yes, it is! :-) Give her a call!

CurlyKimmyStar: @OnicaTaylor Thanks so much! You, too! XOXO

Anna Wright: She is awesome id trust her with my hair too bad im not in the area...

vermilla1: is that her real hair, I want that exact same color

CurlyKimmyStar: Go to mydevacurl website, if you put in your area, I bet they have a local person near you that has been trained in the devacut. Or try naturallycurly's website, they also have stylists listed there as well, by area. Good luck! :-)

CurlyKimmyStar: I'm sorry to hear that. :-(

Skyduchess: Thanks. I a scared of heat.
