How I cut my own hair into a lob : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUN7Wm...

Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed this video and found it helpful! I had thought that the process might be too simple to make an entire video out of, but some of y'all requested it, so I figured why not! Also, I noticed that all the heatless waves tutorials seem to be designed for long hair, so I'll always take a chance to look out for my lob/short haired gals :)

Hey guys, it's ashli thanks for tuning in today, I'm going to be showing you how I do my hair, like this, with some just loose effortless waves with no heat whatsoever. No, this isn't one of those tutorials where I resort to curling my hair. At the end. To touch things up, it's completely a huge frame, so I hope you guys enjoy and let's get into the tutorial, hey guys. So here I am kind of in my natural nighttime state. I have glasses no makeup and, of course, my sheep shirt, but the sheep is made out of yarns and that cute anyways night time is always when I start out my hair routine. I took a shower about an hour ago and I just let my hair air dry. My hair is naturally straight, so this is how it normally looks. So basically, this part is pretty simple. All I'm going to do is put my hair into two Dutch braids. I'D. Only part, my hair at the side like this, but I'm actually going to parted in the middle. While I do my braids, that's because when I flip my hair, that's been parted. This way, back over to the other side, it's going to have a lot of natural volume at the root from setting in the opposite direction. So a Dutch braid is just like a French braid, except it's just passing each section underneath the middle section. Instead of over it, oh and I forgot to say, while you're doing this, it's really important that your hair is completely dry or like 98 % dry, because if your hair is to it at this point, no matter how long you wait, it's just never ever gon Na dry, so I'm approaching the bottom. If your hair is a little bit shorter than mine, you might actually not be able to braid these back fits up into the braid, because they're too short, that's totally fine, because these top layers of wavy hair are going to cover any straight layers like that. You have at the bottom, but since my hair is a little bit longer, I'm going to continue to add in as much hair as possible, since my hair is pretty thick and I roll around a lot in my sleep, these thick elastics are best for my hair. I don't really notice that big of a crease, but if your hair is fine, airy and it creases more easily, then you could use a little clear elastic as well, and I'm just going to repeat the process to the others. Out of my head. Oh and the reason that I'm doing a Dutch braid instead of a French braid, is that it allows the hair to be twisted a lot closer to the root which gives you more volume and better waves. All right. So now we're nearly finished on what I like to do just to make sure my hair gets more of like a loose wave. Then a really tight, braided crimp um is to go ahead and massage and loosen up the braids, but actually come a little bit more loose and throughout the night, but I like to get the process started now just so. My waves won't end up to crimp me. After my braids are all done now, I'm going to add some moisture to my hair to really set in the waves. So I'm going to be using this homemade sea salt spray that I made in my leftover. Leave-In conditioner bottle it's just a combination of water, salt, pomade and leave-in conditioner. I like to use this because it naturally adds a little bit more texture and hold to my hair. But if you don't feel like making your own or buying a sea salt spray, then you can totally just put water in a spray bottle and straight on your head. So I did about ten spritzes on each braid, so make sure you're feeling your hair as you spritz on the salt water spray, just to make sure that you don't overdo it and that it will eventually dry and don't forget to get this section. The opposite side of the braid as well use clip of the braids close up, as you can tell they're pretty much a total mess, but it totally doesn't matter at this point. I just always go to sweep because it gives my hair a lot of hours to set, and these braids are actually really comfortable to sleep in there's, nothing poking at your head or anything. But if you don't have anything to do throughout your afternoon, you can always do these in the morning um and then just walk around the house and let them set if you've got a little bit more neat way. You can probably even run errands or go to school, but as for me, I'm off to bed so I'll see you tomorrow a good morning guys. So now my hair is all dry. I just left it in the crate. While I did my makeup and chain my outfit, but now it's time to the moment of truth, taking out the braids, I'm just going to take up the hair tie and then unravel them gently off yeah. I don't rip them apart too much. Otherwise, the waves might be destroyed. So now I'm going to change my part back from the middle over to the side like i normally wear it. So if you want to, you could totally leave it like this, but I'm going to use a couple products just to finish: styling my hair. First, I'm going to go in with a finishing paste, um just to tame down the frizz and add some hold and kind of be able to hold my hair a little bit more. So there really isn't any scientific method here, I'm just scrunching the waves, where ever I want them to be a little bit more than mine. Sometimes I would just stop here there, because the braiding worked out a little bit better and left me with a better wave over here, but sometimes a little picky about this section. And I really like the wave framing my face to be a little bit more defined. So you have two options: if you want to touch up your curls. First of all, you could just use a curling iron, which I use when I'm in a hurry. But since the title of this video does state that this tutorial is heatless, I'm going to show you another method. I just have these hair styling clips from Sally's Beauty Supply, but they also sell them at Target and a bunch of places online. So I'm just going to take the front section over here and twist it around two fingers and it's line off my fingers and secure it with one of these clips. If you want, you can do it to a couple other sections here as well, since I have another clip on hand I'll just wind up section, since my hair is a bit stubborn to waves, I'm just going to spread some hairspray over these real quick. If you don't like the feeling of hairspray or if you don't have any of this step is totally optional, alright and now I'm just going to let this set for around five minutes. While I go eat breakfast alright. So now I'm back and it's time to take out little pin curls sections there we go so now it's a little bit more waved at the front and a little bit more defined in football. Now I'm going to model awkwardly for a couple seconds for you, and this is pretty much the finished look. I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial if you did don't forget to give the thumbs up comment down below if you try it out yourself and subscribe to my channel for new videos every week.
