How To: High Bun Updo - Wedding, Bridesmaid, Prom, Special Occasion Hairstyle

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to do a high bun updo that would be a great hairstyle to wear for your wedding, if you're a bridesmaid, if you're going to prom, or really any special occasion (or any excuse to get fancy!).This hairstyle is going to work best for medium & long hair. If your hair is shorter or longer than mine then you may have to tweak it a little bit. I hope you like this hairstyle. Please don't forget to like, subscribe, and leave a comment. XOXO!

Hey guys so for today's hairstyle, i wanted to do a high bun, updo type, hairstyle perfect for weddings special occasions. That kind of thing i want to start doing more wedding, updo, hairstyles, bridesmaids um, so be on the lookout for those. If you hear a bunch of noises, grunting squealing, that is my one month old, he is right next to me, i'll show you but yeah, let's go ahead and get started. So first thing i want to do is just go on with some volumizing dry shampoo got this from target, and i'm just going to spray that in i can't find my comb. So i'm just going to use this really dirty brush and just do a little bit of teasing. So what you're going to do is you're going to create four ponytails. So here's my first two, so your hair should end up looking like this. So what you want to do is take your top left ponytail and your bottom right, ponytail and you're. Just gon na do a knot like you were tying a shoe. So a simple basic knot: once you do that knot make sure you tie it tight and then i'm just clipping the front strand and then just place a bobby pin right in the center of that knot. Now you're going to take your other two strands. So your upper right strand bottom left strand and you're just going to do the same thing, so tie a tight knot right over that first knot and then just put a bobby pin right in the middle of the knot. So now i'm taking the clip out from the front section and then i'm just going to take my two most left pieces and i'm going to do another knot so because my hair is long, i'm doing another knot. If your hair is short, you may just skip this step and do the next step, but i'm doing a knot and i'm just going to place a bobby pin right in the middle of that knot. Now, moving over to the right side of our head with those two right pieces, we're going to do the same thing so just do another knot, tie it tight, put a bobby pin right in the middle of that knot. So it looks something like this. It looks a little crazy now, i'm just taking those two right pieces and i'm twisting them over each other, so just creating a twist all the way down once you've created that twist, just pinch and pull it. So now i'm going to take that twist and bring it towards the front of my head and i'm going to bring it under that ponytail. We created in the beginning and just wrap it around so that it covers that clear elastic and then i'm just going to bobby pin it into place now do the same thing with the other two strands on the other side of your head, you can see one Section is smaller, so i'm just going to grab a section of hair from the other side. Add it in and then do a twist all the way down and then same thing just pinching and pulling and then once you do that you want to bring it around. The bottom of that bun and just bring it across to the other side and bobby, pin it into place once you do that, then you just want to take the excess hair, wrap it around your finger and then bobby, pin it and actually what i ended up Doing was pushing it up under the bun, so i fixed that a little later but yeah learn from my mistake. Then the most important part of the hairstyle is going around and pinching and pulling all these little loops that you see. We want these to be nice and big and fluffy. So once you do that to your bun, then do the same thing to the front, just pinch and pull, and you can see my postpartum hairs it. My hair is so crazy right now it's frizzy it's breaking! I'M losing it so just kind of ignore all these little flyaways, but just pinch and pull all around your head to give it some volume. And then, although some of my hair is broken from where it's regrowing, i am just going to kind of try to pull out some hair to frame my face. I always pull out hair, but you could definitely leave it slick back for a sleeker look and then just one more time, i'm going back and i'm pinching and pulling some of the bun making it nice and big - and i just do this until i'm happy with It and then for some of the hair, that's hanging down the back. I just added a clip, but here's what it looks like from the front and then i'm going to show you what it looks like from the back. So this is what it ended up. Looking like on my length of hair again, you might have to kind of tweak it according to your hair and your length, but i really like this: it's perfect for so many different occasions. It'S just a really beautiful bun. You can keep it up high or you can put it down and make it a nice low bun. So that is it you guys this is a hairstyle. I love it. It'S romantic! It'S elegant, it's beautiful! You can wear it for so many different occasions. Let me know what you think in the comments below and let me know what other type of updos you would like to see. Do you like braided ones, do you like high bun ones, low, bun, easy ones? Let me know, but don't forget to like subscribe, leave a comment, and i will see you guys in my next one thanks for watching bye.

Samantha Chung: Love this hair bun. The finished bun looks sophisticated but you broke it down to make it easy for us. Thank you for sharing. Knox looks so cute. I'd like to see easy, braided or not, low buns, hair styles for health care workers. Anything that is easy and takes a few minutes to create in the mornings, takes layered hair off my face, but low so that I won't get headache from full day shifts. You are awesome!

Debbie Gines: Thank you for sharing your many talents with all of us Lainey! You’re amazing!! I’d love anything you show us. Blondie 777: You look beautiful!!

Claire Mackenzie: Thankk u so much my mom is getting married and letting me do this on her hair your the best

Kathy O: When we're pregnant our hair goes into a growth and "resting" phase. Most people lose about 100 hairs a day, but we shed less during pregnancy. So technically your hair isn't breaking off, you're just shedding those hairs your scalp held onto to for nine months. That's why when we're pregnant our hair has never looked better. Keep taking your prenatals as they'll help while your hormones get back to their new normal. I'm perimenopausal and the hormone flux is creating new but similar issues, another reason why I stopped dyeing my hair two years ago (which also stopped hair breakage and increased the baby hairs who decided to grow back chemical free). Great style!

Natalie NewS: Could you please share what color/brand exactly is your hair dye? Its exactly the color I want its gorgeous!

Jayne Smith: For heatless curls i have started this it works for me love to know who else it works for. Wash your hair brush it then i put mouse in doesn't matter where you have your part in in fact if you have your part in on side like me you have great volume. I part it roughly in middle then clear bands make 2 ponytails high then just plat one then other clear bands end of each one leave overnight. Between washes plat than spray with water do same .let me know xxxxxxx

Kemberly Dowdy: My hair is about the same length as yours, but it's so much thinner. How can I make it work?! I love your styles!

Brie B: So pretty!

Terry H: BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Lillian: Thank you!! :)

hollyhock526: Thanks seems simple!
