Hey everyone Kaylee your friendly neighborhood, hair stylist. Here with my short hair today, I want to dive deep on how to get really great insta waves, I'm going to show it to you on short, hair and long hair. So, no matter what you can see, how it will look and I'm going to give you a few different options for how to wear this weighting method. So if you guys watched my last video, you probably saw that my hair went through just so much so instead of using my hair for the long hair today, I'm gon na use my sister, hello wow. You look so tan and I look so marshmallow, I'm using Hailey's PR shout out loving tan, so first things. First, you need to get comfortable with clipping your iron onto your hair, wrapping it up and doing the slide and wrap thing so you're, basically starting from your roots and going to your ends. I recommend, if you've never done that before start practicing with a cold iron. So there's no danger and no like viral hair video making once you're comfortable with that, then the magic of this method it comes into play now. I'Ve used this in a couple videos, but we are diving into it. This time, still working with a cold iron for safety, basically you're going to turn the iron to point towards your head and then slide out the curls so that your hair is now straight and there's just a little bit left clipped into the iron. And then you just slide the iron over the ends, which either gives you a kind of straight and or a slightly curled and depending on how you hold the iron. If you want straight ends, you're going to kind of treat your curling iron like a straightener and you're just going to keep it like it's gliding over the hair, like you would with a straightener. If you want slightly curled ends your ways to turn it slightly and then slide it through that way. You get that slight Bend and if you find that you accidentally end up with like super straight ends, and it looks a little jarring, you can always just do that slight little Bend and it just kind of takes the edge off a little bit. So there you go, there's the general idea, but I want to give you guys a couple different ways you can use it to get either kind of a barely-there cool girl bend or a more beachy instagraming wavey moment. So first, let's start with the barely there bend. First thing: you're gon na do is section your hair for this one you're, literally only going to wrap your hair around the iron once so it makes one 360 and then you're going to duck and slide the iron right back out. Like basically me at a party. It'S duck it's lighting and with Anna's super long hair. We'Re gon na do a couple little curls because I feel like just one would look like an accident, but on short hair, depending on how long it is you can either curl once in the middle or you can curl at each one-third point. So one-third of the way at the top and then two-thirds at the bottom. Now after you slide, you actually want to bring your iron back up to vertical that way. If you're going to curl again it's easy to curl again and if you're going over the ends, it gives you more control as to whether you want straight or slightly bent. It almost makes you feel like you're traveling too far, when you're sliding it. But literally the point is just to put the bed where you want it. You know what another good trick is. I know that this is back here so that it's not like getting in the way. But if you keep it here, then you can reach up here and you can reach your roots better, because if your hair's over here then literally you're missing four to five inches of hair and now you can go ahead and drop down. Your next section of hair, and then you just continue through the sections doing that same method, we're curling all the hair away from the face, because I feel like that's what I'm seeing on Instagram right now. But if you ever want a more textured, almost natural. Looking wave, you can alternate directions on the curls. I like what you're doing now, because you're starting from the back so that you're able to put the stuff behind you but you're, still able to get to the roots and let down the last section and finish off your girls. Then, whenever you're, judging throughout the day, resist the urge to like do this number and like pull these pieces back this 2010 2019, you pull for the back these come forward. This comes out. That'S how you pose for your Instagram and there's the barely there Bend. It'S a very cool girl, kind of hairstyle that can give you just enough volume and just enough sleekness. So that's the barely there bend now. Let'S talk about how we can get waves on waves on waves and for that I'm actually bo3 curling, the short hair and Anna's long hair. Before you do that, I recommend spraying something moisturizing like the Kristin s dry conditioning spray, it's good anytime! You have to recrawl your hair cuz. It gives your hair at the moisture and the protection that it needs in that situation. We'Re gon na start up again by sectioning the hair. The next end of the spectrum, from what we were just doing, is to wrap all of your hair around the iron and then slide out just on the ends. That way, you get all the curl in there and then, when you pull it out, it relaxes the curl just a little bit to turn it into more of a wave, and you get that kind of straighter slightly curled end. If you want to get fancy, you can play around with any options in between they're like wrapping it twice before sliding wrapping it three times. The first light I mean get as creative as you want girl, but these are the two extremes of the options. If you lose your place, you can go back in right on the ends and then get them. The way that you want them to. You could focus on getting a little closer to the root on these, because I think it's good on the barely-there waves to hardly get close to the root at all. But on these you want it to look perky everywhere, instead of just in one place and keep going through your sections. This one is particularly good to leave like a smaller section up top that way, you can get those tight, pretty little curls on top and take a little bit less time in the middle now, just like down the last section to finish off this method. Now, for this section, you really want to focus on getting in close to the root, so you get a really pretty perky voluminous curl from the roots, and I finished Anna's hair off by adding a bit of pomade for definition and then spraying in a light hold Hairspray and scrunching to hold the style and augment the waves just a little bit more, and that is our more wavy look. I love this one for summer. It'S also a great base for a braided hair style, it's very, very, pretty and obviously pretty easy to do and those are the Instagram waves. I very much enjoy it, especially with summer coming up. Oh my gosh. These would be great. I mean this for a beach day. This for a brunch I mean perfect um, also Vic shoutouts Anna. She is working with me on my channel, which is why she's like, basically always in my bloopers and she's, basically talking to herself yeah. It'S me big. Thank you to her and just like welcome to the team she's killing it, and I was so grateful for her. This was like full-on hazing. Putting me in front of camera today, you're welcome. Now I see what she goes through now. She knows this stuff guys. Anyway, that's today's video. It'S not plugged into anything it's not how electricity works. I don't know there's like a warming. I feel like you're, not very good at warnings, though I am not much more of a do. It first seek emergency care, later kind of a person.

natalie tucker: the opportunity for tips that comes with teaching a non-hairstylist is awesome!! i love the idea of doing styles on your sister and teaching her how to do them at the same time. also, i really appreciate that you do so much to make sure you're showing people how to adapt your styles for shorter hair. i have shoulder-length hair myself, so while i love watching your long hair videos for fun, i can't do a lot of the styles-- so i really appreciate this!! you look so cute in that shirt by the way!!

Ellen Osborne: Kayley, you have just come alive in your videos in the last few months. You just seem so much lighter. You and your sister are an ADORABLE DUO! Love these methods for waves!!

Raeley Barchers: Tbh, I LOVE how you used Ana! You gave her tips that we would probably need. And you let her do it, just with a little help from you.

Mia Clément: Major shout-out to your sister for being in front of the camera this time instead of behind. I love the interaction between the two of you and how you both show the technique on her hair as well as we see her recreating the look on herself I'd love to see more videos like this one

Mary Gates: I LOVE how your sister curls her hair following your guidance! It makes me feel like I can do this too even though I’m not a friendly neighbourhood hairstylist ☺️

Chris H: I no longer heat style my hair (well, maybe once or twice a year) but I still loved this video! Love seeing you and Anna work together, love seeing you help and correct her as she learned the techniques, and love seeing you two joke around together! (Also, good genes definitely abound in your family, you’re both so gorgeous)

Amber Gerrard: LOVED having your sister in this video, was really helpful to see you do her hair and her having a go herself and you giving tips and tricks thanks ladies

Allie: I love the way these curls came out and the way you edited this video! Can’t wait to try these curls out today

Sadie Albin: She is beauty She is grace She make hairstyles fun and great!

Morgan Langton: I love that your videos are so informative and have truly usable tips rather than “”hacks”” that don’t usually work Love your vids Kayley!

Ojreader: Love the tutorial! Thank you for putting so much joy into the world!

Michelle Byrd: I LOVE that your sister is in this video: I have totally been curling my hair and missing the first few inches near the root and I didn’t know why I wasn’t getting the look I wanted!! ‍♀️

Xandra: This is such a game changer I couldn’t figure out how my hair stylist styled my hair with all the curling iron flipping but I forgot to ask when I recently got it done. I had a feeling you would have a tutorial on this and I’m so lucky you uploaded one recently!!! This totally solves my problem of overexaggerated “bends” instead of these gorgeous easy waves ❣️

Nikki Engel: I have long hair & I’ve been throwing back the curled pieces when I’m done and didn’t even think I’d be covering up areas of hair that weren’t getting curled at all thanks for the tip! Your sisters face was my exact reaction haha

Valeria: I love how you kept reminding us it was a cold iron

WhyDidYouWriteThat: Stumbled across this video and decided to try it this morning. LIFE CHANGING. I've never had wave/curl this nice before!

Hannah Dare: I’m loving this video! So much fun having your sister there! And it’s very helpful watching you give her tips. It’s like we can live through your sister and see what it would be like to have Kayley by our side as we get ready!

Madison Gretzky: I love watching someone learn their way through this hairstyle! Very helpful haha

Ana Lorena: LOVE that you had Anna do it too, because she made some beginner "mistakes" that you probably wouldn't do, and thus gave you the opening to teach her (and us!) how to avoid them

dwallens: I'm getting a lob tomorrow so this is exactly what I needed to watch! Thanks for a great in-depth tutorial!

Always Anna: I would love to see these styles on brown hair!! Seriously have loved your hair tutorials for years.

Katja Oksanen: This is university level information! I'm floored by this content, and right after the Dany video?? We do not deserve you Also, you guys's high five was so on point that your camera went out of focus and that's bad ass

KarLa Rivera: This video makes me so happy!!! 1. Your sister is adorable. 2. It's AMAZING watching someone who's learning along with us do the hairstyle because it gives such a realistic view of what it'll actually be like trying this out. 3. I LOVE THAT YOU TAKE VARIOUS HAIR LENGTHS INTO CONSIDERATION!!! Also quick question. I see that you're using the Kristin Was curling irons. I currently have a random 1 1/4" iron, but have been thinking about buying the KE 1" iron since my hair is on the shorter side. Worth it to have the two irons and is the KE worth the money? Love you!!!

gipsiusy: omg i love both of you so much! i'd love if you did some hairstyles on dark hair, is so much different the outcome if you don't have blond, multishaded hair

Sammie Holmes: I love this! Love Anna in here and the way that Kayley is explaining it to her as well as us. It felt a little more intimate. Love the growth so much girlie! You're doing Ah-May-Zing!

Carrie Williams: I LOVED seeing you interact with a non-pro. It was great for you to think of extra tips and techniques when seeing her doing the waves irl.

Shanna Wheeler: You girls could be TWINS! Also love this tutorial! I'm a total novice when it comes to curling/styling my super long hair so these videos are MUCH appreciated!!

Nicole Buchhold: I love that you show this on long and short hair it's so helpful! Not a lot of youtubers can demonstrate this. Love love love your videos!

ladykatie: my mom taught me how to curl my hair but i’ve always wondered how you did that wave effect. i’m just realizing now it isn’t very different from how my mom taught me. the only difference is that straightening aspect at the end, which makes sense and is very cool!! definitely trying it soon

Emily Snyder: you should do decade hair like you did on Safiya's channel!! or show us how to style your hair 2010 vs 2019. I would love that!

Elise Drouillard: Loved both of these looks, loved seeing the long and short hair, and loooooved having your sister there who’s not as experienced as you. Amazing tutorial all around

Caitlin Ryan: Loved watching you and your sis! You gave her little tips that I can use too. So great!

1212Dorka: This was very helpful, thanks :) Could you do more hairstyling videos for beginners, like this?

Annelies: With the greatest and most lovable respect, it's so great to see Anna struggle a little with the iron. Anna can join the braidaholic family :)

Makayla S: Yassss! Finally I can learn to do this style, I’ve been wanting to know for so long!

Jessica Womeldorf: I love how you had your sister do her own hair because you gave tips based on what she was doing and showed the difference. You know how sometimes you watch a video and think "I did it just like her, why does mine look different?" Thanks for the tip to practice with a cold iron! My 12 year daughter is afraid of burning herself and I'm going to have her do that. It is so simple but genius!

C C: It CREEPED me out that your wig looks SO natural, like not in a bad way, it just totally looked like your real hair. -weave snatched-

Laura Pierson: Love the little tip for taking an insta pic too I'd love to see a video on best poses for different hair styles. I never see anyone when I succeed at a new hair style but I struggle with taking a good picture of it too to put on social media

Sahana K: Oh my goodness! The tip about not tossing your hair behind your shoulder is *life changing*

What Savvy Said: loved this one!! Thanks for another great tutorial!

Victoria Alexandra: Thank you so much. I have such a hard time doing my hair and have seen so many tutorials over the years and nothing has ever worked for me. I tried this today and it came out perfect.

Deanna Hammitt: Love that you brought Anna in because it’s nice to see a you correcting some of the mistakes I would make. And gives me confidence to think I can do it too

Buffy Cary: The sisters that braid together stay together. Love that Ana is part of your team now. Sister power

Chloe Placke: Could you do some graduation hair styles please?

Kelly H: You look amazing with short hair and in a totally selfish way I'm SO EXCITED for all the short hair tips you can give me cuz my hair's about the same length!!!

Celeste Stratton: So I've always been a curling wand kind of girl, as I find it easier and it works better with my hair BUT after watching you do these curls so often I totally want to buy a curling iron!

Kayla Cook: Such a different video from you!! Love it!! I honestly know how to do this on my own hair with a straightener but my friend's ask me to do theirs sometimes and this is really gonna help!!!

Kristel: Omg ive always been wondering why my hair looks too tight and cant achieve the ig waves!!! Thank you so much for this!!

katertot17: I love the wig!! It looks so natural on you!

Hannah Cunningham: So glad that you brought your sister in on the video!!! :-) As a middle sister, having such a close friend is amazing!

Libby Audrey: I just chopped off my long hair, so this tutorial is perfect!

Tonya Campbell: Love this! Thank you so much!

twinklybones: I’ve found my hair only holds a curl if it’s done with a straightener but I think curling iron curls are so pretty too! They just fall so fast

Mia Schloss: So excited to try these waves for graduation!!

Kamila Marek: You look so amazing in a short hair! ❤️

Violeticious: You are both so pretty! I love it! I need to practice the barely there waves technique!

Olivia Rose: I really love that you got your sister to do some of her own!

Marissa Sharp: Ok, when I saw the thumbnail for this vid, I thought it was Kayley twice....one with a wig and one without, LOL! You two are definitely sisters! And soooo beautiful! I have always wondered how to do these waves. Thank you both for showing us how! Y'all are just too cute together! God bless you! ❣️

Maritina Rouselli: Hey Kayley! Love your videos and your personality. I have a question. I don't have a curling iron and I use the straightener for creating waves, but either I let them dry in clips or not they are not even 'barely there' waves after a few hours. Any advice?

Meaghan Keeley: I love this tutorial! Do you have a video on hard to curl hair? I have really thick hair that's shoulder length and "too healthy" and it's near impossible to keep a curl for any length of time even with hairspray!

Camille Huen: This technique is amazing!

Emily Hansen: This video was awesome! Thanks so much! Side note, could you please do some more short hair styles? Maybe some flat iron styles, too? I just chopped 14 inches off my hair (It's now just below my shoulders instead of past my waist).

Aileen Bell: ahhh at you singing ME! in the bloopers. that made my day. loved the amount of joy in this video!

Chibikate_: You definitely should go for short hair, you look so amazing with that wig

JENNIFER WALT: You are two beauty angels ! Your parents made quite a good job.

gi: Your hair looks amazing!!!

Xandra: The 2010 vs 2019 thing... so true !!!!!

Victoria Straley: Thanks ahh! So helpful ❤

tinyquokka: Would really love a non-clip / wand version of this video!

Emily Dupont: I love that you had someone else demo it helps so much!!!!!!!

Miranda: OK so I had to watch the difference between 2010 and 2019 a few times but omg it explains so much about why my hair never quite looks trendy

K R: Omg yay thank you! Was so pleasantly surprised when i saw your video pop up, and on my most needed and my fave hair subject ever!!! Thank u!

Ava Silvestre: You look awesome with short hair! So glad you uploaded this... I impulsively chopped off all my hair to an almost-bob length earlier this year and have been low-key regretting it ever since. It's incredibly hard to style! Now that it's growing out to about your length, I'll be sure to use your techniques!

Jemstone M.: Wow so much easier to understand. I need to practice and you two are so stunning

Kristin_ward48: You and your sister look so similar xx loved this video Just wandering if you could do a video of how to do curls with a curler without a clip

Britney Stojke: LOOOOVED this format thank you!!

user123 3: You guys are so beautiful and sweet and helpful! Thanks so much

Kelowna Byron: Could you possibly do a video on hair growth or maybe how to style awkward length hair... where it’s not long, medium or short cause I’m in that situation right now and would really appreciate it, lol. Love u and your videos Kayley! ✨

buddy holly: Love it! I tried it a few times but i def need more practice

Beth Berka: Great video. I think as you two have gotten older you look way more alike

Sára Békési: I had just cut my hair and this video helps me a lot!!! Thank youu and you are doing an amazing job ❤❤❤

Shelby Marie: I love that you also had your sister do it!

Sophia: I was gonna tweet Kayley asking how to do Eve's hair from Lucifer but the beachy waves are pretty much them so no need! So versatile can't wait to try them

Bailey Lane: Ana looked TERRIFIED! But it was so cute! I saw that little dance when she got that curly curl! So cute! Ana embrace the mistakes! We are all doing it way worse so you have a leg up. Omg you guys are so cute! Also Loved the IT"S COLD lol that was great! I don't know what it was about this video but it was just different enough to bring back that super cute, summer vibe. I can't wait to see more....could you possibly do short hair graduation hair looks for both curly and straight hair? Pretty please? Also not going to lie I thought you cut your hair and was hella excited...right up until you said it was a wig lol

Jessica Rach: You and your sister r the cutest together!!! Love it!

Indy Douma: Can you maybe do ombré/balayage hairstyles? I feel like it has so much potential, but often it just looks weird with my usual styles
