How To Style Wavy Frizzy Hair - No Heat | Karen Lin

Hello friends! I've had a long struggle with my hair since it is not typical asian hair. It is thick, frizzy and wavy and always made me feel like an ugly duckling when I was younger. However, over the years, I learned how to style thick, wavy, and frizzy hair (with minimal to no heat) so it doesn't look like a big, frizzy mess! Hopefully this helps someone else out there who had my struggles or is just looking for a new way to style their hair :). Hope you enjoy!

Karen welcome back to my channel so today I'm going to be doing the tutorial on how I style my hair - I am full Chinese and usually Asian hair is like straight more on the thin side, but, as you can see, my hair is not like that. I'Ve had a lot of struggle. Ever since I was young on styling, my hair, it was only until I was really in, like late high school early college that I really learned how to style my hair correctly, a little more information about my hair. It is naturally wavy, but if I don't put any product in that or do the steps that I'm going to show you guys later on, then it does get super super frizzy. I used to just wash it and then comb it out and then try it with the blow dryer. It would just be like a big poofy mess. I literally look like a witch and my mom used to say I look like a saw Paul, which in Chinese means crazy, lady and I really do like a crazy lady used to straighten my hair every single day, but in around sophomore year in high school. I got additional perm, but a digital perm is basically is like a curly perm, I believe, had originated in Asia and it was super popular back then. So after that I learned how to style my curly hair and eventually when my hair grew out. I realized that all the stuffs that I was doing actually went for my natural hair, so if your hair is a little bit frizzy on the dry side course not straight drugs like wavy, then hopefully this will help you and if you guys like this video, please Give it a thumbs, I would really appreciate it and they will. Let me know that you guys, like this and I'll, create more content like this. I just hit 300 subscribers last week, which I'm super super happy about. Come join. My family come join the crew and subscribe below and now so that further adieu, let's get started to the tutorial, so I've just washed my hair. So I'm going to take my partially damp air out of my hair towel and then I'm going to test it and then just also your hair a little to let it out and I'm going to be using this big brush that I got on t3 on $ 10 make sure your jumps with your hair not like what I just did, especially if you have dry, brittle or color-treated hair, because then you should be extra gentle with it. So now I'm just going to keep brushing it until I get every tangle out because we do not want any tangles. So now I'm just parting, my hair, how I usually do with the line on the right side of my head remember when Jesus parts were really in, I had a Jesus part for the longest time and that we are good to go and remember to shake what Your mama gave you now for step, two, I'm going to be using the pure ology Sirius color care, color fanatic, multitasking, hair beautifier for perfecting color treated hair wow, that's a mouthful, so I am just going to spray this into my hand and then rub it all. In my hair I use a couple spritz back around five six, because my hair is super super dry, so it needs extra edge, help one more spray. Why not? So I'm just going to be rubbing more all over my hair until I feel like it has coated all my strands evenly avoiding the top of my head so that it doesn't get too oily. Don'T forget to apply more at the ends of your hair, because that is where your hair is most dry and brittle, especially if you have color treated hair, don't forget to do your Pantene wave and don't forget to close the cap and now on to step three. I'M going to be using my trusty Garnier Fructis curled, construct mousse I've been using this for around eight years now make sure you really shake the bottle before you use it, because that's how you get the Moosey consistency. I like to use two big globs, one glob for each side of my head, my left and my right, but I will use more if I feel like my curls are not fine enough and then I just keep scrunching to just scrunch scrunch until you get those Waves - and I keep doing it until I feel like it - is more defined and now on to step four. So I'm going to be using this travel t3 blow-dryer, I got on sale. Oh, you go, can't resist a good sale and I'm just going to blow-dry my bangs area, just the top of my head, because I don't want the heat to touch the rest of my head, because I get really dry and brittle. This also gives me more volume and allows it to be less oily over the next few days. I find that if I just air dry out my whole head, the top of my head gets oily much faster and then I have to wash my hair early, and you know this girls, don't like washing my hair that much it's also bad for your hair. It'S not cuz we're dirty okay, so I'm just going to blow dry until I feel like the top of my head is dry enough and then I will just air dry, the rest of my head. So this is what my hair looks like. After a couple hours of drying, I think I washed it like four hours ago. Hopefully you guys found this helpful if it helps one person out there that I would be super super happy to view guys like this video. Please give it a thumbs up and please subscribe below. If you haven't already, I post videos every week so be sure to happen on vacation Bell as well. So you don't miss out on a video, and I will see you guys next time. Bye,

queenshirin: I can totally relate! My hair is naturally wavy and dries frizzy, too. This was definitely helpful. Your hair is so beautiful!

The Journey: My wife always deals with this in the heat. Great tips I’ll have to show her this

Aylie Rose: your natural hair is gorgeous!! If i just blow-dry my hair i end up looking crazy!! its huge frizzy and curly. I've never actually tried using product to help my curls i'm so bad for just curling it a few days after ive straightened it, seems so silly when i have natural curls. your hair goes like natural beauty waves i love it!

AYEashley: I honestly didn’t think many other girls, especially Asians had the same exact hair as me so I was happy to have found a YouTuber with the same hair type and uses products rather than hair tools. I did try it out today and since my hair is longer, I used a bit more of the products but IT REALLY HELPED & WORKED for me so thank you very much! I now don’t have to take hella long in the bathroom than what I should & I don’t have to worry about using too many hair products that produce heat on a daily basis

Yvette Cousin: Some people dont realize asian hair is corse as well. Use a deep conditioner with heat, before you shower detangle with conditioner. Also try coating your hair with an oil BEFORE you wash it. it will keep the shampoo from striping it. I like your videos :)

Beauty Riot X: I have the worst waves to my hair. They’re like random kinks here and there. I can’t air dry it. It’s so frustrating. And I’m a hair stylist which makes it worse. I have to do everyone else’s hair, I never feel like doing my own after all that. I use a hair wrap like that as well. It’s so much more gentle to dry with, rather than a regular towel. I love pureology. I love the length cute line. I use either olaplex no. 3 or an apple cider vinegar leave in product. I also use mouse for volume but maybe I should try one for waves and defuse it instead. My hair is also very damaged due to color so that also could be why my waves are brutal. Nice video

J&J Garage: Wow your hair looks amazing, i'm going to show this to my wife, she's got curly hair this might give her some ideas on keeping it looking fresh.

The Frey Family: I have very frizzy hair! It’s naturally curly and I have some big hair. I can’t wait to try this! You have beautiful hair! New friend here!

Cosmetopia Digest: I have wavy, frizzy hair from hell, and heat fries it up, so this tutorial is a godsend! Haha that Pureology product has the longest name I've heard! Good to see it isn't a greasy product. I adore the natural, but frizz-free waves you got. The mousse was genius, and was definitely responsible for killing off frizz - I have to go get the Garnier Curl Construct mousse over the weekend, and hopefully it will work for me as well!

Melissa Leah Garrett: Your intro is so cute! I love the bright colors and music. I have somewhat wavy hair too since I had a treatment for a blood disorder and most of my hair fell out. I cut it super short and ever since it grew back, it grew back in darker and wavy but not frizzy. I can't brush my hair when it is wet at all. I am so tenderheaded and it is hurts to brush it while super wet. It has to be damp. That mousse really made a difference in getting those waves nice and textured. I need to try the drying the roots only trick. This was a great tutorial. Just subbed to your channel and can't wait to see more from you!

Tyler Toups: I’m so glad someone understands my hair struggles and knows how to deal with it

NeoN Atary: describing my hair! thick, wavy, frizzy crazy lady hair! thanks for sharing

Gabriele B.: I'm gonna definitely try this out! I'm struggling with it sooo much!

:\: Ur hair is LITERALLY just like my hair!! Thanks so much!

Yani Rajpal: Video starts at 2:03 thanks me later

Natalie K. Kim: I can relate all my Asian friends and family have nice thick hair that is straight and nice while mine is wavy dry not thick in the middle and frizzy and poofy. No matter what I try works

bonesnpink: I literally have the worst combination of hair traits ever. I have really thick, frizzy, wavy hair. And I have enough hair for like 2-3 people.

Tobi Robinson: Love this! I need to try it. I’m basically doing the same thing but I let my whole head air dry and it’s a problem.

Essence of Beauty: That came out beautifully!

Robin Walker: Please make another video like this! Do you (or anyone) know what to do when the top of your head is super frizzy?

JasmineeJar: Omg I might just try this. My hair is super frizzy and wavy so I hardly ever put it down. This was helpful

Shelby A: I have naturally curly hair so I definitely understand your struggle with frizz. I like the towel that you had on, I need to get one of those for my hair, I heard they're much better than the regular towels. I had no idea that middle parts where called Jesus parts Ooo the pureology color fanatic is definitely a popular item where I work. The t3 dryer is so cute o: love the rose gold details.

Kai: I love this! My hair is thick and frizzy and it never looks the same haha I'm going to check out the products you mentioned! #YTQueens

ektaatomar: I have similar hair. I have been struggling to make it look good when I go out in humidity without really putting any heat. I am gonna try this and see if it works for me. Thanks for creating this video.

Belle L: Thx! My hair is naturally curly and I needed this!

MrG: Long hair isn't a problem to me lol. Nicely edited and good tutorial, you come across as confident.

Becca L: I am Chinese and my hair is wavy too hard to manage! My mom and grandma sister all have wavy hair. I always straighten it but the heat makes my hair so dry!

xander: Love the intro and music, keep up the awesome videos. Great video quality as well.

NoBlandMakeup: The scrunch method saves my hair some days. I have really curly hair, but sometimes my hair is being super lazy and doesnt want to curl in some places lol.

Amelie: OMG, I needed this!!! I am also full Chinese and I have almost the exact same hair type as you!!!

Teacher Satya: Super nice intro, I will definitely tell my my friends to watch this ;)

Lo Kee: Looks great! What do you do after you've slept on it a couple days? ... Like, each morning, to refresh it for the day, until you're ready to wash it again?

Shana Leigh: You are so cuuuuute and your hair is BEAUTIFUL! Just a tip--- if that's a paddle brush you're using, if you turn it vertically it's better for detangling. Horizontal is better for blowdrying. :)

Joyce C: 6:19, the curls came outta no where! What sorcery is this!! Love your hair tho! So thick and so voluminous! ✨

Marissa Arianna: I wish this would work for my hair lol your hair is beautiful

LoveKeebuu: I really like your editing style & camera quality. I think it's great to have thick hair. It looks more beautiful to me :)

Marcus Andrie: You are beautiful with or without a hairstyle!

Nay's Days: I have the hair towel too. Love it. Great video and I’ll have to try it. I hate how greasy my hair looks. I guess because I out product up there too. Now ill move it down.

Ming Reu: Honestly I’m the same I even thought I looked like a witch too!! I have always been so jealous and confused of why all the other Asians got to have nice thin straight easy hair and then I’m here with this poofball mess of a hair.

Krista Griffin: I have pretty straight hair naturally and it's so thick! I never could get those hair towel twist to work for me. I just use a regular towel. I have to use a wet brush on my hair. It's so hard to brush out. I haven't used pureology before, but I've seen their products come into tjmaxx at really good prices. I remember when way back in the day scrunched hair was the thing. I could never get my hair to scrunch because of how straight it is. I love a good sale too. I don't blow dry my hair much. Takes too long. I try not to use heat on my hair. You have gorgeous hair!

Shahirah Yaacob: Thanks for the tips. I have same problem like you. Oily on top of my head dry at the end of hair.

Abigail Lorenzo: Can’t wait for more videos

izabels planet !!☆: Will this work on naturally frizzy/ kinda straight hair? And I don't have peurology stuff. Is that fine?

Chyna Cruz: Great video ❤️

DancingDDH: I relate to this so much... I have naturally thick wavy but dry hair...every time I brush my hair I look like a witch

Nezuko kamado: I can relate bc my hair is so difficult I am just like her I am young and chinese and it's wavy and frizzy I always have to put a Product or it looks so bad

Kaythlin: It took me until 8th grade to learn how to properly care for my wavy frizzy hair like it wasn’t really curly it was straight and curly but puffy if that makes sense. What I do is I put this type of hydrating hair oil/ serum right after I get out of the shower and After that I will put it in two braids and go to sleep and take them out in the morning and my hair will usually be tamed Now I do the same overnight braid method for the next day On the 3rd day in the morning I usually now straighten my hair Becuase my hair created enough oil and moisture to not look dry and rough when I straighten it And that night I shower and repeat

Kikipeak: What do you use to shampoo and condition your hair? Thanks!

_Sweet Honey.Gacha_: Lol same hair type! And I'm Asian too. But not Chinese. I'm Vietnamese. Thank you for the content! Your amazing!

JadeykinzProductions: Finally someone who has the same hair as me! #subscribed

Tina Maughan: My hair is pretty much stick straight , I always wanted waves or Curley hair . I think your hair is gorgeous not crazy just tons of volume . $10 for a good brush is awesome I have odd textured hair my ancestry is weird Native American and Danish so it does odd things. I haven’t tried that purell? I love your hair color . Idk I can’t stand blow drying my hair I know it really helps get it styled though. Your look is perfect! Great tips

The Stephenson Grech Family: that was great and some lovely tips

Andy Wah: you have very lovely hair. great maintenance routine.

Emily Lin: omg! i have the same hair as you but i think i have been neglecting my waves! do you know what hair type you are? (like 2a or 2b)

Ana Marie R: But are your "waves" sticky? Hard? Like as if you used gel? Cuz if I use any kind of mouse or gel hairspray it gets so sticky and more dry and just ugh ‍♀️

Dirnguk Saiske: thank you Karen
