Have fun with your hair!

Christina xx

Hi, I'm Christina from HairRomance.com and welcome back to Hair Romance the place. That'S all about loving your hair. So today's video is a request and I've been asked about ways to refresh curls on the second day. Or it could be third or it could be fourth or it could be. Seventh.. no judgement And you shouldn't be washing your hair every day. If you have curly hair anyway., So I've got a few videos on my channel, which I'll link somewhere around here and they've been really popular, because I have a little trick for using heat that I use to always get a perfect result. So if you definitely definitely want to get an exact result, that is my go-to way that I always star my hair, but sometimes you're just at home or you don't be using heat all the time. So I've got a couple of methods of heat, free ways to refresh your curls on the second day. Now. The first one is, of course, a little bit of preparation and that's making sure that you go to bed the right way so that your curls wake up. Pretty good in the morning the main way you wreck your hair overnight is by tossing and turning a rough pillowcase. This sort of thing I dream a lot, so I'm always moving a lot in my sleep, so I can wake up with a bit of a bird's nest, so the trick I use is I always clip up my hair. Now the clip I use. I have not been able to find it at the moment and but the one thing I love about it, it has a flat bottom.. I am on the lookout for these. If you know where you can find one, please let me know.. This is a Lady Jayne. One and there's a smaller version still available, but this one I'm going to find it, but the thing that works well. So what you want to look for in a clip that will be comfortable is it has a silicon inner and it has a nice flat base. So I don't get any bars sticking into my head and the silicon holds my hair and stays in place. This is great, but if you can't these are really really easy to find, and these are Invisibobbles and you can also get these from a few other brands. But they are a great loose elastic that doesn't leave a mark in your hair and what I do with these, which I've shown on my other videos I'll quickly, show you as well. Is that put my hair up right on top of my head? Like really, you almost want to get your head upside down, I'm not even doing a very good job now, but kind of so that it's right up and this technique is called pineapple in because you end up looking a bit like a pineapple. So with this technique, what I like to do is clip my hair up and then sleep like that and then in the morning let my hair down and I'm left with quite a little bit of volume. So this is my hair. This is our second day here and I haven't put any other product in it, except how it is now. The other thing as well is to sleep on a silk pillowcase everyone, I'm hearing so much more talk about this now, which is great because it's such an old trick. My mum told me about it from years ago and if you are in a bit of a budget, you can always get a vintage silk scarf, which you can pick up pretty cheaply, especially they're, really ugly ones, but no one will see it at home. Tie it around your pillow and then you can be sleeping in a silk pillowcase, so just a few dollars, otherwise there's some beautiful ones on the market from slip and the good night company. They have some incredible pillowcases, which I highly recommend, and I have both of those ones at home, so sleeping on a good surface and having your hair up is going to help. If you don't like having anything in your hair, what I can recommend is a technique that a reader told me about, and she described it as sleeping like little mermaid sleeping like Ariel, which I thought was really funny, but sometimes I do do this. If I am just kind of maybe having a little lay down and I'll squash my hair, this is quite good if you want to sit down and read for a while or hang out where she puts all her hair up and sort of lays it out. Like a fan behind her on the pillow - and I think this is that's a great way, if I'm just laying on the sofa I do want to squash on my hair. Just do that and if you're, a very quiet, sleeper that'll work for you now the next trick so now you've sort of woken up with hair. That looks a bit like this or maybe looks worse ..., my hair's, a mix of like a few straighter sections. A few curly sections it has it's a mine of its own always does so. What I'd recommend next is to have a steamy shower works really well for me.. So after I have a shower, I still keep my hair clipped up in the shower.. I don't wash my face in the shower because I find the water's too hot, so I just wash my body and I keep my face and hair out of the shower.. I have a really hot shower, so it's important if you have a shower as hot as I do, that you're not putting your face under that water either.. So just my body and then when I come back out, I wash my face and then I'll unclip, my hair and kind of let the steam from the shower. That'S built up kind of work into my hair kind of just gives it a little bit more volume. But if you want to recreate this, if you don't shower in the morning or you don't have a boiling hot shower like me, you can just use a really fine water mist, so you need to pick up one of these.. These are water spray, bottles. I've had this one for ages.. You can buy these anywhere at supermarkets anywhere for a couple of dollars, and all you want to do is just have a nice little fine mist of water, because frizz comes a lot from dry hair. So you need to add a little bit of moisture back in to reset your curls. I just like to lightly miss the product through my hair and give it a little bit of a scrunch up.. I can also spot any curls that are looking a little bad and maybe concentrate more water on those and twist them to try and reform the curl.. Now, once you've added in that water and your hair's had a chance to refresh and your curls come back to life a little bit, you need to make sure that you can set them. A really quick trick. For me, it's just to mix a little bit of water with my conditioner and you want to grab if you following the curly girl method, you want to use a silicone free, conditioner like Darshana. This is a great product from a really small business that I love to support, but otherwise, whatever conditioner you use is fine, and I just mix a really small amount with a little bit of water in your hands just to loosen that down and then run that Through your curls. and I find that that conditioner works really well for taming frizz, tha, sort of works all the way down, and it's kind of all through my hair and also helps and to really hydrate the ends of my hair. That might be looking a bit. Frayed another tip you can do is you can create your own leave-in spray., Taking another water bottle similar to this, you can mix it a little bit of conditioner in water about one part conditioner to five parts water and give that a good shake, and you can Use that, instead of your water spray to do a two in one, if you really want to get a little bit more hold and your hair needs a bit of extra help and going for a gel or a custard can work really well.. I, like the kinky curly curling custard, that is a bit of a tongue twister, but this product's great and has like a sort of weird jelly texture or like a custard gel. To be honest, it's the best way to describe it and it dries. It does form a bit of a cast on your hair, so I use that if I want to redefine any ends or redefine any curls, let that set and then scrunch out the cast to reveal softer calls, maybe about depending on how damp my hair is. Maybe like an hour or two later and if you wake up in your hair, is a total mess. You can do a half start again and what I mean by this is where I would wet my hair down not completely in the shower, but I'm almost so that it's half wet through and then I would put my either like a gel and a curl cream Back through my hair and almost come out with wet hair, so I haven't had to wash it all the way through and wash my scalp, I'm just resetting my curls and then I would use a diffuser and just quickly re-dry, my hair, so that I'm ready to Go and that routine probably would only take me maximum half an hour with it's, not a full wash, but it's fresh curls to start the day again. Another tip to leave you with to refresh your curls is just to check where your part is sitting and often curls can get quite flat on top, and you get a lot more volume here at the ends. And so you want to check that. How your part is sitting because a flat part can also give the illusion of less volume and a bit more of a zigzag. Curving part can create the look of volume. So with my hair, I always like to have a side part, but I have it curving back around so that I have some curls sitting this way and some sitting around here and you can just move some curls around to see where that's it's better, to create A little bit more volume, particularly at the crown or around the sides and top of your head. I really hope these tips help for a heat free, curl refresh in the morning. I also link my full curly hair routine. Hair Romance: I'm still searching for this clip so please let me know if you've seen them anywhere xx

Joy O'Toole: This is such a help for refreshing my curls since I don't wash them every day. LOL. I've done the mermaid thing, too, when lying down in the afternoon. Thanks for this.

Maureen Mizener: When re-twisting straighter sections, do you have a trick to make sure you're twisting the curl in the right direction?

Tammie Powell: Scunchi also makes a stretchy hair band (3 to a pack) that works fairly well for executing the pineapple method. I do find that after some usage, I have to snip some of the band from one end (the male end, if you will) to reduce the length of the band (and thus, the circumference). Thanks for posting such useful tips!

ladyflimflam: I like the alligator sectioning clips for putting my hair up at night. The big duckbill clips that are hinged on the top prong, those clips. They keep everything secure but don’t cause me headaches or dent my hair. I generally refresh by scrunching with wet hands or using Biolage leave-in conditioner. I’ve been using that leave-in for 25? years and just love the smell of it.

Just Cindy Lynn: Just found this channel. So, so happy. I have so much to say but can't form into words, I am so excited. Thank you for taking your time out to help us tame our beast!!

Sandy Raven: Satin works as well as silk. Thanks for the channel, I really appreciate the tips.

Mary Lemma: Make your own leave in!!! I have been doing that for years and can't recommend it enough! My hair is so thin so I have to water down almost every product. I've found a lot of conditioner & leave in along with a few drops of a gel (or something that has a tendency to dry a little harder) mixed in a spray bottle with water is the perfect combo for me!

Kelly V.: Great tips! I've been using a kid's detangling spray to refresh. (Johnson's Kids Detangler in the US, strawberry version which really has no scent).

KenZofTheBearz: This is off topic for this video but I was wondering if you have any tips for protecting curls when you are camping or spending a lot of time outdoors? I spend most of my summers outdoors and I end up with really dried out hair. I love your channel!! It has helped me so much with my hair. Thanks ☺️

Desi Curls: Hey thanks for the tips! I have a question, as someone with color treated curls I want to wet it the least amount possible so I can have the least amount of fading. Will this refreshing technique fade hair faster?

HeyitsGina!: if your hair is too short to pineapple you can also buy satin sleeping caps aswell I'm gonna try this soon they have them at walmart for only a couple dollars

LO: Hi there! Thanks for your advice, you are very nice. One of mine: I mix the conditioner with the water and spray my curlers. A hug from Argentina

Ducky Plays: Finally found someone with my curl pattern!

Tatum Borealis: Thank you so much for this video!!

Ann Elisabeth: Have you checked out the ultrasonic face misters? Would take longer, but would spread better than a regular sprayer.

Michelle Hitt: Do you use hair spray? Btw I love your curls

Rachel Walker: I just found this channel and I love it <3

Maria João Leandro: Hi. I have one question. Refreshing my curls i find that i need to detangle. I workout every day and after sleeping i find it dificult to recover my curls. Any tips? Thanks

Eve J: Can you please share the color you use to get the beautiful blond? I have dark brown hair and would like to go blond. Thanks so much ☺

MaryAnn Piccioni: I exercise every day. I get alot of sweat around my face and on my head. Is wetting my hair every day ok to refresh?

Vanessa Marie Ellingsen: Would I get the same results If I used the hair oil from Darshana after I spray water on my hair? Instead of the conditioner?

Odez 2019: I like watching your videos.. thankyou !!

Tammy Aswell: Thank you for sharing.

Mayou tube: Good video. My suggestion is getting your own color: Braun using henna color gel. Very easy and cheap. Then more cocos oil into your body: look at Dr. Eric Berg:intermittent fasting . For getting healthy older with hydrated hair. Love.

Return Tosender: Lol I always go to sleep with my hair like a mermaid above my pillow. Lol. My hair is very heavy n long. I got 8 inches cut off n nobody in my house noticedlol but it curled better but I’m always having to put extra water in my hair over n over after it starts to dry. It would cost me a million $ to product my hair everyday. Thank u I subbed n love your videos!!

ashleyeva: https://www.target.com/p/scunci-9cm-no-slip-covered-hinge-jaw-clip-1pc/-/A-53043480 we have this one at Target in the US- it doesn't explicitly say that it has the silicone inside, but that is usually what scunci (the brand) uses for their "no slip grip" products.

Carla Bellini: humidity causes frizz Redken ringlet is a good product for refreshing too!

Athena Padilla: Great video. I would like to share what I do for straight curls. Please watch my video called Ribbon Techniques. You'll love this no heat trick to get perfect ringlets!

Alpha Notmale: What do you suggest to control a super oily scalp so that you don’t have to wash curly hair so often? My problem is that while my curly hair is super dry, my scalp is obscenely oily, but dry shampoos don’t do the trick for me... all they do is cause me build up and therefore dandruff. What effective alternative do you recommend? Thank you!

Juliana Wellman: I can’t relax with a silk or satin pillow case.

Victoria James: first

Leslie Seibel: I’m sorry to be insulting, but your hair looks frizzy, has non defined curls and looks stiff.

deepocean135 dixit: Your hair is not that great I don’t like your curls at all
