Hey everyone kaley, your friendly neighborhood, hair stylist with anna laura and we're gon na do a 30 day update on anna's curly hair journey yay about a month ago. We did a video where we decided to just try some stuff we'd, seen on tick tock and around youtube to see if we could coax a wave or a curl out of your hair. If you haven't seen that video, i'm gon na need you to pause this and go watch that and then come back. Oh my gosh. I'Ve learned so much since it's ridiculous. We said in the video that the goal would be that we would look back and face palm and i definitely i look back in facebook yeah, so i do think before we even get into this. We should acknowledge that um curly hair has not always been like an accepted beauty standard, which is wrong, like obviously wrong. We should embrace all hair types absolutely and i'm gon na focus on the good side. Now that, like we're accepting things - and i also really want to shout out all the amazing curly girls over the years - that have learned how to style their curls and are now teaching us, especially black women and women of color - have been doing this for a really Long time we've learned lots of tips and tricks from them and i don't think we can do a curly hair journey without at least giving a shout out absolutely to all the knowledge we have from them. So, thank you very much and uh i feel like we should just get into talking about all this yeah all right. Okay, let's do it! Let'S let you take that away anna, i'm basically here to listen and like get feedback at this point yeah. So i guess to start off with. I do want to address that i didn't do the curly girl method like to the tee there's a lot of rules. There'S it's a very big overarching concept. So i do want to talk about what i did. What i did was completely cut out heat for 30 days. I did not use any shampoos with parabens or sulfates. I really just focused on like nourishing and moisturizing my hair. If i refer to this as my curly journey, that is what i'm talking about before this. I was doing a lot of heat styling. Sorry, i pretty much never wore my hair actually natural. I looked a long time in my photo roll to see if i could find a picture of my hair completely natural and i couldn't find it at all, because if i did wear it natural, i probably wasn't taking a photo of it because i wasn't really celebrating It - and i think, that's the biggest thing that i wanted to change on this 30-day process. Yeah. You went through that similar to the reason that i did with like the whole, like lockdown thing happening and all of a sudden you weren't doing hair makeup for, like other people, yeah exactly, and i think you definitely touched that in that um video. Was it your self-care, routine, yeah? Okay, i know that that title is like out of the ordinary for me, but i opened up a lot about, like my mental health and what that's been like for me, and i really really liked that video yeah, if you haven't seen it i mean you definitely Should click on that link because she i mean all her years of therapy paid off in that video, i i felt therapist i was seen i was hurt. It was great. It moved me but yeah, it's very similar to that. I think you went through it a lot more in makeup and i went through it a lot more in here where i realized this pattern of kind of doing my hair. All for this, like one specific look like, i would do it because i was going somewhere. Yeah, i would do it to look a certain way and it wasn't necessarily about what my hair actually wanted to be doing, or what my hair you did and so yeah. I think all of this really came from me wanting to celebrate whatever natural texture. I can find - and you know starting this off - i had no idea if my hair was going to you know spring up and be curly all of a sudden or if it was going to just be like it's kind of cool, because i think in the makeup Video that we posted last week, i was talking about how my makeup went from like blanking my face out and then painting another one over it yeah to actually celebrating my features and yours kind of went from like blanking out your hair texture to embracing it. Absolutely that's pretty cool wow i've chill! That'S so weird! Look i literally do that's so crazy! That'S awesome, though yeah. So let's talk about how it went for you yeah all right, so i'm gon na break this down into like four week increments, because we do not need to go into all 30 days. I did keep track of it pretty much day by day and it is a lot that is dedication to save us all. Like five hours of me talking to you about my hair, there's a seminar on every hair on my head, we're gon na break it down into the weeks, okay, so starting off with week one week one day, one you guys have already seen if you haven't seen It click above we'll link that it is a video of what not to do so. Here was my process around. It was like i'm not super educated on curly hair right. I said that in that video i have become so much more educated throughout the course of this journey. I'M super proud and happy with that right, but because i was coming from like a non-expert place, i thought it would be interesting to like. I watched a few videos, i probably consumed about an hour of content, and then i was like this is what i learned from that hour. Let'S see what happens right and i feel, like that's, probably really normal right, so i like that we had that kind of like fall on our face moment, but it was a little bit of a fall in our heart. It definitely was looking back at it. Like you guys were talking about like cringing with how dry my hair was, and i was brushing it out - i'm right there with you now believe me. It was definitely a face palm moment. So that went straight into a week of like trying to figure out how to apply all the comments that i got, which were amazing by the way biggest tool of my journey by far going through a curly hair journey. I would just read the comments. Like recap, the ones that are applicable - it's a very, very good comment. It is, it was great, but you guys were really there for me that first week let me tell you, people were dming, me tips and tricks and helping me out - and it was - it was really a lot of information to consume in that first week. So i think my biggest struggle through that week was figuring out how to wake up with any sort of curl in my hair. You all saw me earlier today doing the video with kaylee, so getting my curls. That all has happened since then is i went on a few walks with my dogs. It was like 95 degrees outside, so i had to throw it up the feeling i kind of like messed up some of this, those like curls after the end of day. One still definitely there all right, i'm just going to keep things very loose and try not to disturb any of this beautiful shape. I think i should probably be using like a silk or like fluffy scrunchie, or something for this all right. This learning process we're learning as we go now. I'Ve learned that it's a much different process for trying to maintain these natural curls so pretty much on day. Two after i read all those comments i wanted to like pretty much start over. You did. I remember that yeah i like fully wet my hair all over again. It started with just like spraying it and it ended up being stopping wet to the point i had to plop all over again, but i just like was getting so much good information. I was like oh i've got to do it right away, um and i'm usually a wash my hair once maybe twice a week kind of gal, so re-wetting it that much. That quickly was already so far out of the normal. For me, taking out my plop, oh my gosh, i'm probably taking out the plum yeah. It'S been a minute. Let'S see how it looks. Hopefully it looks fine to just go in because that's what i'm doing oh honey, she is kirk, lay yeah, so we're gon na go with the um air dry method right now, because i got ta go we're done with work, so we're rolling out all right. So this is the final result of just air drying and really worked out. I'M shocked and i think the rest of that week i pretty much like almost entirely ruined up my hair every day that week trying to figure out how to refresh the curls in a way that made sense, but also i was trying to use all of y'all's Tips and tricks so the first week was kind of a cluster mess. I don't know it was. It was a lot of information, a lot of me trying stuff out another thing that i changed up a lot that first week was figuring out how to sleep. With my curls, that was a big one. I tried silk pillowcase, which i love well. I will always continue to sleep on a silk pillowcase. You guys recommended pineappling, which was i had to look it up. Okay, you do shin young, i'm a kind of like a unicorn chin young with a really loose silk scrunchie, which shout out to kayleigh. That was one of the gifts she showered me with on this looking hair journey. I didn't super love that, because i'm a tummy sleeper, i know it's bad for me. Don'T come forward in the comments and i also have like really long hair so that tail was really long. It didn't work for me, but i know it works for a lot of people. So then i tried the silk turbine that worked out super well. Actually, this silk. Do you mean like a bonnet kind of thing that was called yeah? It'S kind of like a bonnet yeah, so on the outside, it's like a normal material on the inside. It'S like silky yeah, so i use that and it works super well. It kept the frizz down. It was great. I just shouldn't even like couldn't sleep with it. On it made me feel hot and claustrophobic, and i was freaking out so not a match for me, but it did help with the whole. Like frizz control yeah. I know i think uh suede uses yes, yeah yeah. I was like gold she's, my girl. Now, maybe i don't know her yet but she's my girl, she's so cool, and then what i landed on eventually was a loose braid, but that was actually kind of later on in the in the journey. But that was that's my whole sleep situation. Sweet one was a mess, a lot of information, a lot of experimentation and throwing everything at the wall, and nothing was working. How did we two go unsurprisingly week? One was like all of the information which led into a just a really big meltdown of week. Two, no, i kind of knew it was gon na be a rough day, because my hair already started out pretty crazy um, but it ended up getting just so poofy and frizzy that i had to put it up and i ended up having a ponytail all day And then um this is it now, i'm really having a hard time, not comparing my hair to other people, because i've, you know been spending so much time researching like the right ways to do things and i'm i don't know i feel like everybody else's curls. Just look so much better in mine. Look good like right away, but then the second they have any kind of like adversity, any sort of like heat or humidity. I just feel like they're spazzing out and then it's just really fluffy and frizzy, and then i'm not supposed to brush my hair and it feels like it's just all. Like one big mat, i really felt super sad after i put in the work to like re-wet. My hair yesterday, i ended up even like diffusing it and everything um putting a little more gel in it. Diffusing it and it looked pretty when i left for work and then it just like as the day went on, i guess it dried and it got fluffier and frizzier and then even in a ponytail it just looked super bad. So i was not in the place to like video or anything, because i was really annoyed and like kind of disappointed, um that i had put in that work and then it just looked really frizzy and stuff, but like really like tangly and frizzy pieces. Just are like giving me anxiety, i like to be able to run my hands through my hair and then realizing like that's not doable when you have curly hair, which i'm sure it's just something i'll get used to and okay, i'm i'm done complaining. It'S fine! Everything'S! Fine, i'm gon na go ahead and get this wet and give it another shot. I think this is the moment where i was just like. I was spending probably like two hours a day on my hair, completely re-wetting it completely. Trying again, i was super focused on trying to make my hair look like all of the videos i was watching of like people giving instructional and very helpful tips. Yeah. I think i was just focused on the wrong thing. I was focused on trying to get my hair to look like theirs and i was putting in hours and hours of work, and i didn't feel like my hair was giving me that instant gratification of like it's looking better keep it up. It was like it looks worse every time you wake up, oh no, it's like the transition phase too, as well yeah. I mean i've not experienced it, but i've heard people talk about it when you try to like start teaching your curls yeah yeah they're like what's going on. I don't know how to do what you're telling me to do so. From my side i hear that you were trying like new different stuff every single day and that kind of overwhelming yeah it did so what'd. You do for week two. So then. Basically that was like on the at the very beginning of week. Two i just kind of like you know week, one i was soaring in the week two i crashed. Oh no and then i was like well i've committed to the internet that i'm gon na do this for 30 days. So i've got to pick myself up somehow and i was like all right: i'm just going to shift my focus and i'm going to focus on making some goals that i know i can do. That was super helpful and i encourage a lot of you guys. A lot of you, a lot of you guys, encouraged me that week through, like dms and instagram they're like don't give up, it's gon na be frustrating at first, and that was super helpful and, like i reiterate, to anybody who's wanting to go through this, like just Like push through that first few weeks and just try to incorporate some really tangible things moving forward, and so what i decided to focus on was only detangling, my hair while wet you guys really came for me in the comments on that, and i appreciate it um, Like soaking wet - and i think overall like that, was like the biggest thing for me going from what you guys saw on week, one to week, two was just like soaking and saturating my hair. That was including when i was plopping it making sure it was still like sopping wet. At that point i was used to very much like towel drying and squishing it out before and then after like pulling out the plop, i would love to see the curls and so i'd start scrunching them just to like give them a little life. But then i i figured out that that was really breaking up my clumps curls, so i decided to cut that out and then i started using the pixie diffuse technique. So in the first video you guys saw me do like the hover diffuse, which for me made my hair super frizzy and so the pixie. Is you pick all of the hair up with the dryer knot on then you turn it on when your hair is up. In the claw, and then you turn it off and then you take it down that makes so much sense, and that was one of the goals that we kind of talked about overall was like finding ways to get clumpy curls right, and i think we got that From ing e curls on instagram, or at least that was one girl that i followed a lot for that information. So if you guys want to know more about like clumpy versus not as clumpy curls, which is funny because one of the sides, my hair, has like taken to the clump method, and one of them is like still in this like scrunchie method. So you can see the difference on my head right now: you're beautiful in your own way. So let me just like walk you through really quick, my routine at this point. Okay and i'll update you as i go so week, two routine. I guess it's gon na shoot right over kaylee. So this point i'm washing my hair every two to three days. I shampooed out the roots i put in conditioner only at the ends and then i was detangling with that conditioner really soaked in there. Then you were doing the squish chicken dish life. That was the addition of week, two that yeah that was like. Okay, i'm gon na start applying my conditioner this way so squish chicken dish. Is you get all your conditioner in there and then you pick your hair up and really just like you grab onto it, and it makes this really like noise. The second you feel it you'll know what it's talking about: it's saturated with water, saturated with the conditioner and you're. Just it gets in there all right, so squish chicken dish. Then i was rinsing that out and plopping. Then, after my plop i put in leave-in, conditioner curl cream, then gel, and then i did my pixie diffuse and if the cast was really strong, i used oil to break it up, but i really wasn't using that intensive gel it wasn't. It wasn't creating that, like super firm cast like i saw on a lot of other people's videos, so i ended up kind of leaning more towards the oil to like reduce frizz yeah. I have a friend of mine that actually has really fine hair and does a little bit more of a cast, and so, instead of using like an oil oil, she uses like a spray like dry conditioner, which is really just a spray oil yeah, and it helps To remove the cast without like weighing your hair down at all, it's kind of good for, like a medium to light, cast right, um cast being like the hardened gel, so yeah for finer hair that can work. Super super well, yeah, good note! This week i was trying out the pineappling technique um, i gave it a long shot, but it just you know just no just it wasn't for me, but that's what i was doing and then, after my workouts in the morning i would take a body shower and Then just re-wet my curls at this point it still was quite a bit of re-wetting and diffusing wow um or i just gave it a little break for the day and wrapped it up in a little bun um, but that's okay. I really did like i had to compare it to when i was heat styling, my hair. I did not have bomb hair every single day. That'S true for me. Having that expectation, beautiful hair but yeah having that expectation of like every day, my curls are gon na, be just like fire. It'S a bit of a stretch. Yeah, i don't know anybody whose hair looks amazing every day. What i mean she's, probably the closest to it all right, so that brings us to week three three: were you feeling more confident, yeah feeling better? At that point, i'd taken off some of that stress, like i said, i addressed the fact that you know my hair. Doesn'T have to be full out every single day and i was giving myself some space to just breathe with it, which was very helpful yeah. I started to see some curls naturally forming up here at the top, which you can see yeah, like i remember seeing those for the first time and i got so excited yes, me too and like that was like honestly, the first little bit of gratification that i Got from this whole journey of like okay, it's paying off it's worth it yeah and guys. That was three weeks in that. I started to see anything, but that's okay, you're right! It'S not that bad! Okay, it's a long time when you're in it. I guess what i mean is: sometimes people talk about their transition period and it's like six months a year a year and a half. I see those pictures where it's like two years into the curly hair journey and i'm like i don't know if i can commit to something for two years like that. I do still think that this is a very big journey and like seeing like the littlest bit of curl at three weeks. Yes, that was that was good to be able to see that. But if you're, if you're talking about those big pictures, they've seen curl at the root they've seen curl through the ends they've seen like yeah performing on their own, like oh man, i know the dream so my week, three updated routine. At this point i was washing my hair every three to four days, which is good, starting to stretch out that time. I was doing a deep conditioning max on one of those okay, so this isn't the whole week one had a deep conditioning mask. One was just regular in the shower i added in doing my leave-in conditioner at the end of my shower, instead of after my plop, which actually helped a lot in the curl clumping endeavors. I think it really helped to sit in that microfiber towel with the conditioner on it. Oh, i could see that it would at least help with like frizz and stuff yeah too and like walk in the moisture all that kind of stuff i do have to say. I, like i, did a couple days where i tried to like, enhance my nails. She did. I have videos of it, it's so cute kaylee. Would you like to show the camera your hair hi? So today was just pete kaley. She fully fell into fomo for my curly girl method. Yesterday i did and once she saw that she had some waves, she decided to figure out how to get the waves yeah. Well, okay, this section right here this not heat styled. It actually worked out pretty well, but i noticed for myself the squish-dee-con dish, kind of thing really wet conditioner applications. Yes, that was the stuff that i immediately could see. My waves would go from being like really stretched out, like maybe in the two category, but more like a 1c to like definitely like in the twos yeah, and i was like okay like so that's that's what i can connect with yeah, and that is like the Conditioning and the squishing and the water it's key yeah and like way more water than you've ever used in your life. If you were like me before then, yes, like i had never, i was like yep. I have to get it wet enough to wash it but like that was pretty much it other than that. I was ready for it to be dry and petrified with heat yeah, but now we love water. Anna has her notes up over here. I'M looking at this picture from week three - and that was i remember this day, this felt like climbing a mountain yeah and the sense that, like your curls, took on their own, it wasn't as much like elbow grease trying to get it there. I do feel like it seems as though this is the first analogy. That'S popping into my mind where i was talking about when i was doing laser hair removal. I had to be so careful on every area because there were so many hairs and now that there's not as many hairs, i can just through it right. It'S like when your hair wasn't trained yet, and you didn't know what worked for your hair. Yet it took so long yeah, and this is the first time where we saw your hair, starting to kind of like do its own thing. Yeah for sure - and i think you know at this point - i was like what seven or eight showers in and once you do start doing all those steps it starts becoming more second nature. So definitely this was a very big week. For me, it was starting to really click starting to make sense after i would take down my plop and apply my cream and my gel. I was adding a little extra water in again at this point, which that was definitely a new addition, because before that i've been thinking like you know, the plop is to kind of dry it out, i'm going to take it down, but i noticed with doing that. Extra little spritz of water on some of the pieces that weren't clumping as well, it really helped them in the long run. So and then at that point i was also sleeping in a loose braid overnight with a soaked scrunchie on the end, and that is what works for my hair and it takes no time to put it in which is important for me, because i already have a Long nighttime routine, she loves her skincare routine, that's the one i landed on, but try everything everybody's different, all right, so that brings us to the don week four. So at this point, like i said, i was really feeling very natural. I was feeling a lot more like in a groove of it. The biggest thing that changed about this is, i pushed it to a week shower so i've only i've only been doing that showering wash day once a week and it's really been fine. I feel, like my roots, get way less oily now than they did when i heat style them. So that's really interesting. I don't know if that's a that's a thing for everybody, but it's definitely been something for me. Let us know in the comments yeah. Let me know, and then the refresh of my curls at that halfway point though i really did wet them a good bit, and then i put in leave-in conditioner, and i kind of had that moment where it's like. I wasn't fully washing my scalp but like that was definitely at that like midway point, i needed to put in a little extra love so leave in conditioner, then maybe a little more gel if it if it needed it yeah. It was really stretching out that time between the washes but yeah, that's awesome. That'S it i've kind of stuck with the same routine. I know there's a lot more, i could add in, but to prevent the colossal breakdown happening again. I was like all right. I'M going to just stick to just going to focus, focus on this plan, introduce small things at a time and and really master it and moving forward, there's so much time to like try different products and techniques, and things like that. But i really wanted to focus in on this 30 days of just yeah, seeing what my hair could do all right, so at the end of all of that yeah. How do you summarize 30 days? I think, all in all, i'm very glad that i did this. I think it was really good both like for my mental state and also for my hair. I think it was good to take that break and really take it down a notch and embrace the natural texture of my hair. I'M super glad that i did like actually commit to it on. You know your channel and on my social media and everything because, honestly, without that, i think i would have just stopped at a two week mark. It really was like super overwhelming at that point, because you just ran in so hard yeah, yeah yeah. That makes sense, and i feel, like that's really normal if you're trying something new and it feels like okay, if i, if i nail all of these, if i stick the landing, i'm gon na go from zero to sixty yeah and that's really not how it works. It'S not and it's it is scary, trying something new and, like you know, my entire life. I'Ve only been a shower and some hot tools away from bomb hair and all of a sudden there's so many variables, and i have no idea what my hair is going to look like yeah, really just like pushing past feeling uncomfortable has has been really good for Just like my mental health in general, so i really encourage you guys to do it. It was a lot of work, but i mean when it comes to your hair, why not? When it comes to being quarantined? Why not like this is a great time to to try it yeah and i also have other people, my life that are going on their own. Like you know, natural hair journey, and i found that not everybody rushes in so hard so fast. So not everybody has that point of exhaustion yeah. I love that about you, so i have zero problem with it. I just wanna like throw that out there. You know you find your routine and you work with it and you can modify it slightly right. The funny thing is with curly hair is that you think, because you're doing your natural texture, that is going to take less time right? No, no, not necessarily no, but you do also have the benefit of embracing your natural hair texture, which is really beautiful, and it feels a little bit rebellious still. It does, and i kind of love that for you, you love it. I do remember somebody commented on that very first video and was like 30 days. What do you expect to see me see in 30 days when i read that i was like 30 days is a lifetime? What am i talking about 30 days of changing my hair? I'M gon na be a new woman, but i do see now in the big picture of the journey of embracing your curly hair, like as far as results, go you're, not gon na see that in just the 30 days like i've seen some. But i know that if i did keep at this in a few years, that's when really like it really would start to click um. It does look good now, though, i'm really loving it now, it's really pretty. It looks healthy and shiny and happy. So all that said, what's your plan moving on oh loaded, question, i think that i really want to hold on to the things that i've liked throughout this process and really continue to embrace my natural texture in celebrating that and not feeling like, i always have to Heat style it, but i do want to kind of loosen the grip a little bit, i'm going to look for a a nice in between. I don't think i'm going to go like as intense as these past 30 days were for like the next two years yeah, but i do definitely want to spend a lot of time in my natural hair yeah, and i'm excited for that like i liked getting to Do a video with you and your natural hair, i think a lot of people like it in the comments too yeah yeah. So that's exciting. I'M glad that you're going to keep doing some more of this because, like this is really cool, it's been really cool. For me to watch, i feel, like i've learned a lot yeah, so thanks for being my guinea pig, of course, taking all the initiative and doing all the work, if you guys are thinking about doing it seriously, we'll leave some resources down below really big advice. For you guys is to find someone with similar hair textures as yours, because that is going to be the most beneficial there's such a spectrum and yeah there's knowledge to be learned all the way along. But like start with someone who's exactly like your hair texture, if you can yeah from there world's your oyster, whatever you want retweet alrighty, so that has been 30 days of your curly wavy hair journey. I guess we have to admit like this is waves? Yes, technically not curls, it is like well. Waves are a curl pattern, but yeah. I know i'm not i'm not saying that i am curly. I am on a wavy journey yeah, which we love yes, alrighty. Well, that has been the update. If you have questions for analar, you can put them in the comments i'll like let you take over the accounts and answer back to people. Oh, this will be fun yeah. Let me know any questions you got below or any more advice. You have on me going forward now that you've heard all of the tea about my hairs on my head yeah, but i think that is it for today's video. Every time we post a new video and that's it for today, whether you're, old or new or a casual lurker. Thank you for spending time with us and we'll see you in the next video mwah bye hold on. I lost the braid. Oh no exposed she's been exposed. This side really performed very well today, thanks hair uncomfortability, not a word yeah sure

Asquared27: As a proud member of the black natural hair community on behalf of us we accept your shoutout and are glad you’re learning from us and welcome you into the curly hair community! Glad you’re finding what works for you!

kw_possible: I know you had some face palm moments, but as someone who just started learning how to style my wavy hair it really helps to see someone who is also at the start of this learning process like me trying to learn how to do all this stuff :)

KJ Wrobel: kayley that braid looks GORGEOUS on you! my hair is like anna laura's, i'm super glad to see you guys learn about it!

Caroline Gordon: I’m so glad you stuck with it! Would you consider doing a detailed wavy hair routine video? Like essentially an updated version of the first one?

Liv L: I appreciate you guys taking a second to respect and appreciate where the knowledge of curly hair care comes from and thanks for passing this information great vid

Charity Thurman: I have a similar hair type, mine is a bit curlier, but when I notice a strand of hair not curling as tight as the others around it twirling it (while wet/damp) helps coax it in a tighter shape/kind of resets its pattern. Love the journey you’re doing and love the support you have from your sister throughout the journey too! My mom has curly hair but had no idea how to manage it, so I had to do my journey alone/alongside her

Nothing Rhymes With Megan: An easy way to reset your curl on day 2-5 is to dilute leave in conditioner in your water bottle, mist, and replop for a bit. <3

Allicyn Texeira: The saying goes “It takes 30 days to make a habit” so although you won’t necessarily see a lot of results by 30 days, you definitely see the start of them by 30 days. 30 days is that sweet spot to train yourself (hair, body, mind etc) to do something, so as you keep going on your journey, it’ll get a lot better

Samantha Cromer: Everyone starts somewhere in their curly/wavy hair journey and usually look back at the start with a face palm because you have learned what to do and what works for your hair. I love seeing Anna Laura's journey from the start. I love that you pointed out that sometimes hair isn't perfect and that that's ok.

Veronica Hernandez: I love these videos! I started embracing my waves in May. Accepting you only have wavy hair was difficult for me too because you’re learning from women who have curlier hair and I was getting frustrated that my 2B hair wasn’t looking like their 2C/3A hair Also a haircut was a game changer for me. Getting rid of dead ends and adding layers really helped my curl clumps

Julia B: Anna's hair actually looks soo pretty in the clip at the beginning of week 2 where she's having a meltdown lol it's voluminous and beachy! Just because your hair looks straighter some days doesn't mean it's bad. Wavy hair is cool because you can switch up your look easily (and sometimes involuntarily haha)

Shivangi Ranjan: I have almost the exact hair type and texture as Anna Laura, so this is really helpful. I’m really happy I was kind of able to join you on your hair journey. Lots of love from me to you!!

Fabiola Valeria: I have been in my curly hair journey for almost 2 years now and it's just now that i started to see what my actual curl pattern is and getting more curls at the roots (My hair type is 3b/3c). It has taken a lot of curl training (mostly finger coiling while DC). This whole journey is all about trial and error if im being honest. And yes, it IS super overwhelming, especially when your start trying to understand the whole moisture/protein balance, ph balance, porosity, density, texture, the million methods to style your hair, etc, etc, etc... And the first months (maybe even years) of the whole journey can be very rough depending on your hair, like i said in the beginning, it's been almost 2 years for me and just now im starting to feel okay with how my hair looks like and everything. It's hard bc it's almost inevitable to compare your hair and your journey with others and you see all those curly girls on IG with flawless curls and yours is a mess. But what makes me feel better is looking at pictures of my hair and how much it has changed over the months and years ever since i started my natural hair journey. You have to remember is that your curls are not gonna come back as soon as you start your journey, it's a process and it takes time. It's called "transition" for a reason and it can be quicker for some and slower for others. You have to understand that every curly hair is different, which means that every journey is going to be different too. What works for some it's not necessarily going to work for you (products, styling methods and everything else) and that's fine. You do you. Especially when it comes to the CGM, it doesn't work for everyone, you have to bend those rules a little bit the best it suits you. I think the only thing i would definitely not recommend is trying to put your hair in a pineapple bun if your hair is too long bc i don't know how it would work tbh xd It barely works for me when my hair length passes my shoulders. If i were you i would definitely try other method to protect my curls at night. The most important thing with this journey is to be patient. Your curls are gonna come back, try new things and learn what your hair likes and needs.

Kaitlyn Wieden: I originally tried the squish to condish in the hopes that my type 1 hair might actually get a wave. Of course it didn't, but I did find that my hair is shinier and feels a lot healthier! I always thought conditioner would work better with less water so it doesn't dilute the product but it actually helps to distribute it more evenly and I don't need to use as much conditioner. The curly girl method is helping everyone understand their hair type and how to care for it!

Zoe Totman: anna laura is SUCH a wonderful edition to this channel. its so nice to have her especially bc kaley seems more at ease with her around and they r so comedic together

Vanessa Hernandez: your wavy hair looks so gorgeous i love how you guys said curly hair needs to be exepted in the beauty world i have 3b hair and a I always hated it because every one around me had strait hair sorry for my spelling

Sara OConner: I love how beautiful your hair has been over this whole process. I was wondering if you could make a video of the current products that you are using and work well. I currently am trying to get me hair to a defined curl level but am not sure what products to use. Thanks for all of the tips in this video!

amy: You guys are GLOWING is your hair long enough to do a side braid now? Or is it extensions? Love the curly hair acknowledgement! Its cool how you guys are trying to learn new stuff and teaching it, its so important to learn more!

Abby Thompson: I love this so much! My hair is a little more curly than Anna Laura's and I totally relate to your journey! You can 100% find that nice in between. Thats how my hair lives. On the day to day I ware it natural but I am that girl who loves my hair styled with heat tools. My curls probably aren’t as pretty as they could be if i cut out heat but I still love them! I can live my life with hair that I'm happy with! Sometimes I feel like people emphasize the idea that its all or nothing and the only way to be happy with your curls is to jump in the deep end. I love the fact that you said that your heading down that middle road and glad to see that talked about!

Claire Stevens: My hair wave was like yours when I first started. I actually found out I had wavy hair when it rained one day and I got caught it in and waves were forming. Before this I would dry it and straighten it. I do find that not everything will work with the curly girl method on everyone. Especially not for me. My hair is fine, and so don't get frizzy much, I can actually control mine with the shampoo and conditioner I use. I found the best thing for more volume is to wash your hair with shampoo normally, then I tip my head upside down. Put some conditioner in and run a wide tooth comb through it. I then rinse it with my head upside still. Also if you want more of a cast. Put your leave in conditioner, then the gel with sopping wet hair. I do this now (minus the leave in conditioner) with the cantu define shine hair custard, then plop for as long as can, then take down and hair dry. To get rid of the cast, I just scrunch my hair when it's dry and the case will go. This has given me the best curls were its too the root now. Was amazed. Curly hair is a lot of trial and error. I don't also wear my hair curly all the time and so the curly routine. If I wash normally, then brush wet and let it dry. I get very small wave. When I'm at home I don't mind this, I also got fed up of the amount of effort it would take with curly hair. But I have a strangle texture. I can dry my hair poker straight and it would stay like that. I can make it wavy with the right products and scrunching and it will stay like that. Very strange. But still now ill try new products and techniques to see what works for my hair. Good luck xx

grace isabella: Yes have been waiting for this update for soo long ur hair looks so healthy and bouncy Anna. Xx

Claudia Drover: I love this! Anna Laura, you’ve inspired me to embrace my natural curls. I haven’t used heat in over a month and love my curls. I’ve spent most of my life hating my natural hair but now after learning to style it, I love it.Thank you Also, when I used to straighten my hair everyday, I had to wash my hair every 1-2 days because it was so oily. Now I can go 3-4 sometimes 5 days without any oil! Love you and your curly hair journey!

Catarina Alves: The transition to natural textured hair can be overwhelming and you feel like it's not worth it sometimes. But documenting the progress is great because you start to see results and it helps so much with motivation! Your hair looks stunning!

Stephanie Davidson: I’m so glad I found this video. I always thought my hair was straight and then I stopped heat styling and coloring it a couple years ago. Now the color is almost all gone and I noticed some wavy spots. I watched some videos and did something very similar to the first video but it waved all over and I was so excited. I’m like day 3 in now and it’s exciting to see the journey ahead. I actually grew out the color so I could perm it because I was tired of it being straight and fine and flat to my head. Discovering the waves I craved were there all along was such an amazing feeling. I’m glad you shared how you sleep because I was diffusing at night since I shower at night and my hair would be so flat by the time I woke up!

Jessica Mcguiggan: I’m trying it out too and my hair is doing the same thing where I put so much work into it and then looks dry and and frizzy gets really puffy! I am still working on figuring out what works best for my hair! I kinda have the same hair texture as you I love seeing this bc it makes me feel better love you guys!

Kelly Melanson: Thank you for sharing your experience. I am in my first week, plus I just cut off about 9 inches of my long over processed hair to help with the journey. So, it is harder to find a sleep method with shorter hair. It was so validating to hear that your curl/wave was falling out during the day too, after looking good in the morning. Also, validating to hear that you were wetting each day to reset. I hear ya, researching and seeing other's success can be such a double edge sword, your learn and at the same time wish it was as easy as the videos make it seem. I'm going to keep going and be flexible about it. Thank you both

Jessie Yan: I full on watched this video even though I have stick straight asian hair and I have no regrets. I have found some ways to get some heatless waves/curls but if I miss any hairs they stick (heh) out so bad Watching you two makes me want to call my sister and talk

Rachel Carnicelli: Wow I’m so glad I found this! I’m currently in week one with a very similar hair type and journey and feeling equally as overwhelmed! And I’ve completely rewet my hair every night this week! So hard not to run my fingers through my hair and working in a medical environment (loved the scrubs) I feel like there’s nothing to do but put them up then it’s just frizz city and I’ve never had very frizzy hair! I’m glad that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel! Thanks for sharing your journey!

Hailey Robb: Kayley, sometime could you do a video throughly explaining all the different hair types? It would be so helpful! All the love and good vibes to you and AL❤️

Cassidy Tate: I am roughly 6 months in CGM. Before that I was wearing my hair “natural” about 50% of the time just not paying attention to products or techniques. What really helped me get my hair to clump is wet styling, I put my leave-in in as well as any stylers and then plop my hair, the dry. This for me was a game changer cause clumps want to form the most when your hair is wet. Also a harder hold gel might also give you more longevity out of your curls.

Madikken Emmalie Zelda Thomsen: Hey AL! Love that you're trying to embrace the natural texture in your hair❤️ One tip: use a old t-shirt instead of a microfiber towel. It changed my life! The microfiber might make frizz (it kinda does for me). Good luck

Olivia Reader: I'm at 6 months on my curly girl journey, having started right at the beginning of lockdown. I look back at pictures from month 3 where I thought it looked amazing and it just doesn't compare! It is certainly time consuming but I have found a new level of confidence in embracing my true self. My work place have just started slowly returning to the office part time and 3 people have asked me if I got a perm! Glad you're starting to enjoy it. I feel you on the despair/hatred at week 2. When you put so much work in and then it just looks like crap is so frustrating!

Tracy: Thanks for sharing your journey with us Anna Laura, it’s great that you had such success so early! It took me 6 months to have a good wavy hair day! I’m 13 months into my journey and I’m still learning how to work with my unique texture. I love that you mentioned being bummed that your waves weren’t behaving like the videos you watched. That, more than anything, has been my biggest area of personal growth - throwing out preconceived notions of what I want my hair to look like and instead learning to nurture what nature is giving me.

Kacey Smith: I’ve also been going on a curly/wavy journey the past few weeks and I’m loving my natural texture and embracing it! Thank you for the inspiration!!!!!

Natalie Jenner: It's great to see this kind of curly content on your channel with your sis. I've had curly hair all my life and it's been a struggle to deal with up until a few years ago. Hair companies are finally catering to our hair type more and there are more stylists who finally know how to give me a haircut I love. I love my hair so much now. You guys are the cutest sisters on youtube in my opinion!

amandaruba: You’re the one that made me want to start my journey too and now I can’t imagine going back! I always fought with my curls but I’m so happy I saw your video and start with you! Learned new tricks yet again, thanks ladies!

Geepers _: I am really inconsistent with having my hair in its natural texture and I really want to see my hair at its full potential. My hair when I do wear it naturally is a little curlier than anna Laura's hair. this has really inspired me to wear it natural more, because I know it has some major potential.

Ewelina S: You are so kind to each other! Love that. This video poped up in the time when I was considering what to do with my wavy hair. I will follow your hints and try to have fun :) thank you so much for this video!

lizzy Church: This video came at the perfect time. I just started my curly journey 3 days ago. I’ve already been avoiding heat as much as possible over the past 4+ years but I finally broke down and bought a towel for my hair, a silk scarf for me to sleep in at night, and started applying products to my hair. I’m ready to see where this hair journey takes me and I’m happy to hear your feedback and hope I can learn a few things from your journey.

Daina Jenkins: All I can say is thank you thank you thank you this video came during my week one transition and I feel like you did at week two. I’m going to try the new methods you use and cross my fingers and pray to the hair gods that my hair will turn out half as good as yours. My husband loves my hair wavy even on a bad day so I’m really trying to stick to this method it is so hard I feel like I’m giving up all control !!!

Corrina Chisholm: First of all that braid is gorgeous! I’ve been so inspired by you both lately hair wise. I realized how good Kayley’s looked short and finally took the jump to chop off my super longer hair. I’m currently on my own wavy hair journey and was so excited for an update from Anna Laura!

Lisa R: AnnaLaura, you look so pretty, and your hair looks happy and healthy! I love the comparison between your hair journey and Kayley's make-up one from the previous video. It's TOTALLY a thing that your scalp oils start to balance out and you can go longer without washing. After I started taking proper care of my hair (nearly a decade ago now...), I went from 3 showers/week down to one. I also have zero patience for redoing my hair on the daily so I have accepted that days 1-3/4 will be pretty on their own with minor touch-ups and days 3/4-7 are a series of progressively upper hairstyles (half-up -> ponytail -> full updo). It's important to find a routine you are happy with and that's sustainable for the long term so you don't flame out. This is a long journey, and we're all on it -- and figuring out what works best for our individual hairs-- together!

Carolina Sousa: AnnaLaura, your hair looks great! I am so proud of you. I hope you'll continue on your wavy/curly journey and, as your hair grows, you'll get to see even more of a change bc it's new hair that wasn't taught how to shape itself by hot tools.

Tina: Yes I have been so excited for this update! You stuck through and what you learned about what works for you seems worth it to have pushed through So encouraging as I'm working on finding what works for me too.

Raquel U: I started my curly hair journey soon after Anna, and I am still learning a lot, so this video was really helpful!

Rickie Bee: One thing that really helped me when I went back to my 2b/2c waves was a hair cut! My ends had so much damage from bleach and heat and as soon as the damaged parts came off, the waves came back better than ever. A haircut also helps to give your hair a bit of shape so that the waves lay nicely instead of the dreaded pyramid head! :) You look great, Anna Laura!

Maria Pia Binetti: Hey, I am coming back here to say that after just 1 week of this routine I have fallen in love with my waves! Thank you, I feel like a brand new person ❤️

Avila Cranfill: Your previous video inspired me to start my own way hair journey! My results are mediocre at best but I feel like I'm seeing small improvements after each wash day. Working from home is definitely making the transition less frustrating ❤️

Brittany Rose: thank you so much for this! I started my curly journey right after and I have spent the last month really thinking about my self worth and everything having to do with that and my hair. I have spent so long straightening my hair every day and being something that I am not. I really thank both of you for that so much, I love my hair only after a month and cannot wait for the next. Thank you so much.

ApostolicLady18: Thank you for doing this video. I have naturally curly hair but for years I’ve always wanted it straight. It feels so good to see more curly girl videos and it being embraced. I hope you guys do more videos like this :)

Shelby Blattner: I’ve been working on my curly hair journey during quarantine too! I started in March and recently I have been occasionally heat styling my hair for special occasions and I have noticed that when I wear my hair straight or curled with an iron, my hair gets oily after 2 days but when I wear it natural it takes at least a week to get oily! Weird thing lol good luck on your journey!

Kc: Love love LOVE how Kayley's hair is getting longer again! Super excited to get styling and product ideas for fine long hair

mce1939: Love it! So beautiful, either way. I've had curly hair since I was 13 and I love it! I've never once straightened it and I use no heat and I wash every day and I have never colored it (going gray naturally and rocking it!). I don't follow any "rules." I just do whatever the heck I want. My hair survived perms and big bangs as a kid in the 80s, so I feel like I've earned the right to do whatever the heck I want with my curls. :) :) Don't underestimate the power of a good curly haircut! Go to a stylist that is great at cutting curly hair. Long layers are your friend. I feel like super long hair does weigh the curls down, so don't be afraid to take some length off and you will often see a dramatic difference in the curls. Happy curly journey!!

Adelaide Asselstine: You’ve given me hope with my own hair! I had given up on trying to deal with my wavy hair but I think I’m gonna give it another go!

Μαρία Χρυσάφη: I just watched the video! After months of trying, I finally found out that applying the styling products before plopping makes a huge difference! After washing my hair, I use a microfiber towel or an old t-shirt in order for my hair not to be dripping wet and apply my products (leave in, hair oil, curl conditioning mousse and air dry gel) , then plop and air dry or diffuse if it is winter! And finally my hair are bouncy, healthy and so soft to touch! It doesn't even need to be scrunched out after diffusing! I hope Ana Laura to find the best routine for you as soon as possible!! Love from Greece! Stay safe!

Morgan Herman: This was super encouraging for me! I am a few weeks into my curly journey and am still figuring out what works best

Liz 2184: Nice, I started the curly girl method when quarantine started too. It was perfect because I didn’t have to go out on the bad hair days. I’m loving it now though. Your hair is looking great! I’m curious to see what it does in a year.

Brittain White: It’s been really fun to watch your hair journey! We have very similar waves so I’ll definitely be trying a few new things!

MrsJShepherd1: I've got wavy/curly hair, and I've been on some form of cgm for about 15 years. You never stop learning new tips & techniques, but you do learn how your hair would respond to them. Some things I see and I just *know* they wouldn't work on my hair. I also never straighten my hair - pre-cgm I used to straighten it every day. Now I look weird & not like myself if my hair is straight

Crowned Lily: I've been 3 years in, and only started getting more curls/waves at the roots. Not until I started using my denman brush. I have 2b/2c/3a hair.

Sarah Spafford: Awe! I love your hair now! I have been doing this with my hair for the past few months and I'm just starting to get the curls to clump. I have baby fine wavyish hair. I say that because I have some waves and some curls. I'm so happy to see you try to do this.

fictionalhuman: AL, your hair is totally looking BOMB! I’m so glad you have embraced the curl!

Addie Martineau: That outtro was so adorable!!! You girls always brighten my day!

Lily Goodwin: My hair is starting to become wavier and I'm trying to work with what I have to make it something I feel confident in. It's really encouraging to see you do the same.

Darcy Reads Sometimes: My hair definitely looks less greasy when I style it wavy. I do still wash it, probably about every three days. I see you use a braid to sleep on - something to try if you're interested is incorporating a claw clip. I usually sleep with the front pieces pulled back loosely with a claw clip to encourage volume and reduce breakage (my hair is pretty fine), and then I pull my hair into, like, a half-up pineapple. But the claw clip + braid combo might work out for you? Take it or leave it. :)

Rachel Salazar: The best thing I’ve learned from my curly journey is patience!! If you used to use a lot of heat it takes your hair a long time to heal. Also I have very similar texture to yours is wavy with some curls. I can’t wet refresh I only shake out my hair from my pineapple and add some oil if I need it and dry shampoo if needed. You will find out what works for you and what doesn’t. It’s so good you are documenting everything before you know it you will have your products you can’t live without a routine down!!

megan hunter: In love with your hair and this journey. The things you guys do to keep us entertained. Thank you, you beautiful angels you :)

cam eni: I've always loved your videos, but this one... I'm in looove, I am still transitioning but looove to hear that I am not crazy with my curly journey...♥️♥️

jessie mellott: I'm like 5 months into my wavy/curly hair journey and I still think I have a ways to go. It took a while for my hair to be more willing to absorb product because product wasn't someone who used that before and my hair was not used to it. I am just now seeing my curls form without as much effort and my resets actually somewhat resemble my day 1 styled hair. This process has helped to feel like my natural hair is my done hair and that I don't need to heat style or braid it for it to look good. I think it is so nice to see someone else transitioning and not showing only the perfect hair days online. I hope you continue to share your journey.

Sophie Faulkner: I can't wait to be able to start my own hair journey. I have extremely similar hair and have been waiting for this video. ❤️

Kitty Rodriguez: I love your waves it looks so soft and healthy!!! Now you have me wanting to try the curly hair journeyyyyy lol

Cindy Witty: I've been doing this Curly Girl styling since March, and it's taking me until now to notice curls w/o frizzing. But, if there's humidity in the air- I'm done. It is so difficult not to have curl envy. Keep it up, and continue to use a heat protectant bc diffusing can always be used. I love Aveda Brilliant- my fav. I also use a soft pillow case to remove my cast. Good luck- your hair looks Fantabulous!

Selma Sisic: I am starting my natural curls journey and this video was very helpful. Thank you both!

Hannah Voudrie: When you did the first video of finding out your natural hair texture it inspire me to also find out what mine was. I knew it was a little wavy but didn’t realize that my hair is 2c. I jumped off the deep end and watched 5,000 videos and it was A LOT the first few days of trying to do everything that I saw. I quickly decided not to try everything and get the most fabulous hair but to instead focus on finding a routine that works with my schedule and life style (I’m a distance runner, dancer and work over 40 hours a week). There’s no point in me finding a hair routine that works for my hair but not for my schedule. After trial and error I’ve gotten to where my hair takes 15 mins in the morning (10 being a plop) and letting it air dry on my way to work in the mornings. It’s actually quicker for me to do this routine than before when I had to use heat. Thank you for making these videos and inspiring me to find my natural hair texture!

Clau Panquecito: I've been in my journey for 7 months, and I continue seeing improvement...so you'll see a lot more!!

Jaime Brooke30: Thanks for sharing your wavy hair journey! I am going slow with my wavy hair journey. I have waves at the ends, and hopefully more waves will develop toward the roots.

Kaila Shepherd: I have loved seeing Anna Laura's hair journey! It has been great to see someone with curly/wavy hair on my youtube because not many people have similar hair to my own. I would love to try and go on a curly hair journey but i am also not entirely sure that I am ready to set my straighteners to the side just yet. So thank you for this video :D On another note, I wanted to say that I noticed that Anna Laura used the term 'spaz out' to describe her hair and while I completely get what you meant Anna, I wanted to say that sadly that word is not exactly a kind one and is often used against people with disabilities both physical and learning. I know that no harm was meant by it but I also know that you both are so careful and caring that I thought it was worth mentioning as it can upset some people. Can't wait for the next video :D

Alyni Crespilho: I transitioned for 11 months, got my BC done 3 years ago. It is a learning curve but love my 4a ish hair haha. You hair looks adorable

Olivia Contreras: YouTube recommendations are on point rn haha I'm 2 weeks into my wavy hair journey and I'm going through the same stufffff this is definitely what I needed to keep going so thank you!!

Elaine Bartholomew: I love your natural curls, even after 30 days!! Inspirational video thanks ♥️

Julia Macleod: a great way to save some time in the morning is a stem refresh. When you get in the shower clip your hair up or in a bun and right before you are getting out, turn your hair upside down and just scrunch your hair with dry hands or a small bit of oil while the shower is still running to get the steam. the steam will help to soften your hair and awaken your hair without re wetting your hair. If you want to fix some curls to make the hair look great use a clip barrel that matches or is close to your curls and just curl those stubborn pieces, this method is great when you don't want to spend hours re doing your hair from start to finish.

Delaney Womer: I've started a curly hair journey so many times and stopped due to frustration. This video makes me want to start again and really stick through it.

Lilly Walling: I’ve been trying the wavy method for the past 3 days and I’m realizing my texture Is a lot like yours! I’m rewatching this video for tips now

C.M.: I'm a couple years in and have JUST started to feel like I'm where I need to be with products. One of the big things for me was keeping my head upside down from wetting it until I add products right before I diffuse. I also figured out my hair needs a lot more protein than moisture (it's really fine and low porosity.) There's some good articles on moisture/protein balance. It's really helped to get the weight off my curls and let them spring up. I haven't been able to find any influencers with similar hair as me so it's been difficult! Current products: Carol's daughter cactus Rose water shampoo and conditioner Carol's daughter black vanilla leave in Mop top curly hair custard Jessiecurl spiralicious

Erin Krening: Biggest question: How do you preserve curls when you workout????

Madison Stewart: You both help me discover my beautiful waves! Seeing your start got me thinking about my hair and I never want to turn back! ❤️

Juliane: Thank you for show how hard a curly girl journey can! I try it myself a while ago. But quit after like 3 month or so. Because my hair was so tangled at the end of the day. How do you handling not brushing your hair everyday? Lots of love from Germany

Sammie G _: I hope you keep embracing your natural waves! You hair looks amazing!! Please do more wavy hair videos!!!

Shawna Martin: Excited to see the hair strand test in comparison to before you started your journey! So excited to see more updates in the future your hair looks awesome now!

Ameriah Harlan: Omigoodness!!! I'm on day 16 of curly hair and I'm STRUGGLING!!! The first week for me was pretty good and now my hair just seems confused. It falls throughout the day and I'm not sure how to keep it intact.

Meghan McGowan: Your hair looks great! You might find it helpful in terms of refreshing your hair on non-wash days to just wet your hands and run them over the top canopy of your hair and then maybe run a little watered down curl cream over that section with your hands and scrunch, that's what I do! (or I just wear my hair half up so that only the under-layers that don't look as tired are showing lol) I found that the longer I wore my hair curly, the more robust the curl became and they could stand up to a lot more handling. When I first started, I developed a reflex of swatting people's hands away from my hair because they all wanted to run their fingers through it and that'd ruin it for the day, but now it can stay nice through a fair amount of touching, so in time you might find that your hair doesn't get messed up by you touching it or flipping it as much!

Dee Jay: Great Video. Keep it up with the curliness. I did all those curly things you guys did on my uber frizzy hair and, for me, I found the wet brush was the magic. I did the super squishiness for the combination of curl cream and mouse/gel but it was only when I purchased not the original wet brush but the curvy rectangular one that I found using it the curls came automatically. In fact one of the girls at work said on my second hair day that my curls were curlier than yesterday. woot woot ;-) xx

Little Larks: This was SO helpful for me!Lauras (sorry if I spelled wrong) curl pattern is almost identical to mine, and Before her I had yet to find ONE person who had the more wavy and curly at same time hair!Thank you guys so so much!

yolo: I have a proposition: whenever you feel ready try cutting off the bleach damage and also try a layered cut, it will lift your curls up so so much and give you incredible volume. I did that and I could never go back

Carlyn Jenkins: This was a wonderful vid! I get really discouraged because my hair has always been pin straight. Now, not so much. When wet and scrunched I can see clumpy waves and curls but when it dries it goes crazy. Any tips from fellows in the comments?♥️

The Kazoo Queen: I have big, loose coil curls. My curls usually look better the longer I go without resetting them. Everyone's hair is different, but try a week without resetting them with water and see what happens!

Coco21: This is so great for you guys!!! I am so happy to see your journey!!! My mom is a cosmetologist and would agree that she wasn't taught the thin the youtube rabbit hole did. We have similar hair texture for curl except mine is thin due to alopecia. If dont already have one, get a wet brush. Epic Professional Quick Dry Hair Brush https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BE8XJOK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6TFzFbH3DTZ8Y. Use this with your conditioner in in the shower before you rinse. Also, get a perfect hair care towel Ultra-Fine Microfiber Hair Towel Wrap - The Perfect Haircare - Anti-frizz Fast Drying Turban with Wet/Dry Brush https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079P9CK2H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fVFzFbRJD7GAH and use this to scrunch in everything but your conditioner. I use praying hands for gel and this is my holy grail BioSilk Rock Hard Gel, 6 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B5PEU50/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zWFzFbNW3AT4M I also love curl cream and curl refresh foam from not your mothers curly line of products. You still don't seem to be using enough gel. Watch this video to see what I mean as this chick has thick hair, and she is also a genius. I will have to leave her video in the comments. Never...ever... scrunch your hair with your hands. Try to touch it only to apply products, and then only break the cast with the hair care towel. I know this is a lot, but this video changed my journey the most. I am now a 3a on most days! She's curly!! Love you gals and that you are friends and sisters. You both have beautiful hair!

Kristen Zeitler: I started my curly journey after watching your video a month ago. I was pretty consistent with it for about two weeks and was seeing some very good results but then I had to go back to the classroom and in the end it just takes too long. I am continuing to use a few of the tips but as of now haven’t figured out a way to make it work without spending two hours on my hair every morning which I can’t do. Great video ladies! Love your content.

Megan Berbaum: Your curly journey was so cool too follow and learn from. I discovered I had wavy hair after braiding my hair while it was wet. I think my next step is to look more into the products I use. What are your go to shampoos /conditioners?

Brina F: Anna Laura, your hair looks absolutely GORGEOUS!!! ❤️
