Hello, my lovelies and welcome back to another video today we're talking all about hair sprays. Do you apply your hair spray before you curl your hair, or do you apply your hair spray after you curl your hair? Today, i'm going to test the two and see which one produces the best results throughout the day which curls last longer, which curls look better all that good stuff. And, of course, i want to thank ulta beauty for sponsoring this video who are running their hair heroes trend for the month of july. It'S all about hair sprays, who doesn't love hairspray. So how i'm going to do this? I'M going to spray hairspray on my left side. First before i curl the hair and then on the right side, i'm going to spray the hairspray once i'm done, curling the hair. Let'S begin for the hairspray, i'm using the chi. This is their enviro 54 hairspray. I like this one, because it's very versatile type of hairspray, it's a very weightless, but it still adds a lot of hold and shine to your hair, so tip number one more is not always better, especially with hairspray. You want to have even distribution i'll show you guys how i do that and the second tip i like to spray each section before i go in and then to even distribution. I take a small little comb and i brush the hairspray out before i go in and curl the hair and make sure you hold a hairspray can at least 10 to 12 inches away from your hair, because you want a very light mist. So at least 10 to 12 inches away and i'm doing very light spritz and then take a comb and just brush out through the hair to get even distribution and then curl the hair and so for the right side. This is where i go in and curl the hair first and then apply my hairspray. My next tip is once i finish, curl a hair while it's still warm that's when i go and apply a very light layer of hairspray to that section that i curled all right. Let'S move on and do the same, exact thing to each side, so some other really great hairspray alternatives for what i'm doing you want that versatile type of hairspray that you can still use and kind of brush out at the very end with your fingers, a really Good option is the kendra volume spray i like that it gives volume, it's still really nice and strong hold, and i can still work through it as well and another great option is the bed head tji their masterpiece hairspray. I like that one because it gives you really intense shine but really strong, hold as well and then another option i like, if i'm doing curling my hair first and then applying hairspray. I really like the redken they're fashion work 12 that one it's not as shiny. So if you like, more of a matte like a semi-matte finish, that one is definitely for you, but i really like how versatile it is. It'S very pliable on your hair, and it's just very comfortable to work with. Another tip is if your hair has a hard time holding the curl, try hairspray. So now that i'm done curling my hair and i apply the last bit of hairspray. The next tip. Is you really want to make sure you let your hair settle and do its thing? So the first thing is, you want to make sure the hair is cooled off completely from the heat and then the next thing you want to make sure the hairspray is nice and dry in the hair. So that way before you go tussle it. The hair is nice and settled. I do want to mention another thing about hairsprays, because there are so many different types of hairsprays. You have the super, the very touchable, the very lightweight types of hairsprays, for example the sexy hair they're, so touchable hairspray. This one is really great if you do want a little bit of hold, but you still want to be really manageable with it. You don't want to have that like crunchy feeling that really type of stronghold hairspray, this one is really great, and you have something like this. This one is one of my favorites for a really strong holds hairspray the sebastian shaper plus this one is really strong cold. So when you're using a really strong cold hairspray, you want to make sure you apply it after you're done styling, for example, if you are going to brush out your hair after you curl your hair, like this, you want to make sure you brush it out and Then you very quickly apply hairspray, because if you use a very intense, strong, cold hair spray, a lot of the times you're gon na break it apart and it's gon na lose its intensity. If that's, what you're going for that's totally fine, but if you want something super strong go for something like this to really lock in your hairstyle all right. So, let's break apart the hair. Very gently, though, because we want to be careful to not break apart the hairspray all that much so that's the next tip don't use a hairbrush unless that's what you're going for and then you're going to apply extra hairspray. On top of that, so keep in mind of what you're trying to do with your hairstyle, i'm just gon na flip, my head upside down and kind of work, the roots. So it's a little bit more separated all right. Now that i'm happy with it, as you can see, the curls still have a lot of bounce to them. They have shine and they don't look crunchy. Now i'm going to go on with my day, i'm going to do quick, little check-ins on my phone every so couple of hours, just to see how the hair is holding up, how the curls are lasting. All that good stuff, it's several hours later, first check in i'm looking and the curls look very similar. I feel like the left side. The curls are a little bit more tighter, a little bit more defined, but very, very small differences overall. They both look very similar and, i think they're, holding up pretty good. My curls will fall out to more of a very slight bend very slight wave by the end of the day. Just because i used a bigger barrel, all right, i'm gon na, actually make some early dinner for us, and then i will check in after dinner to see how the hair looks like if there are any bigger differences and i'll see you guys soon, all right, i'm Just doing a quick check-in, it is, i think, it's already almost six o'clock just sitting here: cleaning up the office space a little bit and basically just after dinner, doing a quick check-in. Like i said, i was gon na check in after dinner, and this is what the hair is looking like right now. I think it looks still pretty good. I feel like on the right side um. I think they still look pretty, even even though i feel like left side, maybe has a little bit more definition. I think i'm gon na do two more check-ins. I think i'll do one right before we go to the gym and then i'll do the very final one after the gym. When we come back home, we just got to the gym. It'S literally 9 20 at night super late session yeah. But you know what better late than never. So, let's see the hair. I told andre right away the left side. It still has a lot more definition: the curl versus the right side, the waves, it's not a curl. Now it's more of a wave. It'S very soft! I think they both still look really great, and this hair is going up into a ponytail because we are doing a little bit of quads today, quads and calves. Alright i'll see you guys after my workout, you guys ready for the last update. I'M excited to see what the hair looks like. We were in the gym, a total of 39 minutes, so nice and quick hair is a hot mess yeah. You can already see such a huge difference from the left to the right side. Even just looking at like this, the right side has a more of a wave, a very soft wave. This left side is still a little bit more defined. I would say even in the front pieces just looking throughout, so what i'm noticing on my hair right now with this experiment that we did today when i applied the hairspray before i curled the hair on each individual section, the curls lasted a little bit longer throughout The day and they stayed more defined throughout the day, but sometimes i don't have the time to use hairspray on every single section, so i'll just do it afterwards, and i'm good with that. I hope this gives you some insight and the application of how you apply your hairspray, either before curling your hair or applying it after you curl your hair. If you guys want to see what the hair looks like brushed out, this is what we have still looks. So good yeah, i can see a bigger difference. There'S a lot more curl happening here instead of on this side, and that completes the video you guys thank you again to ulta beauty who are running their hair heroes trend for the july. Again, it's all about hair sprays check out any one of these six options that i mentioned throughout the video. They all offer something to your hair life, but for now you guys thank you so much for watching, and i will see you in another one very soon. Bye

yx the weird: Now this is the type of sponsored video I can get behind! You're doing an interesting test and teaching us something useful, not merely pushing ulta products. I feel like too many brands in sponsored vids have the influencer talk too much about their stuff - it starts to feel like shilling. Guess it helps that ulta is so well known..

MathandMakeup: Love this!!!! Congrats on the Ulta beauty promotion thingy! Love Ulta and your channel :-) I learn something new EACH time

GretchenVaughn: Nothing beats Redken Iron Shape 11 for curls for me. It also seems that if I use Living Proof 5 in 1 cream on wet hair, curling iron curls also take well the next day (I always wash my hair at night). I also love Puff Me powder to keep curls volumized and in place. Kenra Volume 25 hairspray actually works at 30 mph as promised.

Phyllis Alexander: Thank you doing this as it is something I always wanted to know -- very helpful & useful -- love your videos!

Nin: Your hair always looks put together and polished! I am going to use hairspray again, I don’t know why I’ve stopped using it when I curl my hair!!

ivi122: Great video! Love how you describe every spray and if they make your hair shiny or not

Jenga: Girl! I grew up in New Jersey in the 80s....we sprayed that shit before, during AND after

JayCee Mitchell: My rave or aqua net has always been my go to. I have long hair (to my butt) and a lot and it's heavy. I always spray before and after. But I also hold my curls to my head to cool before i let them down that's just what works for my hair though

Liliane Lelis Oliveira: Very nice video, Milabu!!! This tool is great and I really would love having one!!! Thanks for the video!

Tamara Morton: This was helpful, probably more so than I would have thought because I've always been too afraid to use hair spray before I curl my hair. I thought the hairspray would, possibly, penetrate my hair more so than afterwards, damaging my hair. Thank you!

Dezarae I: I love the Aveda Control Force hair spray for before I curl. I spray my whole head, brush it out, then curl. Its very strong hold but a dry non sticky spray. Then after I curly I use Aveda Air Control for a light hold & texture or their texture tonic. It's their version of a sea salt spray but it's not stiff or sticky. Gives that lovely beach wave look. & next day when my curks start to fall flat, I spray in texture tonic & scrunch. All my curls come right back! Love!!

Melissa A: EVERYONE PLEASE READ: MOST HAIRSPRAYS ARE HIGHLY FLAMMABLE SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL

Yvonne Charneskey: Sebastian also makes an anti-humidity hairspray which is great for Florida. But you would treat it like a super hold after you’re finished application.

HalloLori Vang: I spray my hair with hair spray before curling because my hair refuses to hold a curl. My friend, who happens to be a hair stylist, told me it’s very bad for your hair health, but nothing else works for me. Also, I’ve never had buildup on my curling iron from spraying my hair first.

Sara Papamarcos: Dont usually comment but I have to say you read my mind as far as topic! Thank you for also talking us through how to apply the hairspray for curling since I had been wondering.

A -: I feel you have evolved your channel so much. I think a fun video idea would be reacting to your first video!

Kaylin Young: Ideally something with heat protection and hold should be used before you curl, like redken hotsets, chi iron guard, kenra hot spray, etc. Then a light mist of hairspray after (if you're in the east something with anti humidity properties is optimum). Hairspray has the hold... but not the protection.

Samantha Jo: Idk if anyone will see this but I know there are some people worried about damage to your hair! I recently picked up the Redken Hot Sets 22. It has thermal protection as well as a really strong hold. It definitely adds a grip to your hair but I just make sure to brush my hair before I curl or straighten

Hetty L Lyle: Thank you and your husband for your abundant energy and cuteness. I would like to adopt both of you. Your videos are fun and informative. Question: are you ever planning on having children, a dog or a cat? LOL

Iyana Cantrell: Very helpful! I was wondering if I should spray before or after. Btw, what curling iron did you use in this video?

K K: I don't use any hairspray ever. I have a heat protectant that gives enough hold for the curl and afterwards I use a bit of a texturizing powder or spray. Works great for my hair

PM Fore: I have a metric TON of very fine hair. In the late 90’s my work required me to be in and out of doors in humidity, sometimes rain, all the while dressed in business casual. My hair was just above shoulder length with my fav Meg Ryan layers. Am I dating myself? Lol! Every morning was a date with Aussie Instant Freeze and my 1 1/2” barrel curling iron. I sprayed each curl before curling, and I did it from root to tip, pulling the hair straight up from the scalp to and starting from my scalp (frizzy hair naturally, this was how I smoothed my hair as I curled it while getting BOMB volume) & I was good enough at it to have no crease at the roots! I left these stiff curls as is until just before leaving the house for work. Finger combing gave me an awesome look and kept it from falling and frizzing through sometimes 14 hours of work. Anyone else remember the original Aussie Instant Freeze?!? You could Bride-of-Frankenstein your hair instantly with that stuff!

mis dian: Thank you Milabu, this video is great and so helpful!

Sheeba Khan: I think each section requires more hair spray and the difference isn't so much to justify time and amount of hair spray

BeautyAndTech: I only ever curl my hair with the airwrap and to be honest the ghd curl hold heat protected spray is enough for me. So I don’t really use hairspray with any kind of styling tool. I have a good friend who used to spray and then straighten, she did the same with curling wand a year or so ago and the the strand burnt right off her head. If using extreme heat like ghds or a curling iron I won’t use any type of flammable product like hairspray before applying extreme heat. I’m also clumsy enough to know hit hair tools and flammable cans on the counter with each while I’m using them prob isn’t a good idea for me as I’d tip the can over and cause an explosion or something.

mce1939: Great, practical info. I have naturally curly hair and use no heat on it. I use a little hair spray when it's damp and do a little scrunching up.

MrsLoretta: I love how your hair looks..Your videos are always so interesting...xoxox Loretta

Julie Colleran: Hi!! I use Kenra Thermal Styling Spray or Redken Iron Shape 11, these are not hairsprays but they protect from heat and once I wrap my hair in the iron, I spray each section. These products give a hold, but a hold you can run your fingers through. Once I am done, I then spray with regular hairspray. My curls stay all day! I know this is a hairspray video, but I just have to share these great products as I have always struggled with my curls staying, but no more! Thanks for this great video as always!

Debbie Chambers: I like the look of the beachwaver hair tool; you make it seem so easy to use! I haven't seen it here in the U.K. though I love your videos! xx

Tanya Peterson: i think that if you are going to use the spray first make sure afterwards when your hot curling iron has completely cool off! clean them so you won't have build up on them!

Christi Blomberg: I would Love to see a video if hairspray damages your hair to use it before u curl or not? Love your videos!!!❤

Sandra Bosch: I have naturally curly ,2c, hair. I use the wand from time to time. No way could I have touched my hair as much as you did. I use hairspray. And all that touchy touch woulda made it straight and semi frizzy.

Al_: super helpful! Also, congratulations! ❤️

maria exito: Thank you so much! it helps me a lot!❤

Jessica Rugg: I feel like my curling iron would just get coated in hairspray if I put it on first

Amberger Helper: I appreciate you clearly stating sponsorships. You can get Chi at Marshall’s/ TJ Max for less. ☺️

Julia Pasnyk: How do you keep your hair from tangling after curling?

Donna: You added less spray to the right side. On the left you spritz 3-4 times on each section. On the right the whole half got much less.

sophie ze: please do a video on how to deal with fine hair And please share your tips and tricks❤

Lynda Joko: Do you think that spraying your hair before curling is more damaging to the hair?

Desi Hansen: Okay I love watching your videos. What do you use to help with the growth of your hair? Or can you give advice on what to use?

Gardener Hands: Now here is a good question! Before seems to weigh it down..on my hair at least

Cheryl Kinney: That curling iron is absolutely AWESOME! What brand is it??

Rachel: I do before lightly, then comb through my hair, curl and finger style. My hair takes curls easily tho

Reem Khatib: I honestly love your channel so much

LittleMama2020: If I could have mastered the old school clip curling irons I would have had to do it before and after

Tanya Peterson: oh and thank you so much for the video it is very helpful!

Dhiya Alesha Al Zahsy: I have tried several sprays but have never succeeded and returned straight. I don't know why. It's better for me not to use because it becomes more awake for my curls

Marge Burkell: I know you partnered with ULTA about hairsprays for this video but there are other products that work far better than hairspray for locking in curl… I hope you do a video about them soon as ULTA carries those also.

Angelica Palomino: I am curious, did you still use a heat protectant before all of this?

Beauty By Hailee: Love the videos!

stacie robertson: What is your favorite curling iron for medium length hair?

Leonita Harijanto: thank you for the video, i really like your hair especially the colour :)

Hanami Octavia: I prefer both. But when I'm lazy I just blow dry my hair and spray on my hair comb

Sandrea White: What curling iron are you using? Awesome video.

Sandi Sue Designs: I spray the entire section and then section and curl and get good results. ‍♀️

Natalie Degand: I want a hairspray that won't make my hair feel sticky and weird

Nicole Henry: I wish my hair grew as fast as yours. Any secrets?

CountRegis: My hair always gets matted and tangled throughout the day when using hairspray :/

CAROLE FREEMAN: What curling iron did you use?

Lora Macks: I need that curling iron!!!! Where can I get it under $100

Aamna Khan: Whenever i spray after i feel like the spray weighs my hair down and it loses its curl :/ i have very fine hair ... will try spraying before..

lady luck: I've never found anything better than Tresemme Frezze Hold.

bernadettes41: Can you make a video about how you clean your heating tools, brushes and combs to get all the hairspray and gunk off?

Jennifer Lumbra: I have that same curling iron, but I have the hardest time making it work and I def can’t get my hair to look like yours using it.

Pamela Hough: I don't know if it's just me but you have a very warm friendly smile

Martina: Does anyone know where I can find the autorotating iron she’s using? Thanks ❤️

I'm WWinning: Great video! What hair tie are you using? TY :)

Sarah Grace: You should try spraying your hair before and after❤

Emma Brewer: So glad I found this video :)

Dr.Haritha Padmadas: @malibu I thought you should know .Praluxe is using your video (review of the Revlon styler ) to promote their product .

Kaori Tachibana: thanks a lot for this information. i really needed it

Laura McCabe: Can you give some shampoo/conditioner recommendations based on hair type? I want to get a jumbo during the Ulta hair sale but I don't know which would be good for my hair.

Siobhán K.: It would seem like skipping the hairspray all together would be just fine. Didn’t seem to do much of anything at all in the end.

Silver D.T: I really want to know the brand of the curling iron you are using in this video. :)

s: prom is tomorrow so this is perfect!

Janaina Silva: When u live outside the United states and feel like every good product is only available in US

Antima Joshi: So do u curl your hair again the next day(every other day)?

Amanda Webb: Does the T3 really give curls that last for days??

Michelle Marie: I wanna see someone use hairspray before using a waver not curler to see if it holds better and longer

Arin Rohrbach: Do you have naturally straight hair? My hair is naturally curly so I blow dry it straight and then curl it. My curls look way more curly than yours by the end of the day so I wondered if it was because even though I blow dry it straight I have naturally curly hair. They do loosen up throughout the day but yours was almost straight whereas mine is still curly even after sleeping on it and I use the same size barrel. Super curious is hair texture would be the reason.

Robyn Schneider: What curling iron are you using?

Nhung Do: Hello Milabu. Can you please tell me the name of the hair curler that you used in this video ? Thanks in advance

Danielle Ortiz: In your opinion is a titanium curling iron or a titanium ceramic blend curling iron better? I can't find any information comparing the 2 or stating which is superior so I could really use your opinion so I can make a decision. Thanks

Noor Zainab: Thanks I really was confused but you solved my confusion

Sarah Smith 8220: I curl my hair every so often and I've done both. But no matter what strength hair spray I use my curls don't stay

Beth Hall: Does anyone know the name of the first automatic curling iron she used?

monica chattat: hii, i wanna ask you about the curling iron? which on is it?

SexyHair: Amazing!

Bees_nail_art: Where did you get the hair curler? What's it called?

Be Happy Be Natty: What curling iron were you use ?

amberdcoyote: Do you have a tutorial for the beachwaver curling iron? I thought you did but I can't find it.

stolen heart: My hat is always a sweat filled grease ball post gym..how does yours still look so great?!

Brandy Howell: What type of curling iron is that? I think it's awesome

Marjorie Banaag: What hair curler did you use?

Sadiya Akter: I love the iron

Valerie Gutierrez: woah i need that curling wand in my life

koolkatzify: I wonder what curling wand you use

Mary Stevens: Can you do a review of the beachwaver?

María José Henríquez Maradiaga: Es genial
