Hey guys, so I had questions all the time on my Twitter on my facebook asking me hey: do you have any tips for transitioners? You know request to do a video like this, so it took some time, but I finally got a chance to you know: do this video for you guys. So these are my quick top 10 tips for transitioning to natural hair from relaxed. My first tip is that you don't have to do the bc, which is a big chop. We chopped up chop off all of your last hair in order to transition. You can transition without the bc by letting your natural hair grow out, not getting any more relaxers and your transitioning, you don't necessarily have to go. You know balls to the walls and just chop all your hair off. It doesn't have to be that drastic. If but you're not the type of person who likes having short hair like that, then don't do it. Let your hair grow. There are pros and cons to the vc. Well, the first pro is that you can start fresh with your natural hair. You don't have to worry about dealing with two textures as it grows out. It'S going to be really difficult to deal with. You know your thicker natural hair, texture and you're thinner, relaxed hair texture, which is going to be a lot weaker as well. So it's easier if you bc, just to get rid of that relaxed hair all together. Also, as your natural hair grows in its going to be, you know you're going to be able to learn how to do your hair, while it's short so that when it grows longer, you've already mastered your hair. Cuz say you know you let your hair grow out, and then you set a chop it when your natural hair is like down to your chest. You know it's going to be a lot more difficult for you to figure out how to work with your texture, with it being so long been if you had just started with a short hair to begin with. So those are the prompt pros. The cons of the bc is that maybe you're not comfortable with short hair. It can be a little awkward um, but i think this has the only caught if you're not comfortable. So if you're going to bc, make sure that you're comfortable with it make sure you're accepting the fact that you're going to have short hair - and you know when you first bc, it can be weird. For me, it was weird very, very, very weird and I wasn't very comfortable. It took me about two weeks to get comfortable with it, and then I was like I'm fine. It will be like a transition period where you're feeling like weird about it, but don't worry, it'll pass and you'll get used to your hair. Oh a second tip. What are the wings that you can transition besides a B C? Well, you have the VC. You can let your hair grow out, um it from its natural state. You don't have to cut it off, you can put your hair and which is what I did into extension. So I had grated extensions. They were medium sized braids, I'm almost like a box. Excuse me almost like box braids um, you can put them into braid extensions, twisted extensions and what that does? I really like that, because I didn't have to play with my hair all the time I wasn't ready for the PC. I didn't want to chop off my relaxed hair, yet this was the perfect solution I would put into my braid extensions. I had a really really cute style. I could you know, make it longer if I wanted make it shorter. If I wanted - and I didn't have to worry about combing out my natural and my relaxed hair everyday to style it, which meant that it was a lot of stress on my hair and it was able to grow without all that, pulling and tugging and breakage um. Eventually, I did end up cutting off my relaxed hair, but that's a whole nother story would be ways, but you know if you're going to wear the weight, just make sure that your hair underneath is moisturized. You know, don't braid it too tight. You don't want it to have too much stress on it, make sure you're caring for you're, not just leaving in a week for four weeks. You know what I mean for way to transition would be weaves. I don't really recommend them compared to the other methods of transitioning, just because I feel like with leaves you know. Your hair is braided, really small, really tightly um and it's just a lot of stress on your hair, but it is a way that transition. It is an option, but third tip treat transitioning hair gently, there's going to be a point where the relaxed hair meets the natural hair, and it's just going to be that's the breakage point. So if you don't treat your hair gently, that's where the relaxed hair is going to break off from your natural hair and you're going to get tons breakage, which is not always a bad thing. Actually it actually happened to me. It'S not a bad thing. You just get rid of your relaxed hair, so maybe sooner than you wanted to, but if we're really trying to transition a long term and keep your relaxed hair, we treat it very done. Gently number four moisturizing, your hair, the natural hair, I say moisturize daily with transitioning hair, I say moisturize weekly when here is a hundred percent natural. Our hair is very dry, very thirsty and it needs moisture water to grow and transition. It you're going to have relaxed hair in there too, so relaxed hair can't take as much moisture as your natural hair can. In fact it can get waterlogged and if you have too much moisture can break off so because of the fact that your relaxed hair can get waterlogged really easily. You want to be wary of that. You don't if you, if you're transitioning long term, you don't want that hair break off. So just moisturize your hair weekly, I say: maybe every time you wash your hair into a deep conditioned ceiling with on whatever products you use, while it's wet and that'll be good for the week. If you need to you know, say your natural hair, I hear that your roots are getting a little dry and we boil your scalp a little bit, but you don't want to be spritzing your hair with water every day. If you're transitioning, you don't want your hair. Wrinkled, I also get a lot of inquiries of women who are confused about the curl pattern. I can't figure out what their code pattern is, and I want to just say so. You won't be able to figure out what your curl pattern is until all of your relaxed hair is removed, and you have at least three inches of growth now, that's because when you have relaxed hair attached to your natural hair, its added weight to your hair, it's Pulling your hair down your curls aren't able to do what they want to do freely, so you really have to make sure that relaxed hair is chopped off and that you have at least three inches of hair, so that your curl pattern has enough room to actually Coil and do it it wants to do that way. You can really determine what your hair type is. Now, if you go to Google, you can type in curly-haired types and you're going to get tons of information of different hair types for curly hair and how to determine it and all that kind of stuff. So just you know give it a little bit of time for your hair to grow out and make sure that your relaxed hair is chopped off first. Another popular question that I get is what products did use while you're transitioning. You know I have a video of the products I use now, but I'm natural, but what products did you use while you're transitioning, and I always tell people when you're transitioning and when you're newly natural just use the same exact products you're using when you have relaxed Hair and you're like why, because when you're transitioning and when you're newly natural, it's all new to you, the transition is going to be a challenge. The dealing with your new natural hair is going to be a little bit of a challenge. You don't need to add this added stress of figuring out who is this product good? Is this product good now just use whatever you've been using before whatever you're comfortable with, so that it's you always have something? That'S constant in your regimen now, once you figure out how to work with your hair, then start playing around with the products. Then start testing out different things to see how it affects your hair and health, and, if you like that or not because, if you're playing around with products in the beginning and trying to figure out how to do your hair, it's too much. It'S just way too much, you don't know if you're doing the right thing because of how you are playing with your hair, you don't know if it's the product, so just stick with what you know until you master your hair with that product and then move on To other things - and I just say that, because you want to make sure that you're having fun - you don't want this to be a stressful time, you want to enjoy your hair, you want to enjoy figuring out how to play with it and if you just add Too many new things to the bunch all at once. It'S going to be overwhelming and you know you're going to feel like it's a lot harder than it actually is, and you might give up and you just don't need that because of some new product that you're trying you know so keep it simple number. Seven is research as many Naturals as possible, even if they don't have your hair type. When I started going natural eye research to everyone, I research people from you know very loose, curly haired, very tight, tight, curly hair and I just wanted to know what they were using because you you'll start to see some common denominators in all of their tips and You'Ll figure out, okay. Well, this seems to be working for everybody. Let me start with that. Um and you know some things that work for some looser hair won't work for. Someone with you know tighter here, but knowing what works for the woman with the looser hair and what works for them with the tighter hair will help you, along when you're figuring out how to do your own hair, for example, through watching videos of women with different Hair textures, I found out that women with looser hair they like to use lighter hair products, women with tighter coarser hair like to use heavier hair products. Now we're going to figure out where your hair falls and all that, maybe you figure out okay. Well, my hair is really not that tight, really not that loose though so, maybe I want to work with something: that's a little bit um, not too light, but not too heavy too. So that will give you hints on where to start once you start playing with products and etc so um, you know, knowledge is power, research as many Naturals as you can, even if they don't have your hair type, it's just thing to really figure out what works For natural hair in general, I don't know if you guys noticed by I'm like so out of breath right now, I'm exhausted when you're pregnant. You can't you can't do this so easily. So if I'm breathing really hard, I'm sorry! But it's because I'm standing up - and you can't really stand for this long of a period of time. Oh and every new talking to a camera would be such a workout ridiculous. My eighth tip is focus on healthy hair, not long hair. You know, I can't tell you how many um you know women tell me you know I'm getting frustrated. My hair is not growing fast enough. I'M about to go back to relaxer - and it's like you know, is your hair healthy focus on that you're not going to see length when you go natural right away. It'S going to take, maybe maybe a year and a half two years, depending on how tightly curled your hair is to see length. The tighter your hair is the tighter your curl, the longer it's going to take to see your line. I'Ve been natural for almost four years now and my hair, when curly still is up to here. So if you determine your natural hair journey on your length, you're going to be very frustrated, you might give up ease more easily and it's just not going to be a positive experience for you, so focus on healthy hair and not long hair. My ninth tip is find the beauty in your own curls. Now I hear so many times. Women talking about curl Envy, just give it some time figure out how to work with your curls figure out how to define your curls, and I swear you're gon na love. Your hair for how it looks with your own curl pattern. Everyone'S curl pattern is different. I have yet to see a natural like Naturals with the same Crowell pattern, so just go into it ready. You know, with the open mind, I'm ready to work with whatever curl pattern you have, because I guarantee you you're gon na, like what no matter whether how loose or how tight your hair is, whether your hair holds or not, there's always a way to work. With your hair and figure out, you know how your hair looks best. What Styles look best with your hair, my last tip, is just enjoy the ride, don't go into it, expecting instant gratification, because 95 % of the time that doesn't happen. It'S very rare that someone goes into it. You know chopping all the hair off and like yeah natural Wow. Oh no, you know a lot of times you go into it. You'Re transitioning you're, like oh, my god. This new growth feels awkward or you chopped all your hair off and you're, like whoa where's, my hair, you know just go into it expecting that awkward stage, because you will have it. He will have that awkward stage, no matter what is very few people who are happy with their hair 100 % of the time when I start to go natural, it takes some time to learn how to work with your texture. It takes some time to be comfortable with the new way that you look if you're used to yourself looking one way, your whole life, it takes some time to get used to that new. Look that you're going to have so go into it expecting an awkward stage. Go into it realizing that all of that will subside and eventually you're, going to master your hair and you're going to be comfortable in your skin and it's just such a rewarding experience so um, you know I don't want to share code and be like. Oh, it's all peaches and cream. All the time when you go natural, hey you're, not any like you! No! No! I was you know. I had two weeks where I was awkward and I felt embarrassed because I wasn't used to it and that happens and that's okay, but that you know you don't have to run from that. You don't have to say, oh because I feel awkward, I'm gon na. You know relax my hair again, it's just a part of the process and it happens, and it makes you stronger so go through it enjoy the ride. It'S going to happen, you know you'll be happier for those are my top 10 tips for transitioners. If anybody has any tips that I might have left out, please leave them in the comments below because there will be transitioners watching this, the more tips the better. So I really hope this helps guys um. I am out of breath and exhausted now, but I'm happy that I was able to put these tips together for you guys. Finally, on a video I know you guys have been asking and I'm you know sorry it took so long. I hope you guys have a great rest of your weekend and I'll talk to you later. Bye,

tyerra1213: Ladies I'm 17 months post relaxer and I'm cutting my hair next month. It is a struggle but it's completely worth it. My curl pattern is coming in so nicely and I have some length. Dont give up guys!

Tynia Williams: This kind of makes me want to cry, it's upsetting how difficult it is to have black hair. Not saying I'm ashamed about being black but I'm so use to relaxers and having long hair it's gonna kill me transitioning but I gotta do it because relaxers are thinning my hair so bad and breaking it off.

Amber Monét: I've been transitioning for maybe 9, 10 months now? I've noticed the extreme dandruff is gone and my scalp isn't itchy at all and that was a huge problem with the relaxer. My hairline is great and my breakage spots are now grown in fully. I'm cutting my relaxed ends off this weekend and I'm actually super excited. xD I'm used to short hair (cuz my hair would NOT grow with a relaxer) so getting rid of these dead, stringy ends will be more than gratifying. I can already see my curls from where the relaxed ends have broken off and I think I'm 3c/4a/b. At first I thought I was 4c but now that it's grown in a little more I have a much looser curl pattern. :3 It's been about 10 years since I've seen my natural hair. I just can't wait  to experiment with styles and products and see my hair down my back like it was when I was little.

Maia McDaniels: This was perfect. I recently decided enough is enough with my damage relaxed hair & it's only been a month but hey you have to start somewhere, but this helped SO much. Thank you!

Deborah Akande: I literally just decided I'm going natural today and this video was very helpfu!

Tara Short: I've Been Transitioning For About 2-3 Months And I've Been Really Scared Because I'm So Used To My Long Hair But I Would Love To See My Natural Hair And Get My Relaxed Hair Out The Way. I Think Doing That Now Will Help And Build My Confidence.. Being Comfortable With Me And My Hair.. Scared But Excited... #TeamNatural

Itsknotsoeasy: I've been there! and I fell off 15 months into it and started over. I am now 11 months post and have created my channel to journal my progress and to encourage and inspire other transitioners to stick with it! I will be doing a video soon on the do's and don'ts of transitioning:) Be encouraged!

Zany Elle: Thanks I needed this video. Did my final chop yesterday after 21 months of transitioning. I was so ready to buy new products. I'm really excited about this new journey and your right it should be about health not length. My hair looks and feels healthier already. Congratulations to you and your husband on being pregnant!

nancydrew5: "<3 <3 Good luck in your transition!! <3 <3" Thanks Naptural85 for the well wishes. You are one of my main inspirations. Good luck to you on your pregnancy. Get plenty of iron and folic acid in your body, very important before and during pregnancy, but you are a highly intelligent woman and I know you've done the best already. I look forward to your vlogs on DearNaptural. You and Felipe and your family will be awesome for the new baby. He/She will be surrounded by so much love. :)

Kaitak0: If anyone could give me advice that would be awesome! But I'm transitioning, it's been 2 1/2 months so far and it's been fine and all my only problem is that my parents (mostly my mom) don't really agree with it. I've tried talking to them about it, about not getting perms and not straightening my hair but they just don't want me to do it. Whenever I go to the salon to get my hair trimmed, my mom makes the lady give me texturizes which is still bad. What can I do to get her to agree with me going natural. It's tough to transition if I still get chemicals put on my hair when is been growing

dagnabit27851: Thank you so much for this video. I'm 1 1/2 months in and I can definitely say that transitioning is hard not only because of the new growth but it can be socially awkward. I'm learning to push through the negative because I know this is what's best for my hair. Thanks so much and congrats on the little butter bean!

Sierra Minner: it's totally worth it either quit the "creamy crack" or watch it fall out! trust me if you don't let it go your hair will suffer big time! I was hard headed five years ago I kept getting relaxers & nearly burned my skin off! my scalp was covered in huge scabbes & it pussed:-( my hair fell out I was sooo! depressed! lol then I called my Mom told her I was ready to listen & take better care of myself because, your hair is an appendage of your body:-) anyways my Mom is a Barber & beautician she gave me my first big chop after really bad damage along with a deep condition treatment & it grew like wild fire!!!! lol now everyone does not have to do a big chop but, its the quickest way to get the chemical off:-) I pray this help & welcome to the struggle lol

Nkiru Obi: This video was EXTREMELY helpful. It was exactly what I was looking for in a long while. U brought up an excellent point about working towards healthy hair first versus longer hair. And congratulations on your pregnancy. Wishing you strength throughout it all. Thanks for the vid.

prinzessinDE: This is by far the most encouraging video I have seen about transitioning. Thank you soooo much. Just had some inches cut off today and still felt really frustrated with my hair ( I still have my relaxed ends ) and was thinking about relaxing again. But this video makes me want to keep going and just discover my hair in all its naturalness :-)

ameritrini: This video was SO ON TIME as I did my first braid out yesterday on my transitioning hair. Love your channel and congrats on the bundle of joy!!!

EmiTala: Thanks for those tips Whitney. I've always had natural hair and decided to relax in January this year. By the second day I wanted my natural hair texture back. I've been transitioning since then. I'm been so concerned about the length, so thank you for your tip to concentrate on healthy hair. I haven't experienced breakage and i've been using your tips on moisturising the hair and co-washing the hair sometimes instead of shampooing.

Anna S: This was my first time watching your video, and I must say that I am doing the right thing as for my transition from relaxed hair. I have a cousin that's been natural for eight years and she convinced me that I do not have to do what you call the"BC" to begin being natural. Thank you again for you "Top Ten Tips"! Don't recall how long ago you did this video, but I hope your pregnancy is/was a sucess. And congradulations on your bundle,or bundle to be.

melinaperez1fan: @***** I am so glad I found your channel Ive been transitioning for about 5 months and everything you said is so true my hair always dry and somtimes I be wanting to give up and go back to relaxed but since I found your channel you've gave me the motivation to keep going thank you so much and again I am glad I found you....

Charisse Francis: Thank you so much for your tips. The biggest thing I took from this is learning to love my curls and to focus on health and not length. I'm not going to lie, I love your long curly hair and that's my goal but I see now that I need to change my focus in order to continue with this commitment. Thank you!

rhaulsey: Great advice! Especially for those going through the transitioning process. Some make transitioning out to be the worse thing, but it's not. It's really up to the individual. Everyone is different.

naturallysexxy: Thanks for posting Naptural! I'm almost 7mos into my transition. I'm doing the long term transition with twists. In between refreshing the twists, I chop a little each time. (I don't think I'm gonna chop anymore until a year though) I recently took a twist out and was examining my hair and became so excited by what seems to be my curl pattern. (there was no perm on that part of the hair). Anyway, 5 months to go till I cut it all off. Oh yeah, I'm obviously late, but Congratulations!

Cori and Denise: I've been natural since October 2013 for one month exactly and I was shocked at what I just had done (a big chop)! But it was worth it. I thank you Natural 85 for all your tips in how to grow long and healthy natural hair. My hair has grown an inch and a half in a month.

dagirlgenius: I'm not transitioning either, but I have to say I think this is one of my favorite vids you've done! Thanks for everything I've learned from you! :) keep up the PHENOMENAL work and congrats again on the little one :)

The Beautiful World Of Bonita Taryn: Great tips! I went natural for 6 years '05-'11, relaxed again in '11. Felt like it wasn't worth it. Now I'm transitioning again its been a year. First time I went natural I also did not to a BC, 2nd time around also did not BC. Yes, def use same products, Hair Mayo by Organic Root worked great for me relaxed and also as a natural. It gets better with time, the longer you work w/ your texture the better you get with dealing with it ;)

AngelaStarr: Great tips! The best on Youtube by far. In my research, some naturals say that transitioners should start treating their hair as if it were already completely 'natural'. Doing that method actually made my hair more difficult to manage with the 2 textures. I completely agree with you basically saying to continue to cater to your relaxed hair regimen during the transition period.

Nancy Mills Shannon: I've been praying for my hair, also. I had prayed for it to grow back. Now I am praying that I have positive transitioning results. I thought I was going overboard with prayer. You are a refreshing confirmation and reminder to trust God to do EVERYTHING for me. Thanks.

Ayden Sumerall: Well at least she's being honest about her natural curly hair. Some women on here lie so hard about their naturally hair when they know they ass done got a texturizer.

puppiiboo78: Hey everyone! I'm a new transitioner (my last perm was in November 2012). Here's another tip: I was watching a video by HairCrush called "Tips For Transitioners to Natural Hair" she mentioned to not use shampoo because it strips away moisture and causes hair to be too dry. She also said that using a co-wash and leave in conditioner is better because it keeps the hair moisturized.

A Day in the Life of Taji: Thank you for your videos! Although I've never had a relaxer I have straightened my hair my whole life and last year I lost my curl pattern due to heat damage! So 2 months ago I saw one of.your videos and it inspired me to go on a heatless journey with natural products! Going on 3 months now and I love it! Congrats on the baby!

Kya Ji: Thank you soooooooooo much! I've been watching all your videos for about the past 2-3 months and I'm currently wearing your mini-twist style that has worked sooooo well with my hair, and I'm seeing growth only on week 2 actually ^^ . God bless you and Fillipe, and that you'll have a beautiful healthy child and thanks for everything. (P.S.- chill out miss, lol don't want to see you pass out from standing)

Yasmin Harper: Hiya! ;Let me say, you (and shamless maya :P) really inspired me to go natural and I just love you!! Im 13 yrs old and im currently transitioning. I decided on transitioning because I hated getting relaxed and plus, I the love kinky-curly hair that I had so yeah. My hair is The same as yours I believe, 4a all over n 4b in the crown with some 3c wherever. I am currently 4 months(15 weeks) post and I don't know what to do with my hair! I just have so much new growth and my hair is almost shoulder length. I do braids and twist outs but I found that they only look good in one day . I just wanna to ask if it is safe to transition in braids and twist until I reached a little past length where I can do more with my hair. If not, is there anything else that I can do to make it easier to style that last longer and appeling where I can have to listen to comments by my anti-natural family? I really don't wanna give in to my family. Thanks :P

Lauren Triplett: Super super helpful!!! I wish I would've known not to moisturizer daily when I first started transitioning! It's been 11 months since my last relaxer & I have 7 more months until I BC! Thanks for being such an inspiration through this time!! Congratulations on the baby!!!!!!

NaturalQu33n: Congrats on your pregnancy may your delivery be gentle and short! :-) This video is great I am almost two years into my transition ans as you mentioned it has been a little rocky but I am enjoying this ride. At this point I am trying to find my curl pattern and defeat scalp issues but all in all I AM LOVING MY HAIR!!!

ATM2400: Yes, thank you! This was exactly what Ive been looking for. Thanks for addressing us long term and new transitioners!! Ill be transitioning three months this week. :o)

robert hall: Your hair is gorgeous!! Thank you for the tips.....I have been natural for about 3 years now ..I wore a weave to transition.....still have the weave in, but have NOW decided to come out of it. I am excited to start wearing my natural hair and can't wait to see my new look! Thanks and congratulations!!!

Monie: Ugh, this video was SO HELPFUL! 1 year relaxer free andddd I work out about 6 times a week. These tips were right on time. Thank you!

Cindy Mechille: Congrats on your pregnancy. I have been following you on youtube for several months now, you are truely an inspiration. I can only hope my hair will be as beautiful as yours is one day. Thanks for all the great advice and for always having a positive attitude. BTW thanks for Re-loading your old videos, I love referring people to check out how far you have come.

chrissy spencer: Love ur videos, I am 48 weeks post relaxer, decided to go from relaxers to natural on my birthday this yr. Its been one of the most research habits I have kept great interest in. Ur videos are so helpful. I am currently in protective styles and no heat until 01/13 when it makes a yr. So stay Beautiful of this "Natural hair Journey.

Tina Odim: Thanks for the transitioning video. All of your videos have helped me fall more in love with my hair! Going for the BC in two weeks! Your pro's for the BC help me feel more confident about my decision!

Jovhanna Byers: Thank you so much for being so blunt about the transition.. You've now inspired me to go natural after literally a lifetime of relaxing my hair

AngelaStarr: I appreciate the added encouragement TheMythicBeauty. I'm find myself more determined to stick with my transitioning decision everyday. Last weekend I actually walked past the relaxer isle at Walgreens and had absolutely no desire to relapse on the creamy crack. I'm so fascinated with my textured new growth right now.. LOL

Vitamin Kay: Thank you so much for this video. <3 More motivation for me. I am nearly 8 months post relaxer. I am so excited to reach my year in four more months. Ahhh!

Jusstine: Thank you so much. I literally thought no one was going through what I was going through. I'm still deciding whether I want to do "the BC" or not. Either way, I love your videos, and it literally gives me so much hope for my hair. Love your channel more than anything!

Ange Mutware: Thank you so much for this video! I stubbled across it and recently I've been wanting to transition to go back to my natural hair because I've been relaxing it since the age of about 7yrs but I wasnt so sure if I was ready or such a change and to be frank I still don't know if I am but this video has encouraged me! When September comes around I plan on skipping my usual back-to-school regimen of relaxing my hair! :) thank you again!

ttknowles01: This is a great video! I wish I would have had this advice when I was transitioning. I transitioned for 8 months before I did the BC, and it took me a good month or so to get used to having a little afro (I had no clue what to do with it lol), but best believe I will never go back to a relaxer. My hair loves its natural state way too much :-)

moxieloveable: I recently had my hair relaxed, a month to be exact. I am so regretting it because it turned out bad. I am considering going back to natural once the relaxer starts to wear off. Transitioning back to natural will be a first for me. Thanks for the video. Very informative.

Vegnaturalista: I was one of the rare ladies, who was immediately happy after I did my big chop! Learning about my natural hair has been sn awesome journey so far. I didn't hit "bumps in the road" till I started to gain length. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize is my most important tip for natural hair care. I was too impatient with transitioning, so I had to big chop. So, I don't really have transitioning advice. :(

Annette Shaw: This video is soooooo helpful! I am 10 months in my natural hair experience and I am at a point where I want to see it through but I am slightly discouraged. I know that I never want to perm my hair ever again but I want to do something to it soooo bad. Thanks for the tips in this video. I will certainly be using them to get me past this slump I'm in...Thanks!!!!

Cocoa Rain: Thank you thank you thank you!!! Im 8 months into transitioning and have been covering my hair with braids n quick weaves. Now Im ready to cut off the relaxed ends and I'm nervous, but your videos always help... Congradulations n Best of luck with the baby!!

Eily Perez: Thank you so much for this. I started the process about 6 months ago and its being really hard. I'm afraid of the BC thats why I still have great part of my relaxed hair. however, you are a true inspiration for women like me. Thanks for the help and motivation :)

napturalsista86: Great advise Naptural85. I've been natural for almost 2 years and I wish I new about you when I first did the BC. I've learned a lot about my own hair through experimenting different styles, products, and researching! Anyway, your tips are very honest and helpful.

Honest Honest: Before I transitioned I also asked my beautician. I had thinning hair on the sides that got worse due to some serious health issues. She said my relaxed hair made it easier to cover up the thin areas. Its 9 months since my last relaxer (no bc) and my thin areas have improved & the serious dandruff I used to have with my relaxers reduced about 80%. If your beautician doesn't specialize in natural hair (like mine) then she realizes that she may lose a client and try to discourage you. Go for it!

Jamie Evans: I really wish I had seen this 2 years ago when I first went on my natural hair journey! Everything you said in the video is spot on! Thank you for giving us this information and for sharing your family with us. I look forward to your future videos.

familyfun4cast: I really enjoy watching your videos for natural hair care, they've really helped me recently. Thank you!! I agree with almost everything on this 10 tips but the treatment of moisturizing once a week with transitioning hair. I would have to stress that it depends on your hair type. If you see that your hair is dry like me after a day of two, Moisturize it!! If you don't need to do it but once a week or everytime you wash, your in better hair shape than me. Get to know your curls mamas :). PEACE

AngelaStarr: Thanks for the much needed encouragement. I'm currently 4 months post relaxer and have been questioning my transition at least once a week, asking myself, "Do I really want to do this" or "Is this for me"? I'm so tempted to just continue relaxing my hair as usual and go about my business, but feel that if I do that I'll regret it. Decisions... Decisons.

MsTigerseye77: Oh yeah my hair type is 4a, b, c and OMG!!! I literally have about 4 or 5 very different curl patterns growing in my hair. I only wish I had seen your videos 9 years ago. I would have handles the TWA phase so much better. Thanks for posting!!

chapmarlo: Hey Naptiral85 thanks for the vid:). im 14 years old and 6 months post relaxer. i want to big chop alread but my mom ismt fond of me going natural, but oh well! Thanks for being such an inspiration for me and teaching me to love myself the way I was created. Your funny, kind, supportive and im so thankful for findond you on youtube. i wouldn't have been able to stay strong without you :)! Keep up the good work and thanks for everything!! :D

tropicalprincess16: I've been transitioning going on 8 months now. Not a long time but its a start. Thx for the vid. very helpful. My hair can be very difficult sometimes so I've been keeping it in braids and I'm going to try extensions for the first time. so hopeful. any tips everybody? lol i could use some advice

Sister Wa Wa: Thank you sooooo much!!!! I'm finally completely natural(without cutting it all off), and your videos have been VERY helpful and the ones I watch the most. I will definitely recommend to friends.

Bri Bruce: Great tips! Thanks for keeping to your motto of keeping it simple! The video is a must for anyone who is going and are already natural.

Cia Shopz: Thanks for the tips. I decided to go natural without the BC. Going natural has really helped me manage and take care of my daughters hair which has no perm. My concern is her ends. I recently flat ironed her hair for pre k grad and the ends were a different texture than the rest. The ends were not split just rough and the next day dry. Not sure what to do. Should I cut it?

Shay Raymond: Well, I hope your Love/Hate relationship with your hair turns more towards love! I have struggled for YEARS with my hair! It hasnt been long and truly healthy since I was in the 6th grade. Cheers to your hair growing no matter what! I finally want to see my hair grow!

prettybrowni1: Oh my gosh .... Congratulations to you and your husband. Thank you for the tips. I have been natural for many years, but 1 year responsibly. I'm still learning how to take care of my hair.

SweetSpiritForever: I'm so excited for you! Happy to see young people jumping on board and learning about how to take care of our hair. Good luck!

John 316: You hit the nail on the head with this video! Also like @DreamingWhileAwake said...DO NOT COMPARE YOUR HAIR TO OTHERS..I was bad about the at first, but I got over it! My hair is my hair and I LOVE IT, it takes awhile, but once you get to know your hair, you will know how to maintain it and rock it! Blessings!!

NunYaBiz000: YES! I just washed my hair this Sunday and there were knots with straight ends all in my tub. I'm 3 going on 4 months of transitioning and it's frustrating. I also hate that the relaxed part gets tangled so easily when it's wet. The natural part is so maintained and easy to run my fingers through. I thought it would be the other way around. Definitely thinking of chopping it off!

tkla05: I love all your videos!Im a relaxed straight hair lover, but I truly enjoy seeing how your manage your hair.It is absolutley gorgeous and so are you. Please keep doing what your doing... you're an inspiration:)

Nancy Mills Shannon: Thank you so much. I love your videos. I am only one month into this. I guess I haven't really started at all. My last relaxer was about a month-and-a-half ago. My hair grows really fast, but breaks easily, so I am excited about all the encouraging tips to help with that. I am not too happy about the BC, so I am definitely not going to do that. I will be sure to be careful when my natural meets my relaxed hair and starts tripping. I now know to expect it and be prepared to handle it.

robin gle: I have been relaxing my hair for four years and I'm a senior in HS going to college next year. I can truly say I am tired of relax hair now,but I really don't regret it that much because no one knew how to take care of all the hair that I had (I had ALOT of hair) Im just glad you can research and find out all these things about taking care of hiair because no one really knew how back in thefay

doggettall: Great tips! I'm 2 months post BC after over 10 months transitioning & I can attest to most of what you said! I'm LOL bcuz I knew you were expecting after a couple tips. I said to myself, she looks like she has the 'stand sickies' (a nickname my big Sis gave to the pregnant tired feeling from simply standing). Best wishes for u, Felipe (sp?) & the new baby. I hope you decide to share your baby bump; I'm sure it's as adorable as you. Try doing your videos while sitting :-), we won't mind.

Ahmawan: I am a fan..I have tuned into your videos for about a year. This is my second time transitioning after getting my hair relaxed and almost losing my hair which has reached my upper to lower back. Enough is enough..I use the bantou method and I will try the cocoon method but no big chop for me. Congratulations on your bundle!!!

Kyla Stewart: I've been on the fence for a while about natural hair and when I found your channel I made the choice to go natural! Thanks for your videos :)

ichibanmegami: Thank you for the tips. I was juuust thinking that I should just relax my hair...this transitioning isn't easy! I've been transitioning for about 7 months and before that I had very tapered hair in the back and a longer length in the front and got micros to help give it a rest. Though my hair is growing slowly but surely, I am at that awkward stage where some days I love the styles I'm able to do with it and other days I get so overwhelmed. Keep the awesome videos coming. Greatly Appreciated.

erika1080: I could have saved myself from a lot of breakage at the beginning of my transition if I would have realized I didn't need to wet my hair everyday. This a great guide.

AllisonMVO: It'll get better girl! I experienced this when I first started transitioning. Just continue to deep condition and nurture your hair and after a while all will be well.

Chy Nunyabusiness: Awesome video and very helpful!!!!!!! Thank you so much! I'm 6 months in my transition and was finding it annoying and difficult to try all of these products while my hair is still 85% relaxed! Thank u for Ur tips!!! :)

sugarfreemars: This advice is adorable. WIsh I had this when I was transitioning. Luckily I made it out unscathed. 5 years natural and i'm loving it. <3

Erika Bloyen: I always love your videos! Thanks for the tips! I did a big chop 1 year and 8 months ago. I totally agree with your vid. I thought that I was crazy right after my BC. The first words out my mouth were "What have I done?!" It took me a while to get used to it but I will never go back to relaxed hair ever again. I love my curls now. Hope bobblehead is doing well. Take care.

NeitherUpNorDown NeitherOverNorUnder: I am so indebted to you for this video! My whole regimen has been a lie. I'm transitioning and I've been having so much breakage and I couldn't understand why. I thought I was using all the right products and moisturizing and co-washing and when you said use the same products you've always been using and over moisturize a light bulb went off in my head!! I've been doing everything wrong. I'm going to wash and condition my hair tonight and get box braids tomorrow.

DeAna Williams: I love your tutorials and vlogs. You are a great inspiration to us all. I currently have locs and I'm in process of taking them out.

Andiee Bee: Good for you for choosing to transition at a young age! It's great that no longer have to worry about doing a relaxer any more :)

Naelle4: You are so beautiful! Your face looks great! I just big chopped after a 8 month transition, I will definitely share this video with my transitioning friends :)

rachel swedberg: I just started transitioning almost 2 months ago! These tips will really help me. You are my hairspiration lol

NaturallyTiTi: I want to say thank you also for your videos, and advice. I'll be natural two years come august. But what shocks me most of all, I'm starting my loc journey come august. I never thought 15 years ago, I would be natural, or heading towards a loc journey. I have been able to look at your videos, other natural ladies and gain so much knowledge for my natural hair. I'm so thankful to see so many beautiful natural women. It helps a million to see other women who look like me! Thankyou Naptural :)

Pris B: thank you for sharing these tips with your fellow naturals and transitioners. they are appreciated.1 year 7 months natural and no regrets

Alea McHatten: I'm happy to hear that your not giving up :o) I'm 15 & transitioned for about a year & then started cutting off about a 1/2 inch to a whole inch of the relaxed hair every 2 weeks in August. But a great lesson that I learned from my transitioning stages was not to straighten my hair. I got really bad heat damage and lost nearly half of my curls, which made the transition longer. I just BCed myself this past memorial day to get rid of the rest of the head damage so stay away from heat if you can.

Shant3Malis3: Omg...thank you so much, I was moisturizing my transitioning hair like a natural person...basically trying to transition by pretending my hair was already natural and couldnt figure out at all where all the breakage was coming from...You are the onlly person on youtube that said this so far on youtube.

FreeRaven: Yes! There's a spot in the middle of my head that has almost completely expelled all of my relaxed hair and it started when I was about 4-5 months into my transition.

mykah simmons: Hey I love your channel! I'm 13 and it's actually really hard I have been transtiong since last year I started in march but I was wondering if you could make a back to school video on back to school hairstyles ? Thanks and congrats on the baby!

dominatress Naturality: Omg im glad I ran across your video, I've been transitioning for 7-8 months now and I have been experiencing breakage and didn't know why but now I know, I have been wetting my hair everyday... So now I know I shouldn't thank you so much for this video

BreAna1393: One thing that I love about your videos is that I feel like people of any race/creed/color/hair texture can relate. I have friends who have really straight and/or wavy hair who have cut their hair off/short because it's so damaged from dying/bleaching/perming/etc. Some of them watch your videos and find them helpful even though (as far as hair goes) they are on an opposite end of the spectrum to you.

Krys Bee: Your hair is so beautiful! I'm new to the natural hair gang! ONE week since my big chop after a 12 month transition! I'm loving my hair so far! The only thing is, I have some extremely dry hair! It looks ahhh mazing when its wet, but when it's dry...it's really dry. Do you have any product suggestions? Or any suggestions? Thanks so much! Congrats to you and your hubby on bobble! :)

Mrs D: Thank you. Ur videos were just what I needed 2 make my decision on going natural. I’ve been getting relaxers 4 yrs last time was this passed Saturday. However, I always thought abt going natural 4 sometime now but was uncertain abt making tht change. My hair is abt shoulder length & I currently get a roll&set. I’m considering abt transitioning into my natural hair from a roll&set style, n once I am all natural then I’ll start using all natural products. Whats ur view on this? Need suggestions.

LaWinter: I'm currently transitioning and love your videos. Keep em coming !

christieann321: Thanks 4 the tips! Transitioners def need to follow these tips. Been transitioning 4 20 months now. I have kinky twists and I hate them! I'm itching to BC but I'm trying to wait the 2yr mark. Kinda nervous cause I won't know what I can do with full natural hair. I can tell that I have two different textures in my hair. Looser in the front tighter in the back. Love the vids and enjoy the pregnancy!

NewbieQT886: Awesome tips and congrats on the baby!!!! It's such a roller coaster ride, but it's so rewarding and fulfilling. I'm still under a year into my mommyhood and having a blast every second.

ComfortButton: <3 this video ^o^ 1 year transitioning and I can already see that my natural hair is much more beautiful and healthy than my relaxed ends ...so.....healthy.... c:

Marilyn Blythe: What an awesome video! I'm not a transitioner, but I really enjoyed the tips. Congratulations on your baby!

nancydrew5: Great positive points. Find the beauty in your own curls, I must say natural hair requires more maintenance than relaxed hair, but I know my hair is healthy. Yes enjoy the ride. I'm 6 months post relaxer and I'm plan on doing a 2 year transition, so I'm at the beginning of my journey. I find Naptural and a few other hair gurus very inspirational and I keep coming back to keep myself inspired. My little tip, 'knit berets for those bad hair days lol (the frizzies)

smithqueenie: You are so beautiful! Three months into transitioning and definitely glad I found this video :)
