Hey friends, thanks for stopping by again this week for another video., if it's your first time viewing i'm Chanel and this week, i'm gon na show you how i roller set my hair and share all my little tips and tricks with you.. I generally use my fingers to section off my hair and that's really because i don't particularly like to detangle my hair when it's wet., since my hair is the most fragile when it's wet. I generally make sure that when i'm going to be roller setting my hair, i use a shampoo and conditioner that gets my hair very detangled and moisturized so that i'm not ripping my hair out, as i try to section it off. While it's wet. to make sure my hair fits nicely on each roller and not be hanging off from either side, i put the roller on top of the section, and then i just use my finger as a guide to see how wide i need to make each Section., once i'm done, making all my major sections, i'm going to be following up with a leave-in treatment, a leave-in conditioner and then my setting lotion.. I like to do this step before i start applying the rollers just so that each section can be properly coated in product.. I always choose leave-ins, whether it be cream or liquid. That just keeps my hair very flowy not weighed down, and in this case the cantu argan oil really does that for me.. This is the Keracare setting lotion that i made from last week's video, but i'm only applying a small amount to each section.. When i'm doing a roller setting, parting is probably the least important thing for me.. I find that whenever the partings are like really sharp, it just leaves distinct marks in my hair as to where the roller was placed.. So i don't really spend a lot of time. Parting it.. What i do, though, is to make sure that each section is properly detangled so that the hair can roll smoothly on the roller.. Water is my best friend when i'm doing a roller set., so in that bottle is just pure water and each time i'm doing a section, i'm just spritzing my hair to make sure it has enough water.. The key to getting your hair smooth from a roller set is to make sure that each section is fully hydrated with water.. So water is breaking the hydrogen bonds in your hair. You roll your hair up and then once your hair dries, there is no more water, but your hair has been aligned in a straight position as those hydrogen bonds reform.. My favorite clips to use for a roller set are the ones that basically slide in and is hidden underneath the roller like this right here.. There are many different types of clips that you can use. the top. One is the one that i'm using, but if you really want your rollers to fit snugly, you can use the one that hides underneath the roller so that you basically have more space to apply your rollers.. I also like to use bobby pins too.. That'S like my all-time favorite.. If you're sitting under a hooded dryer, the metal clips can sometimes get really hot on the scalp. But when i use those bobby pins, they keep the roller in place, but they don't get as hot and they're just overall more comfortable.. I don't find that they are as tight and you know snagging on my scalp., but overall i would use a mixture of bobby pins and clips, whichever ones i have just to make sure that each roller stays securely in place.. Oh, depending on how the section is, i might start rolling from the bottom up. you just have to determine. What'S best to get your rollers to fit., i kind of have a smaller head and my hair is thinner. So i don't need to use as many rollers., but definitely if you have very thick hair and just more space to apply the rollers, you will need to do more in your hair, just to make sure that your hair dries relatively quickly.. You can also use a clip or bobby pin to attach one roller to the next, just to make sure that they're kept snugly in place., i'm going to do the next side in the same way. Before moving on to the front section., i like leaving the front section for last, because i find that when i do the front section first, it's like i'm having trouble seeing at the back so yeah. I generally do the front last., i'm gon na be doing one half of the front section with the metal clips and then the other half with the bobby pins. Just so that you can get an idea of different ways in which you can apply the rollers based on what you have [ music, ], [, music, ], [, music, ]. So definitely sometimes you're going to need to unravel a roller and go again.. That'S fine.! Just keep practicing until you get it really good.. That'S what i had to do.. If you find that one of the rollers is a bit loose, you want to take it out and just roll it up a little bit more., Especially if you have a lot of new growth or if you just want to have a stretched. Look, you need the roller to be not very tight, but just lay close to your scalp basically. [, music, ], [, music, ], foreign [, music, ]

Coral!c: Thanks!! I would like to get an advice from you as I realized you maintain your hair healthy and beautiful. My hair is curly, thin and 3b/3c. I've been natural for 4 years, but I want to change to straight hair. When I used to rollerset or blowdry it, it used to look soft and nice. My only concern is my front part, as the weather here is humid and I sweat a lot, this frontal part immediately looks rebel and ugly. Can I just relax my fontal part ( my bangs and edges ) and leave the rest of the hair like natural? Thanks for your response.
Karen Gregoire: Great video! Where did you get the slide in metal clips?
Beautyful Beyond: Much needed tutorial
African Queen: Excellent. You did a very good job roller setting. You are a pro. ❤ Canada
Alice Santos: Love it
Gailorn Burnette: Why do you use the metal clips and bobbi pins over the caps that come with the rollers? Is there a reason?
eiraM: #notificationsquad Loving the consistency
Jeneh Massaquoi: Your hair is beautiful. Also, just wanted to say that water cannot break the hydrogen bond in hair, only a chemical like relaxer, color ect can break or "relax the bond. Water will help the hair to have memory so it will remain in the shape you dried it.
Jasmine Anthony: Can’t remember the last time I had a roller set, like over 10yrs
Sashelle's Journal: Excellent job..im soo bad at rollersetting
Signona Joseph: Thanks. ♥️
