Protective Hairstyles (3 Simple Styles) (Relaxed Hair) (Tutorial)

PROTECTIVE HAIRSTYLE TUTORIAL: In this video I show you my 3 simple protective hairstyles which I alternate between on a daily basis. I like to wear my hair up and off my shoulders as often as possible to prevent my hair from rubbing against my clothes which can result in breakage. I have been wearing these simple styles for years and they have helped me to retain longer lengths.

Hi everyone and welcome back to another video, so I've been away for the longest time, but most of my subscribers will know I was pregnant and I did give birth to a beautiful baby boy. On 23 February, we've called in Cameron and he's four months old here. Just a few pictures of them for you to see, and obviously my life has changed, a new mom, my life start to adapt around being a new mom and all the things that come with it. So I've been very, very busy doing that as well. As do many other things, so that's why I've been away for so long. But today, I'm here to talk to you about protective hairstyles. I know a number of you've been asking for this video for a long time, so gifting apologize and I'm here today to do that. For you all right, there are freaking overprotective storms that are aware on a daily basis. So I'm going to show you three different types of styles that I wear okay, so the first thought I'm going to do, for you is one of the stars is from where, when I first started growing my hair, many people have asked me what was the star That I wore when I first started when I first started my hair journey. My hair was quite short. I couldn't do much with the other than wear it out. I just like to grow and I was able to tie it back. I tend to wear ponytails and I wore a sweet fringe of the front with a French twist alright, so I'm going to show you what that looks like now. So first of all, this is sweet fringe here. Alright, so I'll show you exactly how I do that. So we do it's just as a start, as you saw just to see me comb in my hand there, and then I'm just going to comb at the other side, just breathe for there right good English jump. This is the world of curls. It should really pop it back in then just brush up the sides - okay, so I'm going to do sweep this bit around. Let'S use the small to compass to gently edge this into place all right like that. Okay, then we're kind of doing like I'm going to type my hair into the ponytail and I'm going to twist it up right, it's literally just twist it twist something it up like that and then use it, but but we pick one of the longer ones. Okay, you can see that I just clip in right there to hold it in place. Literally. That'S it that's all I do. Sometimes I don't like the best flapping away here, so I tend to just use another bobby pin just to hold that down in place tuck. It in here just to try and make a little bit neater. Alright. So that's it really! That'S my sweet fringe from French twist tie. That'S how it looks hope you looked okay, so I can't obviously see what I've done with the back of it. That'S one of the main stars argh where this stuff would be dressed up like if you're going out for a wedding or Christian or special occasion, you can actually do this. You know and more up up style kind of hairstyle. These few clips have been awakened. I attended in my hair, it's just different angles there and that's obviously going a lot better than I've done it now. This star was really that weird I going to work or just go to that shop in all right. So that's that's our. The second style is just take this out: it's a super ponytail, okay, all to sit up in a bun. I like to kind of do a side ponytail. So I'm going to comb my hair too much. Don'T we need to do that, but all you're going to do is just twist your hair around to the side and just kind of hold it together like this okay. So if you can see just got a ponytail to the side like that, and you want just to make sure it's all smooth together, you just want it just give it a nice little comb, it's the front, so I'm going to do now. Is this section here all I do is is twist it around like this. If you can see that and twisting the hair twisting it twisting the ends, and then I literally swoop it round like this, it's a bit difficult to show you so just twist it round like that, I write to them. You can see that just twisting it all! The way around and then all I do is just get one of the longer bobby pins and just clip it in to hold the bun together. That'S just one I put it there, so you might need another one to hold it in place. Literally, that's it! Okay! That'S the ban. It really is the employers inch to side ponytail. Okay, then you want to twist the ends and then wrap it around and then pin it in with two bobby pins, and that's that I like to wear this style. It'S simple and is nothing spectacular about see I like to keep simple styles in a cynical person. So if you fantasy jazz me up a little bit, then you maybe can give up. You know have more of a sweet fringe. You hear somebody at the top, but this is just for an everyday style. Alright, so that's one of my protective styles and find the knee is simple ponytail, which I tend to wear in the back: the shoes in a simple stretchy, hairband, alright, there's no mint or anything on there that can get caught in my hair. This you can get from any hair shop, really she's a normal stretchy band. Okay, I think I've shown you this one before and again just put it in a ponytail in this section loose, you don't wan na. Do this section too tight, you could do it too. Tight, I could actually pull the breakage at the back. I did do a video, which is my nightly hair care regime where I spoke about this not doing it too tight, okay and then what I do is I'll tie the hair band around just twice and then just that's. It put your the loose band like that. Okay and then I just mix up the sides, and that's it really simple styles, which are use and said everyday. They expect better suited to protect my hair from a rubbing against my clothes and causing breakage at the ends of my hair. It'S also in poor and there's nothing to it really, but yet those are all my Styles. So if you have any questions - or you want to you know, know anything else about the different styles I do, then you know, did person, questions or comments and I'll try and answer them for you. Okay, so thanks for watching and see you say, bye,

Cathy Rhodes: Beautiful.  I just found you on YouTube.  I had heard about your tutorials.  Thank you for lessons.  I now have a 15 year old daughter and we both love watching and learning. :-) And maintaining our healthy hair.

Healthy Afro Hair: Thank you. Yes I am dealing with Postpartum shedding around my hairline. I had no idea what it was at first and it totally took me by surprise. It started when my baby reached around 3 months old and I still have it. I can't wait for it to grow back.

tgbarbie5: Your videos are amazing!!! Congratulations on the little one... I had a little girl a year ago And my hair hasn't been the same!! It's breaking and shedding like crazy...everyone says it's because I'm no longer taking prenatal pills..anywho I came across your channel and I'm motivated to start a new hair journey!!!

Jessica White: So good to have you back!! Congratulations on the baby, he's precious. I've been following you and I started a hair journey of my own, wish me luck!!

Healthy Afro Hair: awww....thank you and I'm happy to hear that you enjoy my channel :) Breakage will not stop immediately and it does take time. Just focus on following a strict hair care regime and continue going. Eventually the health and condition of your hair will strengthen and become stronger and with that comes healthy hair with less breakage.

Khadijah Shade: Im glad your one of the first people to actually protective style WITHOUT BRAIDS! I never learned how to braid my hair and this is a very useful alternative

Peace&Cookies〉(^_^)〈: What a gorgeous baby boy! Still catching up on your videos! Oh and update from doing my own relaxer for the first time, I missed a few spots but it looks good! Thanks for your help! Wonderful styles in this video!

Healthy Afro Hair: Yes, as I mentioned in my video, I protect the ends of my hair to prevent them from rubbing against my clothes, causing breakage to the ends.

Healthy Afro Hair: Glad to hear you are inspired by my videos :) No, I wouldn't say that's much you should do differently, because overall, it's about following a thorough hair care regime which will allow you to have healthy hair and grow it longer, should you so wished to. I'd just say that if you are not relaxing your hair, then you will probably only need to do a protein treatment once a month.

Healthy Afro Hair: awww....thank you very much! My hair was shedding excessively about 2-3 months after I gave birth to my son. His now coming up to 6 months and it's slowly returning back to normal. But I'm glad to hear your ready to start a new hair journey.

Healthy Afro Hair: Thank you! You could possibly try half wigs too. They protect the hair and allow you to continue your hair care regime.

Healthy Afro Hair: Hey sweety, thank you. Your already sporting some nice protective styles. Keeping them going! x

ObunO: I've very relieved that the loose bun I've been doing for years hasn't been damaging my hair! I was always worried because everyone makes a fuss about ponytail holders.

Healthy Afro Hair: Thanks so much and you are very welcome! Glad to hear I've inspired you to get started on your hair journey. Best of luck :)

Healthy Afro Hair: Thank you very much. You can try massaging those areas on a daily basis each night very gently. I use Palmers Coconut Oil formula Strong Roots Spray. It contains peppermint oil which helps to stimulate hair growth. I currently have post-partum hair loss at the front areas, due to post pregnancy hormones, so this is what I'm currently doing to try to grow those areas back again.

Healthy Afro Hair: Thank you! I relaxed throughout my pregnancy.

Faith S: Hii, I've been taking notes of what you say in your vids and I'm just starting the hair growing process! You're such a beautiful woman! And I was also wondering how should you tie your hair up if your hair is just about touching shoulder length? You can kind of see roughly how long my hair is in my profile picture but yeah its just about shoulder length :)

Devine okoli: I love your videos They are really helpful!!!

Ms Jazmin: I've just started watching your videos and it's inspired me to grow my hair. I plan to return to my natural afro hair state, as my hair is quite short at the moment from a recent hair cut, is there an tips or advice you can offer that is different to that of persons with longer hair?

Healthy Afro Hair: Thank you. I have listed the products I use(d) under 'My Top 10 Hair Growth Tips Video.' As for breakage, try to keep your hair highly moisturise and not dry.

Healthy Afro Hair: Awww...thank you! I can see from your profile pic that your hair is long enough to tie into a ponytail, so why not try out the baggying method which I used in my video? Give it a try to see how you get on!
