Overall, being natural was just too time-consuming for me and I just didn't care to put that much time into doing my hair. I wan na sleep point-blank period. That'S what it was. Hey guys welcome back to my channel all about ash Before we jump into the video make sure that you hit that subscribe button and subscribe to my channel, but before we jump into the video. I just really want to say thank you guys so much for the support that I received on my relaxing my hair video before I actually relaxed my hair. I did a poll on Instagram asking if I should relax it or not, and a lot of people were like: no don't do it, so I wasn't really sure about the response. I was gon na get on that video, but you guys are honestly really supportive. Even some people that were natural were like it's, your hair, do what you want. It came out good, so I shall just say thank you guys so much for the support on that video. It'S doing really well. If you haven't seen that video definitely check out that one before you watch this one or I guess you can watch either one but check out that video before or after you watch this one but yeah, let's just jump into the video okay. So in today's video I'm just going to tell you guys what I myself me personally, what I relaxed my hair, I'm also going to point out some signs that may be an indicator that you may also want to relax your hair but yeah. Let'S just jump into it, I kind of made some bullet points, so I'm not just talking all over the place have like four main points of this video. How my hair was when I was natural thoughts on me being relaxed now my goals for my relaxed hair and signs that you may want to relax. So I'm just going to kind of put those timestamps on the screen. So if you want to skip to those certain sections of the video, you can just do that, but first I'm going to start off with my natural hair, okay, okay, let me get kind of a backstory, so I was fully natural for honestly a little less than A year so I graduated in May 2009 teen. I went to H pointless blah blah, but I moved back home, I think, June or July. I want to say a month after I moved back home me and my mom we cut off my relaxed ends. My hair was just wet one day and I was just tired of it so, where the curls stopped and the straight hair started, we need to cut that off. So that was, I don't know it was after I graduate so hadn't even been a full year. I know that so yeah I was natural for less than a year. I first became natural. I was really excited about it, you know seeing my curls and they were wet. They were cute bouncy whatever, but honestly I had to kind of figure out what kind of hair texture I had. I had to decide what I wanted to do with my hair. I guess one of the first things with my natural hair is that I didn't know what kind of hair I had in my hair texture, where they had low high porosity all the things that girls talk about when they do videos on natural hair and all that Stuff, so I was watching a lot of YouTube videos and I don't see a lot of routines and products work for girls and I'll kind of try to incorporate that into my hair care routine. If that's what you want to call it and honestly, nothing was really working for me it was just hard and it was just a lot to figure out. I don't know it was just too much for me honestly. The thing that really stood out to me about my hair is that it would be super super dry, um, moisturize it while it was um wet. When I just got the shower finished washing it all that, and it would just dry like an afro, not anything's wrong. With the afro, but my afro was extremely dry and brittle. It'S almost like my hair was gon na break off, so that was one of the biggest things for me is that I didn't know what to use on my hair and it was gon na. Take a lot of trial and error for me to decide what my hair needed and, honestly I wasn't really for it. I kind of just wanted to go to someone and then tell me: you have this type of hair and he's this this this this and that and honestly I never really got a chance to do that. I don't wan na spend too much time on that. One topic, so I'm gon na move on the next thing. Okay, so because I really didn't know what products works best for my hair, I wasn't motivated to do my hair. I would always keep it in a protective style. It was in a bun. It was in a ponytail, it was braided up underneath my wig, something like that. One of the reasons why I wasn't motivated to do my hair was because I didn't know what products to use in my hair, but one of the biggest things about me and my natural hair is that it just took a long time to do the basics and The basics for me were pretty much just washing my hair and detangling it. I don't know that was a struggle. I did not look for it to when it was wash day and I had to deal with my natural hair, so say if I was taking my hair out of my braids from underneath my wig. Oh Christ had to take my braids out I'll, have to detangle it a little bit before I got in the shower, then in the shower. I would have to detangle as washing and she I'm washing and shampoo me as I'm stumped, shampooing and conditioning then, once I was a conditioner sit as I'm washing my body and then I'm rinsing the conditioner out. I would also do tangle at the very end as I'm rinsing the conditioner out and then it still seemed like when I got out the shower. I also had to detangling my hair, so it's like I'm constantly detangling, my hair just for it to still be tangling. That'S how it was for me personally, I don't know, oh just a lot. If I want to do something simple, like a bun at first, I have to do that whole shampoo and conditioning shower process. Taking on my hair, when I get out the shower - and I personally like sleek kind of style, so if I want a bun, I went to look nice and just walk cute, so I have to detangling sections and what I'm actually doing the bun has to do. A section ecostyler section, ECOSOC, bla, bla, bla, bla bla, it's just it takes 30 minutes for me to detangle my hair and put it into a simple basic bun. Nothin cept, nothing special about it. So that was like one of my biggest hurdles. I feel like it's just that the simplest things took a long time for me and honestly I didn't care for it to take that long. I just wanted to be quick and to the point, because I'm just doing a bun like I feel like it should not take me 30 minutes for me to get my hair into nice, looking bun, okay. So on to the next bullet point under my natural hair, I kind of really wanted to swish up my hair and try different styles. Maybe a half up, half down wash and go stuff like that, and I did try it, but I wasn't really motivated to do it. The best that I could, because I was still trying to get over the whole washing and conditioning in the tangling process. Like I said, those basic steps was just a lot for me and it took out too much time and I was like I'm over it. That'S why most of the time when I have my natural hair, it would just be braided up underneath a wig or in a bun or in a ponytail. It was just a lot okay and then one of the last bullet points under natural hair is that I really when I did do my ponytails. It was most of time this eco styler and just a simple ponytail. You could see like the texture of the waves of my hair, but honestly the ponytails. I really do like to do in the bun. So I like to do our sleek ones, that you see a lot on Instagram and with the hair size and they had some blow dry, the hair straighten it press it and actually sleek it down edge control. So it's super straight, no curls! You can't see really any texture, especially when the bundle that they're using is a straight bundle. That'S the kind of sleek buns when ponytails that I like to do so. If I wanted to do those, I would have to wash my hair the tangle it go through that whole process, blow-dry it and then straighten it. That'S just a lot of things. I was doing to my hair to achieve a simple sleek style and which is why I didn't do it a lot, because I'm not trying to blow dry my hair and then straighten it just put a whole lot of heat on it. It was just a lot like I said, my natural hair. It was a lot for me. I know a lot of you. Guys may be thinking. Well, you didn't try this method. You didn't try to figure out what type of hair you had. You didn't try to figure out what types of products so make it easier for detangling or for just cleaning your natural hair and honestly, I tried the bare minimum. I just didn't care to put in so much effort to do the basics things honestly. I was kind of over it. Like I said I was completely natural for less than a year. I spent most of the time being transitioned, which about period I hated. It was a lot to detangle between the different textures I'm getting off-topic yeah. I didn't shot honestly. I'M gon na be honest. I did not try as much as I could have, but that's mainly because I wasn't motivated to just flourish with my natural hair, because I don't know it. It was just. It was a lot for what I wanted to do and the way I like to wear my hair. It'S like, if you want to be natural, you want to be natural and you know it's a lot of work, but you love your curls and that's what you like for me, I'm just kind of like I'm just trying to do a basic bun and there's just Too much work, I know that with any hair, there's maintenance to it, whether you relaxed or natural, it's just the natural route was just oh no, it just wasn't for me at the end of the day. Just wasn't for me and that's okay. If you want to be natural and be natural, you want to be relaxed, be relaxed. I honestly think you should do what's best for you. What works for your lifestyle and what works with how you like to wear your hair? Okay, so enough about rambling about being natural and how that didn't work. For me, I'm gon na move on to how I'm relaxed now. So the first bullet point I have under relaxed is just one word, effortless being relaxed. I don't know to me personally to me: it just makes everything so much easier. Yes, I know you still have to take care of your hair. You have to moisturize it blah blah protein. All this stuff. You have to do that stuff to your natural hair, for it to be healthy, but for me, because I don't have to tangle as much and it's just easier dealing with my hair, I'm more motivated to actually take care of it. If that makes sense. So because it's easier to do the basics, which is my natural hair, is kind of like shampooing and conditioning detangling, putting products and moisturizing that kind of stuff, because it's easier for me to actually get through my hair, I'm actually more of a more motivated to moisturize. It to seal it to put it in protective styles, to do a what's a call, deep conditioning to do a protein treatment. I'M more motivated to do that stuff with my hair, because it's less time consuming overall being natural was just too time consuming for me, and I just didn't care to put that much time into doing my hair. I want to Point Blank period. That'S what it was. So you could say that I'm relaxed because I'm lazy or I'm relaxed, because I can't deal with curly hair, whatever you want to say, I'm just relaxed, because it's what works. For me and honestly, I like the way that my hair looks relaxed. So, as I was saying with my relaxed hair, I can actually maintain it. I can take care of it. I can moisturize I've been water, Eisen and sailing daily or every other day, depending on what my hair needs yeah. Overall, it's just huh. It'S effortless! That'S how I feel like you stopped to take care of it, of course, but it's just so much easier and less time-consuming than it is taking care of natural hair and my opinion and how I was saying, with my natural hair, how I like sleek styles, I'm Actually, pleasantly surprised how easy it is for me to do a sleek style with my relaxed hair. Now they were like Sarah that I have now is nowhere near the same, the relaxed hair I had when I was in high school and a freshman in college. It'S not the same at all the summer on my hair is so much more healthy. I don't apply nearly as much heat, it's crazy to think that back then I was applying heat on my hair almost every day. Like I don't know what I was thinking. That was crazy, but this time around with my hair, I'm only doing heat once a month but yeah. I was talking about the sleek hairstyles um. If I want to do like a sleek bun, it's so easy. First of all, my hair, the way it air dries. It'S pretty much very straight. There'S like a little bit of texture, which I do personally like but yeah. It dries pretty straight like it's just honestly it it's so nice to deal with I'm about you. Just you got to be natural. I mean you got to be relaxed to understand the way I feel about it. It'S just going from being natural and having to deal with it and being relaxed. Now, I'm honestly very, very happy about it, but yeah it's just easier to do the type of hairstyles. I, like I, can get a sleek hairstyle with half and half the amount of time, maybe even that but yeah I do like sleek hairstyle, so I do feel like being relaxed caters more to that. I think one of the biggest pros. For me. This is really just me personally about being relaxed is that I can keep my hair hydrated when my hair was natural. Honestly, it was so dry. I honestly don't know how it didn't break off, because you could visibly look at my hair and be like that is dry. You need some moisturizer like now. My mom would tell me all the time it's a lot around the house. She'D be like your hair is dry. I'M like okay. I know I don't know what products work on my hair. I'Ve been trying everything in my hair, it's just still dry, but now that is so easy for me to actually get through my hair detangle it for it to air dry. I'M moisturizing my hair, like I said every night or every other night and I'm sealing as well. So my hair - I just love how it's been so moisturized, because when I was natural, it was so dry like even I was tired of looking at my hair, touching my hair like how dry it is yeah, because I was natural and it was just a lot For me to deal with, I did not properly take care of my hair and it was super dry. I know that's on me, probably Naturals you're like well. That'S your fault. You should have done this. Follow ball put products in here, but I wasn't motivated to because the simplest things are just a lot for me to do for me personally, that's how I feel now that it's easier for me to actually get through my hair. Like I said, I can actually keep up with it and I can apply the proper care that it needs um. One of the next bullets I have under being relaxed is that I have more freedom when it comes to wearing my hair out when I was natural. Honestly, the only Styles I really ever did it was a bun or a ponytail, or I had it braided up underneath the wig, and I know you can do so many more styles of natural hair but, like I said I wasn't motivated to because I still was On the basic steps of learning, how to get products or learning how to get the right products and learning what type of hair I had like, I said it was just a lot for me. I'M not saying that was natural hair. You can't do a bunch of cute styles with it. That'S not what I'm saying at all. It'S just for me personally and now that I am relaxed and I can moisturize my hair and it's doing so much better. I can have the freedom of doing more styles. Alright, it's raining outside, I don't know if y'all can hear the Thunder, but I have more freedom with doing more styles, so I can do a braid out. Yes, I know you can do a braid out of natural hair, but I'm more inclined to do with my relaxed hair because I'm taking better care of it, I can do half up half down, so I can have leave out. I can do this bun, which took me literally like five minutes to do how natural and I want to do this bun minimum 15 minutes 10 minutes - probably more 15 - I'm not even say 10 minutes, 15 minutes. If I want to get super sleek, because I'm gon na have to detangle in sections and whatever I'm getting off on the tangent but anyways I can do, I just have more freedom when it comes to me doing my hair and trying out different styles, one of The things about wax here is that I'm excited that I can have leave out again without my hair, going poof like really puffing up as soon as I walk outside. It'S live in Houston, so you definitely cannot have leave out if it's not relaxed in Houston, but yeah, I'm just happy to have leave out again. I kind of like the way it looks. I mean, of course, I still like my wigs and my closures and all that, but sometimes it's just nice to have leave out and again with selling my hair since I am relaxed and my hair is pretty much straight. I don't have to put as much heat on my hair in order to get the type of looks that I personally like now. I can just have my natural hair air dried and still get a sleek look. So I really do appreciate that and I feel, like that's gon na help in the long run, with putting less heat on my hair and another reason why I'm putting less heat on my relaxed hair is because, when I was natural, and sometimes I'm just kind of Over with dealing with my hair, I was blow-dry it to make it easier throughout the week with styling and just dealing with it, but now that I am relaxed my hair, pretty much air dries pretty straight for the most part, so I don't see a need to Blow-Dry it and I'm only gon na put heat on my hair once a month when it comes to styling. So for the most part, it's just how a my hair dries. I can work with that. Oh yeah, because I'm able to reduce the amount of heat that I put on my hair, I'm actually able to take care of my hair on a daily basis. I really do think that's gon na help with the overall health of my hair. The way it looks how much it grows the shine, how let being less dry, I feel like being able to do all that is going to help my hair and a long run so be relaxed, is definitely more for me than being natural. Okay. So now some of the goals that I have for my relaxed hair um, my hair - is like really choppy right now and I have a whole bunch of layers which I don't even know. I never had cut layers into my hair. It just kind of happened. I think really because when I was natural I neglected my hair and in that transition stage I really kind of neglected my hair, so I don't know, may break off um. I'M not sure why I have so many layers throughout my head, but one of my biggest goals for my relaxed hair is just to have zero layers. I just want my hair to be all the same length all around. I just want a nice even cut. So that's one of the things I'm really working on right now. My hair is kind of like on the front. It'S like right here and then in the back. It'S like down here and I don't really like the way that looks. I just went nice evenly throughout my head. Another big goal for me is just moisturizing. My hair, like I said when I was relaxed and transitioning. My hair was just so so like incredibly dry, so now that I'm relaxed I'm really making an effort to moisturize my hair daily or every other day. What should i think is sealing as needed, but yeah, I'm just really making sure that I moisturize my hair and I don't like. I don't want it to be dry at all. I don't want to look dry. I don't want to fill a dry. I just want to add moisture to my hair and, of course, another goal that I have from my hair is that I wanted to grow. I think what I don't link is about brochure please for right now, but then again I do want my hair to be all even so, I think, honestly, I think I'm gon na end up cutting my hair pretty soon. My next relaxer, I kind of just wan na even things out a little bit, take off a lot of my dead ends, which I still have because obviously, if you watch my relaxer video, I don't know how to cut my hair and I'm not gon na. Do it again? Oh, am i honestly yeah? I just want to see constant progression and my hair growing every every relaxer update that I do. I want to see my hair growing. Another goal I want to do is kind of play around like braid outs and twist outs and roller sets and flexi rod sets. I want to try it a lot of styles that don't require heat cuz. I do like the fact that I can wear my hair out, of course, like I said I can wear my hair out when it was natural. It was just a lot more for me to deal with and I feel like the styles I can achieve with my relaxed hair and more the styles that I personally like to wear so yeah. I'M looking forward to discovering heatless styles that I can wear often. So if you guys have any suggestions of some heatless styles, I should try definitely comment that below. I'M definitely going to try to do a braid out soon and I think that's Lexie rod said hey. I want to try a lot of heatless styles, so i can s, wear my hair out without damaging it and another goal I had for myself. Oh my gosh, it's kind of embarrassing to admit this, but when I was relaxed, especially in high school, I think I was relaxing my hair every month. That'S a lot so this time around, I definitely want to make it a goal to stretch my relaxers two months. Three months, I want to kind of go as long as I can. I definitely do not want to put a relaxer on my head every single month, every four weeks. I don't know what I was thinking like. What was I thinking, I don't know, that's kind of crazy to think I was doing it that often but anyways yeah. Another goal is that I just really want to stretch my relaxers and have my hair looking good throughout the stretch, if that makes any sense. Okay, I'm gon na start wrapping this up because it's really about to start touring outside, but less I'm gon na talk about science, but maybe indicators that you also want to relax your hair or that you're thinking about relaxing your hair. So the first one that I have is that you don't like how long it takes to do your hair or you don't like how long it takes to do the simplest things like washing it in the tangling it and put it in a but something that simple. If you don't like the amount of time that it takes to do simple styles and simple, to tale into your hair - and I think you might be thinking about relaxed or being relaxed - isn't a bad option for you me. That was a huge push for me to relax my hair because I was like I cannot deal with this like it's just too much. I need something, that's easier and it's just if you think it's a lot, then being relaxed it may be for you. Another sign that you may be thinking about. Relaxing is that you, like your hair best when it's straightened or you're, constantly straightening it. You won't have to put as much heat on your hair to achieve that straighten, look and you may even get that. Look while just being air dried and with a roller set. Something like that, but yeah. If you really don't care for your curls and you're, constantly straightening it and you have heat damage, minded curls anyways, then beam relaxed might be. For you. Another sign is that you want a style or a hair texture that requires less maintenance and my opinion, some out there might be natural and you think it's nothing to bility a natural here. I think it really just depends on your hair type and how long you've been natural and how much you know about dealing with your natural hair, but yeah for me being relaxed is practically no maintenance. I mean I do the moisturizing and sealing that's probably like the daily thing that I do, but it's so quick for me like I do it before bed. So obviously, I'm not about to spend a whole lot of time on my hair before bed, because I want to go to sleep. So the fact that I'm doing it before bed means that it's really easy, and it's really quick so yeah to me. B-Max is just a lot less maintenance than being natural. Okay. Another sign that you may be thinking about going locs is that you barely wear your hair out or when you do it's always in a bun or ponytail, because those are the only two styles that you can do. You want to do or the only two styles that you have enough time to put effort into, which was definitely me with my natural hair. Like I said when it was out, it was always in a bun or a ponytail, because I couldn't really put the effort into doing anything much else with it, because it just took too long. I'M like okay, just slap right into a bun slap into the pony. So that would do buns and ponytails are cute, so yeah and the last time that you may be thinking about relaxing your hair. Is that um you just like motivation to take care of your hair because of the amount of time it takes to take care of your hair, so yeah? That was definitely me when I was relaxed. I was like this is taking a lot of effort and a lot of time for me to moisturize from my hair for me to detangle my hair for me to put my hair and a protective every day style. It was just a lot and it really didn't motivate me to do my hair or to want to be natural, it's one to embrace my curls. So if that's you, you may be thinking about relaxing, I don't know, but yeah that's pretty much to all the signs. I have okay guys but yeah. That'S the end of the video. Give me a thumbs up if you found this informative or you took away something from it or helped you with your decision on. If you want to be natural or relaxed, I'm going to be doing more videos on the topic of my relaxed hair and also I'm going to be doing monthly check-ins with my relaxed hair, which I think one is going to be coming next week, so be on. The lookout for that, but yeah overall, I can just say that there's definitely pros and cons of being natural and being relaxed. I think it's just best when thinking about. If you want to be relaxed you just kind of do your research and you kind of decide what what are the reasons that you want to be relaxed. You want to be relaxed because you just think it's cute how straight hair for a little bit or do you want to be relaxed overall, because once your likes, you can have it go back and I hate for you to make that decision. And then you kind of hate it and you miss your curls and you definitely think you're gon na miss your curls after being relaxed. I would say: don't do it because for me I don't miss my curls at all. They were just kind of a hassle. For me, of course, they were cute, but um yeah. I would much rather be relaxed, but um yeah. I hope this video helps you guys um, if you liked it, like, I said, give it a thumbs up. Don'T forget subscribe to my channel. If you want to see more relaxed, hair, related videos and yeah see you guys next time, bye,

Kaneza T.: To be honest, I feel like “the natural hair journey” era was truly meant to be here to show us black women and girls that it’s ok to be ourselves whether natural, relaxed, locked, weave, wig, just... to be authentic on who we are as a culture and to accept and embrace our essence. I love us black women no matter the shade .

solarLola: She sure wasn’t lying when she said natural hair is time consuming. I feel like my natural hair has become some kind of cult I must serve.

TheeMillennial Diva: you relaxed your hair because it's your hair. im tired of people having to explain themselves for the decisions they make that doesn't affect anyone else. your hair looks bomb!!! & you are gorgeous!!!

JessicaRabbit: This is what I love about relaxed hair....you can literally moisturize every single day without it reverting into an afro!! We all know water and products that contain water are what truly moisturize hair and if you're a natural who likes wearing your hair straight, it is nearly impossible to moisturize with the ultimate moisturizer - water...on a daily basis. I just relaxed my 18 inches of virgin hair and I couldn't be more happy!!!!! I get to spritz it with water and wear hella cute braid outs everyday. Wash, dry and style takes about 45 mins. Detangling......what is that??? I should have done it sooner, because I used to lose a lot of hair on wash day because of the tension caused by trying to detangle 4c hair. Even being hella gentle and using my RevAir, I couldnt get around the fallout. Now......the amount of shed on wash day is next to none!

Tasha Williams: For me, my natural hair just stayed tucked away under crochets or braids. It was pointless to put in all that work just to keep it tucked away. I was over it. Love my textlaxed hair

Nik Nln: I feel like my relaxed hair is so beautiful that I’m not even interested in my wigs at the moment! Your entire look is

Jamie & Cahlil: GIRL! This is EXACTLY my natural hair journey & I’m so over it. I’m also a sleek kind of girl so having to go through the struggles of simply finding the right edge control was enough. Natural products are not cheap & buying so many products just to find out that it doesn’t even work, very much so frustrating. I couldn’t do a sleek, cute, quick style if I wanted to hop up & go somewhere with my natural hair. Being natural takes dedication & patience & unfortunately, I’m not about that life so I’m going back relaxed ASAP.

Deidra CP: I'm about to relax my hair this weekend from being natural for about 7 years. I can't do it anymore.

DJ R: I'm so glad to see more black women celebrating and taking care of their "natural" hair! MEeaning the hair that grows out of our scalps! Whether its relaxed (which I prefer myself) or unrelaxed...I still call it "natural" hair because that is the way I distinguish hair that isn't a weave. I relaxed my hair after 4 years of wearing it in it's kinky state. I loved my hair but it was way too time consuming, plus I missed that relaxed flow! I look forward now to finding as many black women as possible to follow that take care of their own hair and look and feel beautiful without wearing wigs and weaves.

Just Neecey: I feel like you are in my head right now lol. I have been natural for almost 6 years now and I still don’t have a clue what works for my hair ‍♀️. I plan on going back relaxed extremely soon!

danmontijo26: I tried several methods and after 3 years I went back to relaxing so I totally understand!

JaJaJantsen: I’ve only been natural for about 6 months and I’m already considering going back to relaxing...I feel like I kind of bullied myself into going natural and while I do like my curls, I just think it’s not for me. Plus I’m about to move and (hopefully) get a full time job and starting my masters program in the fall and I just can’t commit to putting so much time into my hair.

Ossie R: My relaxed hair was super dry and brittle so what I’ve learned is that no matter if it’s relaxed or natural you need a routine, technique and good products. The most important things are the porosity, texture and density.

renee: My hair is relaxed and healthy. It be the NATURAL girls who be telling me how pretty my hair is and be shocked when I tell them it's relaxed lmao. Just because relaxer broke your hair off doesn't mean it does that to everybody else.

Ayiian Xe: I did a big chop in 2018. Loved it. Then I got real depressed, stopped doing my hair, and knew that I could do better styles. So may of 2019 I relaxed my hair. And after a couple months of growing it past my shoulders, I realized I didn’t like it at all. And i knew I missed my natural hair. So I started transitioning in November, it grew in the middle of my ear(length) and I cut my hair off and I realized I enjoy taking all that time doing my hair because I’m at a happy state in life and my natural hair is my life. I’m glad you picked your way. It looks amazing!! No one should ever stay natural because they feel like there would be criticism from the natural hair police. I’m happy for you!!!

Chyna: As long as you get ends trimmed properly ,deep condition ya hair, wrap up at night with silk scarf & bonnet, not wear it down all the time ,keep hair moisturized & keep your scalp stimulated with grease or oil you'll be fine (my tips are true!

AUSOME LOVELY: I'm actually going to relax my hair this week after being natural for 8 years. I'm over it....plus I'm getting a short cut!! Thanks for your video

AngelFire: I was relaxed from the age of 19 until 55. That's 3 1/2 decades. There were many many days I spent 4 or 5 hours or more at the salon. It's a trade off. Four or 5 hours of me doing my hair vs 4 or 5 hours at the salon getting a relaxer. Again, it's a individual decision. Be beautiful right where you are however you are.

SILKY MILKY: I relaxed after 7 years for the exact reasons as you. Sectioning, detangling & time consuming . I'm so happy now & washday is a breeze.‍♀️ Btw you're so pretty & I love this hairstyle ♥️

Janice Burch: I'm also finding it way too damn time-consuming and process intensive to maintain my natural hair. I also am SO over planning my wash days around drying time! I fully support you and anyone doing whatever they want with *their* hair. Personally, I'll be doing the big chop! Looking forward to experimenting with colors and I'm keeping it short for the foreseeable future bc I don't want spend anymore time doing my hair at all. I transitioned so I think this big chop will be fun and help me love my hair again!

Auchie Thomas: EXACTLY SOME OF US ARE OVER IT!!!!! I CANT WAIT TO RETURN TO MY RELAXER!!! YES THE CREAMY CRACK I WILL BE DOING FOR 2022!!!!!!

Greeneyez0712: Everyone can’t deal with natural hair or want to. That’s your choice. You seemed like you learned about caring for your permed hair 2nd time around. I’m currently a natural, my hair is in twist since Rona started. Being is work, a lot of my youtubers don’t really post a lot like they use to either for natural hair.

Chestarr21 Batson: I understand you perfectly. OMG. Thick and coarse my hair is. A day lost on “hair shampoo day!” Detangling 30 mins before shampoo. Single strand knots. I could go on......but I won’t. I relaxed after 7 years natural. The longer it got the more time it took. As I have never in my 59 years ( 60 next month) wore a weave, braids or wigs ( my choice) it became too much for me daily. I always worn my own hair out or in twist waiting a day or two to dry when natural. I made the choice 2 years ago to relax again. I’m happy and I still wear my hair out daily as a relaxed person. Do I miss my natural hair? Yes! But not the maintenance.

luvlee: I was relaxed for 15yrs but I missed my hair and would get scabs on my scalp from the relaxers. My hair is "4c" but so easy to shampoo, condition, detangle, and is soft. Detangling takes me a few minutes and I'm so thankful. Your hair is so pretty just take care of it and you should be fine.

Ro Schexsnayder: I let my natural hair grow a lil past bra strap length.. I relaxed my hair Monday washed it yesterday and I freakin love it.. if my natural hair wouldn’t have tangled so much I wouldn’t have relaxed but I’m so glad I did.. I don’t even feel the need to straighten it & I don’t think I will just keep blow drying on medium heat and keep it moisturized‍♀️

MMB: I've been natural for seven whole years and my hair is soooo dry and tough. It seems to not be growing even though I got my ends cut and everything. It took up toooo much time, my styles didn't last long at ALL, and I'm just tired. So yea, I'm done. Back to a relaxer ❤️. Thx for sharing Lady

Madison Pettway: Literally decided today while getting a braid down that I would get a relaxer in two weeks. I’ve been natural for four years and my friends tried to bully me into staying natural lol and then I get on YouTube and find your video and let me tell you it spoke to my SOUL I’m staying with my decision lol thank you for this!

aanays: I loved your previous relaxed hair video, and I love this one! A good trim/cut will give your hair a clean canvas to grow from. For me, I love the ease of relaxed hair and prefer straight/sleek styles.

JoyintheMorn: I am looking forward to getting a texlax due to the constant knots at the end of my hair, the dryness, and the difficulty detangling it. My natural hair is no healthier than me relaxed hair...in fact I believe my relaxed hair was healthier, with the same amount of shedding.

Regina Lewis: I can COMPLETELY relate to all of this & really miss my short, pixie relaxed hair. Thank you for sharing your truth!

O B: After going natural 5 years with setbacks and all I've learned not to touch my hair when I'm tired or not in the mood and it really helped.

Sckinny Minnie: I’m new here but I’ve been natural for 5years now and I’ve been considering relaxing my hair. I have the exact same struggles that you had natural. I’ve tried soooo many products and haven’t found anything that really works for me. And doing my hair takes an act of Congress lol. But you are gorgeous as well as your hair

SIMONE: I completely understand. I’m going on 4 years natural and to be honest I don’t even like to wear my hair curly. It is very time consuming and even after all this time I’m still trying to find the right product combination for my style. I just want to be able to wash and condition, air-dry and put it up in a high bun.

Rocsi Rocsi: Thank you for doing this video. It is a relief knowing im not the only one who feels that way. I've been struggling with my natural hair (e.g., dryness etc) for several years and have been reconsidering going back to relaxed as well.

Elizabeth Mary: I'm getting a virgin relaxer on Saturday after being natural for about 7 years & I'm so damn excited about it! Ugh!!!! Time needs to hurry up...I miss my straight hair.

Ki La’Daja: I needed this video for sure!!! I've been natural going on 3 years and I cannot take it anymore! Thank you for this video

Monica Hailundu: I needed this video so bad. I've been relaxed all my life, after having below shoulder length hair I decided to big chop and join the natural hair journey and three years later I'm actually over it and for exactly the reasons you just mentioned. I feel each sentiment you shared and I'm finally ready to go back to relaxed hair. And I love how I'm such a sucker for a nice sleek bun and I'm gonna be able to do this now like I used to. I'm so excited thank you for this video. I also feel like weather relaxed or natural, black girls should be proud of how we can wear our hair how we want it in which ever texture. Love and light

Pyxelles: Oh wow I feel the same way. I've tried everything and my hair turned into a matted mess after I avoided combing out properly as it just kept breaking. The other day I lost about 1/4 of my hair after I combed out the knots and matted sections with such frustration. I'm thinking of relaxing my hair after it's recovered and will make no apologies for it. I frankly don't get why people feel the need to do YT videos explaining themselves to total strangers. It's your hair and you owe nobody any explanations what to do with it. I love your skin and dimples, you're so pretty! God bless you.

Sunflower: So happy I’m not alone in feeling like I’m over my natural hair.

Yaa Asafo: natural hair is extremely time consuming, you're so right. It wasn't until I started making videos about my hair that I found that i was spending a lot time on my hair.

misslavonne34: I was natural for 2 years and I just permed my hair! I couldn't take it anymore. Baby the fight I had every wash day was brutal! I aint mad at ya girlfriend...I understand your struggle. Do what's best for you pretty lady!!

ms. Aayoo: I’ve been having thoughts of perming my hair after being natural of about 5/6 years. Because taking care of my natural hair has become so much and depressing. Which reminded me why i had permed it in the past. But now as each day goes by I’m highly considering it ! And the only thing that’s stopping me is the “guilt” i may face because of what people will think. Smh.

Leecey Leece: My hair was relaxed from about 10 years old until I was 37 because I didn’t know any better and it made my hair manageable. I wouldn’t of dreamed of attempting to look after my natural hair - had no time or interest but knew that the chemicals in the relaxer were bad for my scalp (I have scalp psoriasis). I’ve never worn wigs or weaves as they didn’t appeal to me. Then I discovered sisterlocks and they suit my busy, professional lifestyle and desire to be natural. I think we’ve got to do what’s best for us / unapologetically. Ps - you’re absolutely stunning

Delicia Reeves: Hi. You look amazing! Love the hair. Too cute! I completely agree with you. After 5 years of being natural, I decided to go back to the relaxer, for ease, shorter time spent on wash days. Styles last longer. I was tired of losing so much hair while detangling my natural hair. I kept my hair in braids most of the time. I'm looking forward to a healthy relaxer journey as I had before going natural. I liked my twist outs on natural hair and love seeing the different natural styles. The great thing is we all have options. Each one of us can wear our hair however we want. It's not about how other people think we should wear our hair. Do what's best for you. We all should feel confident in our decisions, no matter if it's relaxed, natural, braids, wigs, fro, color, dreads, short, long. Do you!

Tiffany Roberts: I ended my two year natural hair journey today. I woke up this morning and was like “I’m so over this shit”. I got up, went to CVS, and with the relaxer, moisturizer and coconut conditioner, I spent a whole $26. I have a couple of reasons why I ended the journey. The first being the more my hair grew, the curlier it got, therefore making my hair appear to be much shorter than what it was. It was super thick, but simply wouldn’t lay flat. It would push out sideways. The second reason was I was spending SO MUCH MONEY on hair products that just didn’t respond to my natural hair, at all. I have been wearing a headband with my hair pulled back because my edges didn’t respond to a single product I bought. Also, natural hair products are just so expensive. I spent $26 today for everything I needed to care for my relaxed hair, and it will last me a few months. I had purchased a hair custard that somewhat helped my hair that was $40, and would have had to buy it every 6 days. I eventually found some oil products that were cheaper, to help stretch out the custard. The oil that helped my hair helped in the sense that it made my hair easier to comb through when I got done with washing it. The third and biggest reason was how my hair responded when I slept. I could wash/dry/bonnet my hair, but during the night, my hair was splitting itself at the crown. So when I woke up, my top half was completely upwards, leaving my crown completely flat, which started to cause some breakage. When I relaxed my hair, a part of me was kinda nervous. But to my utter surprise, my hair didn’t break or shed, AT ALL. When I dried it, I didn’t see hair flying all over the place, even my husband saw me blow drying, he said THANK YOU for getting your hair back in order. He got tired of seeing my hair in hair nets and head bands all the time.

Tay: I’m so excited watching this! 4 yrs & 6 hrs of washing/detangling/styling? Y’all can HAVE IT! ✌

Patricia: I am happy that you like and are thriving with your relaxed hair! I’ve was natural my whole life but I had heat damage. Once I discovered my curls I could never go back. I love my coily hair. When I was a straight natural in my adolescent it was very hard for me to come up with styles. Now I love my natural hair so much. I think people just like certain things

12kourtneyy: Amen, I feel the exact same way. I was natural for 6 years and just relaxed my hair a week ago! I’m so happy. I can finally take good care of my hair. My hair was also always dry and hard to maintain. Great video!

Mal: Great video ❤️ has me thinking about relaxing my hair. I’ve been natural for 4-5 years now. My only concern when it comes to being natural is I genuinely hate the idea of women with curly/kinky textures not finding our hair to be beautiful. Rubs me the wrong way and definitely stems from Eurocentricity. Don’t get me wrong, I get the manageability, style, and convenience of relaxed hair (hence why I’m considering lol), but I really cringe @ the idea of black women not finding their natural hair beautiful

Jade Ventoniemi: Thanks for sharing your story girl! I completely agree with the struggles, I’ve tried to transition “to natural” for a year now but it just takes SO much effort just to do a simple bun when my hair isn’t relaxed. Also, (to me) having relaxed hair makes braids easier & any other style easier!!

deaudrey85: I just wanted to say your dimples are super cute!! I completely understand you have to do what works for you. I’ve been getting relaxers since I was around 10 yo. My last relaxer was 2003. I’ve been natural now since 2003. But I know the struggle I wanted to so many times relax my hair again. But remember, your hair is beautiful either way.

Kay Hack: I agree, it YOUR hair, do what works for you, relaxed, natural, whatever, no one has the right to put their convictions on you, it's sad that with all the more pressing issues going on in our community we have to be divided on our hair! I have been natural for 9 years and have lived through several natural hair trends and I feel free to do whatever I want to MY hair. You should too.

Courtney Yates-Stubbs: I just texlaxed my hair today. So far I dont regret it. I actually never thought anything bad about relaxers. I love the way my hair feels.

SeoulTrain: I've been consuming these videos as I'm 94% determined to relax my hair again at this point but what holds me back is having to explain myself. I don't know how to communicate that I want to relax my hair because I want to and not because of any internalized hatred of my blackness. And maybe that's my own fear of why I want to relax my hair, but for me, it's really just so much work-especially the longer it gets. So thanks for sharing your thoughts as it's helpful to hear about other women's experiences.

karen horton: You spoke your mind and I give kudos to you. I’m fully natural (7 yrs) but after watching you, and a few others I will consider relaxing it again in the future. Right now I have the time, it does take a Lot of it! Learning about my real has been a pleasure for me. I love it’s versatility. But I now know how to make my hair thrive so should I want that change. Your hair looks fantastic ❤️

Gwen E.: I totally understand and agree! Long natural hair is a lot of work & it can be a lot to handle!!! You are absolutely gorgeous, I'll be watching for beauty and haircare tips! Thanks ...

MakeWayForCJ: When someone says that it takes more work to be natural, the standard response is always,"Well you have to take care of your hair no matter what state its in" and even though that's true, if the result or outcome I get doesn’t justify the amount of time I put into it (Ie. I'm spending a lot of time on it and it doesn’t turn out right or it reverts quickly after) then it defeats the whole purpose of doing it!I’d much rather concentrating on protecting my hair during the relaxer process as much as possible, learn how to stretch my relaxers (so that I don’t relax as often) and get the results I want to achieve after it's done than to waste time that could be used doing something more productive. <>

Dbora Teles: That's true. Natural hair demands a lot of time and effort. All that you said about take care of your natural hair I identify with. To wash my hair I have to dedicate a day and I've been so out of inspiration to take care of my hair. I tried to cut but in the saloon, they refuse to cut it. I don't judge you. I don't plan to relax my hair but just wanna say that I see you.

Akenn Art: Please do more relaxed hair videos. I’m really thinking about going back to relaxed.

Tiffany Gantt: I’m relaxing mine this week been natural 4 years and big chopped thinking I wanna change but Nope I love my relaxed hair love it being straight can’t wait to go back my relaxed hair with keratin can let me stretch for 5 months that combo for me is the goat

Back Talker: I was getting the feelings to relax my natural hair after 9 years, but decided to loc my hair instead. And I'm so happy I loc'd instead. Talk about ease and non time consuming. Yes!

Paige: I'm glad u were honest, I feel bad for naturals who feel the need to make up all these excuses to why the relaxed their hair.

MC BB: I get that it takes patience and time. As long as you are happy and your hair is healthy then do you.... beautiful! I have been back and forth between relaxed and natural. Being natural this time around has been a lot more enjoyable. A lot of these companies have stepped their game up in terms of helping us detangle and retain moisture and style memory. Learning my hair and getting a good routine allows me to have an easy experience with my curls/coils. I love not needing a flat iron, blowdryer or relaxer. When I want something more sleek I just slap on a wig. I just love the versatility to go from bone straight to curly. It's empowering. To me natural hair is magical:).

J Lynn: So glad I ran into this… everything you named is what I’ve gone through with my natural hair and I’m over it!! Will be getting a relaxer soon!

Sara Ambriz: She's so right, having natural hair is very time consuming

Sheleah Jeter: This!!! I’ve lasted 10yrs & only went natural because I was relaxing too often and over-processing it. I have a great stylist & this is the healthiest and longest my hair has been. I NEVER wear “natural styles”/protective styles only flexirod sets so I’m seriously over it. I may wash my own hair maybe once a year I can’t even manage it on my own & don’t want to. Humidity, too hot of a shower, or 1 workout it’s over!! I’ve had my edges relaxed once BUT I seriously want all of my hair relaxed and be put out of my misery lol! Congrats to you lol it’s pretty

MoonLightOnWater: No need to explain...your hair, your choice. You’re beautiful either way.

Danielle Martin: Honey I feel you, I'm so over detangling my hair it's not even funny.

Tumon Poole: Omg!!!! These are the same issues I had!! Detangling was a nightmare!! I never knew what to use on my hair. Definitely goin back to relaxer after this sew in. I’ve been natural a little over a year. Thanks for sharing!!

Wouldn’t you like to know: You’re naming ALL the reasons I’m considering getting my hair relaxed again after like 10 years! Not everyone can do the natural thing, it’s A LOT of work!!! Plus only certain parts of my hair have the curls I want to have all over my head so badly (the rest is all dry and frizzy), that alone frustrates me enough to just say forget this natural crap!!!

Yanick Alexander: I've been natural for 8 years, although I love my natural curls, it's so expensive and time consuming. I was torn between relaxing my natural hair, but you help me make the decision to relax.

Tiffani Renae: Off topic. But, can we get a hair tutorial is this hair?

Hello P.L.U.M.P: I feel like I want to go back to relaxed hair. I've been natural for 9 yrs and my hair is alot to deal with. I'm here watching your videos like yep this is it. I've grown it out to the length I'm good with so it's time. And with 2 kids now it's time I don't have the time for my natural hair and the process it takes to maintain it.

Orchestra Fusion: I feel the same way but I’ve been natural for 11 years. Now that I have 2 toddlers who both have autism, I’m so over my hair. I used to do all the things, the deep conditioning, the blowouts, the braid outs and twist outs and I’m tired. I really love how my hair looks when I do a Bantu knot out on blown out hair but I never feel like dealing with my hair anymore because it’s extremely dry like you say yours was, so I dread even thinking about doing a blowout. I was debating between locking my hair or relaxing it, but I just feel more feminine with my hair out and I like the versatility of not locking it away.

Nicole Hernandez: I really appreciate your honesty. I've never relaxed my hair before, and I'm thinking about it.

D- Rootz: I hear you sis. I shaved off my natural type 4 hair two months ago partly because it was too time consuming. I'm loving the freedom of having super short hair I didn't consider relaxing my hair because I don't like wearing my hair straight but I did consider getting a curly perm. Now that I'm growing my hair back out I'm experimenting with products that will cut down my styling time.

Mixed Popcorn Productions: I'm so glad to be seeing this, I also watched the relaxing video too. I've been natural for nearly 10 years and what do I have to show for it but dry broken and thinned out hair. Recently I have been thinking about relaxing again or at the least becoming a straight natural and even that I'm questioning. When I was relaxed my hair was long, fuller and healthy, now I wish I stuck with that.

Hair Life: Tried going natural in 2017 but I had quickly go back to relaxing in 2018. I agree, it is easier to maintain.

Philly Fly Tee: Hunni I went through a process with my own hair. My hair is relaxed as well. It came to me to use Chi, and Nexus product hair line . From that pint on I don’t have any problems with my hair. My hair is naturally thick and long. I love relaxed hair for me. For my hair I don’t use a lot of products nor use a lot of heat. My hair is so healthy. Stay motivated to take care of your hair always. Your hair is your Crown.

TheALBox: I've never been relaxed but I didn't start wearing my hair curly until college and it was a struggle. My hair was super thick and hard to detangle. I recently cut it and it made detangling easier, then I lifted/ dyed it and it literally takes 5 mins. I know the dye made it thinner but honestly, I like the thinner hair. I know it sounds crazy because it's going against the grain but I'm so glad I did. Went from over an hr to detangle to 5 mins. You do you and whatevers best for you.

Butterfly Rp: Girl, all the points you mentioned are sooo true. I am over my natural hair. I have been natural for 4 yrs now. And my hair or curls only look good in wash day or the next day. The rest of the week I always wear it in a bun cuz I am so lazy and unmotivated for styling I hate wash days because of the detangling process. It is so annoying and painful. And like you I tried so many different products but nothing just seems to work Also I noticed since I am natural my hair is super dry and shedds like crazy and got super thin. Never had these problems when I was relaxed. I am thinking about getting a relaxer just unsure yet. You look beautiful Lots of love and peace from Germany

K C: It can be a challenge learning your natural hair. I actually went to a natural hair stylist who suggested the types of products to use based upon my hair type. Also, when I want to do a sleek look I have the option of flat ironing. If I want a more controlled curl or wave pattern I do a twist/braid out on blown out hair. I think having a professional give you advice would’ve helped you embrace the versatility of your natural hair. But I understand you absolutely have to do what’s best for you and I’m happy your happy

1215katerina: Love my relaxed hair! But this quarantine has me suffering and I haven’t been able to get my new growth touched up! And I really do enjoy how my hair looks when It’s relaxed it looks soo good! Natural hair is really time consuming... I’m still debating if I should go back to my creamy crack. What relaxer do you use?

Ashley Nicole: My hair can’t handle heat let alone harsh chemicals annnnd it’s paper thin as it is lol but if relaxers work for you, more power to you baby girl! Do what works for you!

NnennaCmone: I totally understand. It takes a lot of time with type 4 hair. I’ve been relaxer free for 13 years and I prefer to wear my hair in a silk press. My stylist is the best. I had a lot of fairy knots and tangling when worn in its natural state. Girl I feel you! Lol

Jaysha Williams: I love it!! Your absolutely beautiful! Im 4c and ive been natural for 5 yrs but im over it lol your right you can do so mamy styles but soon as you step outside boom shrinkage us 4c gals and really enjoy our hair outside of the house lol keep it up your glowing.❤

Tamika Felder: i just relaxed my hair because the detangling was causing more damage than anything. Im not very big on protective styling either. i dont like wigs, wearing crotchet or braids and i very seldom do weaves. i prefer to wear my hair out. it thrives better in my opinion. all of the constant manipulation was breaking my hair. You can only wear your hair out for a day or two without having to manipulate it to moisturize or it will get brittle and break off. i will miss my kinky coils and the texture and waves when i do a sleek pony.

Deja Davis: Love this video & your channel ! I’m considering relaxing my hair for the same reasons I’ve been natural for like 3 years and I feel like my hair isn’t flourishing like it should. I’ve tried everything & nothing really works. I’m just over it lol.

Shadz: I relaxed just before lock down after 6 years of natural and honestly the best thing I could of done for my hair. So much easier and I’ve hardly worn a wig. When I was natural, the maintenance also demotivated me which led me to not enjoying my hair and just put a wig on.

Best Body Africa: Girl!!! I feel you about the bun! Sometimes I just wanted to wake up and put my hair in a bun but I would have to wet and Ecostyler each section then wait for the gel to dry otherwise it would be flaky and my hair would start sticking up. I just did not have the time!

Element true: Your hair is beautiful I have 4c hair and I’m going to relax mine too. I’ve been natural since 2011 so I given it a good go but I’m tired of being tired my hair is time consuming for the just basic styles. It doesn’t hold styles and if you want me to go out this evening then I need a weeks notice. I used to style it so lasted a week but that gets boring very quickly and I found I had to learn how to flat twist, three strand twist etc just to change it up from time to time. This wast too difficult but sometimes you want to brush your up and go. You don’t want 2 days of prep for something so basic ‍♀️ I don’t want to wear wigs because I shouldn’t have to hide or protect my hair 95% of the time because your hair protects your scalp it shouldn’t need to be hidden.  On a side note, during university I lived with 2 white girls with straight hair and trust me when I say that they have it easy, they can blow dry their hair (from wet) in under 15 mins, curl it in 5 mins and be out the house mean while I’m detangling mine! When we came home from a night out they went to bed whilst I was moisturising and braiding mine up and frantically looking for a head scarf just so I could go to bed Anyway relaxing mine won’t give me this freedom but I’m looking forward to a little more.

Gabrielle Rigaud: I do a keratin treatment once or twice a year that lasts 3 months before really washing off. Happy with it. It's pretty much fully natural a third of the year, straight one third, wavy and easily straightened at home the other third. Not doing the relaxer anymore.

Justice Briscoe: I'm so glad I found your video. I've been natural for 5 1/2 years and I was so anti-relaxer. But now as I am working on my doctorate I honestly don't have time to do a style every single day. I already don't really know how to do hair so trying to do my natural hair is a hassle. It was cool when I had the time but not now so back to relaxer I go. Thank you for your input!

leigha long: This is exactly how I feel like it’s so stressful for me. I’m thinking about relaxing my hair very soon been natural for 2 yrs

JameelahTV: Chile I've been natural for 20 years, and I can relate to awwwwwl of this. I can't wait to do be able to do sleek top bun like this.

Set to Lead Podcast: Agree with everything she said! I am going from relaxed to natural and not having fun with it either. It's hard to manage for real.

MaryMary: Being natural for 1 year make me treat my relax hair this time around much better.

Whitney Whitlow: I never took the plunge to go natural even when all my friends did.I'm for doing what I feel like works for me. Butttt you're gorgeous! That's all I really came to say lol.

Noémí Zúñíga-Pérez: So happy for honesty and I am thinking of going back myself cuz I don’t have time. Your sleek style is beautiful. You are saying what we all thinking about.

Kimberly Gibson: I’m going to relax. Lately I haven’t even wanted to style my natural hair anymore. It used to be fun learning my hair textures and curl patterns. Now it’s becoming so time consuming and painful to manage. My hair was so much more healthier when I relaxed tbh. I want to relax my hair and still take care of it to retain length. When I was younger I knew so much less about my hair Than I do now. This time I’ll be smarter and more careful not to over process.
