Alexa Chung'S Androgynous Hair Tutorial | Alexachung
Hello there! So, today I'm recreating a hairstyle that my good friend and hairdresser George Northwood once created for me for the British Fashion Awards in 2017 - it's a real favourite of mine. Often when I'm wearing a super feminine dress I like to do something a bit more androgynous with the hair to counterbalance the vibe. Hope you like it. Here we are again, I feel, like you might like these. I love them. We are gon na. Do a video today about what we're going to do a style that you did the British Fashion Awards. Yes, if I have an event or something smart to attend, I like sometimes to keep my hair quite androgynous and so in masculine, if you're wearing a very feminine dress that there's a counter balance between the styling and the look because otherwise, if you go to princess It'S boring so the same with when I'm styling accessories like if I've got a really sexy short dress on. I want to wear a flat shoe or whatever it's always about kind of tension between these things. So often, if I have the luxury of george north were doing my hair for an event. If i want to have an androgynous look, he's really good at pulling this one out of the back. So here we go with the side, parting slick man. I feel like a woman hair totally you've started off here, your normal, like beachy, cool girl self. So what we're gon na do is we're going to smooth the hair a little bit. Oh so nice to have your hair brushed, keep brushing okay. So what we're gon na do is we're gon na take the hair onto quite a deep side, yeah, which we do quite sometimes on you. Don'T we've just that kind of yeah, but you know what you're on the right side there, because my hair's got like a cow knocking. Why can't right tree there? I wouldn't mind it a bit deeper than even deeper yeah. Well, I think it should be like by the art of the eyebrows. Okay, where is that comb over? No just do disco deep. I see sure I like that too. So if you put the hair in a new parting, sometimes you'll find that it will kind of not really want to be there. So we're gon na get the hair dryer mm-hmm when I'm just gon na put the dryer air dryer in the heat on the partying. We'Re the new parting is just to kind of set it in place, okay and then we're just gon na brush it through. I feel like I'm at a hair, show again you used to do those, oh god. Yes, when I was a model, they used to pay. Really well, these hair shows I wouldn't work for like months and then a hair show would come up and what it is, is local, salons all bring one model with them and they compete this like big trophy and they of course, pay. You really well because they basically ruin your hair for the next five years of your life, so they'll be like. We are gon na dye, it a weird color and we're gon na cut it all off. But we will give you this amount of money and every time I'd be like oh okay, so I just have some really funky hairdos. It was very, I can't say what I'm about to say so anyway, with your hair's already got a nice wave in here, but I'm just gon na sort of Tom, just really the last little bit done. You see it sticking out of it. Yes, I'm gon na flatten that there I want a really really relaxed Tong. I don't want it to be too curly here right. I just literally really Tong and really pull it straight after to sort of really set it quite straight in place. Okay, you're gon na have to invent some new hairstyles for me, because that really is the gauntlet. That'S the full suite. Isn'T it it's up half up down down with a side? Maybe that's the point. You only need a small repertoire. Well that and that's thing any things that suit me and also I can't leave others well, it looks so nice with it. Your has such a thing sort of just being wavy and natural. It kind of works with everything that we don't need to do loads of different stuff. I do think I've missed out on bleaching it maybe just once just to see it's never too late. No, I think it's too late, because what if it ruins it and then have to spend the next five years growing out, that's when we do the crop. If I had the crop, I think I just don't love my brother know. So I'm literally just very loosely tonging here. Isn'T it right here because I'm good at YouTube? No cuz you're just gives an old gift of the gab. It'S the bloody gap. That side looks really good, so we don't even need to do that. Don'T need to do anything. Oh wow, can you get I'm gon na show you and I mean I'm gon na. Do one step and show you I'm gon na have to give you a tip around that little there. I thank God just the tip with George northwards he's kind of sticking out here, but that's fine. So if you want to create a wave that kind of does this kind of sleight Veronica Lake, you should always tongue in the same direction, uh-huh so tongue and brush it through. So we're given going through more of a brush. So then it gives it like a circular movement. It only really works if you tongue in the same direction. I never knew that and I thought I could ace this one. No, that's very good! Actually, though, I taught I do Tong both backwards, because otherwise, what happens here is this tongs in on the face yeah yeah yeah, so I Tong backwards to the middle yep backwards to the middle yeah and then brush it and then just brush it through. Oh nice, really nice, yes, here's annoying me well. You'Re annoying is George chased me down the street the other day with some scissors. I did actually it's really annoying me a little tip for flyaways you're gon na love. This yeah clay makes you wait. Isn'T he little tip for flight? Well, anticipation, grab yourself a Mason Pearson aura like any bristle brush or use a toothbrush yeah. I don't want to then use it again as a toothbrush. They don't really hurt spray their brush. What'S that doing then, and it's smoothing down all your fly ways how nice and then you know you said that bear the front this week, it literally just Asian baby huh cool. Can I have a go on that yeah? That'S quite nice cool! This might be my new favorite things. You know, I love watching my eyebrows. Look, how nice that is when you brush like a brushed wave. So, basically, you do the Tong that we did in the earlier video and then you brush it to leave its flatter and straighter at the front. Also, I fill up before we've even left a bit of hair there yeah yeah, oh yeah, you look a bit kind of. I think we did that for the fashion because it was so fashion. Can I have like how how do you want it? Okay, what I'm gon na take that tiny bit I'm gon na put hairspray on my finger. You old sea dog, you yeah cool how's, that I love it. I love it! Thank you! It'S possibly one of my favorites. That'S really good! We need to remember this one. Actually, all the outfit of like serum through the Midlands and ends, but if you know if you've got poorest hair, but you really don't so.
