Hey guys, this hair tutorial will show you how to do a Chinese Staircase Stitch/Knot on your hair. I got the inspiration from the friendship bracelet stacking trend that's been all the hype this summer. ^_^
This hairstyle will also work if you wear hair extensions. :D I chose to do this with a side ponytail but you can have it at the back as a low ponytail or a half-up ponytail. You can even continue the stitch all the way down and it will appear as a unique braid. This hairstyle involves no braiding and it's easy to do on medium to long hair. Hey guys today, I'm going to show you another fun way to jazz up your ponytail. This hairstyle is called the Chinese staircase braid, because you use the same technique. You would, if you were to make the Chinese staircase knotted bracelet. I did make a few adjustments because my hair is layered. So if you want to see how I did this, then keep on watching to start gather your hair to one side to add volume to your ponytail. You want to section your hair horizontally, close to the top spray it with some hairspray grab a fine-tooth comb and gently backcomb. It a few times continue to back comb, your hair until you reach your desired volume when you're happy with the volume take your comb and gently comb out the surface. Now you want to separate a chunk of hair closest to your face and tie the rest of the ponytail with an elastic band. So basically, what we're going to do is use the first strand of hair to start the first knot to create the Chinese staircase knot. You want to make a right-to-left knot, so just place the hair across your ponytail and pull it through on the other side just like. So since my hair is layered at the front, it is shorter. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to add some hair from the ponytail to the main strand, and this will add length to combat flyaways. You can always use some gel and what I did was I actually place some gel on a piece of paper and I just stamped my finger into there whenever I needed it so put your main strand over the ponytail and grab the end of it through the Other side push the knot up to hide the gap, and, once again you want to pick up some hair from the ponytail incorporate it into the main strand, gel it to prevent some flyaways and create the staircase. Not when I was a kid I used to make a ton of these Chinese stickies, knotted bracelets and I used to like collect them and then trade them with my friends. All those are the days now, depending on your preference. You can knot your hair all the way down and just do the whole ponytail, but I'm just going to stop halfway to tie off the knot. You just want to grab an elastic band and just put it over the funny tail. So when you're done, you should have something that looks like this and to give it a fun effect. I like to twirl it around, and this gives it a really interesting light. Here'S the knotted ponytail from afar. It'S really intricate. Now I'm going to remove the first elastic band with a tiny pair of scissors. If you don't trust yourself, get someone else to help you with this part. This is optional, but I'm just going to push up my knot to give it a bunched up. Look. Of course, this is totally up to you. You can have it as loose or as tight as you like. If you want to shorten your knot, just take an elastic band and tie it up to the point where you want it to be shortened, then remove the elastic band at the bottom and unravel the knot, and that's all there is to it for this hairstyle. I also want to give a big thanks to my Instagram followers for helping me name this, because I did this her cell and I didn't know what to call it. Actually, when I showed this picture, a lot of people thought it was a lace, braid or some kind of fishtail braid, but, as you can see, is much easier to do than all of the above anyways.
