The Best Automated Hair Curling Iron?!

I got my hands on the Chi automated curling iron. This might be the best automates curling iron on the market, and there is a list of automated curling irons on the market already, everything from T3 to to beach waver, to revlon. It is very easy to use, very easy to learn, it has a temperature control, and a timer. There are all the features that i'm looking for our of a hair heat tool. Check out my full product review for this chi curling iron.

I'M finally getting my hands on and testing the Chi air spin and curl heat tool for you guys, so many of you asked so I could review this, and today's gon na be simple. Video we're gon na demonstrate see how it works on this hair right here that I have hair texture is fine, and I don't have that much of it, and it's straight so we'll see how well it works and how easy it is that all that good stuff Grabbing some scissors and I'm trying to open this up for right here, so I got this in Amazon and it retails for 109 US dollars. It'S not cheap, it's quite expensive. Actually I thought it was gon na be cheaper, but she hair products. She hair tools usually range around the $ 100 mark range, and this is their one inch tool, so you're not gon na get such loose waves or curls they're gon na be a little bit more on the tighter side, and this already feels very heavy. So I'm just comparing it to the Dyson and they feel similar enough yeah, it's not too bad. It just feels heavier than a flat iron or curling iron, because this is essentially a curling iron. Alright, so let's see how low we can go with the temp, so we can go as low as 180 degrees Fahrenheit, which is amazing, usually they'll, give you an option as low as like 275 we're like 300. Let'S see how high we can go, we can go as high as 410 and I do like that. The temperature reader is a digital. Alright, so also what you can choose is your desired setting timer. So, for example, they have an option of 15 seconds to hold your curl in 17 seconds and 19 seconds, I'm going to choose 19 seconds just because I'm on a lower temperature setting, which is 300 alright. So they also give you a little card of how to use it properly. They give you instructions which is really great, and then I like that on the actual tool itself. It shows you this side towards your head, so you're not confused as to where you should be placing it and you do get the little arrows away from your face and then towards your face. That'S really cool. I like that. It'S automatic okay, I'm gon na put a timer on stopwatch start all right, so I'm just gon na insert it into the chamber, which is just at the top, and you just start pressing which button you want to go, which direction. So the hair is inside the chamber. Now you hold it there until you hear the four beeps, and that means the timer is set, and you just take the curl out the one thing already I don't like. I can't see where the hair is going there. We go okay, I press the wrong button, alright interesting, so it gave me the curls that I expected, which are just very simple, curls all right, so I'm gon na do the other button. Instead, all right, so you just put it towards the top, and then you press the button which you, like I'm gon na, go the opposite way now, which is away from my face, and you have to hold the button until it stops rotating itself like over the Button and then just hold it there, which I do like that part. You don't have to keep holding the button constantly for nineteen fifteen to nineteen seconds, but again the curl. You can't really get a variety of curls. That'S the one thing yeah, not a fan! You do have to work with smaller sections, because you don't want to get your hair stuck in the chamber honestly with the functionality. It'S really easy to use. You just put the hair towards the top right in that little slip or the little dam that they have built the little valley. And then you just hold a hair until you feel like getting sucked around the chamber that sucks it's just rotating around the chamber and then you hold it there. I like how easy it is to use super easy: [ Applause, ], [ Applause, ], [ Applause, ]. I'D curl that the wrong way whoa, my back, is hurting. Let'S see how long it took took almost 22 minutes from start. To finish, this looks very intense. This is not the type of curls that I like, but these are the types of curls that I wanted when I was a lot younger, like six, seven, eight, nine ten years old, I wanted those like doll curls. This is literally what you will get. They are very bouncy, but already I don't like the fact that you can't have versatility with this tool and this tool is already expensive. It'S over a hundred dollars and that's the one negative job back. I don't personally like these curls. I wouldn't wear them on an everyday basis. So therefore, I am NOT gon na be reaching for this, and it's probably gon na go back, because this tool is not for me pros. I love that it does the job and it advertises what it does and, honestly, with a little bit of practice, the first couple of strands you get the hang of it really quickly. I like to have a lot of options. You have the amazing a temperature setting. I like that, you can have 15 to 19 seconds. I like that it does rotate for you and then it stops and I like them, does a little beeps for you, letting you know that your curl is done and you can just take it off. I love that aspect. I love that it does not get hot whatsoever, so you can place this on your head without burning yourself. Just make sure you don't place your finger on the actual gold part, which is the barrel inside chamber, and it's very simple. I, like that, it's simple to use. It is a little bit heavy and my back is hurting right now from sitting here for almost 22 minutes and curling this over all the tool is doing what its advertising to do. I really like that aspect, but I don't like that. It doesn't have versatility. You guys know I'm huge in versatility. I like products that I can do more than one thing with. I do want to brush these out. I'M just gon na use a regular hairbrush and I did some sections accidentally towards my face, which I didn't want to do so that was a tricky part also trying to understand where in which way the curls go, because you are using your mirror alright. So I think this side, when it's brushed out actual, looks pretty nice just because you have so much volume in a body from the mid to the ends of your hair. Like look at the difference, I think you could create a really nice hairstyle with this, using type of like old Hollywood type of curls, going towards your face, all of it and doing like a super deep part, and I think that would look really pretty honestly. What do you guys think of this tool? What do you guys think of this heat, this type of hairstyle personally, for like an everyday? It'S not my favorite, but I think it's fun and it's different. It'S giving me a lot of body. I like that. Let me do a little spin for you guys. You can see what it looks like all right, so there we have it honestly. I am pretty impressed with the tool I like the many different options that they give you. You can really customize it to your hair type. I really appreciate that. I love the tie. Marry makes it very simple for me. I like that the chamber like the outer portion does not get hot whatsoever. I did have a little bit of issue on my right side, holding it with my right hand and looking into the mirror, trying to make sure I place the hair perfectly through just because with the mirror. Sometimes I can get disoriented. I'M sure many of you do and then I do like that they have a little guide here, this always towards your head and make sure you keep it like at a 90 degree. It makes it very simple. I like that part overall, if you do want this type of tool, if you want this type of hair and this curl maybe look into it, I think this type of curl it does a good job for this tool. Specifically, you can still achieve this curl with a curling iron, but a lot of the times, because it has that clip. You can create little kinks in your hair and you'll see it little straight lines. So if you are looking specifically for this hair style and this hair curl, you might really enjoy this. This does have really great reviews online, and I can see why, specifically for this hairstyle, I think it does. I think you did a phenomenal job, but do I recommend it over a curling iron or a flat iron? No just because it's not gon na replace my curling iron or flat iron, and I can do a lot more styles with those two other tools. So that's my take on it. I think it's a great at what it does, but it does lack in versatility. So you'd be the judge of what you want and if you think this will be a great investment for you in your hair, styling hair care option. I think, honestly, this is a pretty great tool for what it does. So. Thank you guys so much for watching spending time with me, and let me know what other hair tools you want me to test out, and I will see you in the next video. I love you all very much. You

Lorraine Green: I love mine! But I’m older and disabled. This is the only tool that allows me to make my hair look decent without burning me. Plus my hubby can use it on the back of my hair which I can’t reach. I do understand your reservations about it. You’re one of my favorite YouTube people!

Katie M: Here’s a tip I use to curl my hair; Split all of your hair into two parts, twist one side completely then take a hair straightener and press it against the twisted hair. Hold pressure for 20 seconds all the way down to the bottom. Wait for the hair to cool then shake the twisted hair out gently. Repeat on the other half of hair you parted. This takes less than 20 minutes and works for me very well. You should get perfect curls every time and you won’t spend $110. Also you’re beautiful Malibu! Thanks for the video.

Janet Yamashige: Thank you for this review! I really like that the temperature range starts so low. As you pointed out, not a lot of hot tools start out that low, so this is good for people who are cautious about using heat on their hair. I think for people who are "good at" messing with their hair, you're right, this is not versatile enough, especially for the price. But for people who struggle with their hair, and have never gotten the hang of using curling irons or wands or flat irons to curl their hair, this will be worth it.

Holly Yoder: For someone who is wand challenged, this is PERFECT! ‍♀️

Cheyenne Stephens: I have this tool and love it! I can get bigger sections in there and brush it all out when I’m done. I always do my hair first so that way while I’m doing my makeup, the curls can fall, but this is my go to hair tool.

Sheyla Fernandez: I found this curler at Marshall’s for like half the price! So that was a big plus for me. I have to say for long hair this is amazing because it would take me forever to curl my long hair with a regular wand.

VaJenna: This would probably be great for people with mobility issues...I also think it would be fun to use on someone else I like it!

Vina Kane: This has to be the most non biased review I have ever seen! Thank you for your honesty! Do you have a video of doing curls like the beach wave look kinda thing? Thank you so much!

Caroline Lopez: I actually kind of love it, in spite of the price, no point in having cheaper wanda or curling irons if you can’t make it work. Obviously better once brushed out. Thanks for the review.

Carolyn Haney: It looks great. Especially if a person can't figure out flat irons or hot curlers.

stupor mundi: What do I think of this tool? Well after you brushed them out... I think "shut up and take my money" ❤ I'm not good with wands or irons, the curls get uneven and I get burned a lot. It's so upsetting I just don't do it. This wouldn't burn me and has a timer and does the job of curling on its own.

Amber MistALEtoe: I bought my Chi curler from Ulta. I used my points and got mine for around $50. I love this curler because I suck at using wands. The problem I do have with it though is it's kinda hard to do the back of your head.

Zoraida Pereyra: I love the volume that it gave your hair after you brush it! And that's the type of waves I want in my hair so yes I'll be buying this now! Thank you for your review!

nokaoimaui05: It looked beautiful after you combed through everything. I also remember you have been working to extend the time between washings. It seems you might gain more options of styling with relaxed curls, especially with your workouts and such. best scenario however is if the price was somewhat lower..

Lexi Slanda: one of my friends got me this for my bday and i love it. i set it at 370 (what i would normally do for my hair, dirty blonde, straight and thick, with my flat iron) for 19 seconds and it will hold the curl for a day or two, while with a normal curling iron my hair would be straight by lunchtime. 10/10 would recommend.

NordicPhoenix: I personally am THRILLED to finally see a 1" barrel automated curling iron from Chi. I like the tighter curl because my thin fine hair does not tend to hold a curl well.....I need a tool that gives me a tighter curl to start out with because it is going to relax so quickly. The automated "wave curl" tools on the market don't work for me that reason. I know I'm not alone in the struggle to get a curl to last in my hair..... and when I use pre-curling type products to help a curl last, those just weigh my hair down and I completely lose any volume I have. As far as the price goes..... I think $109 is fair price when you compare it to the average price of other good quality flat irons, wands, and curling irons with the same temperature control settings.

Lorie Lundgren: I love that style of curl...looks beautiful! Maybe I could possibly curl my own hair with this tool.

Rebecca Blashock: Curls brushed out are pretty on you! Thanks for the review! :D

Tamara Morton: I think it would look better parted on the side, possibly. I thought the end product looked pretty. Thanks for the demonstration. I wouldn't buy because of its lack of versatility.

KS Corbitt: Have to say that I snagged one of the Bio Ionic flat irons that you always mention (ones with vibrating plates). i already have one bio ionic single pass one, but at half off today I couldn't fight the temptation. AAAAANNNND, low and behold there was a video of you on Ulta's site using the tool, so bingo! Can't wait to try it out.

Spikey Bunny: Your hair looked amazing after just a quick run through with the hairbrush! I’ve been thinking about buying one of these & now I will! Thanks!!!

Fairy Fellers Master Stroke: I do not like the fact that it's not curling the part close to the roots, only curls the bottom half. Btw, I like how your hair turned out!

Erin Kelligher: Love how it turned out! Once it was brushed out and it relaxes a little it will be so pretty. Maybe 15 sec would be less Shirley Temple

Alejandra Reyes: I have this tool and it has simplified curling my hair! I brush my hair to get a more lose curl

Anita Eggink: Milabu, thanks for this review. I cannot for the life of me curl my hair so I’m thinking of giving this a go. My hair is just above my shoulders but I’m trying to get it a bit longer yet. Should I get the 1 inch or 1.25 inch version? Thanks in advance for replying.

JackOllie4: Too expensive for me, but the brushed hair was pretty, and I think those type of curls could go on to make several beautiful half-up looks!

Cecelia Hartigan: Hi! I am debating between this curler and the new cordless Conair curler-- which do you think would be better? I am not good at curling my hair :)

Helene Mink: I think this tool is so much easier to use than other hot hair tools. My hair is long so I love the soft curls

Jen: Another problem with this is that it only works on medium to long hair, whereas a curling iron or straightener can be used on short hair.

Sophia Moskalo: Speaking of curling hair, I know you love using the Bioionic flat iron. Have you ever tried their curling iron? I searched, but dixn't see a video. I was curious as to how you would like it?

Breasiq: I would love to try this !! I’ve seen it around

onions broccoli: This is such a cool device!!! I actually want to purchase it.

Michelle George: I own this and love it. For me it was worth the price. I have long very thick hair. I love the beach waves that it gives me. I thought your hair turned out great.

Sarah Nichols: For those of us not dexterous enough to handle a curling wand this is an awesome product. If you are like me, I was always burning myself or can not getting the curl right. Thank you Milabu for the review. I love mine.

AshleyLynn918: I think it looked really cute after being brushed out!

smangelchi: I would really like to see some tools used at the root. I feel like the look you got may be because it was too low on your ends. I’ve never like curled/ waves only on the ends and I would like to see tools that’s can give you a curl pattern from the top.

Laura Seymour: I like it! It looks easy to use and your hair is so full. I’m going to put it on my wish list.

freesimorgh: This is the exact curl that I want! I'm definitely ordering this!

oneofakind: I think it would have looked great if you flipped your hair to the side I'm not too fond of the straight down the middle part with curly hair. I love the curls tho

Meredith Eades: I have this and I swear it’s the only thing that curls my hair enough to stay in my fine hair. Love it.

momcharisma88: I got one yesterday. It's was on sale on bed bath and beyonds website for 74$ and then on top of that I did a in store pickup and used a 20% off coupon. With taxes, I paid roughly 64$. Which is much better pricing imo. I really enjoy this thing though. I cannot curl to save my life. This thing was so easy. I had my thick long hair curled in maybe 10 minutes

K Sag: I bought this recently and love it! Maybe try standing while doing it. I have much longer hair and it took me less than 20 minutes.

Robin Alvarado: Once brushed out - your hair is gorgeous! It looks so beachy! I love the tool and will be purchasing Thanks for the review!

ashley gonzalez: I was a little hesistant but first of all when she combed the curls out it looked amazing! 2nd of (short story for those who care to read) but I wanted Hollywood Waves for a wedding but she ended up leaving me like Shirley Temple, even after combing it out, I spent so much money for a hairstyle I hated so I was set on doing it myself I’m not good with wands or curling irons so when she mentioned Hollywood waves I was like OKAY I’M SOLD this just might be what I was looking for

Linda Perlak: It looks great! You could brush out or part your hair on the side! Georgous!!

Grace26262: I own this tool and it works great! I also liked these results!

Theresa DeLustro: I really love the results, not so much the price. Great tutorial

CS Richardson: Your hair is really growing quickly! I actually like the hair when brushed out. I empathize with the confusion in placing it correctly on your non-dominant side. It happens to me, too. I just purchased the Kristen Ess flat iron and that with the Revlon One Step Volumizing hair dryer does just fine for my short fine hair. I appreciate your videos very much! You always give me a smile. ⬅ (see?)

MrsLoretta: I think your hair looks nice after you comb through it..You are so good with the curling iron..and you can do the same thing plus more styles.. Styles are too limited for the the price of the tool...Love your hair longer....xoxox Loretta

You're Doin Too Much: I would be terrified that my hair would get stuck in the chamber. I also feel a 19 second hold time is too much heat. Lastly, sausage curls are not a style that I think anyone desires. This product needs to be reworked. Great review, thank you for being honest.

Michelle Marie: I really love this, i want this plus the new revlon one step hair dryer brush, plus i prefer the tigher curls over loose waves

Celeste Platte: Cool gadget but very time consuming. I think I would only do this on special occasions.

Jeza B: Cat on a trampoline! Those are some curly curls! Thanks for showing using it on the back of your head, as that’s always the hardest part. I don’t think I’d get it, as I agree that those aren’t the type of curls I like.

Bees_nail_art: I tried curling my hair today with my new hair straightener two parts worked well the others wouldn't curl

Mary C: I got one because of your fb review of the other 2 brands..Chi was only $77 with a combo silk oil..on Amazon I love mine, I have very long thick curly hair and this smooths it all out..the key is to turn the handle and do a top row going back...then pull out the curls, so much easier then rolling by hand

Christy Patton: I don't hold my hair in the chamber that long, so I get a wave instead of a tight curl. Just release your hair before the 4 beeps. I love the wavy look.

Carol Miller: Great job! Love your videos can you do a tutorial on tanning creams for face and neck ?

Riley Verwers: You should try getting looser curls or waves out of it that you like by turning the temperature down and holding it for less time.

Teddy Burr: Well Milabu....I must say I LOVED the result - when you’d brushed the curls gently through!! It gave a soft very flattering look on you.....feminine. Do agree it’s restricting though - giving just the ONE curl style for such an expensive tool. Great for ladies who have difficulty using tongs and wands but want a curl though!! Teddy UK. xx

Wendy OKarma: I just got this product and used it for the fist time today. I have collar length thin hair, but I was having a hard time using this curler for the back of my head and the left side of my head, since I'm right handed. I was looking in a mirror, so I kept getting confused which way to hold this product while doing the back and left side of my head. Does anyone who has the same length of hair that I do, have any helpful tips or tricks to help me get the back and left side of my hair done. Thank you!

Carmel Hilal: Just watched this after your review on Conair Unbound, does the CHI have a bigger chamber? I have thick hair so my concern with Unbound is it would take too long a time. I am hoping this one allows bigger sections

Andrey Burykin: Just want to say you do great job on all your videos! :)

Bijayalaxmi Shrestha: I learned curling hair from your videos but I could never get my left side match the right side and loved the curls btw

Robyn Schneider: I love mine, works great and makes great curls

Carla Popper: Yours curls are pretty!

Teddy Burr: LOVE your hair with that Curl!! It really suits you. Just cannot understand why you did not like it.

Sara French: Tools like that aren’t for me because I like to overdirect and curl all the way to the root to get the most volume in my curls. I like my hair to be big and full of secrets lol

Lynn Downey: Too bad it did not offer different sized curler wand sizes that were interchangeable within the one unit. Your hair lookled great once complete if that is what you want but like you,I wouldn't want that tight of a curl on the daily. Thanks as always for the reviews and all you put into your channel/content. Peace and love xo

-Nellie -m: I think the curls looked nice on you once you brushed them out, you could do other styles with the volume it gave to your fine hair, I liked how your hair turned out, but I’d part your hair to the side instead, I have one similar that gives my hair bounce and makes for a nice messy bun, either to the side, mid back or on top....Great Review....

mess s: Ever since your hair grew longer you have posted so muchso thank you Malibu

Ann M. S: Milabu, did you try the Termix brush Flat Pro or you can try it? I read a lot about Termix products and people say they are awesome. They say you can curl your hair also, maybe you can try it for another video! I really love your channel ❤

GlacialImpala: Too bad you didn't try lower heat or bigger chunks. I managed to get very loose pretty curls at the lowest setting. Also my hair is mid-back and I worked with fairly large sections without issues. When I upped the heat to MIN +20 degrees it started to get this 'intense' look as you say.

Liliane Lelis Oliveira: Nice video, Milabu! I still think it is a little expensive, but thanks for the informations!!!

linkinladie328: Can you add your products when using this? I like to use the heat protecting spray, sometime I spray a quick mist of hairspray when I curl. Does the products damage the barrel?

Jenni: Wonder how well it works on long hair. Thanks for your review!

Sammi Woodbury: I do not use any heat on my hair except for very special occasions and this looks great for someone like me who isn't well versed on the hot tool how-to's. My only qualm, however, is that it doesn't seem to get close enough to the root so you don't get as much body as you do on the ends and for the price i'd expect it to fold my laundry too.

hristianah: Does this damage your hair less than the normal curling irons?

Kara Hunter: I love the way it looks, super cute!

Meg Phibbs: Please please do hair tutorials (the videos where you show us several for “short hair”) with your hair at this length before cutting it!

Flaca Diabla: Everyone says the Dyson system is expensive, but all these other one hit wonders are far more expensive if you add it all up, not to mention all the items you'll have to store.

Stacey Shaffer: This would be perfect for me to do waterfall curls with my hair

armywife85613: I have extremely thick, coarse hair that does not hold a curl for anything. I bought this from Sally’s & used a coupon figuring “what the heck?” This thing holds the curl in my hair all day. My curls don’t come out that tight & almost look like a beach wave. I love this thing!

Lara Olalia: I think you could get looser curls by having the hair in shorter. I saw this in another review. But you shouldn't have to look online for solutions

Lou Pinx: That looks great! I want to try that looks super easy

Bethany Weeks McClure: Have you tried the Lena GenieCurl? It is very similar to this one but looks sleeker. I am curious how the curls would compare.

Lena: brushed out curls look better than any other hairstyle I saw you having before. I'm sold. :)

Carolyn Haney: Your hair really does look fantastic

Cari Davenport: Honestly you’re hair looks nice and it does it’s job but the most is spend on it is $15-20.

Darcy Huff: Your hair looks so healthy and shiny

Marcelina Smith: I already decided I wanted it if it works and this video answered that for me so thank you

Unknown Person: I need that since now I have a bad shoulder and not able to use my wand thanks for the review :)

pinkfloss86: Not sure if you can get them in your country but I recently got the glamoriser straighteners and wow affordable and leave my hair super soft. Would love you to try them if you can get them x

Vicky: I think your hair looks nice, that is what I would be looking for in a curl.

Kazzie 293: Looks lovely after you brushed it out

Nicole Destiny: Thanks for always promoting affordable products and alot of YouTubers think 100 tool is cheap and it is not so the fact you think it is I respect so much because 100 for that tool is not cheap especially for not having versatility

Agnes E: I have very thick and wavy hair, but when I was little I REALLY wanted those curls

emm emma: Hi Malibu I would love for you to try the cloud 9 curlers. I have the hair straighteners and they wipe the floor with ghd. Sorry if I have spelt your name wrong I've had quite a few vodkas x any excuse ha x love ya xxx

Bluecordmom: Thank you for reviewing. My hair is a bit longer so..... I'm thinking I'll just continue to save for the Dyson 400-500 package you reviewed..... The pink brush you used to brush out curls.... what is it??

Helen Victoria: This tool maybe expensive but after you brushed out the curls, I think this style is gorgeous on you! Cutie pie

Tonda Lynk: I own this and it's the only way I can curl my hair and have it look decent
