So curling long hair with a flat iron. Should you do it? Should you use it? Probably not, but if that's the only thing you have, then go for it. Now the size of your flat iron is going to make a big difference. If it's too wide, you won't be able to make a curl. So it has to be small enough to where you can actually twist the hair into a curl. It won't be the perfect curl that you will use with a curling iron, but it will work.
We'll start with doing a separation about one inch, and then from here, you will slide the iron into some-- he only way you're going to make a curl is actually more at the end of the piece of hair you're going to use. It's not something to make ringlets. It's more something to make a loose wave into it, just to give a little movement. If you actually curl your hair that you like smooth and straight, that would be the perfect way to do it, because you can actually smooth that part with it and give a little curl at the end.
So you can actually smooth that piece of hair and at the same time, give it a little movement, a little wave. This won't give you a curl. It will give you a wave instead of a curl. So what you'll get is just a slight movement, not a curl, but a movement. This is not something that you need to go from the roots all the way down, unless you have really curly hair and you want to make it smooth and straight. It's mainly for to curl the end of it. So since we used the flat iron to actually curl or give a wave or movement to our hair, that means flat iron, that means flat hair, two at the same time. So the only trick to that will be actually, to do a little bit of a teasing to give a little bit of fullness to the roots.
Because like I say, a flat iron makes your hair flat. So you will take a small section and start just at the roots. Do not go all the way up. Just keep it concentrated to the roots. Take another section and that's called roof lifter. Now the trick to that is actually now it's like the process of actually combing the hair without taking out the teasing. So that means putting your hand underneath so you don't touch the teasing, but just smoothing out the top of the piece. Now if you brush it or comb it too much you will completely take away the teasing. And actually that gives it a little bit of the fullness of the root without looking like 1965.
