Hi everyone welcome back to my channel beauty by dn. Today, i'm going to show you guys how to trim your hair right in your own home. Now i usually recommend that you go see a professional hairstylist to get a trim or a cut. However, life happens. I know a lot of moms who just don't have time to go to the salon. Maybe you want to save money or maybe your stylist is so booked up and can't see you for another month, but your ends are fried well. Not to worry. I'Ve been doing hair for about 10 years now, so i've decided to put together a very easy, step-by-step tutorial, to show you guys how i trim my own hair. Let'S get started so for this diy trim. You will need a fine-tooth comb, hair, styling, shears and four clips to section out the hair, i'm going to start off by brushing the hair with the paddle brush. We want the hair to be smooth without any knots with the comb. We will create a center part to ensure that the part is centered. Take your comb and line it up to the center of your nose. Now we will section the sides of the head start at the top of the head and end right behind the ear section out the crown of the head. You can use your comb, however, i'm using my fingers, clean sections, are very important when cutting hair next section. Another piece right by the occipital bone, leaving out about three inches of the hair by the nape of the head: split the hair in half and comb it as straight as possible. I will start off by trimming the perimeter of the hair it's time to determine how much you want to trim keep in mind. If you have curly hair, your hair will be shorter once dried, since this is just a trim, i'm only trimming about three and a half inches of my hair hold the hair firmly and comb the hair all the way down, tilting your head to the side. Now it's time to cut the hair to your desired length, it's important that the sections are not too thick, because it will be difficult for the scissors to cut through evenly. If you find that your sections are too thick, go ahead and take smaller sections before moving on to the other side, take out a small section of the hair from the previous cut, this piece will be used as a guide continue the same method. On the other side of the head firmly comb, the hair down, tilting your head to the side using the piece of hair as a guide, as you can tell, the perimeter of the hair is already looking a lot more healthy. Now, it's time to move on to the section by the occipital bone, split the hair in half and continue the same method on both sides of the head. I find it easier to place my fingers on top of the comb as it allows for a firm grip. As you can see, the previous section is shorter and therefore we will use that as a guide, once you're done always cross check to ensure that both sides are even next undo, the section by the crown of the head and repeat the same method. As you can see, i will be using the previous section as a guide. Okay, once the back of the head is complete, it's time to move on to the sides of the head tilt, your head, comb, the hair firmly and align your hair with the previous section blending. Both sides repeat the same method on the other side, once you're all done check the hair to make sure both sides are even and leveled. Now that the perimeter of the hair has been done, i will begin with subtle, face framing layers. Go ahead and section the sides of the head again behind the ear tie the rest of the hair into a bun so that it is out of your way. Take out about half an inch from both sides of the hair, the section should be shaped, like a triangle determine where you want your face: framing layers to start and trim the hair accordingly split the section again down the middle, as this piece will now be used. As your guide comb, the hair straight down and hold the hair with the firm grip, take your shears and gently slide cut the hair getting rid of mostly the dead ends. Take the other section and blend the face. Framing layers slide cut until you are satisfied with the layers once you're done check to see if both sides are even if you find that one side is still a bit longer, no worries just go in and trim the layers until you are satisfied. I am all done trimming the hair, and now i will go in and dry the hair. I always prefer to straighten my hair after a trim. It allows me to cross check my cut now that my hair is straightened. I'M able to see if my face framing layers are blended the same and i'm able to see if the perimeter of the hair needs to be fixed. In this case, my hair is all even and i'm happy with the results yay, i'm all done. Okay, guys, my hair is all done. It feels so much healthier. It always feels great once you get a trim or a haircut if you notice, i only trimmed the ends of my hair, and i gave myself subtle layers right at the front um. I didn't want to cut layers in the back and that's because i don't want choppy layers. It looks great when it's blow dried or curled, but once it's all straight, then you really see the choppy lines. So i highly recommend that you not cut layers in the back of your hair if you want to cut them in the front. That'S fine! If you want to trim your length, that's also fine, but try to steer away from layers in the back go to the salon for that. chibibankai: I had my hair cut at the beginning of the year.....and then we went into lockdown. Through the year my ends just got worse and worse, regardless or masks, serums, oils....I was getting very frustrated and assumed my hair needed another trim. Then we went into another lockdown! I was really really annoyed with my hair, getting tangled all the time, it was becoming very difficult to handle (it is very long). I found your video and decided to follow it to trim it at home. Easy to follow instructions. Is it perfect? No, but my hair feels so much healthier, has a decent shape and I am really happy.I managed to do this without panicking and all in all really happy with the results. Thanks so much for the tutorial!

So may videos since lockdown has geared towards layers and I prefer one length cuts with face framing. When you did this how long did it take you to give yourself this trim? Lori Shropshire: Excellent tutorial! Post covid 2020 my hair has gone totally insane! Thanks for the great instructions will hit it after the new moon!

Jackie Tran: Just used your tutorial to trim around an inch off my thick hair. I didn't have the clips or comb required but I made do with hair ties, a brush and regular scissors. I cut it wet and I kept my side part during. I think it came out pretty decent for my first time cutting my own hair. Some small sections were not super even because I kept going back in and tweaking too much and I couldn't slide cut very well with my crappy scissors but the overall it looks good and my hair feels refreshed. These days I'm too anxious to go to the salon so I'm so glad I found your straightforward and simple to follow video. Taking time to make nice sections made all the difference in keeping the length similar as I went along. I will save up for actual shears and refer to your guide again for self trims. Thank you so much!!

You've helped me save $ and stress thanks ●●●update ●I cut my hair exactly as she said in the video, i cut off 3 inches and my hair looks great! My hairs even, with small layers in the front. This video was very easy to follow. Im really very happy, and so is my wallet thank you!

Judithestears: Husband has straight cut my hair for 40 years, but he has a serious tremor and hasn’t been able to for nearly 3 years. It’s to my waist wet, but very thin. Thanks for tips...

Jasmine Hoover: I'm surprised this video didn't have more views. Its great. My hair is the same length texture and color so that was really helpful. I would've been scared to cut 3.5 inches but it looks good so it's nice to see it, and i haven't had a trim since well before quarantine so i probably should. Can't wait to try this. You would think there would be a million videos like this, but there really aren't so i appreciate it
