That'S probably the one thing that hurt hurt my heart, the most when i saw breakage, i was like what's up beautiful people thanks for tuning in, i appreciate you, you know i do girl girl, welcome back for another video, my girl and guys, what's papa locking y'all In today's video we're gon na talk about this hair of mine, i just want to have an open, honest conversation with y'all um and just checking on y'all too about like where y'all are, with your hair journey and just in life in general. Okay got a nice huge announcement at the end as well. Let'S go ahead and dive into this. Shall we all right y'all ready? Okay, great! So let's get this video started! Oh girl, let's get it, let's get it, let's get it! Where is your girl at with this um? Let'S just i know, i told my hair a lot but like this is just the real of like being a natural uh naturalista. At least this is my story. This is the part of my journey. Is that i'll be having highs? Y'All i'd be like wow lynch who's? She, you know me i'll, show off the lymph for y'all, but um. There are also moments where i'm like. Here we go again and i had a here. We go again with my hair. Recently. Um, i finally got a trim as y'all always hear me say, and i read the and the reason why i always say this to y'all is because just to remind y'all to get a trim, i think very um important in this length retention journey, healthy hair journey. All this stuff right and so um it took me forever to get a trim, and so because of that and y'all know i like to put on my ends. I experienced some good snip, snip and i'll insert that here you gon na. Let it come on. I'M gon na let it come on because you know you know all right. Look. I still respect and need stylers. Okay, some of y'all don't need them, but i need them there. It is but yeah. So she just kept it with me. Like you know, yeah your hair was, it was time and so um that's what we had to do and it is what it is like. I think it's a thing of like dang i was just there like. I finally was able to like you see. Y'All see me pulling my hair. That is why my hair, the way it is i'm still here. Okay, it's been growing but like it could be longer, and i get it for my mom, my grandmother. Does it too i'm like yo, stop immediately. She kept really about where my hair was, and just you know when you see moments like that or experience moments like that, where you feel like it's a setback, certain things in life, you know exactly what you can do to get back to where you were, and So that's what clicked in my head and like allowed me to not even be irritated or upset about it because i'm like well, you know what to do for you in this journey. You cannot touch your hair as much. Your hair does not like to be touched. Yes, you are a natural hair youtuber, you do your hair, but this is not benefiting you. It'S not benefiting your hair, no more, and so i'm like okay, we're gon na protect the style, which i heard me do uh heard me say a lot about, and so i was doing that and it definitely um allowed my hair to retain length um. But i did stop for a few seconds because i want to give regular tutorials, and you know this was also my job right and so a full-time job if y'all did not know, and so i was like okay well, we got ta do our hair, but i Should have been really honest and said, okay, but it's also now time to put it back up. What did i do? I was like: oh, i love these process. These process is giving i'm looking great but um, just knowing me and pulling on my ends. I should have put my hair up knew if i sacrificed putting my hair up for a year, so i was gon na see the length i was looking for or two years i was going to see. The left i was looking for moments like this is just temporary, i'm going to rock my curls. You know in between time i'm not going to preach, let's preach a little bit, but there is yeah, there's a beauty in the sacrifice, and when i mean that is at least for what i'm trying to say about that. Is that um? The sacrifice that you're giving doesn't have to be forever um. The sacrifice is, for a reason, it's for a purpose. The sacrifice will grow you for me in multiple ways: right, um, there's a reason for sacrificing certain things and then then you gon na come out on top i'm gon na have my land i'm be like down here without having to do my neck like this. So i automatically think about my finances. I'M like okay, you have goals for your finances. You have goals for savings, you have goals for investing all this type of stuff, but it also takes a sacrifice and what does that sacrifice? Look like me cooking. Oh, my gosh, that that includes me eating cooking at home. Oh my gosh! That includes me not spending so much money on clothes, not going out so much. You know going out to eat like that's what i mean by the sacrifice, um. The sacrifice in this case of where i'm describing it is the thing that's gon na help you get to your next level and i'm realizing that that's what i have to do with my hair um. You know where you want to be do what you got to do and that's on that, but yeah so um. I just came here to kind of do a lymph check and just talk about where i'm at with this hair um. I love my hair. So that's. Why i like to you, know, have it out and about you know: breathing curls popping blowing in the wind, but what i have to do right now is just be real about where i'm trying to go and what are the things i need to do to get There and look that includes putting it up for me, so my grades are really coming in strong, like no other. I'Ve always told y'all that, but they are, they have escalated since the panorama they have escalated, and so i'm just really preparing myself for that, because they're here, i'm not covering them up. I don't care, i'm excited to go full grade just not yet though, but i'm excited to go full grade. Also too, i've been trying to do better with moisture and so really like making sure that my hair is moisturized like not half doing it. I have not putting just a little bit of product now really work that in comb that through make sure it's on all of it and more at the ends, and so that has been really helping. My hair as well - and i would say, product wise - i just haven't been attached to just one product lately, uh y'all know my go-to's, but like lately, i've been using the pattern. Beauty, shampoo, i've been using tgin honey miracle mask um. I'Ve also been using melody, hair care. Y'All know i use the oil all the time, so that's a given, but i've been putting this in rotation too they're black uh caster african black soap wow. I said that african black soap um reviving shampoo. I'Ve definitely been using the edge fixer by kiss colors and care, like i said it flakes up, but i love it so much um and then my back up is up north naturals healthy edges, uh. Also, this is the other thing i want to talk to you all about breakage. I have been having breakage in my hair, and this is all on me. I mean everything i do to my hair is on me right there, but i've been using a denman brush, which i know like that was like my go-to, easy nothing demon brush with nothing, but right now, i'm noticing and been noticing that my hair has been breaking More um, just because when i'm using it, i just i'll, be just going and i'm like you're not using this brush properly, and so i kind of had to step back and not use it as much the only time i really try to use it. Um is when i'm doing a perm rod set, just because i like how it smooths out my hair, but i'm trying not to use it for a detangler. I can't use it for a detangler, no more and that's just keeping it real and honest. You know i've been using it for years. You know still recommend it just not for a detangler. That'S probably the one thing that hurt hurt my heart, the most when i saw breakage, i was like there's one thing to have your ears get off, but when i see the fact that my my root, my my roots are short, i have pieces short pieces flyaways. I'M like oh, my gosh, it's from the brush. It'S because it's not from me! It'S nothing! It'S not the style! It'S nothing like that because i don't do nothing too tight on my head, so i'm like this is from the brush, and so i have now rotated that out um. That was another thing. I was really disappointed in myself because i was like you knew when you were just going at it like. You have to be intentional and aware when you are using tools on your hair, and i wasn't, and so what we're going to do. This is going to dedicate every other month being a protective style look or something like that um, you know and also being strategic when i film videos - okay, maybe i got ta, get two tutorials out in this one day, so that i can put my hair up. So i know what to do. I just got ta. Do it the goal? My ultimate goal by the end of the year was to have my hair pass the letters that sit on like my shirts um and including this shirt. This shirt sits in the same spot. My uh shirts do as well uh hair type popping shirts. You know they took curly apparel check them out, link down below all that good stuff. We do have a black friday sale going on so jump on the sale um, but yeah we have a blowout sale. Let me make sure that i say that we have blow out sales, then the new stuff is going to drop really soon, so stay tuned for theater in the next couple weeks, great but yeah. So the goal was for my hair to be this long in the back and past the letter like i wanted it past the letter without having to break my neck, but look at this now we're up here and so um because of my trim. Now i'm back to like the top of the letter, not actually i'm not even at the top of the letter, i'm not even here all right. So let's just do a lymph check about where we are. You know wow, that's probably super bright. So in the back, we're at what nine eight and a half i'll say: eight and a half inches. You know six months down the line three months down the line to see maybe three months. I know i'm thinking three months and see where we are in the front. We are at basically 11 inches focus. How dare you not focus? Oh, my gosh, i'm trying to play them we're at 11., all right we're going right at the right and like coming in so this one is at eight. What did i that was so not what this says is that 10., it's right at 10.. So let me do the back better, i'm not going to bring it forward, but i feel like that was accurate, but you know: let's do this side and see what it's saying. Okay, let me drop it, so we can see where it's at i'm definitely on the wrong side of the thing yeah, it's eight that's accurate! It'S that eight! Let me know down below where you are in your hair care journey. Um. Are you lacking where you are? Do you like this? Do you like the length that you are? Do you like the where your health or the hair is have you found products that really work for you that you keep on you know in a routine keeping rotation? I should say. Let me know where you are, how you feeling this is our check-in like we got ta we wan na, be i wan na be able to talk to y'all, okay and have a check in on where we are oh y'all, probably she's so extra in this video Today, i'm like, i am, it is what it is, but these are really emotions like these. This is real like we um i and i'm okay, with having this connection to my hair, i'm okay with that, just my hair. I took time to grow it to love on it and so yeah. I want to make sure it's good, i'm gon na be honest about where i'm at and how i feel about it. That'S what's happening here and yeah. I appreciate y'all so much for listening um. If you made it this far, my special announcement is the follow when your girl has a vlog channel. Now i wan na try to kind of know more about me because with hair, it's like this, is it that's it? I want y'all to see me moving and grooving, so we're gon na. Do it sorry? 10. 30.. I was gon na try to go to panera, but it's past 10 30, which means breakfast is done. I'M fine, so first thing we're going to do is try to check out some orders. It'S not that many orders, which is okay, so um, which is not that exciting some days. But look that's real life right. I ain't got to be on 10 every day. So i want y'all to hang out with me um on the vlog channel, which is janae mason tv i'll leave the link down below because you know got ta go to the channel. Nae2Curly: Hey Beautiful People Crew! Let’s start a “Healthy Hair Habit” thread here! Leave your tips!⬇️

Katherine Miller: When you’re just chilling at home and don’t want to put your hair up, put on a bonnet to help keep your hands out of your hair. It works for me.

D H: In life, we know exactly what to do or can easily find out if we don't. It's a matter of follow through and being consistent with it. Most of the time we just want a quick fix but the only way to see real results is consistency and time. I used to want long hair, but the reality is that it will just be more of a pain to handle with detangling and styling the longer it gets. The healthier it gets, the thicker and fuller it will get. It might look nice to have long hair, but the maintenance of it can be more work than I want to dedicate to just hair. Thank God for the long, kinky wigs that mimic my hair type when I feel like I want more length.

Neosoul_prima: Honestly sis… I feel you! I felt like I was at a plateau, but Making changes like using the Felicia brush for detangling, and then using my denman comb for smoothing during styling. Or, sticking with keeping my hair stretched and banded while sleeping! Not over processing my deep treatments, keeping my hair/scalp cleansed, keeping my health in order and more! I’ve had a set back due to a ton of stress, but we’re gonna get the kinks back into shape

Kayla: Checking in: Honestly I want to grow my hair to the middle of my back on ALL SIDES of my head because I be bald headed in the front area and it’s probably because the tension and I just need a set routine. Also I’m too excited for this vlog channel ❤️❤️❤️

Coils and Cosmetics: Same! This length retention journey is tough for us curly heads.

Ldy Sapphire: I'm at the "starting over" "product search" stage AGAIN...which is depressing she rocking braids until further notice...and my braid stylist is keeping my ends trimmed.

Natasha Doris: You and I have similar hair texture, so over the years I've been able to connect with you more than any other YouTuber. I've been natural for the past 4 years and my hair length is almost what yours are (10-12 inches) which I think is way behind. A few months ago I had a blow out for the first time, and that was a game changer for me. When my hair is in its natural state, the ends tend to break off much easier, but keeping my hair in it's stretched state seems to be working alot better. Since your hair is already in a stretched state, maybe you can do some comparisons and see if there's a difference.

Makinni Roberts: I'm currently loving the big chop/twa stage....not sure when I'll be back with the long curls but I'm gon live that life through you for now Nae!!!

Trisha Smith: Firstly, I love your grays and I hope you're still making content when you go fully gray because it's going to be STUNNING!! For me, I don't like where I am in my journey. But I am learning my hair. I am currently trying to learn how to just establish a routine and not worry if I'm doing the exact right thing or if I'm being perfect. It's hard. It's hard dealing with breakage and not knowing how much of wash day is breakage and how much is just shed hair. It is DEFINITLY a journey. But, I'm trying not to stress (too much) and just learn as I go. Love you girl Keep it up!!

Vetta Manning: My Gurl!!! Love you Nae Nae... good to see you thank you for the update and your honesty Always! Hair is going... I am up in braids right now. I feel like it is quick and easy and doesn't break my hair off when I do them myself. Right before I put my hair up I was blowing it out and was thinking of doing the straight hair natural for a minute. But I just braided it up in box braids. I am also a teacher so getting up extra early for styling is never It! LOL but this helps me keep my hair protected in the cold Midwest winter as I live in Missouri. Texture ID original... Mielle leave in... clay mask once every couple months.... I leave my braids in for about a month on average before I redo them. I will be going to the new channel to keep up with the homie! You helped me when I first got going in the game of natural hair. You are appreciated but always take care of you Mama. Love you Nae Nae!

Cheshire Dj: I'm so glad you said that about the brush! I bought a tangle teezer for the first time because who doesn't want to cut detangling time? I was literally scared when I was finished. Maybe it was normal, but it seemed like a lot to me. Can't wait for the new merch!

Lori Rodney: Chile, you not extra at all. Them trims be EMOTIONAL! I just got a curly cut and immediately regretted it. ‍♀️ Threw my hair up in locs and will stay in protective styles til it grows back. Also, I swear by "Curls & Potions" natural hair line. My hair LOVES it. Amazing moisture, slip, detangling, everything they make is bomb! ❤

Amber Black: Girl, your hair looks so good. I see those grays peeking out, you have gained a lot of wisdom.

Yas Baylor: I needed to hear this. I’ve been so frustrated with my hair lately because it’s not growing and there’s always so much shedding. I recently noticed breakage at the crown of my head and I’m just trying to get it together and get a grip on this length retention

Tam Jones: You are too funny and I happen to be taken out my braids after three weeks( that's a record for me). My hair does grow more in protective styles and you're helping me embrace the process( It'll be one year in January).

Dommonique Washington: Girl im having a setback myself. I Went to get my hair done and the stylist definitely jacked me up and gave me a butchered trim! I have layers on one side and one side of my hair is longer than the other not to mention she trimmed way more than she needed to. She set me back like 2 years & I absolutely refuse to cut my hair to even everything out! I’m like so beyond pissed! I’m so traumatized I don’t even wanna go to a salon anymore let alone get trims anymore. just annoyed

Audreydee74: Hey Nae, always entertaining… I’m a year natural & I’m content with whr I am in my journey, but like most… I want to go further & have healthier hair. ❤️ ur channel & I learn a lot! Can u recommend “in ur opinion” a good moisturizing shampoo? At wash time my hair feels so brittle & I always do a deep conditioning with my steam cap.

shanice routh: I am the same as you! I have the same problem with pulling my ends. I also am scissor happy especially when I know my ends look bad. I am happy with my length though. I’m trying not to focus too much on the growth and more on the health. I’ve been really trying to use protein and it’s been good for my hair growth. I’m at the stage in my journey where shape is more important than length.

Healthoverlength: Don’t do a henna mask! It doesn’t seem to be a good treatment for non silky textures. Please look it up before venturing that way.

Juliette Anne: It is amazing that you would mention the Denman Brush. I threw mine away a couple of months ago for that same reason. Love you sis:)

Jo: Thanks for putting this out I am also struggling in my growth journey I stop growing at the shoulders Having much breakage

modest nurse: Girrll. Your reaction after saying "me cooking " . I feel the same way!

ItsJasDarling: If I’m not out and about my hair is in a bonnet. However, I have found myself playing in my hair (I be bored ). My goal is to at least go to a professional stylist every couple of months for a checkup. I waited 6mo to get a trim I love doing my hair myself because I stopped using heat and between you and me these stylists are EXPENSIVE but I’m gonna make it my goal to check in, get a trim when needed and just a blow out. Making sure my scalp stays moisturized! I thought I was really moisturizing my hair and scalp but I guess not. The stylist was like “baby this scalp is dry” Okay noted let me work on that.

Nicole Ryan: I'm so glad that you started vlogging I've always found you interested

Sunshine Love Yashar'al: Currently having a setback all year due to a hard fight with postpartum .

Tiarra L: I'm glad to see your video and proud of you for embracing your grays.

Natural Hair Khronicles: You ever thought about doing a henna mask on your hair. Curly proverbz has awesome videos on the benefits of henna. Other supplement that helped me collagen, seamoss smoothies oils and just putting hair away. You will see your length

Felicia Daniels: Thank you fir this video. I feel like my hair is at a plateau when others hair is just growing and growing.

Shane Maxie: My daughter hair is experiencing shedding during prepooing, shampooing and deep conditioning it’s just coming out ‍♀️. I am trying to figure out what is going on I stop steaming her prepoo and start using soultanicals rice tonic this wash day I hope it helps her hair it’s a struggle

chloe mukozho: I’m so excited for your vlog channel!

Lesh Camp: I pull on my hair too. So i've had to do regular trims which means i'm still at 4 years.

Natural Hair Khronicles: Beautiful. Setbacks are real but your hair is growing Beautiful.

Aisha Long: Your hair looks beautiful & full. My hair journey is going good. I big chopped it a year ago. I trim it 4x a year once ever quarter. It is shoulder length now. I wan it past my back bra line is my hair goal. But my hair is healthy & growing. Water is my best friend I comb it once a week & leave it alone. I am at 13inches in the front 11 in the back.. goal is 18 inches so still got a was to go. But I don't roller set because it never come out right. It is wash & goes I puffs/ low puffs buns or 2 French bread now I am on individual twist because my mom & boyfriend think it is cute. I don't do gel as much because I don't want my hair hard & stiff. So mouse & leave I'm conditioner & curl cream.

TK: So happy about the vlog channellllllllllllllllllllll!

Peachi Fluid Acrylic Art Designs: Still experimenting with shampoos. Love my length, but would love more. Still working on definition.

kkellz81: Girl....I'm bald lol after a four year journey heat ruined my life I'm restarting as of yesterday with a small fro.

Ambikka Williams: Stressed because my hair has stalled out and I'm ready to shave my head..

Myrna J: You look gorgeous My girl ❤.

Chartrae Durham: I'm trying to grow my hair out. It's tough

Tehilah Serah: I just got a curly and omg she cut my hair so much I wanted to cry

Sammy Da Goat: Outstanding Upload Happy Thanksgiving To You As Well

Yolanda WILLIAMS: Your hair looks good.

Avion Lanier: I feel like I would get on your nerves telling you how beautiful you are. Beautiful lol

Kemi .A.: We also needed to stop using too many products on our hair. We need to stick to what we think suits our hair. Because a product is cheap does not mean it ain't working, people.

K Cam: All of this!!!

Chelsi Brianna: I fight with myself everyday like if my not hair not growing like I want , loc it up ‍

Auntie Z: Try onion juice to slow gray hair down. It's also good for hair growth!

Ebeth Fielder: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Vivian looremetta: Hi please can you send me the link on where you bought your dryer

O.T.: If you want long hair get dreads

Jewels Jewels: Guurll I'm at here we again right now too ‍♀️

Marleen G.: Hair only grows like 6 inches a year. If you cut it more than 4 times a year, there goes all your growth. And hair dressers hardly can stay within 2 inches for a trim, hardly! Trust me on that. How I got it to over booty length (classic length) is by simply not trimming or at most once a year, and by not taking that much off even then, and by getting to a length where I could to it myself. Check out Feye's self-trimming method on the web, it is famous for doing your own trimming; no tools necessary but some good shears and a hair elastic, or two.

vonnie B: New channel....bet! What's poppin sis I'm there!
