Hi Guys & Dolls!

It seems easy enough- throw your hair back and put a wig on, right? Well not if you want it to stay in place all day & night! When your hair is short or you want to wear a short-haired wig it can be a bit tricky! In this video I divulge all my tips & tricks for getting it right and getting it tight-just not so tight it gives you a headache!

Also I mentioned getting my hair dyed on Facebook- this video was filmed before I got it colored ^_^

Hey guys Knoll today, I'm gon na be sharing with you, some tips and tricks for wearing a wig and a wig cap. I highly recommend, if you're, going to wear a wig to wear a wig cap. It just kind of keeps everything in place and keeps your hair down and out of the way and make sure that if you have like layers or baby hairs, whatever it just kind of keeps it all under wraps, and it just makes the wig stay on easier. Especially like my hair is very slickery and very like baby, fine, and so the wig caps alone can sometimes slip off, but the wig by itself, without a wig cap, oh heck, no, it's gon na be all over the place so um. I do have some kind of different methods that I use that I haven't seen. Anyone else do in a video, especially um, really mid, like they I've seen a lot of weight cap videos for long hair, but not any for short hair or for long or like mid length hair. So first you'll need a wig, and this is from Gothic Lolita. Wigs how I mean this color looks super cool on camera. It'S a really nice bright, teal wig. The next thing that you'll need are two wig caps. So I like to get one of these like stocking, wig caps for the first layer and then the second layer. I do one of these, like netted ones. I highly highly highly recommend the netted ones because you can put bobby pins in them a little bit easier and if you have longer hair, they stretch more. So it's easier to get more of the hair in them and then you'll really like some duct clips like these and then some bobby pins or I think in the UK. They call them hair grips and then some of these ones, which are they're also like a hair grip or a bobby pin, but they have sort of like a like a loopy loop thing on them and they grip the hair really really good. So here's what we're going to do! The first thing is: I'm going to put my hair up in like a half whatever you call it just kind of get the top portion of my hair out of the way. Next, I'm going to get a little tiny hair tie like this, and I'm going to put the bottom portion of my hair all up in it. If you want to, you, can get a brush and really comb it all into place. Now, if your hair is very slick like if it's like fresh, you know first day here, it's very slick or whatever, for whatever reason its slippery, I would recommend putting a little bit of hairspray in your hair just to give it a little bit of grit. So I'm gon na have my ponytail and I'm going to look it up and take some of these really strong hair group thingies and secure the hair with two one going in one direction and one going in the other direction like that. So it's nice and flat. Then I'll do the top portion and I like to secure the bottom section down. First, I don't know you do what works for you. So I'm going to again comb the hair back gather the hair to sort of like a high ponytail. Only this time we're not going to secure it with that, because it kind of creates a weird bump. This time we're going to kind of fold the hair back, you see I'm doing that and grab more of our super heavy-duty grips, and so now we have hair that is pinned back, but rather rather flat. Now, if you have very long hair, one thing that works really well is to do a French braid all the way back, but because my hair is kind of short it just it's more trouble than it's worth so now. What you want to do is to make all these little flyaway hairs lay down. So I take a bit of hairspray. Can it go around hot and slick it down? Sometimes, if I'm wearing like a dark, colored, wig I'll leave like my sideburn hair out, because it kind of helps to blend it in, but not today. No, no! No! Now we're going to put on the first wig cap - and this is one of those you know just like mesh random wig caps and I'm going to put it on one super - exciting, very fashionable. Okay and tuck it behind the ears and push as much of the hair into it as humanly possible and then you're going to want to bring that up to the hairline. And you see how all those little hairs in the back are nice and tucked into it. Now we're going to start putting more clips in so more hair grips or bobby pins or whatever. So if it usually two in the front on the sides and then I'll do two in the back on each side and then we get to these second two wig cap and the reason I like to do two is because I need the extra security, because my Hair is so baby fine, you might not end up needing two, but I just find that this works best and it'll pull that one mine's ripping awesome. You see this little tear here that sucks, okay, so get that on and then I'll pull it like this. Hopefully, you guys can see and then I'll take a hair grip and poke it through both both hair caps or weight caps and I'll sort of twist it around and poke it through to secure it to the hair to the both weight caps. It'S all very, very secure. Now, however, I'm going to put on just a couple more Clips, because I don't want this ish going anywhere now I have both my wig caps on there, nice and secure the clips are in everything's, nice and good. What I'm going to do now is my little secret weapon, and that is to use a hairspray all over to really solidify everything. It will kind of form like a little hair helmet for you and I'm telling you when you do this. It lasts all day. All night, so we're really gon na. If you don't have problems with wig slippage, you might not need this step. I have problems with it because of the fineness of my hair, so this is a necessary step for me. I'Ll also take a little extra. Those baby hairs little stubborn guys, so I'm going to go ahead and let that dry and harden before I put the wig on in the meantime. Let me go ahead and show you how I tighten the wig. It has these little elastic bands on the inside that you can adjust and you want the way to be tight enough to where it feels secure. But you don't want it so tight that it hurts your head. So for me, I'm going to go on that. Second little rung there guys let's go ahead and get this wig on, I'm going to start from the front, and I'm gon na hold that right there at the front of the wig cap and bring the rest of the wig around with the back pulling it down. And then bring that wig down below the weight cap in the back. So once you have the wiggle and secure you want to give it the wiggle test, you want to jump around or dance around or do whatever and make sure that it's going to be nice and secure. This feels really wonderfully secure and then you're free to style. It I'm going to come up the bangs. You know come the sides out a little bit. I really like this wig. This is from Gothic Lolita wigs. I was looking for like a like a lady Gaga S, blue wig, because I love this color hair on me. But maintaining it in real life is just such a pain and then also because I wear my hair a little longer, it's a cool way to have a bob again, so there you have it. That is how I apply my wigs or my wigs on. I hope that you're, having a fantastic day and I'll see you in my next video remember to vintage, attract you just be yourself, see you bye. I am Iron Man minun in Indiana me Iron Man, who really knows the words, not me Oh viously, when I sat down to kind of play with makeup today. This is what came out and I'm really happy with the result. I hope you guys like it as well, so let's go ahead and get started. This was kind of douchey, whatever

Karla T: This was such an informative video. It helped me a lot with putting on my first wig. Thanks for posting :)

jacqi rexwinkle: I just stumbled upon this video while trying to figure out how to make a party city wig look ok for my daughter's Halloween costume and I just wanted to let you know that I love your bubbly awesome personality that comes through so clear! I am trying very hard to raise a strong young woman who is not afraid to show her strengths and be a true individual and that is not easy. she loves make up and you tube so I am definitely going to have her check out your channel! so sorry for the long post! you rock

Lily K Lorenzo: "Take a bit of hairspray" Me: *goes crazy with hairspray* Darn.......

Laymeht: I'm sorry but you should be wearing the wig caps the OTHER way around. the two hole wig cap is used to grip hair and help it from sliding out which is why it's like a net. and the black one goes on top to help flatten it out and secure it better.

Makeupmentality: this was so helpful and that color wig is so adorable on you

Peyton Sharp: This was really helpful thank you!!! I only have the first mesh cap and my hair is mid / long ish length (and my wig is even longer) so i had no idea what to do at first. You're a life saver thanx girl !

Diana: Love the make-up! Thank you for this tutorial. I got my first fun wig and I had no idea how to do put it on. Thank you so much!!

Phoebe Rose: Wow that eyeshadow though slay queen

Ananasturtle: Okay, even though this video is like almost exactly four years old, it helps me quite a lot. I've got a similar hairstyle to the one you had in this video (my hair struckture is just not as fine ^^') and for me it's the best method I've found and tried out so far. Also it's the first video I've watched from you, but I might stick around for a while ^^ Definitely a huge thank you for this tutorial :D

Sarah Cohan: Thank you! I had so many problems with mine that I ended up just going with my own hair on the day of the festival! I so needed this!!

Addie Gingold: This is really close to what I do, definitely cosplayer-approved! I usually use an open-top wig cap as the first layer so I don't have to pull back my hair, and finish with a closed-top cap and pins~ that wig looks adorable on you >3<

G-Ma Of8: I am 64, have had a lot of hair loss, but still very active. My hair has always been fine and silky, and what's left of it is even more-so. I finally bought a good quality wig, but was frustrated that it didn't seem to fit right or stay in place. Your video was extremely helpful. I can now wig out with confidence. Thank you!

Jane Clark: Thanks for all the great tips and tricks! From a first time wig wearer, it really helps!  :) You also have beautiful eyes!

SuZet Rides an Andalusian: H Cora!  You gave me the grit to buy myself a lovely light pink wig on ebay.  It's beautiful, very pastel and long.  Even better, my hubby said he'd even go out with me in public when I wear it!! LOL  I now have to quick order a wig cap though.  I also have very fine hair, but it's much longer than yours and this video showed me what I need to do so I won't look like a dork,  Thanks Lady!!

ashleighobrien27: So ive been watching your videos for a couple months and seeing you so confident made me want to feel the same way so I asked my bf to buy me a short dress and I wore it today and I felt fantastic.. thanks for giving me that extra push! love your vids!

Evilstepqueen: Went to Target today, thought of you. Got this awesome hi/lo dress in a purple/pink snakeskin print. It is sooo adorable. It has this cool purple thin belt, too. They had a grey/turquoise/red cool print one and a plain purple one, too. I am in love with these dresses, party thanks to you for your OOTD vids!! Thank you!

MACTackleBox: Yea, Cora!! I have always wondered how to do this....and now I know!! Thanks, Gurl! And the wig looks AWSOME on you!! xoxo

Sarah Hobbi: Thanks for the tutorial! I've never worn a wig but figured it was a great way to be able to try out radical styles and colors without having to constantly change up my hair (even though it's purple right now).

Andrea Anderson: thank you for this video. I have baby fine hair that tends to excape my wig cab and i have green/blue hair so it can be seen at work, and this video has helped A LOT. btw Love the make-up.

Christine Williams: Thank you for the video! Where did you find the second wig cap? I've never seen one like that. Also, you've secured both the first and second wigcaps with various clips and pins, but did you do the same for the wig itself? I assume not, since it didn't come up in the video and you were very thorough, but thought I would confirm! :)

Jaqueline Desjardins: That was incredibly helpful! And you look awesome! Love the teal!

KnG1Dakota: Thank you so much for making this! I go to cons and cosplay and my wig is always falling off and same with my wig cap thanks to my slippery hair. So I'll have to try this trick! :D

thewanderingkatx: this was so neat to watch! I've never worn a wig, but i've always wondered how people got their hair into a wig/wig cap and made it flat

Snobby: This is so helpful for us cosplayers! Thank you! Would you consider maybe doing some sort of anime eyes tutorial? Or a tutorial for picture perfect makeup? Thank you so much once again!

Mrs. Foster: super helpful I wondered what the straps on my wig were for! and I had troubles with my wig cap falling back cause I moved a lot now for my next convention I can walk in with some more knowledge thank you for the video!

Manuel Calderon: Very professional. ..and soooo elegantly beautiful

MsCerise007: I will have to keep this in mind. I never go through all of these steps & I have long hair past the middle of my back but I did notice that my wig tends to slip forward & one time I was pumping gas on a super windy day when we had high winds , my wig blew off. LOL What a sight because I also had a dress on. So, dress blows up & wig blows off. Now quit laughing Cora LOL Thanx for the tip. I will use it next time.

Theresa Burden: you should try the velvet headband wig grip. i put it on under my wig cap and put the wig cap a little behind it. It feels so secure when you wear it and you feel so confident because there is no worry about your wig falling off.

Lorna Beshara: Your make up is perfection and so are you! xoxo

Carrie Anderson: Just have a question, I'm exploring getting a wig and loved this video the only thing is i was wondering if you could put clips in the secure the wig to the wig Cap as well? Just for Added security or is that unnecessary?
